Income Tax Guide for Ministers and Religious Workers.......2000-06-18
This book is a very helpful in knowing what to expect in anticipating ministry expenses especially for ministers returning to full time ministry. It helps make decisions about tax verses non-tax issues such as parsonage expenses. The forms included in the book are great for knowing exactly what they look like and how to fill them out.

Pathetic.......1999-11-20

Freedomnomics: Why the Free Market Works and Other Half-Baked Theories Don't
ASIN: 0275987507 |
Book Description
Budget deficits, gas prices, health care costs, social security, job security.... Anxiety over the economy pervades our daily lives--from reports on the early morning newscasts to gossip around the water cooler to dinner table debate. Yet most citizens are woefully ignorant when it comes to understanding how the economy works and how to interpret the impact of policies and business decisions. It's easy to slip into generalities: government spending is wasteful, taxes are too high, good-paying jobs are being shipped overseas, Americans don't save enough. Other issues become hijacked by political partisans to advance their agendas: "trade must be fair!", "tax cuts will pay for themselves!", "there will be no money left in the social security till after the baby boomers loot it!" In Smart Economics, Michael Walden provides an antidote: take 50 of today's top economic issues and explain their meaning, implications, and potential solutions in a logical, straightforward, commonsense, and non-partisan way. From "Has Government Spending Been out of Control?" to "Is Profit Bad?" to "Why Are Pro Sports Stars Paid So Much?" Walden demystifies the "dismal science," using basic concepts and logical argumentation to help readers get their bearings--to separate fact from fiction and ultimately make better decisions, when it comes to spending, investing, saving, and voting. The result is an entertaining and informative introduction to economic principles and their influence on our behavior.

Great Book; very helpful........2006-11-06
This is a great book for someone new to couponing. I have learned a lot from it already, and I am only half way through! I highly recommend it.
Very simple to understand and practice.......2006-05-31
Faye Prosser's, The Smart Spending Guide, is a very informative book that takes the guess work out of using coupons and saving money on a daily basis. If you think coupons are worthless, read Prosser's book...you will be amazed at the savings you can achieve using her guide. It is a very easy reader.
This book is AMAZING!.......2006-03-04
Faye Prosser's book is the perfect "handbook" for savings. Her tips and suggestions are simple to incorporate into your life, without feeling like you're living a "frugal" existence. Quite the contrary; your life will *literally* be richer if you follow her methods suggested in her book. This book is truly an investment in your future. I highly recommend it!
Practical advice in an impratical world.......2006-03-04
Faye really reaches people on a personal level and in simple terms shows you how to pile on the savings, and cut down on expenses. From novice to expert, there is something for everyone in this guide.
From SherriAllen.com.......2006-01-18
Whether you need help stretching your paycheck from month to month or you just want to build your retirement nest egg, the advice and tips provided by Faye Prosser in her book, The Smart Spending Guide, will teach you how to get the most from your hard-earned money. I know, because I learned Prosser's grocery shopping techniques while editing the book and have been experiencing big savings for the past few months. Note: I was hired to edit the book and paid for my services. I have no stake in the success of the book and am not receiving any compensation based on book sales.
The Smart Spending Guide begins with a solid introduction to debt-reduction and budgeting and even includes helpful worksheets. Then, you get to my favorite part of the book, the grocery system. Prosser gives you an easy-to-follow lesson in combining several money-saving shopping techniques to maximize your grocery savings, including where to find coupons (did you know you can BUY coupons?), how to organize your coupons (the bottom of your purse just doesn't work!), where to buy food (it's not always the grocery store), planning your grocery shopping trips, and much, much more. Next, there are several chapters full of useful information about frugal living. The frugal tips provided in The Smart Spending Guide cover a wide range of topics, showing you how to save money on meals (adding to the grocery shopping strategy), gifts, vacations, and your health and well-being, as well as around the house and more. Finally, the book provides some suggestions and resources for making extra money and presents ideas and motivation for continued saving.
Thanks to Prosser's conversational style of writing, The Smart Spending Guide is very easy to read. As you go through the book, if feels as if she's a friend imparting helpful advice. The grocery system is well-explained and made to seem simple, so you won't be too overwhelmed to give it a try. The frugal sections are smart and mainstream; easily adopted by busy people living in modern times. Prosser has avoided the more radical ideas often found in frugal-living books which end up intimidating beginners, such as 101 ways to recycle dryer lint or goat farming to save money on milk.
The Smart Spending Guide is perfect for frugal beginners and people who are already moderately frugal. People who don't know anything about frugal living will be amazed. The moderately frugal will pick up a few extra good ideas and be motivated to try more. I highly recommend The Smart Spending Guide. After all, I saved more than the book's purchase price on my first grocery shopping trip!

