This practical companion to The Knot Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World acts as a stand-alone guide to the nuts and bolts of planning a wedding. The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner is where the bride and groom can record wedding ideas, create budget guidelines, check items off their to-do list, generate the guest list, store contact information for their wedding vendors, and get tips and advice on the best way to plan their big day.
Chapter by chapter, the planner walks the bridal couple through each major step: for example, choosing the reception site, picking a photographer, and deciding on a menu. Author Carley Roney and the editors of The Knot Web site have talked with both wedding professionals and hundreds of thousands of brides and grooms, and have a good idea of the necessary ingredients for a successful wedding. Most helpful and thorough are each chapter's "Questions to Ask" checklists and the "Knot Knowledge" tips, which include money-saving ideas. The book also contains a gift log, a budget tracker, and a wedding-day phone contacts sheet.
Roney offers loads of helpful advice, such as recommending that the bride and groom declare "wedding free zones" where the couple makes time for activities together that have nothing to do with planning the wedding. Each chapter also includes her down-to-earth answers to commonly asked questions, such as whether it's appropriate for a relative to host a shower or if the wedding couple should pay for guests' travel expenses. With all of its tips, advice, and organizers, The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner may just be, next to a wedding coordinator, the best way for modern couples to ensure their wedding is a smoothly run, stress-free affair. --Kris Law

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner.......2007-09-24
I thought this book was very good. It has a list of things that I never thought of and the worksheets are great. The only thing that would have been an added bonus was a place to keep documents within the book. However, for first time brides as myself this book was much needed.
not pleased.......2007-08-24
I was not pleased with this - the inside was black and white - very text heavy. Who has time to read all those annoying lists when they're getting married? They want to look at pretty things and keep things organized. I ended up giving it away.
a good first choice.......2007-08-23
I liked this book but bought the 3 ring binder and didnt have much use for it.
My Favorite Wedding Helper!.......2007-07-31
While this book wasn't the "end all" to planning my wedding, it gave a great basic overview that helped me not to forget things. It is full of wonderful worksheets that proved more helpful than I realized at the time; without them I wouldn't have been able to remain on budget. I really recomend it, because it helps you know what percentage of your budget you should spend on different parts of your wedding (for example, if you have a budget of $15,000, and flowers should be 5% of your budget, then you know that you can plan to spend $750 on flowers and still be in budget.) They even broke it down further so that you knew what expenses fell into the "flower" category (alter flowers, boquets, corsages, decorative flowers for the reception hall, etc.) I loved it!
Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful.......2007-05-04
This was the best wedding book yet which I'm still using it I loved all of the worksheet I even copyed them onto my scanner and printed them in different colors so I could keep better organized.
Book Description
The wedding business is a $45 billion a year industry. With more than 2.4 million weddings taking place in the U.S. in 2004, there are more opportunities for wedding planners that ever before.
Wedding planners have an exciting high-paying job that lets them use their creativity to organize the happiest day of people's lives. No special education is necessary to succeed in this career.
This book explains how to plan a wedding, including how to prepare a timeline schedule and budget, a step-by-step list of all tasks involved in planning a wedding, how to plan the ceremony and reception, how to select reputable vendors, and how to negotiate contracts and save money. The CD-ROM included with the book has many forms and checklists to use in wedding planning.
This book also provides information on more than a dozen types of employers that hire wedding planners, how to find job openings, how to prepare a resume, and how to do well in an interview.
Additionally, the book covers how to start a wedding planning business with little or no money and explains how to price services, find potential clients, create an impressive portfolio, and where to get creative ideas for weddings.

Very Helpful!.......2007-09-12
I found this book to be very informative and helpful for starting my new business. It has plenty of details and suggestions to help you get started!
Great book for this industry.......2007-01-04
Wedding Planning is something I like to do in my spare time and this book has some great advice, tips, and general information for being a successful Wedding Planner.
Becoming a Wedding Planner.......2006-03-22
I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone interested in becoming a wedding planner. I could have saved myself a lot of time and trouble if I had purchased this book before I started my own research. Amazing book!!
Wedding Planner/Coordinator Guide .......2005-09-10
I loved this book because it didn't totally focus on the aspect of becoming a wedding planner, but also the more silent topics. It provided me with perfect examples of purchase orders, service requests, billing, and the how to's of marketing my future business. One can apply the information in this book to almost any personal business with a little tweeking of words and services, of course.... Highly recommend the FabJob Guide to becoming anything your heart desires!!!
Dynamite!.......2005-08-12
For the size and intent, this is the best book on the market. If you are thiking of becoming a professional wedding planner, this introductory book covers all the things you will have to learn. What it doesn't cover in detail, it points you in the direction of where you can find more information, with recommended websites and book titles. What it won't do, however, is teach you all the minute and various specific details that apply to your market and jurisdiction. As with any business, you still have to do a lot of legwork before you can actually make any money. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know exactly what's involved in getting started.

