How To Be A Successful Trader.......2001-07-01
There is a great deal of information that you have to know to be a successful trader and investor in the stock market. Doug Sutton is an extremely successful trader and an excellent teacher and brings all the important basic information together in an easy to understand format about how to research stocks and equity options and make successful trades. This includes detailed explanations of the important fundamentals of a stock and what they mean, a good discussion of the technical indicators, cycles of stocks, a discussion of sectors and trading on news about a stock including what news is important and the timing of the news. Also, he tells you how to find a good broker and the role of the market makers. He thorougly discusses Covered Calls, Spreads and Naked Puts giving step by step reasons and rules for entering these trades. He tells you how to "stop the bleeding" when the trade goes against you. Focusing your trading activities and balancing your portfolio and trades is a major part of his book. There are many other topics discussed in his book, and I have only hit the highlights. I have read many books on trading, and this one is definitely a must for the beginning trader and the not so novice trader who wants to increase his knowledge and perfect his trading style and skills.
Mr. Sutton, a great teacher.......2001-05-28
I don't know anything about the book other than a brief description but if the book is written like he teaches it is a winner.

Book Description
In business, politics, marriage, indeed in any significant relationship, trust is the essential precondition upon which all real success depends. But what, precisely, is trust? How can it be achieved and sustained? And, most importantly, how can it be regained once it has been broken? In Building Trust, Robert C. Solomon and Fernando Flores offer compelling answers to these questions. They argue that trust is not something that simply exists from the beginning, something we can assume or take for granted; that it is not a static quality or "social glue." Instead, they assert that trust is an emotional skill, an active and dynamic part of our lives that we build and sustain with our promises and commitments, our emotions and integrity. In looking closely at the effects of mistrust, such as insidious office politics that can sabotage a company's efficiency, Solomon and Flores demonstrate how to move from naive trust that is easily shattered to an authentic trust that is sophisticated, reflective, and possible to renew. As the global economy makes us more and more reliant on "strangers," and as our political and personal interactions become more complex, Building Trust offers invaluable insight into a vital aspect of human relationships.

