The Customer Relationship Management Planning Guide
Dick Lee Manufacturer: High-Yield Marketing Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Plastic Comb ASIN: 0967375703 |
Book Description
The majority of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) implementations fail. Why? Primarily because implementers treat CRM tactically, as software, rather than strategically, as a new way of doing business. The Customer Relationship Management Planning Guide is designed to help organizations implement CRM strategically and successfully through a planning-based approach.Using The CRM Planning Guide is as simple as 1-2-3. 1. Assemble a cross-functional planning team. The core team, which attends all meetings, should include at least one decision-maker each from marketing, sales and customer service-plus a "second voice" from each. A wider resource team, which participates on an as-needed basis, should include market and product managers, several field sales reps and service reps-plus marketing's management contact in ITand others directly affecting marketing activities. Of utmost importance is having a team sponsor with the clout to clear your path and the will to use it. 2. Gather necessary information. Review the planning document to identify what information you have in hand and what you'll need to gather. Assign responsibility and resources for obtaining the necessary information. 3. Let the CRM Planning Guide lead you through the planning process. Make sure you follow The CRM Planning Guide in the sequence presented. Much of the power of this planning process comes from evaluating input in the order most likely to create a "compounding" effect where previous considerations help you answer questions to come. Occasionally, you'll want to go back and amend previous observations, which is normal. But avoid skipping around because you have certain information now but won't have some other information until later.
That's all there is to it.

It is so basic.......2001-09-13
[...] I decided to purchase both Dick Lee CRM books, steps I,II,II,IV. I studied them and [...] they do not provide solid tools to face real CRM projects.
Nothing New.......2001-05-02
That being said, I read the Survival Guide and was extremely pleased. The detail that was lacking in the Kinkos assembled planning and deployment guides was plentiful in the Surival Guide. It was an easy read and clearly and honestly points out the pitfalls of CRM implementation. The survival guide also has much more "how to" and references real life situations with which the reader can identify.
Spend the $... on the Survival Guide and save your money on the rest...unless you know nothing about strategic planning, understanding customer needs, and facilitating team activities.

Great Tool.......2000-12-17
The two books follows the authors premise and philosophy that customer relationship management (CRM) is an on-going process beginning with developing customer-centric strategies, then redesigning functional activities (roles and responsibilities of your people), then redesigning work processes and finally supported by CRM technology -both the appropriate software and hardware.
The first in the series is the Customer Relationship Management Planning Guide. It cover the first two steps; implementing customer-centric strategies and redesigning functional activities. It follows a systematic outline that the author has developed and refined over many years of marketing and crm consulting. The guide begins with an explanation and distinction between CRM and SFA (sales force automation). CRM encompasses a companies vision, opportunities, goals, strategies, processes, while SFA really only deals with automating an organizations process. In other words, CRM is a much more holistic approach to one's business.
The author emphasizes the need for planning versus jumping right in to automate one's processes. You first need a plan and a strategy before you try to streamline the process. If followed and utilized the planning guide can be invaluable to a company's successful crm implementation.
The second in the series is the Customer Relationship Management Deployment Guide. It covers steps three and four; process re-engineering and technology. Once again, the author shares his wealth of knowledge and experience through this book. It also is outstanding as a guideline towards a successful crm implementation. It offers a straightforward, yet powerful way to map out existing processes, identifying black data holes, and finally steps to improve and streamline the process. A word of caution is important - while tempting to jump right into this guide book and skipping the first - the author strongly recommends against it. You fall into the trap of automating what is there, versus, examining and making sure you have the right customer-centric strategy first.
I have read many books covering the topic and rate both of these as tops in the field of customer relationship management.

Knowledge Politics: Governing the Consequences of Science and Technology (Political Economy of the World-System Annuals)
Nico Stehr Manufacturer: Paradigm Publishers ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 1594510873 |
Book Description
This book argues that new technologies and society's response to them have created a relatively new phenomenon, 'knowledge politics'. Nico Stehr describes Western society's response to a host of new technologies developed only since the 1970s, including genetic experiments, test-tube human conception, recombinant DNA and embryonic stem cells; genetically engineered foods, neurogenetics and genetic engineering, and reproductive cloning and the reconstruction of the human ancestral genome. He looks also at the prospective fusion of nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, transgenic human engineering and cognitive science whose products may, as its boosters claim, some day cure disease, slow the aging process, eliminate pollution and generally enhance human performance.

GOVERNING INTERESTS: BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS FACING INTERNATIONALIZATION (Routledge Studies in International Business and the World Economy)
Manufacturer: Routledge ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0415364868 |
Book Description
The conceptual and empirical papers included in this significant volume come together to address the question of how interaction between business associations and government is affected by Europeanization and globalization. Whilst some papers adopt a bird's eye view, others concentrate on individual industries or countries, and several, through examination and analysis, consider the effects on interest representation and the repercussions on effective governance.
Contributed to and edited by leading academics, the diversity of research questions and methods used provide the reader with an excellent understanding of the subject, and importantly, caution against rash simplifications. This text will be of particular relevance to political scientists and sociologists.

