Best yet!.......2006-11-28
I've bought several hot springs books and this is the best yet! I do agree with the reviewer who said that most of what she says leans towards "over exuberant"; such as we might not rate say Hot Sulpher Springs as "one of Colorado's lovliest destination spas", the history and education is worth buying the book alone! Her separation into area of the state and the map in front locating each spring is very helpful! I would recommend buying this book!
Colorado's Hot Springs.......2006-11-10
This book was very useful on a recent trip to Colorado. The descriptions are accurate. It is also very helpful to have the clothing required/optional/none as part of the descriptions. The directions for reaching each of the hot springs is accurate and helpful.
Over Exuberance.......2002-12-05
Deborah George has written a fairly comprehensive guidebook detailing most of the hot springs of Colorado. She gives in-depth history of the springs and interesting facts. _Colorado hot springs_ Entries should be approached with care; George has fallen into a guidebook trap of only saying good things in her book. From her glowing descriptions of each spring, it is very hard to separate the great springs from the mediocre ones. The few negative things she has to say are vastly outweighed by the positive thus making the entries far from unbiased. Of course, everyone has favorites and is keen to embellish a bit, but every spring in Colorado is George's favorite.
George's book also lacks reliable directions and locations. While this isn't usually a problem for developed hot springs, the undeveloped springs have proved a bit harder to find. The entry for Penny Springs has quite good directions up until the last moment, advising Hot Springers to watch for a "well used turnout [with] a very small `C.R. 11' sign." Locating the `well used' turnout proved to be quite a challenge requiring three laps up and down the road and another guide book. Upon closer inspection, the C.R 11 sign appears to no longer exist. This type of experience is typical of George's directions.
Deborah George provides history, folklore and some interesting facts concerning Colorado's hot springs, but don't rely on her opinion of what is good because to her they're all great.

A Complete and Concise Hot Springs Guide.......2000-09-03
As a Colorado resident I have been fortunate to have visited several of the larger, more popular area hot springs. My search for new hot springs experiences led me to Wambach's "Touring Colorado Hot Springs." This book is well organized and lists the springs according to the region of Colorado where they are found. The included maps are clear and easy to read. Especially helpful information I found to be the "Best Secluded Locations", "Best Family Locations" and "Best Character Locations" section of the book. I found this book so good that I have now ordered 4 more copies to give as gifts.

Just what we need. RVs at wilderness hot springs.......2001-08-09
The only useful thing about this writer's books on hot springs are the USGS maps and the latitude/longitudes. I bought a book of his nearly 20 years ago and was thoroughly dissatisfied, & was incensed when it seemed to me he was more interested in providing info for the land yacht crowd. I wonder if his book alleging that the lunar landings were hoaxes is any better. I doubt it. He probably denies the Holocaust took place, too. If you want a book on hot springs, check out Jayson Loam's books. They are much better. If you want info on faked lunar landings, get the movie "Capricorn One."
Horribly Outdated Information.......2001-04-06
This book does a great public disservice. The information in the book has not been updated in years and is terribly outdated. Quite a bit of the information is absolutely wrong. Send the publisher a message - don't buy the book until they update it. Save your money, there are much better, current books out there such as "Hot Springs and Hot Pools of the Southwest" & Northwest - which are updated ever two years
Interesting especially for RVers who like hot tubbing.......1999-05-19
We have tried one hot spring listing and enjoyed our hot soak, found one shut down, one remodeling and one a bit too pricey for us. Would like to see some reference to actual costs rather than than reasonable or free or deluxe. One place inacessible without 4 wheel drive but we will keep trying, the maps are good.
basic guide to commercial springs.......1999-04-14
depending on what your looking for you may not want this guide. it has a fairly well established list to many commercial hot springs, but little else. If your looking for hot springs where you can hook up your RV then this guide may work for you. If on the other hand your looking for real, natural hot springs off the beaten path, then this guide is worthless.

