This teaching has given me a "spiritual backbone" like I have never experienced before and has revolutionized the way I pray, especially for my children and myself. Satan is defeated. Christians have been given the authority over Satan and he is "overcome by the word of God and the blood of Jesus" Rev 12:11 and all we have to do is use it.
This book is the most awesome teaching that I have read in many years. I have had the head knowledge of these truths, but had not accepted the spiritual knowledge into my spirit man and was not using these truths in my life.

Ms. Brim has an excellent way of putting very complex ideas in very simplistic terms. This book is absolutely necessary for every believer for the times we are living in today. My eyes have been opened in a new way and I have seen things in a clearer way than I ever thought I could. I highly recommend this book for the new believer as well as for the seasoned Christian.

Before the Clan novels, there was the Curse!.......2003-06-11
I became interested in reading the Trilogy of the Blood Curse after reading the Clan Novel series. This first book, centering around the elder Ventrue, Owain, starts off a bit slow but ends with a flourish.
Everything takes place in Atlanta, where we get to see our old friends Benison, Hanna, Benjamin, Thelonius, and others before the Clan novel series. Owain, though not directly involved in the local politics, does carry some weight around with his experience. When the Blood Curse hits, Owain is torn between his duties to the local Prince, and his own personal feelings. In the end, the world begins to crumble around Owain as he discovers old emotions, long buried in his cold dead heart.
The novel jumps around quite a bit between other vampires and other cities, this to give the reader the impression of how far the Blood Curse is spread. A few of the other stories begin to weave into the main story towards the end. Overall, a good read.

Multi-dimensional, interesting characters with well-built motive, good sub-plots. Writing has nice sense of pace, lots of action. Very well written, hard to put down.
Minor flaws only...too much scene jumping & I wish there was better closure at the end...but I guess he's trying to sell the second book in the series.
Incredible Vampire Story.......2000-09-08
First part of a trilogy, it's amazing how the life of a vampire is changed by elements around him and how he finds many answers to his cursed life. Owain now feels redemption, and it's only the beginning. A great book, recommend this to anyone!
The Devil's Advocate represents an advance in RPG fiction.......1998-06-27
In his suprisingly well-written work, Fleming takes the basic ingredients of White Wolf Gaming Studios Vampire: the Masquerade, some good historical research on the social and political organization of Wales between the Norman Conquest of England and the death of Llewellyn II, and the intriguing character of the protagonist, Ventrue elder Owain ap Iuean (a.k.a. Owain Evans) to create a work which pushes the boundaries of the "save the world in three easy steps" RPG based fiction. Though the shifts in character and scene occasionally distract from, rather than adding to the exploration of the character and past of Owain Evans, the writer shows some talent for sketching a character with something more than two dimensions. If the author can resist pressure to "commit trilogy" with his future works, he has the potential to be a writer whose books will be the sort to look for.

The author of this wonderfully written book, knows how to bring out the life in a story. The basic story line shows that this author has a great imagination. He throws things at the reader that you would never have seen coming. I highly recomend this book to anyone that loves to read horror.

Corbett's writing is exceptional and his story lines not only entertain but get you thinking. I discover him through his second book, "Done for a Dime." I picked it up in a little bookstore in Pacific Grove CA. The jacket described a mystery about a jazz legend in and around the East Bay of SF/Bay Area Ca where I live. Another great story. The "Devil's Redhead," lived up to my expectation in every way.

