Book Description

How to successfully apply the principles of customer care in any company

Most organizations today recognize the importance of improving customer care—the need to go beyond traditional customer service and truly manage customers as assets—but only about 6% apply its principles effectively. This book fully explains the three stages in the evolution of customer care. Readers will be guided through the process of acquiring customers, retaining them through segmentation and management of the relationship, and targeting their most significant marketing efforts to the most profitable segments.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Strategic Customer Care -- basic marketing with old fads.......2001-11-11

The book rehashes various old fads and repeats some very basic marketing principles (such as the value of segmentation) that can be found in any basic marketing textbook. I could not find any new ideas in the book, which seems rather useless.

5 out of 5 stars Holistic guideline for managing customer service.......2000-04-03

Brown introduces the reader step by step into the evolution an enterprise has to undergo in order to obtain customer loyalty. Book Description

The end of the 20th century finds the Atlantic Alliance partners in evolution toward a new relationship in the key policy arenas of regional and international security, international trade and competition, and the need to deal effectively with environmental and public health problems associated with an expanding global marketplace. In response to this situation, the Clinton Administration and the European Union initiated a series of efforts under the framework of a `New Transatlantic Agenda'. The purpose of these efforts was to strengthen the communication and ties between the EU and the United States in a variety of functional areas. Security, Trade, and Environmental Policy: A US/European Union Transatlantic Agenda contributes to this dialogue.
The volume focuses on a European and American perspective of the issues of international security, world trade, and the globalization/environmental policy interface. It includes contributions from public officials and scholars from both Europe and the United States, and as such provides valuable insights into the mind set of these individuals and their views on desirable policy directions for both Europe and the US on matters affecting international security, on the next generation of world trade policy, and on the interface between trade policy and environmental policy.

        Book Description

Building civil society and nurturing democracy has become part of mainstream development discourse. But while some NGOs are taking the lead in this work, others still lack the skills needed to assume new roles in policy advocacy for social and economic justice. Advocacy for Social Justice is a direct and interactive response to this growing need.

Based on a legacy of experience from the Advocacy Institute and Oxfam America, this volume is the first comprehensive guide for worldwide social and economic justice advocates. Intended for the practitioner, trainer, teacher and student of activism, it explores the elements of advocacy and offers a toolkit for taking action, comprehensive case studies, as well as hundreds of resource listings.

          Book Description

Bestselling author Bill McKibben turns activist in the first hands-on guidebook to stopping climate change, the world's greatest threat Hurricane Katrina. A rapidly disappearing Arctic. The warmest winter on the East Coast in recorded history. The leading scientist at NASA warns that we have only ten years to reverse climate change; the British government's report on global warming estimates that the financial impact will be greater than the Great Depression and both world wars-combined. Bill McKibben, the author of the first major book on global warming, The End of Nature, warns that it's no longer time to debate global warming, it's time to fight it. Drawing on the experience of Step It Up, a national day of rallies held on April 14, McKibben and the Step It Up team of organizers provide the facts of what must change to save the climate and show how to build the fight in your community, church, or college. They describe how to launch online grassroots campaigns, generate persuasive political pressure, plan high-profile events that will draw media attention, and other effective actions. This essential book offers the blueprint for a mighty new movement against the most urgent challenge facing us today.

              Book Description

Written by over 20 leading international economists, this book offers "win-win" scenarios to economic problems. As in the other volumes of this set of public policy handbooks, the Handbook of Global Economic Policy employs a unique organizational principle: from viewing economic problems from conservative and liberal perspectives, to developing practical, non-ideological solutions to the problems, and finally testing the solution's feasibility in terms of economic, administrative, political, psychological, legal, international, and technological obstacles. The authors confront conventional wisdom about tradeoffs between unemployment and inflation, economic growth and displaced workers, and capitalism and socialism.

                Book Description

The first Handbook of original articles by leading scholars of global environmental politics, this landmark volume maps the latest theoretical and empirical research in this young and growing field. Captured here are the dynamic and energetic debates over concerns for the health of the planet and how they might best be addressed. The introductory chapters explore the intellectual trends and evolving parameters in the field of global environmental politics. They make a case for an expansive definition of the field, one that embraces an interdisciplinary literature on the connections between global politics and environmental change. The remaining chapters are divided into three broad themes - states, governance and security; capitalism, trade and corporations; and knowledge, civil societies and ethics - with each section providing a cohesive discussion of current issues. In-depth explorations are given to topics such as: global commons, renewable energy, the effectiveness of environmental cooperation, regulations and corporate standards, trade liberalization and global environmental governance, and science and environmental citizenship. A comprehensive survey of the latest research, the Handbook is a necessary reference for scholars, students and policymakers in the field of global environmental politics.

Featuring a pragmatic approach to coping with the legal complications surrounding pretrial release, drug-related crime, and freedom of religion, among other issues, this timely reference presents a host of legal policy problems in diverse political and cultural settings throughout the world. Contributors bridge the academic gulf between worldwide and public policy studies, as well as the ideological gap between liberal and conservative attitudes toward constitutional law, individual liberty, public safety, and human rights.
