Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
The Inside Film Series kicks off with an exploration of Spanish Cinema, from filmmakers like Luis Bunuel and Pedro Almodovar to actors and stars like Antonio Banderas.
- Provides a broad introduction to Spanish Cinema and traces the development of various themes and film movements.
- Examines the Civil War and Dictatorship in the Spanish Cinema, early Spanish and Basque Cinema and sex and the new star system.
- Includes chapters on Carlos Saura and Julio Medem and offers an examination of directors who are emblematic of different periods in Spanish Cinema and Spanish history.
Spain has produced many exciting and distinctive filmmakers such as Luis Bunuel and Pedro Almodovar. It's cinema has a rich and interesting history and can itself be used to look at many aspects of Spanish history and culture. For modern cinema goers it has often been the sexually charged and colorful nature of many contemporary Spanish films which has made them popular world wide and led directors or stars, like Antonio Banderas, to be welcomed by Hollywood. In this volume, the first in the Inside Film Series, Robert Stone provides a broad introduction to Spanish Cinema including its stars and directors and traces the development of themes and movements in the Spanish Cinema.
Spanish Cinema is well illustrated with representative stills and includes a thorough bibliography, index and list of resources.
Robert Stone writes for Time Out magazine and is at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Customer Reviews:
For fans and students of Spanish, European and World Cinema.......2001-12-13
This a concise, informative and very entertaining book on Spanish cinema. It's an eclectic book (there's no emphasis on Bunuel or Almodovar to the exclusion of all else) but this means that the chapters cover subjects like early Spanish cinema, Spanish cinema during the dictatorship and during the political transition. The book has several interviews with important people in Spanish cinema. There is also a fascinating chapter on Basque cinema, a beautifully written chapter on the theme of childhood in Spanish cinema, a great chapter on sexy Spanish film stars and chapters on two auteurs - the more serious one on Carlos Saura and a lively, fun one on a director called Julio Medem that's probably the best bit of the book. I'd never heard of Medem before but now I've seen two of his films on video (The Red Squirrel and Lovers of the Arctic Circle)and they've both become my favourites. Stone writes with a confident and expert tone that's stylish and almost always accessible and you come away having learned as much about the history of Spain as you do about its cinema. I can recommend this book very highly to fans and students of Spanish and European cinema.
Book Description
Núria Triana-Toribio's insightful study traces how film functioned as a national cultural industry under the Franco regime and since the coming of democracy in the 1970s. She also examines the increasing influence of Hollywood in the financing and character of contemporary Spanish films. While the book addresses the work of such "high art" filmmakers as Almodóvar and Medem, whose work has achieved international recognition, Núria Triana-Toribio's main focus is on popular cinema which has been successful or significant in a national context. Using accounts of films, popular film magazines and documents not readily available to an English-speaking audience, as well as case studies focusing on the key issues of each epoch, this volume illuminates the complex and changing relationship between cinema and Spanish national identity.
Book Description
A self-proclaimed knight
Señor Quexada has read so many books about knights in shining armor that he thinks he is one. He gives himself a name more fitting for a knight -- Don Quixote -- and sets off one evening with his squire. At dawn they come across what Don Quixote recognizes as an army of monstrous giants. "Master!" cries Sancho Panza. "They are only windmills!" But Don Quixote knows what he has to do . . .
Don Quixote is the creation of the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Eric A. Kimmel skillfully and cleverly crystallizes the character, and with his powerful line and
vibrant color Leonard Everett Fisher completes the funny, loving portrait.

Don Quixote.......2007-07-05
Don Quixote and the Windmills
These books were in great condition and came in a pretty fast time. I was very pleased with the service.
I really love the pictures and the story. I think it gives children a little taste of who Don Quixote was.
Brief Review.......2007-01-10
Bought this as a present for a knight-loving child who loves the book, the drawings are very well done and are very interesting to look at...
A CLASSIC TALE BROUGHT TO VIVID LIFE.......2004-04-22
A much sought after illustrator and writer Leonard Everett Fisher gives vivid life to this classic tale. The producer of over 200 children's books, his bold full-color pictures are unforgettable images of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
This hallmark of Spanish literature by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra was written in 1605 and published to great acclaim. Obviously, it has endured for centuries and will for centuries to come.
As most know, it is a tale of a rather ordinary fellow who has immersed himself in so much literature about knighthood that he believes he can be a knight. The story has become a much heralded Broadway musical, and the stuff of which dreams are made.
Sancho Panza, a neighboring farmer, is the rotund companion chosen by Don Quixote. He, too, has become very much a part of our culture as a faithful follower.
Kimmel, speaking for Don Quixote closes this version of his story with "Our names and the stories of our matchless deeds will resound through the ages." And they have.