In his debut novel, David Corbett has created a gritty love story entering the underground drug manufacturing world where life is cheap. Set in the California Delta region, it's a story that is filled with violence, betrayal, suspicion and tragedy. Throughout all of this are a far from innocent couple who are desperate to escape this scene to resume their lives.
Dan Abatangelo and Shel Beaudry fell in love almost the instant they met one night in a Vegas casino, but there was something Dan had to get off his chest before he would let their relationship progress past that first attraction. He wanted to come clean with Shel over the fact that he was a major drug smuggler and would understand if she decided to run. She stays.
When he finally gets busted, Dan gets 10 years in an Arizona prison. He chooses a tougher sentence in exchange for a shorter prison term for Shel. By the time he gets out, Shel has gotten herself involved with a loser crankhead and is hopelessly entwined with the Akers brothers, a redneck family who operate a methamphetamine lab. Things are just starting to go south for Shel when an all out war break out between the brothers and a group of Mexicans who are looking to move in on the operation, leaving her stuck in the middle where she is used as a bargaining chip.
While Dan finds himself on the periphery of this crime war, there are many reasons for him to not get involved with some amazingly gruesome scenes taking place as the battle for drug supremacy takes place. But his one reason for persevering wins out giving us hope for a triumphant ending. Before that can take place, though, he has to find a way to break through the defences of a veritable fortress while watching his back for the revenge-seeking Mexicans.
There is a pervading sense of desperation to the story that is tinged with a creeping sense of hopelessness. It seems that no matter how hard Dan tries to find a way to get to Shel his attempts always managed to get frustrated. David Corbett has done an excellent job first up in creating a compelling story that had me unable to guess which way it was headed next.
An epic character rich novel.......2004-03-06
Dan Abatangelo is a drug dealer who smuggles marijuana into the country from Asia. While on a jaunt to Las Vegas, he meets Shel Beaudry, a card dealer in one of the casinos. They run off together, fall in love and live happily ever after until they both get busted for the drug smuggling. Ten years later, Dan is released from prison and searches for Shel who has gotten herself involved in a relationship with a mentally imbalanced man and a criminal organization. Dan must try to rescue her from this complicated living arrangement while trying to keep both of them alive. It proves to be a near impossible task.
David Corbet has written an epic novel rich in characterizations. However, I question the need for the sheer size of this volume. It is 370 pages long, yet, reads like a work of much greater length. True, we get to know the main characters very, very well. But nothing happens for many pages as we concentrate on detail after detail in almost every scene. The pacing is, therefore, lethargic. Nonetheless, the writing is strong and sure, as well as, the characters so realistic that these positives outweigh the negatives thereby allowing for a rewarding reading experience.

The writing flows. The pace never falters. At its tender
heart, this is a story of love, loss and reconciliation.
Opening line: "He blew into Las Vegas the first week of
spring, primed to hit the tables, sniff the wildlife and,
basically, cat around."
That's Danny Abatangelo, freelance photographer and
wildcat smuggler of Thai marijuana since college days. His
motto: "No guns, no gangsters, it's only money." Then he
meets Shel, a knockout redhead, and they slam together
like a couple of magnets.
Danny wants out of the drug trade. Everybody's moving in
-- Cubans, Marielitos, Vietnamese, Colombians, Mexicans,
the Mob. No more room for someone like Danny, who's in it
for kicks. End of an era.
He sets up one last job as a nest egg for retirement. What
follows is a harrowing sequence of events, resulting in
near-total destruction of everything Danny and Shel hoped
for.
This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Until Corbett came along,the only crime writer who could guide me through such violent material without setting me up for nightmares was James Lee Burke. Good company, those two!

I enjoyed this book and was set to wondering if the author was going to cross link this series with the mountain man series when Smoke Jenson was mentioned and when they linked up with a man who knew him. It didn't happen. One wonders if one day (how many books in the future) it will.

Brotherhood of the Gun is the 2nd book using William W Johnston's two latest charactors and a most exciting tale, framed in the Arizona Territory during the Apache Wars.
An excellent read for any lover of the old west.

William W Johnston is one of my all time favorite authors and he has introduced two new story charactors in this book and carries them thru a very exciting tale of the old west, with focus on the Great Indian Wars of the 1870s on the great plains of Wyoming and Montana.

William W. Johnstone has done it again. He has created a new set of characters to rate right up next to Smoke and Preacher. But this Blood Bond is of a different type than the two legendary mountain men, these are blood brothers. Two men, from two different worlds brought together through a bond of trust, and curiosity of each others ways. Matt Bodine, a son of a frontier rancher's family, and Samuel Two Wolves, an Eastern educated son of a Cheyenne War Chief and a White aristocrat. These men have a close, yet volatile kinship. Both are torn between feelings of respect for the "old ways" and the certain knowledge that those ways cannot survive the oncoming settlement of the West.
A must for any Johnstone diehard. You will ride trails these men have ridden, and share in the kinship that they feel for each other. Well written, with strong character development. You will look forward to each new adventure these two brothers share in their, Blood Bond.

Another GREAT BOOK by Kirby Jonas. I've read all of his books now and finally gave up trying to rank them - they are all terrific, 6 star out of 5. This book is no exception , I felt like I was riding with Tappan the protagonist all the way -a wonderful read!