Book Description
Since its founding in the nineteenth century, social anthropology has been seen as the study of exotic peoples in faraway places. But today more and more anthropologists are dedicating themselves not just to observing but to understanding and helping solve social problems wherever they occur—in international aid organizations, British TV studios, American hospitals, or racist enclaves in Eastern Europe, for example.
In Exotic No More, an initiative of the Royal Anthropological Institute, some of today's most respected anthropologists demonstrate, in clear, unpretentious prose, the tremendous contributions that anthropology can make to contemporary society. They cover issues ranging from fundamentalism to forced migration, child labor to crack dealing, human rights to hunger, ethnicity to environmentalism, intellectual property rights to international capitalisms. But Exotic No More is more than a litany of gloom and doom; the essays also explore topics usually associated with leisure or "high" culture, including the media, visual arts, tourism, and music. Each author uses specific examples from their fieldwork to illustrate their discussions, and 62 photographs enliven the text.
Throughout the book, the contributors highlight anthropology's commitment to taking people seriously on their own terms, paying close attention to what they are saying and doing, and trying to understand how they see the world and why. Sometimes this bottom-up perspective makes the strange familiar, but it can also make the familiar strange, exposing the cultural basis of seemingly "natural" behaviors and challenging us to rethink some of our most cherished ideas—about gender, "free" markets, "race," and "refugees," among many others.

Book Description
Why do so many Americans-working harder and longer and with less security than ever before-question the price of success demanded by today's hot-wired economy? Can you work and still have a life? Paula Rayman says, is yes. In this timely book, she offers a powerful blueprint for transforming the world of work, family, and community that is the downside of our relentlessly competitive culture. In this much-needed wake-up call to corporate America, Rayman shows why companies must go beyond the bottom line to survive and thrive. Drawing on her experience as a leading advocate for a more responsive workplace, she demonstrates how companies can organize for profit, productivity, and the desire of workers for a more rewarding quality of life. In a win-win agenda for changing outmoded organizations, she demonstrates convincingly that all successful transformations create workplaces that respect the need for dignity: security, self-respect, and the time and freedom to care for family and community.
Customer Reviews:
Paula Rayman is an idiot.......2007-01-06
Paula is a name-dropping, pretentious, self-serving author who pretends to be an economist but is really neither a capable quantitative nor a particularly insightful ethnographic scholar.
Ellen Ostrow,.......2002-11-25
I wish this book was required reading for every attorney I coach - and the managing partners of every law firm. Paula Rayman presents an compelling argument for law firms to examine
the consequences of their bottom line approach to doing business.
The billable hours culture, which places greatest value on overwork and heroic individualism, hurts families, diminishes the care of children and elders, reduces the possibilities for the success of women attorneys, limits the dignity of lawyers, makes lawyers abandon their civic responsibilities - and ultimately erodes the fabric of our society.
Rayman provides a sophisticated social, economic and moral analysis of the problem and offers both conceptual solutions and specific examples of their success. Rayman offers wise
counsel to the counselors.
Book Description
New social workers have asked for a casebook such as this that related directly to situations they were encountering in the field. This book answers that need. Useful and practical examples of ethical problems, information necessary to their proper resolution, and the thought processes were edited, revised, and arranged to support and reflect the six Ethical Standards in the new National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics, enacted in August 1996. Clear and readable cases present examples drawn form child welfare, work with families, medical social work, social justice, and others. New social workers.

From the author: This study reports on the results of a survey of 378 MSW students that asked about their attitudes regarding the efficacy and the ethics of online psychotherapeutic services (e-therapy). The students' perceptions varied considerably, but there was a moderately strong association between the belief that the ethical requirements of practice can be met online and positive attitudes about the efficacy of e-therapy. Students had little direct experience with e-therapy and generally did not discuss the issue in practice classes. Implications for social work education are discussed and suggestions are made for incorporating e-therapy content into the practice curriculum.

Book Description
Taxing America provides the first historical study of Wilbur Daigh Mills, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee from 1958 to 1974. The work of Mills, an extremely influential politician between 1945 and 1975, offers considerable insights into the evolution of income taxation, Social Security and Medicare--three policies at the center of today's political debates. Unlike the existing historical scholarship, Zelizer's book focuses on the role of Congress, rather than the executive branch, in the evolution of the welfare state during this seminal period.
