Book Description
Walk into a bar or restaurant in Barcelona and chances are that you will enounter a beautiful tile pattern on the floor. In the late 19th century, mass reproduction of intricately designed floor tiles became possible, and they became a common feature in the interiors of buildings in cities all around the Mediterranean. In Barcelona, the design of such tiles reached its peak in the age of 'Modernismo', the Spanish variety of Art Nouveau, in the early 20th century. Barcelona Tile Designs features a colorful collection of carefully restored and digitized designs. Both single tiles and whole patterns and borders are shown, and the tiles on the CD make it possible to create designs in any shape and size. A great resource for design professionals and hobbyists alike.

Barcelona Tile Designs as a Designer's Tool.......2007-04-11
Designers, be they in graphics, fabrics, household products, or hobbiests can find wonderful ideas in this book. It is an excellent resource for designs with an Iberian influence from the late 1800's forward and includes a brief history of the tile making process. As a quilter who likes to deviate and/or expand upon traditional quilt blocks, I find such resources very helpful in using existing fabric prints as a jumping off point for borders, blocks, or over-all patterns. This is just one of several Agile Rabbit Editions I highly recommend. Baroque: Patterns (Agile Rabbit Editions)Floral Patterns (Agile Rabbit Editions S.)Renaissance (Agile Rabbit Editions) and many more.

Winston Churchill is one of the most extraordinary leaders the tumultuous twentieth century produced. Why did he see so clearly when those around him acted so blindly? What enabled him to stand steadfastly when those around him vacillated? How was he able to inspire whole nations to endure the unendurable and to achieve the unachievable when those around him surrendered all hope? In this remarkable new study of Churchill's legacy, Stephen Mansfield addresses these questions and shows us what lay at the core of Churchill's extraordinary character. The result is an inspiring portrait of a truly great leader.

Nicely done.......2007-07-31
Mr. Mansfield has done a very nice job. He writes with the presupposition that history is the outworking of the providence and plan of God, a presupposition I accept, and which I believe is overwhelmingly confirmed by history itself. We all view the world through our presuppositions, and none of us can claim "neutrality." Those who "ding" Mansfield for his Christianity or for illuminating the Christian faith of his subject miss the point of the book. Would you have us all live in the ghetto where the only view allowed is secular humanism? Thankfully, we still live in a country where one is allowed to have Christian presuppositions. It was Mansfield's purpose to write from this point of view. If you "ding" him for having that purpose, then are you not saying that there should no freedom to express opinions different from your own? I am most amused by the reviewer who implies that Mansfield cannot understand England because of that country's current spiritual condition. Surely Churchill's England was different from today's England. England's decline (and our own here in America) can be directly traced to abandoning the Author of our lives and freedoms. Mansfield makes the point that Churchill understood England's place in preserving the freedoms of its Christian heritage, not only for itself but also for the western civilization, against the Nazi threats (definitely not the forces of goodness and light).
This history is written by a Christian (Mansfield) about a Christian (Churchill). If Churchill was, indeed, someone who experienced true conversion to Christianity, then his faith would have permeated all that he was and did. It would and did give him the necessary heart and spirit to persevere under severe trial. Conversion is not a matter which has no impact upon the personal and professional life of a man - it will govern all that he is - his thinking and life.
What a great little book! I am also delighted to discover that Churchill, when asked whom he should like to be if he could not be himself, thought about it and answered "Mrs. Churchill's second husband." All of his manly achievements notwithstanding, that aspect of his character put him over the top in my estimation.
Riveting biography and writing.......2007-05-13
I'd recommend this book not "only" because of the great information on Churchill's life struggles and events. I'm recommending this book mainly due to the writer's superb writing. I never thought I'd read a biography in one sit. You just can't stop reading, your eyes roll through the text with so much ease and pleasure. You feel Churchill's hardships, his courage, his character. Great book.
provoking, intelligent, and sophisticated........2007-02-10
This book challenges you and tests your knowledge and paradigms.
I found it thought provoking, intelligent, and sophisticated.
This should be a must read for everyone who seeks truth and meaning.
Way to go Mr. Mansfield!!!
Diamonds Refined.......2005-12-04
Delight is an expected find when reading works on or about Winston Spencer Churchill. Joy is a confirmation when these works attain to the stature and measure of the man. Refreshment is the derivative when joy and delight meet in a polished offering such as 'Never Give In.'
Stephen Mansfield has once again done well and served all parties equally in dispensing this gleaned narrative of the Twentieth Century's self-recognized 'Great Man.'
A man's man for all seasons, highlights of the legendary Churchill are brought forth in a parade of honed chapters refined like glistening diamonds. Those seeking heavyweight analysis will even so finish the book satisfied, while newcomers will be impressed especially in these breathtaking times.
Mr. Mansfield wisely moves through Churchill's life subject by subject, examining deftly moments which shaped the Character that so helped weld the first half of this century just gone. Superlatives tax the description of this work that may, in the field of Churchillian retrospectives, become the essential tome for both those initiating study, as well as we who yearn for one more look at a superb man under fire.
The most excellent aspect of the work is Mansfield's examination of Churchill's testimony regarding Jesus, a subject far too long neglected. As is the practice learned from the Master, the best is always saved till last.