Governing the Asia Pacific: Beyond the 'New Regionalism' (Third Worlds)
Manufacturer: Palgrave Macmillan ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 1403932603 |
Book Description
Governing the Asia Pacific examines the main contours of regional governance in the Asia Pacific. It suggests that prevailing theories of regional co-operation in the Asia Pacific fail to pay due heed to the manner in which regional integration is rooted in domestic coalitions, and economic strategies and state forms that prevailed in the boom years of the "Asian Miracle". It goes on to argue that the collapse of the developmentalist project has given way to the new regulatory state which in turn spawns new forms of regulatory regionalism that place a heavy accent on policy co-ordination and harmonization.

Manufacturer: Edward Elgar Publishing ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 1843760142 |

Political scientists, economists and lawyers provide ideas and analytical frameworks to deal with global environmental problems. Applications to climate changes, biodiversity, acid rains and ozone layer depletion are also discussed, thus providing information of interest to both academic researchers and policymakers.

Governing the Transatlantic Conflict over Agricultural Biotechnology: Contending Coalitions, Trade Liberalisation and Standard Setting (Routledge Studies in International Business and the World Economy)
Joseph Murphy , and Les Levidow Manufacturer: Routledge ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 041537328X |
Book Description
The decision of the Environment Council of the European Union (EU) to impose a moratorium on the authorization of new genetically modified crops and foods has led to a high profile trade conflict with the United States. This book analyses the EU-US conflict over GMOs and uses it to explore the governance of new a technology.
Although a lot has been written about the EU-US conflict over GMOs this book discusses aspects of the case that are rarely, if ever, reported and examined. This is particularly so with respect to the roles played by various transatlantic networks of stakeholders and the links between public controversy and changes in regulatory science in the EU and the US. This book will also deal with the EU-US conflict over GMOs as a case study through which to discuss broader issues, focusing particularly on how the case contributes to our understanding of the governance of new technology.
This accessible book will appeal to undergraduate and post-graduate students, academics and policy makers working on a wide range of issues including international relations, politics, economics, geography, business management, environmental and development studies, science and technology studies.

Governing the World Economy (Themes for the 21st Century)
Diane Coyle Manufacturer: Polity Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0745623646 |
Book Description
The global financial crisis of 1997-8 revealed that emerging market nations as well as the developed economies are vulnerable to the forces of globalization. It highlighted the need for the governance of the world economy to catch up with the pace and degree of integration through trade and financial markets. This book argues passionately in favour of the benefits of free markets, despite the crisis. Coyle argues that the freedom to exchange and invest is valuable in itself, like other freedoms, and that it is also the only sure route to economic development. Further liberalization of trade and investment, appropriately regulated, is essential if developing countries are to attain higher living standards. Economic growth, in turn, will slow population growth and create a constituency for environmental action in the developing world.Coyle also makes the case for a reassessment of the role and capabilities of the international financial institutions. She argues that these need to reflect a more even balance of power, despite the dominance of the US in today's world economy, and that they need to live up to their own rhetoric of transparency and accountability. Chapters on trade and financial markets look in particular at the role of the WTO and IMF, the key villains on the world stage in the eyes of many progressive development campaigners. The book also addresses the shifting political economy of international governance, looking at the way information technology has led to the development of a global opposition to the inter-governmental organizations. This book will be read by students of economics and politics, and all those interested in debates about the nature and trajectory of the world economy.

Governing the World's Money (Cornell Studies in Political Economy)
Manufacturer: Cornell University Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 080144019X |
Book Description
The effective governance of global money and finance is under enormous stress. Deep changes over the last decade in capital markets, exchange rate systems, and government finances suggest dramatic shifts in the contours of monetary power, with tensions rising between the functional logic of international economics and the geographic logic of state-centered politics. Governing the World's Money assesses those tensions and the prospects for their peaceful resolution.Governing the World's Money surveys the frontiers of the global monetary system in ten original essays. Leading scholars of international relations and economics explore the evolution of the instruments available to policy officials for monetary governance. As they analyze the contemporary reordering of political authority in a market-oriented global economy, they open new pathways for the study of regional monetary integration and international institutional reform.

Swords into Dow Shares: Governing the Decline of the Military-Industrial Complex
Rachel Weber Manufacturer: Westview Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0813397901 |
Book Description
A provocative critique of corporate governance in the United States that uses the example of defense contracting to challenge the assumptions underlying our current understanding of how and in whose interests corporations should behave.Contemporary legal doctrine holds that corporate managers have obligations, first and foremost, to maximize profits for their shareholders. This doctrine is based on the assumption that shareholders alone bear the financial risks and contribute the equity necessary for production. But what if other groups contribute assets and also risk losing their investments? What if other groups actually shelter shareholders from financial risks? Such is the case with the nation's prime defense contractors. By examining the case of defense contracting, where the federal government and, indirectly, the taxpayers assume most of the risks and costs of producing weaponry, Rachel Weber critiques the assumptions underlying our system of corporate governance.
The Department of Defense provides contracts for billions of dollars, specialized components and facilities, interest subsidies, tax breaks, and regulatory relief. These public contributions make the record shareholder returns and executive compensation packages of the early 1990s all the more problematic. This book follows the case of General Dynamics, the nation's largest military shipbuilder and considered a trendsetter in the industry for its explicit shareholder orientation. The behavior of contractors like General Dynamics in the post-Cold War period raises serious concerns about the private stewardship of public funds. How can the government make contractors accountable to other public interests? In From Swords into Dow Shares Rachel Weber offers some original suggestions for redirecting defense resources to foster innovation, decrease the tax burden of military spending, and help to retain and create high-wage jobs in a civilian-industrial economy.
