Book Description
Nothing can make a trip to Italy more enjoyable and rewarding than a great dining experience - but you have to know what to order! This handy guide helps readers navigate Italian menus while also steering people to some great Italian restaurants, bistros, cafes, wine shops, and food markets in Italy's big cities. Most of the book is a comprehensive menu reader, translating thousands of Italian words into English. There are also sections on restaurant etiquette, a pronunciation guide, English-to-Italian phrases and words and descriptions of the many different kinds of food and eating establishments in Italy.

Where to eat. What to eat!.......2007-10-17
Not only does this book have the most comprehensive menu translator available (and it really can save you from making some huge mistakes when ordering), but the restaurant recommendations are perfect if you're looking for excellent Italian dining. There are great recommendations for restaurants in Rome, Venice, Florence and Milan that we used on our last trip. We dined at moderate prices on great meals thanks to this pocket sized book. Highly recommended!
does the job.......2007-05-29
If you need a little help reading an Italian menu, this will do.

An updated edition of Eating & Drinking in Italy is now available!.......2006-03-20
I am one of the authors of Eating & Drinking in Italy. An updated edition of Eating & Drinking in Italy is now available. Search amazon for the fourth edition of this menu translator and restaurant guide. The new fourth edition includes an updated restaurant section with over 100 great places to eat in Italy!
Great resource if you don't know Italian.......2005-10-08
I recently visited Northern Italy. This was a very useful and handy book, not only for restaurants, but also grocery shopping, and discussing food items w/ the locals. I was very glad I had it tucked in my purse. I did not use the restaurant guide section, as I was not in the listed cities, except Venice (used Chow Venice as the resource there). I will likely purchase their other guides when I re-visit Spain and France.
Did not Find it Useful.......2005-09-30
I know some Italian and have traveled to Italy before.
This book does not help much, over a normal small dictionary and we found several instances where basic food items on menu were not even in this book.
I could not recommend it.
Eating & Drinking in Italy by Andy Herbach.......2004-07-27
I cannot praise Eating & Drinking in Italy enough. Complete with national dishes and local specialties all arranged in an easy to use and pleasing format, if you want to savor all the delicacies of Italian cuisine, wherever you travel in that country, do not leave home without Eating & Drinking in Italy.
- Douglas E. Morris, author of Italy Guide, Tuscany & Umbria Guide, and Rome Guide
Useful and Easy to Use!.......2001-08-17
I speak no more than 8-10 words of Italian. I used this book on a recent trip to Italy, and was able to understand almost every menu item I saw, and to order with confidence. It's a marvelous book! The alphabetical organization makes it really easy to use when you're sitting in a restaurant faced with three pages of Italian on a menu. (This review refers to the first edition of this book.)

Customer Reviews:
speck-tacular!.......2001-04-25
And you can use this book to find out just what speck is. We took this guide with us on our trip to a small town in Italy, where we could not count on finding English speakers in all restaurants. The large print and generous spacing made it easy to read even in low light, and the descriptions were all spot-on. We ordered a few things we might have skipped over without knowing what was in them, and were able to avoid things that trigger allergic reactions. And since we've gotten back, it's nice to page through and remember some of the fabulous meals!
Not as useful as I'd hoped.......2001-04-19
I recently returned from a two-week trip to Naples and Sorrento, Italy and was disappointed to find that a number of common Italian menu items were not listed. Examples were AUBERRGINES (eggplant), "ROCKET" SALAD , PARMA HAM, (just to mention a few). Based on my review of several different Italian menus, this book was of little practical use.
Worth More than it Costs.......2001-03-06
At This book may SEEM pricey, but it just may be the best value going for your trip to Italy. First, the compact format means that it nestles unobtrusively into an inside coat pocket. Second, the alphabetical listings make it easy to avoid costly confusion between, say, "marinara" (cooked in a tomato sauce with garlic and olives) and "marinata" (marinated in whatever). Third, the list of recommended Ristoranti is (for those that I tried) spot-on, saving the bulk and expense of, say, the Michelin "Red Guide" if you're tight on luggage space. Taken together, these factors mean that, if you're going to eat in Italy -- and, given the choice, who wouldn't? -- YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
Useful and Easy to Use!.......2000-10-26

The alphabetical organization makes it really easy to use when you're sitting in a restaurant faced with three pages of Italian on a menu.
I've ordered the similar volume for Spain for an upcoming trip there, and will always look for this series for future trips, even to countries where I can speak the language.
Inexpensive menu reader and restaurant guide.......1999-06-09
This menu reader is easy to use. Unlike other menu readers which are divided into categories (fish, soup, salad), this one is easy-to-use and alphabetically organized. The illustrations and comments are very clever and helpful.

The only guide of its kind?.......2006-02-20
Italy has such a rich gastronomic history and there are so few restaurant guide books that focus on this (with the exception of Florence and Tuscany). Many guide books only focus on the well-known, more touristy, places which I would prefer to skip. Zagat on-line only lists a few places. I have had the opportunity to dine at a few of the places listed and the experiences have been consistent with the reviews. And, it's small enough to keep in your pocket for quick reference by Rome's geographical areas.
The best restaurant guide.......2005-02-14
The small size of this book makes it perfect to tuck into a purse or pocket. The restaurants are organized according to neighborhoods and are marked on detailed maps, making them easy to find. I'm just back from a week of wonderful meals in Rome thanks to this guide. No matter what neighborhood I was in when I felt hungry, I could read the descriptions in this book and decide on the perfect place to eat. Included is helpful information on cuisine, tipping, and a glossary of Italian menu terms.
Finally.......2002-11-22
After living in Rome for a year and a half, I still find myself lost in the restaurant and dining scene in Rome. Finally there is a guide to help people find new and interesting places to go to. Through the millions of restaurants available this guide helps shine a light to the kind of place one is searching for. Dana Klitzberg and Time outhas really brought a guide that is worth every penny and more. The reviews are personable, informative, fun to read, and cover a wide spectrum of options and areas in Rome. Thank you Timeout for finally sorting out the restaurant and bar scene in ROME!!

Customer Reviews:
Great seller.......2005-10-02
Book was a little more used than described, but hey for the price it couldn't be beat. To bad my sylabus was wrong and the professor changed the edition. Anyhow, seller was excellent. Fast shipping and I would reccommend.
My first accounting book.......2005-02-16
I used this textbook for my first accounting class and it was by far the best. Examples are all spelled out step by step and the numerous exercies and problems contribute to a higher level of understanding. Buy the workbook offered. It will save you a lot of time normally spent setting up the problem. Much better then some of the higher level books I have used.
Fundamental Accounting Principles.......2000-12-12
This text was VERY helpful. The illustrations and examples were enough to explain the topic without havung to read the entire book.. Also the problems given at the end of each section were very good. Some were tough; however, the author starts you out with easy problems and works up to the more difficult ones. This text definitely is a good learning aid.

Book Description
While many texts characterize themselves as having either a “user” approach or a “preparer” approach, Williams, Financial Accounting, is written for faculty who want to strike a balance between these approaches. Business majors will find relevance in the “Management Strategy,” “Your Turn” and “Case in Point” boxes throughout the chapters while accounting majors will receive a firm grounding in accounting basics that will properly prepare them for their intermediate accounting course. Perhaps the most important new feature is the online companion, My Mentor. This text-specific online resource uses video clips, animated graphics and Excel templates to demonstrate accounting concepts, expressing accounting visually. This solves a problem that many introductory students have in accounting: It allows them to link concepts and numbers together in a interactive rather than print environment.