Debería decirse Él topetea y no Él topeta.
It helped me..........2001-06-29
I used this book, en español, in my first grade class room that I volunteer in, with the bilingual and spanish speaking children. It was the first time that they had books read to them in their native language in school, the first time they had their native tongue recognized as an academic thing, and it helped to build their self esteem in learning to read and write spanish. I also have a friend who owns this book in Norwegan... I highly recommend it, in any language.
What edition were you reading?.......2001-01-31
I highly recommend this book in any language! Ferdinand the Bull is a wonderful story with comical illustrations. The translated version that I have in castellano is well done. I use the story with my ninth grade Spanish classes mostly to demonstrate the use of the Imperfect and Preterite tenses. The book gives some excellent examples and is jampacked with vocabulary and cultural information. There is only one missing accent mark in the version I own and some "leismo"(common in Spain)which is the use of the indirect object pronoun "le" in place of a direct object pronoun.
Bad translation.......1999-12-02
The translation of this book is one of the worst ones I have ever seen. The text lacks accents, is full of major gramatical errors and includes literally translated sentences that have no meaning in Spanish. The publication of this translation is insulting to my language and my community.

Book Description
Luis Buñuel lived many lives-surrealist, Spanish Civil War propagandist, hedonist, friend of artists and poets, and filmmaker. With surprising candor and wit, Buñuel offers his sometimes scathing opinions on the literati and avant-garde members of his sweeping social circle, including Pablo Picasso, Jorge Luis Borges, Salvador Dalí, and Federico García Lorca. These colorful stories of his nomadic life reveal a man of stunning imagination and influence.
Luis Buñuel (1900-1983) was one of the twentieth century's greatest filmmakers. His many credits include Un Chien andalou (1924), which he conceived with Salvador Dalí, and The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
Customer Reviews:
The spirit of a creative man.......2005-12-05
An interesting short semi-bio, in whuch Luis speaks about his life and the people he has met.
A beautiful little book.......2003-09-16
Bunuel gave some interviews towards the end of his life discussing his long list of movies. That's why I was delighted to find that his autobiography--which is one of the greatest, if not the greatest by a filmmaker--does not dwell on them. Instead Don Luis chronicles his childhood and upbringing, the relationships he cultivated, and meditates on life, love, death, art, alcohol and cigarettes. Many of the stories from his younger days are even more surreal than his movies. He writes in detail about his stormy friendships with Garcia Lorca and Dali, about his half-hearted attempt to try Hollywood on for size, meetings with Hitchcock, Fritz Lang, and others. The book is not somber or sentimental, it's not over-inflated. Bunuel's voice does not intimidate, it soothes. He's a master storyteller, a very gifted and generous writer.
No One Else.......2002-06-04
As a young person, don Luis helped me find my way out of the hormone fog, ... authoritarian adults and their institutions, and equally lost peers. Years later upon reading MY LAST SIGH, I was not surprised at all at the depth of don Luis' humanity and intelligence.
Nevermind the moniker "filmmaker" when talking about don Luis; he is an artist's artist. With his autobio, he only confirms what an equally supreme being he was. I miss him. However, encounter this book and become lit by life itself.
Gracias, Don Luis.......2001-11-22
Writings by film directors tend to resemble their films, and "My Last Sigh" is no exception. Bunuel's films are anarchic, funny, unpredictable, subversive, and often disturbing in a way that's hard to pin down. So is this, his autobiography!
Though he disclaims literary talent, Bunuel turns out to be a wonderful writer, and the book is stuffed with piquant anecdotes and elegant observations. I'm afraid to quote examples, because this review would go on forever. Suffice to say that, if you could choose to live any person's life, Bunuel's would be a hard choice to beat, just for the adventure and entertainment value. This may be my favorite book written by a filmmaker.
This appears to be a slightly shortened version.......2000-08-17
The US edition has curious omissions compared to the French original. In one omitted passage (IIRC) Bunuel mentions a postcard he received from Andrzej Wajda. It would be nice if the fine print for the book included "Portions of the original have been omitted for this edition." The recent Ken Mogg's book on Alfred Hitchcock has also been shortened for the American market. I find it quite annoying.