Book Description
A New York Times Bestseller
When Victoria Hamilton's "no strings, no last names" vacation fling resulted in a baby, she knew she had to begin a new life far from her family's corrupting influence. Now her father has been murdered, her half brother is the prime suspect, and Tori has no choice but to return home. She'll do anything to prove Jared's innocence. But confronting her past when her new private investigator turns out to be John "Rocket" Miglionni isn't what she had in mind.
Customer Reviews:
This is an excellent read!.......2007-08-22
I have to admit, from the cover, I thought this was going to be pretty basic chicklit, but I was pleasantly surprised! I'd never read any Susan Andersen before, and I'm amazed by the depth and style of her writing.
This is a romantic suspense in the best traditions of Nora Roberts and Catherine Coulter. While not police-based, it's a gripping story that combines murder, money and love. Victoria Hamilton, a rich young socialite, once had a "no names, no questions" vacation fling that resulted in a baby. She raised the baby herself and got on with her life.
Now her father's been murdered and her brother has been accused of it and run away. Tori must step in to fix things, but nearly as soon as she arrives home, she's faced with John "Rocket" Miglionni - her secret fling, who also happens to be the P.I. she's hired to find her brother.
Andersen's characters are believable, real, and very easy to become attached to. Strong, independent, responsible female characters often fall to pieces as soon as the male protagonist appears in romance novels - not so with Tori Hamilton. Andersen's style is very smooth and efficient, very unlike the overly-descriptive poetic style often adopted by romance authors. If you're a fan of Nora Roberts, I'd strongly recommend trying Susan Andersen. This book was a great surprise, and I'll be seeking out more from this author.
Sexy conclusion to the "Marine" series.......2007-01-18
Wealthy architect Tori Hamilton hires a PI from Semper Fi Investigations to locate and exonerate her brother Jared who disappeared after their father was fatally stabbed. When she meets John the PI, it turns out he's the man she had a sex-filled weekend with in Florida six years earlier, resulting in the birth of her precocious daughter Esme. Estranged from her controlling and abusive wealthy father, she chose to raise her daughter in England, and is only returning to the US because of Jared.
Once the cat is out of the bag, John must come to terms with fatherhood, the reemergence of his feelings for Tori (as well as their differing yet similar backgrounds when it comes to fathers), and his commitment to finding her brother. Once the two decide to rekindle the romance, they literally burn up the pages (and the readers finally find out how John got the nickname "rocket").
Andersen can always be counted on to tell a sensual and engaging story, with great secondary storylines, in this case, pampered Jared's experience of living on the streets. It's a good conclusion to the "marine" series (and provides redemption for the dismal "Getting Lucky").
Good But Not One Of Her Bests.......2006-11-27
I like Anderson's books but this one is not one of my favorites. But still a fairly decent book altogether. John and Victoria met 6 years earlier. They had a no names "fling" that resulted in a child that John knows nothing about until he sets foot on Tori's doorstep 6 years later. He is being hired by Victoria to help search for her brother. She only knew him as Rocket so she is shocked to see him. Once he relizes he's a father it takes him so time to adjust and at times in the book is not really sure if he wants to be a father. Tori and John do alot of pushing and pulling at each other throughout this book.During this "search" for the brother, Victoria & John rekindle their relationship. I thought their chemistry good, but the book did not seem to grab me.
And the constant refrence to John's "package" just dumb and out of place in the book. And the daughter Esme way to grown up, no 5 year old would talk or act like her. I don't understand why authors feel the need to make child characters in there book unbelivable. I seemed to be more interested in the relationship that the brother made while living on the streets. But overall this was a ok read. Just not one of her bests.
Sexy Mystery.......2006-06-12
A better than average romance that uses the time-worn plot of rekindling a long ago romance that had resulted in a child. John, known as Rocket, investigates the murder of Tori's crochety father and tries to find her runaway brother. Proximity forces them to reassess their attraction to each other, but is complicated when Rocket realizes Tori's daughter is also his daughter.
The characters have depth and even the side plots are well developed (the young brother's experience on the streets and the friendship that saves him there). The mystery blends well with the romance for a satisfying read. My favorite, so far, of Andersen's books is Skintight, but this one was sexy and reasonably real though I got a little tired of the rapsodizing over Rocket's "rocket" and appearance and abilities.
It will put a smile on your face - - ENJOY !.......2005-09-12
`Hot and Bothered' is a very enjoyable romance/murder mystery. This is the story of Tori and John/Rocket who had hot week five year ago and created a child. Tori hires John ex-marine now PI to find her brother and solve her father's murder. The sparks fly and more than a murder is solved. I enjoyed Susan Andersen's `Getting Lucky' novel as well and plan to buy `Skintight' her latest novel.
