A must in Marketing Research.......2007-01-28
KEEP IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR CARREER!.......2005-10-05
Only consumer market research, no medical or industrial.......2001-01-19
Coverage of traditional methods is sound and thorough, and the internet market research techniques tend to stick to the conversions from traditional methods. Viral marketing and monitoring are over-looked, probably because few people call such activities market research. Overall, the book is generally well-written.
Two criticisms: With time and budget such a large part of the entire market research field, the book has few numbers in that regard, making it seem less practical than it actually is. Second, the examples start at clearly defined objectives. While it discusses the importance of clear objectives, it conveys it in an academic and simplified manner, not addressing the analytics of turning a vague forecast or planning need into a clear study objective.
As a general market research and survey reference, we at Documus give it good marks.
A thorough and methodical work on Marketing Research.......2000-01-09
Following the book you will be able to create and execute a complete marketing research program. I have used this book in a number of projects and the results were pleasing.
Do not read this book unless you intend to use it. It is a difficult book for people who have average business knowledge.
An excellent textbook for MBA's........1999-04-15

Book Description
This book is helpful for importers as well as exporters of apparel and textiles to the USA. Exporters from different countries will hopefully make use of the information I share in this book. The book targets importers, exporters, business executives, textile industry professionals, students, etc. Before I mention what this book is all about, let me remark on how the idea of writing first came about. I have been associated with international trade for over 20 years. Having lived in both Pakistan and the US, I have been able to obtain a vast knowledge on importing and exporting. I have also traveled extensively throughout the world, which has enabled me to gain a great deal of exposure, knowledge, and information on global trade. Over time, the idea of putting all my experiences together began to develop in my mind. I am not aware of any other book that serves as a complete guide for importers and exporters of apparel and textiles to the USA.
In the book, I have tried to pass on my knowledge of business to both importers and exporters. The book discusses different steps one needs to take in setting up a business. It explains everything from the advantages of the export business and the production of apparel to making a practical entry into the US apparel and textile market. It also provides valuable information to entrepreneurs in the US and elsewhere, who might be interested in importing apparel and textiles from Pakistan. This information will save a tremendous amount of time for any importer or exporter, especially beginners. It is designed to give a head start to any entrepreneur.
I have tried to keep this book error free to the best of my ability, but I apologize if any mistakes or inaccuracies are found or if there is a disagreement on an opinion.
The book is divided into two parts.
Part 1: Export to the USA This part provides a wealth of information for exporters around the world who want to sell their products to the US. It covers topics in depth, including methods of finding US buyers, market research, important trade shows, options of selling, web sites of designers and large US chain stores, garment production, apparel machinery, fashion and color forecasting information, and much more!
Part 2: Import from Pakistan This part serves as a guide for importers on how to acquire apparel and textiles from Pakistan. It provides information on how to reach Pakistani manufacturers, exporters, and more.

Free Trade and Uneven Development: The North American Apparel Industry After NAFTA
Manufacturer: Temple University Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 1566399688 |
Book Description
This volume addresses many of the complex issues raised by North American integration through the lens of one of the largest and most global industries in the region: textiles and apparel. In part, this is a story of winners and losers in the globalization process, especially if one focuses on jobs lost and jobs gained in different countries and communities within North America, defined here as: Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. However, it would be a mistake to view the industry solely in these zerosum terms. The North American apparel industry is an excellent illustration of larger trends in the global economy, in which regional divisions of labor appear to be one of the most stable and effective responses to globalization. The contributors to this volume are an international and interdisciplinary group of scholars who have all done detailed fieldwork at the firm and factory levels in one or more countries of North America. Taken together the essays offer theoretical and methodological innovations built around the intersection of the global commodity chains and industrial districts literatures, as well as innovative approaches to studying the impact of cross-national, interfirm networks in terms of production and trade issues, and local development outcomes for workers and communities.

The World Market for Babies Garments and Clothing Accessories of Knitted or Crocheted Textile Fabrics: A 2007 Global Trade Perspective
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497599430 Release Date: 2006-09-28 |
Product Description
On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners approaching the world market face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying babies garments and clothing accessories of knitted or crocheted textile fabrics? What is the dollar value of these imports? How much do the imports of babies garments and clothing accessories of knitted or crocheted textile fabrics vary from one country to another? Do exporters serving the world market have similar market shares across the importing countries? Which countries supply the most exports of babies garments and clothing accessories of knitted or crocheted textile fabrics? Which countries are buying their exports? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers? In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing the regional markets for imported and exported babies garments and clothing accessories of knitted or crocheted textile fabrics. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for each region, is based on a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the shares that countries are likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information for strategic planning purposes.