Great book!.......2006-07-21
I am a big Heidegger fan, and it is refreshing to see an alternative to trusting that doesn't include game theory, cognitivism, intellectualism, and the like. It's great for entrepeneurs!
sometimes distrust can be equally important .......2005-05-13
i have been buying books for a while and learned alot from them school doesn't teach enough for people to be professional in any way possible. its up to you fill in the blanks. when you start to read this book you might start to feel warm inside because you have the inside track to life. this is not true. he mentions how trust is the basis of society and that it would fall apart without it. from a scientific-historical point of view this is not the case. aristotle held that if man could not think up of how something works, then it doesn't exist. we waited until rene dekar to tell us that science is man trying to discover what nature already knows. thanks to him most of our medicines are chemical replications of herbs found in nature. the point is that a healthy willingness to trust or distrust based on real understanding, is the point of view you need to read this book. also another point to make is that everyone has something he or she wants. if you position yourself to fill that desire while following this book you probably have a wining formula in getting what you want. this book should not be accepted at face value, it should be put under scrutiny but there is alot of valuable info in here.
Trust as a Social Practice.......2005-02-17
Good distinctions on trust, in particular the whole concept as trust as a "social practice," which includes the possibility for addressing mistakes and betrayals constructively vs. trust as a "solid thing," which can be fragile and thus shattered forever.
So many discussions on trust center on assessing trust "out there" (i.e., how do you know whether someone is trustworthy or not). The authors underscore the importance of being trusting and having self trust "inside" (an ontological state vs. an analytical exercise), focusing on the relationship as well as outcomes, and the transformative nature of extending trust into a relationship.
I enjoyed the discussion on entrepreneurship -- that the heroic individual entrepreneur can only be successful by working with and through entire "networks of trust." So many entrepreneurs fail because they fail to master the "practice" of building trust, relying instead on their own inventiveness.
I highly recommend the book and would have given five stars if the writing had been a bit tighter. For serious practitioners (organizational development, coaching, management consulting), this book is worth reading and studying!
Establish or Re-establishing Trust in Work and Life.......2003-10-18
A decent book that needs to be read carefully. The author explores the ways that we view trust from all angles. Trust itself is sometimes a hard word to define. People have different definitions of trust and the authors bring clairity into this subject.
Basic trust - we are all born with this trait, as infants we are dependent on our parents for feeding and caring for us. We establish a foundation for trust at a very young age.
Simple trust - unconscious form of trust better known as our default trust. A lot of times we trust people we don't even know because we have to, like it or not. When you go to the super market and the person at the register tells you it cost xxx, you trust that they have calculated the amount correctly. When we ask directions to a location when in an unfamiliar town, we trust a person we don't even know to give us correct directions. People who have been betrayed at one time or another refer to this trust as the "naive trust".
Blind trust - is a trust in denial. When somebody has been presented with facts showing their trust has been taken advantage of but continue not to believe the facts that are contrary to a one's personal beliefs, the person turns to a state of denial not accepting the facts. Blind trust is not critical and unquestioning.
Conditional trust - rarely does any trust exsist without some type of condition attached to it. A business person trusts that his fellow colleagues will do their work but would you trust a work colleague to do perform a medical operation on one of your family members? We trust somebody to do something and once this person has completed the action we will proceed to do something in return for that person. We see this type of trust in politics quite often or between parents and children sometimes.
We do not think very deeply with simple trust, with blind trust we are fooling ourselves into deception. As the author states, "Authentic trust is both reflective and honest with itself and others." Corporations and democratic societies that have authentic trust are usually more productive and profitable than those without it. Employees who are very cynical and parinoid have experienced some type of mistrust which is a good sign of a disconnect between employees and management. The ways to start to re-establish trust is to bring it out in the open with dailogue and define what trust really is. There mere fact of talking about it helps a group of people establish some type of base to start from.
Philosophical discourse, not a how-to manual.......2003-02-26
Expectations that arise from our cultural backgrounds may cause us to be disappointed that this book is not a 'How To' manual, nor does it provide a blueprint for building or skillfully posessing some 'thing' called trust. Instead, the authors offer a philosophical discourse aimed at: exploring the cultural backgrounds that produce our (mis)understanding of trust; observing trusting in ourselves and others; developing a more powerful understanding of the meaning of trust; and developing practices and other competencies that will increase our capacity to trust, allowing us to enter into more powerful and satisfying relationships.
Those who have read Dr. Flores et al's Disclosing New Worlds, in which three specific historical narratives offer examples of particular political skills in action, may be disappointed that there are no similar in-depth narratives here. I think the ubiquity trust acts -- we are in situations of trust/mistrust in almost every moment of our lives -- precludes those kinds of narratives.
Book Description
No matter how successful a sales operation is, if customers don't pay their bills, the company is left holding the bag. Companies across the country are out billions of dollars in delinquent money. This book shows companies how to use a variety of new credit collection techniques to successfully collect their outstanding bills.
Download Description
Corporations are placing a greater emphasis on converting credit sales into bank deposits. In most cases, accounts receivable represent the company's most important asset. Conventional collection techniques have not kept pace with changing times. Various laws, debtor attitudes, the cost of money, liberal credit policies, and increased competition have created a brand-new climate. Yet credit executives and financial management continue to follow antiquated policies. The Collection Management Handbook shows them how to redefine their credit collection techniques.

Essential guide for anybody interested in credit.......2002-05-31
I have been working in the credit and collections field for approximately four years. I feel this book is an invaluable tool for both credit professionals and those starting out in the field. The chapters flow in a logical order. The language dispenses with most of the technical jargon, and if it is contained Mr. Dennis defines and outlines the terms. The best part about this books is that it was written recently, so it deals with a lot of the concerns credit managers have today. I also would endorse this book for classroom settings. It is certainly better than the antiquated credit textbooks I had to read in college. In conclusion, I recommend this book to anybody interested in credit, accounting, or general business practices.
Complete and Comprehensive.......2002-05-31
I found this book to be one of the most comprehensive books on this subject I have read. I appreciated the way in which the information was presented - both in terms of the way it was organized, but also the way it made complex ideas easy to understand. Dorothy Siegel. Credit Manager. Fast Memory Inc.

Working Pretty Good So Far.......2007-03-03
Most businesses typically give credit to their regular customers it increases sales, makes it more convenient for everyone involved, and is generally speaking good busines sense. But then there is the percentage who don't pay their bill. What do you do then?
In my case the amount owed to me was too small to interest a collection agency, but big enough that it would have a significant impact on my own income. I then got a copy of this book. The author claims to have a bunch of years of expeience in credit and debt collection. And the book reads like she knows what she is talking about.
Perhaps the most important thing is that there are a bunch of legal rules that limit what you can do. After that she gives you some ideas about what to say either on the phone or in a letter -- which are also on a CD included with the book.
I haven't gotten everything collected yet, and I can't say that I enjoy the process. But I've made pretty good progress and it's something that has to be done.
