All of Tammy Powley's books are filled with helpful information and instructions. This book is no exception. Beside the many interesting and unique designs, she offers invaluable information on seed beads and related techniques. The instructions and their illustrations are very clear and easy to follow.

I loved this book! I make jewelry, but I don't make seed bead pieces. Therefore, I was curious to explore a book which carefully and mindfully explained how to weave with seed beads, from start to finish.
Tammy Powley has provided me with a great beginning and I feel certain that I will not get confused or lose my way when I try the projects in the book. In addition, the incorporation of stones and crystals is a wonderful incentive to me to try the projects! I like the concept she has written about concerning the peaceful feeling you get when seed beading weaving. I could use some of that!

The book is beautifully photgraphed. It offers a great introductory set of chapters, for neophytes like me, and also a great gallery of beautiful projects at the end. I recognize and enjoyed seeing many names in the gallery of some of my favorite jewlery designers.

I know I will refer to this book frequently as I make my way through the early stages (and the later ones as well) of seed beading.

Good little booklet from past articles/projects of the Bead & Button magazine. This is off loom needle woven beadwork. All are do-able projects and contain no surprises. Very reasonable price!

Seed Bead Chains.......2006-08-19

This book helped me to learn spiral seed bead chains. Some of the directions were too basic for me and some of the directions weren't clear enough for me. The key word here is patience. If you have the patience to read and re-read and re-read again and again to figure things out, this might be an okay booklet for you. If not, you might want to seek out another book with clearer directions. Just my opinion. I am an intermediate beader so I am writing this to beginners who might buy this and be disappointed if they have to struggle to get a project complete. It's a good booklet for intermediate and advanced seedbead workers

great patterns.......2006-04-04

I bought this book last Fall and made two different types of necklaces for Christmas gifts...everyone loved them! The patterns are easy to follow and fun to make. Worth the money!

Easy-Does-It but Beautiful!.......2005-09-09

First time I've managed to make necklaces with seed beads and not give up after the first hour! Great directions - easy to follow even though I'm left handed. Have made two different necklaces and can't wait to make the others. Great fun and everyone loves them.

This is an excellent collection from Bead and Button magazine. The photos are clear. There is a 'shopping list' for each project and well written directions. Even though I have subcribed to Bead and Button for several years, this is a great collection of seed bead projects.I appreciate the variety of projects. Now I don't have to dig through piles of magazines to find a cool project.

Small book, big help.......2001-03-21

This slim,80-page, 5" X 8" paperback carries a big punch. It doesn't waste space, it's well organized, the finished bags are shown in detail in a color section. Instead of the popular peytote stitch, these bags are worked in brick stitch, a technique that creates a comfortable, flexible weave. Elbe doesn't leave you hanging for details. The instructions include fringe and strap directions, too. The book is mainly about bags, but it does include earrings, ornaments and bracelets.

In today's world where "intuitive" is often overused and overrated, Elbe delivers a traditional table of contents. It's clear and concise. The TOC is followed by a list of material, complete with illustrations.

In addition to basic brick stitch, Elbe also shows herringbone weave, right-angle weave and bead crochet. The diagrams are exceptionally clear. When the going gets rough Elbe makes suggestions how to get through the difficult section. Even experienced beaders need that kind of help.

Elbe shows how to decrease herringbone weave, but not how to increase. She does the same for right-angle weave. It's not clear why increasing is left out.

On the technical side, the instructions are in black and white. Each pattern is shown twice: once to show the shape and entire fringe and once to show the body of the purse in detail. Different colors of beads are represented by black and white patterns. Some of the patterns are hard to distinguish, even in the larger detail drawing. It's a hard problem to solve in black and white. It may have been easier to code using letters or numbers instead of small-scale patterns.

The book is a strong addition to any beading library..

Back to Beadin' contains so much more than delightful new designs for amulet bags and earrings woven with the brick stitch. You'll find interesting fringe treatments, different neckpieces, instructions for crocheting cords and herringbone and right-angle weaves, as well as a discussion of various beads and tools. A wonderful place for a beginner to dive into beading, as well as new water for those of us who weave our bags with peyote stitch.

Back to Beadin' is a definite "must have" for all beaders........1998-01-04

With the easy to follow graphs and instructions, Back to Beadin' is the perfect book for all beaders from beginning to advanced levels. The excellent color charts allow you to easily make bead substitutions, if you so prefer. I have made several of the projects from this book and found that the graphs and instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to make an exceptional piece of beadwork.

I love Elbe's books, they are very easy to follow and contain many patterns for the money. This book has some wonderful hummingbird patterns for brick stitch pouches as well as fringe ideas. It contains 10 different pouches and other interesting things.

The artist of this book,Barbara Elbe, takes you into that dimmension of Beadwork that you wanted to go to and couldn't find before. Easy to follow instructions ,graphs and photos. Each amulet bag pattern was pure heaven to create and appreciated by the beader, the wearer, and the observer.Also,the many diversified stitches for the different patterns taught me what I would have never learned from just one small book. This is a must have for anyone who loves beads, espescially Delicas! I would buy any following book of hers sight unseen. I see Ms.Elbe as my bead mentor. An Artist with incredible insight for detail, and exhibits her love for birds,and animals as well as scenery such as 'The Village'.

Having just been sent a copy of David Freemantle's latest book I can totally recommend it. David uses live examples from many different companies across the world and it is one of those management books that you don't put down. Page after page of common sense combined with a real understanding of the problems that organisations are having as we approach this new age of opportunity. David explains has given many examples of organisations that can prove that by caring about people you can be incredibly successful. A great read for any leader that wants to unleash the potential of people across the business. We are all still learning and David's book leaves you with the feeling that with belief anything is possible.