For Leaders, not avid Historians.......2004-05-31
In reading the reviews under this section, I find that a reader either loves this book or hates it - there is very little middle ground.
I believe those who discount this book are looking for an objective work on the history of Churchill. While this is a very fascinating subject, the market is saturated with such works, so if that is what you are looking for, go elsewhere...
Those who love the book don't seem to place such emphasis on its historical precision; rather on the value of the information as it pertains to their own lives and leadership styles.
I found this book to contain many great nuggets of wisdom and my highlighter saw much action as I poured through the pages.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their leadership qualities. If you are looking for a historical masterpiece, this isn't it nor did the author intend it to be...

Best book on the time management........2007-06-10
This is the best book I have read on the time management.
It covers not only the principles, but also the guidelines you can follow to improve your productivity.
I like to think of "earlier" as on time.......2007-01-05
Ever watch all your co-workers leaving on time while you stay and work into the night? Today, so many office workers are burning the late-night oil, especially office managers. Laura suggests, rightfully so, that this can be completely eliminated by staying focused on completing tasks during the day. Her tips for managing tasks and time are to the point, practical, and, most importantly, easy to remember and easy to implement. Laura has provided numerous articles for OfficeOurs magazine, all of which have been very popular with our office manager and office worker readers. There is good reason she is in such demand as a speaker and we are looking forward to her keynote presentation at our annual office manager conference and her future articles and books.
great productivity book.......2006-07-12
I found this book so useful, and it has certainly influenced my productivity. She had a lot of great, practical advice, written in an easy to use form. I would reccommend this book to anyone who needs to become more productive at work, and even at home. She has practical advice for home as well as work. It was worth my time to read this book (and I consider my time very valuable).
Leave the Office Earlier.......2005-10-14
I recommend this book for anyone who has lost the big picture of their life and where work fits into it. I have been very dissatified with work as of late. I feel like I work hard, I am there for long hours, but have not been as productive as others. Working through the exercises in the book has helped me more then I could have imagined! You have to do the work sheets. It is not a book to just skim through. As a result my goals are more streamline and priorites adjusted and as a result I get out of work earlier. I was spending time doings tasks that I felt were important but in reality were not. I just bought two more for my partners. Note I beleive this is very helpful for women, in particular, who spread themselves too thin and do too much multi-tasking. Women see all the little things at work that need done, do not necessarily delegate, and do those little things that others may not even notice. All of which in the end only waste time. I believe it is good for those work-a-holics who think they need to stay. On your death bed you will not say to yourself I should have spent more time at the office. Thank You. Nicole Bunch
Does this book come in a pill form?.......2005-03-16
All right - I need help. There, I've said it and I'm glad. Stack has worked in a corporate venue and, more importantly, is an entrepreneur running her own business which is what appealed to me. I don't have a whole bunch of people sitting around waiting to make me productive. Especially if you work on your own, you're going to find this book useful. Mind you, some of it doesn't apply to me (how to manage kids, etc.) since I'm long past that phase. But virtually everything else is on target with how I limit my own productivity. Her advice is 'street smart' and crystal clear - all I have to do is follow it. No guarantees there!

A Timesaver and Lifesaver.......2007-04-04
Organization is a breeze with these great tips. Best of all, they are very easy to implement in your own home.
must read for two wage-earner households.......2007-01-05
Today, with both members of many households working, organization at home is a must if we are to have any leisure time at all to enjoy. Laura's tips for getting things done at home and organizing your life are to the point, practical, and, most importantly, easy to remember and easy to implement. Laura has provided numerous articles for OfficeOurs magazine, all of which have been very popular with our office manager and office worker readers. There is good reason she is in such demand as a speaker and we are looking forward to her keynote presentation at our annual office manager conference and future articles and books.
These books are actually fun to read, and the ideas are easy to implement! .......2006-08-11
I have two of her productivity books, and recently saw her speak. I can only say this- she knows her stuff! Her systems are lifesavers and best of all she lives by the systems she teaches. Her books are the most fun read of any 'organizer'type books I have found (I have shelves of them that I started but never finished because they bored me or made no sense).
Recently I had the opportunity to be at a training where Laura spoke on organization and finding more time, I attended two of her sessions and they were incredible. She has a terrific sense of humor and so many great examples. And unlike those speakers who spend their time selling their merchandise or systems, you really know she is there because she wants to help people enhance their ability to get organized. I highly reccomend her as a speaker for any event you have.
Help for overwhelmed moms and dads.......2006-07-16
This book is a great resource for anyone who is overwhelmed by the stuff of life. I'm a work-at-home mom, but I'm extremely organizationally challenged. Because my "work" and my "home" all involve a multitude of jobs, I'm constantly sidetracked and distracted. I run around a lot, but often have little show for it. I did like "Leave the Office Earlier", but "Find More Time" was really what I was looking for as it covers everything that clogs up my brain and helps me sort it out with easy to follow tasks. I saw myself in the section about how "to-do's" are often "projects" and don't get done because they require too many steps. Now, my challenge is to implement and USE the ideas offered by Laura.

The Life and Times of Stack.......2007-10-04
Lu Nelson has treated these homespun yarns with exceptional sensitivity and detail to the extent possible. Even the storyteller, Stack, would agree if he were alive.
I knew this man for over thirty years........2007-07-01
Stack Hayward was a remarkable man and although Lue tried to capture that, by the time Stack was relating his life story to her, he had aged to the point where he had forgotten much of the facts and filled in gaps from supposition. For example, Diana, Ann's friend did not have a pig. The pigs were Arla Smith's, Willie and Sharon Walter's and Stack and Ann's. No one backed out of the deal. The pigs were butchered early because they became very expensive for all of us to feed. The end of the story is that Lue abandoned Stack after she had his story. He returned to live out the rest of his life with Ann Marie who cared for him personally until he passed.