If your planner hasn't read this...........2005-04-07
I am a wedding planner (eventsbykaren@hotmail.com) and if you aren't using a planner, you are nuts, and if you are and they haven't read this book, they are nuts! All people planning a wedding should read this book. Even if you don't read it and only use it as a reference then you still should buy this book. A wedding is a one shot deal and if you haven't planned one before, trust me, you have NO IDEA what it takes! There is a reason why planners make good money. This is one book that I recommened to all brides, mothers, fiances, and planners regardless of if you are using a coordinator or not.
Best wedding book yet!.......2003-05-20
If you are on a mission to plan a fantastic wedding, this is the book to read. This is the 3rd wedding book I have read in the last few months, and by far the most useful! It has great advice on how to get organized and plan the perfect wedding. I would recommend it to anyone planning a wedding.
All The Help You Need.......2003-02-24
WOW, I bought this book with not so great expectations, but to my pleasure it turned to be one of my favorites books ever. Give practical advices, how to care of details, everything you need to know and how to do it, it's a great book for wedding consultants, (novice or expert) and of course for the bride to be, giving them a practical inside look of everything they have to know to make the wedding a dream wedding... just two words:
BUY IT!
Must have wedding book!!!.......2002-04-22
This is by far the best wedding book available. The author is a mega wedding planner and you can tell why after reading the book. My fiance and I both read the book when we first got engaged and loved it! I am the groom and I learned a lot. I went from totally naive to getting a bunch of inside tips on getting the most bang for our buck. It made my involvement in the plans really enjoyable.
Save Time, Money and Stress with this Book!.......2001-07-05
I was thrilled when Robbi published this book! As a member of JWI, I know how difficult it can be for a couple to plan a wedding. There are so many things to do and hiring experts for every piece can cost an arm and a leg! I love that this book offers all the great tips that JWI event professionals share with their clients ... in one easy resource book. A couple can save lots of time and money by reading this book. But best of all, it can help ensure that their wedding day is as fun-filled and stress-free as possible! Happy weddings, everyone!
Book Description

Customer Reviews:
Really Helpful.......2007-08-15
I used this book for my wedding 5 years ago and it kept me organized! I liked it so much that I bought it for a cousin who is getting married.
Exactly What I Needed.......2007-08-10
This is the most amazing thing ever. It was exactly what I was looking for and has been so helpful to me in planning my wedding. All of my wedding stuff is in one place and is so easy to find. I just wish there were some blank excel style pages to add my own stuff in on, but no big. I still love the Wedding Planner and the website has been extremely helpful too!
Great engagement gift!.......2007-06-28
I bought this for my sis-in-law when she got engaged. She is using it and says she loves it, loves the pockets and hole puncher and calculator. You could probably buy a 3 ring binder and pouches and similar items at an office supply store. But this is wedding theme and fun! Anyway it made for a nice gift, I'm going to buy it again the next time someone I know gets engaged.
Definitely the best one out there.......2007-03-03
I sat at the bookstore and pored over many planners and this one definitely came out on top. One of the best features is that it's a 3-ring binder, so you can add stuff easily. Not to mention it has a calculator built in to the cover. It also brought up a whole bunch of stuff i didn't even think of.
On a side note, I also recommend Bridal Bargains - it opens your eyes to what to expect in the industry and how you can get around high prices.
An excellent wedding planner.......2007-02-06
I found exactly what I was looking for in this book, easy layout, great suggestions, and has everything I need for planning my daughters wedding. I couldn't ask for any more.

In addition, it contains hundreds of photographs from the most beautiful weddings around the country to inspire the couple's own creativity.
Customer Reviews:
It's okay..........2007-01-11
I bought two wedding planners and this is the one that I've been using the least. It does have really good sized pockets in the divider of each section. It has gorgeous pictures in it and as the wedding date draws closer (we still have nine months), it's quite possible I'll use this one more.
This book does have a business card holder and so far that's the part I've used the most.
Fast.......2007-01-09
I received this product very fast and my sister absolutely loves it. It was a great gift for her.
Just Awesome.......2006-10-03
This planner is WONDERFUL. I got married just a few months ago, so I know how hectic it can be. I ordered this as a gift for a co-worker and she loves it. This is great because it has big pockets to store papers and things, tons of pictures of flowers, cakes, reception ideas, etc. The flower directory is teriffic. This planner covers everything right down to the last detail. After planning my own wedding, I wish I had had this planner! The best you can get.
Very helpful information but..........2006-07-24
I was very pleased with all the helpful information this wedding planner has but was very disappointed when it fell apart two days after giving it to my son's fiance as a gift. I was very embarassed to say the least. We are not returning it because she has started writing a lot of information in it so she has put it in a three-ring binder. I just want to warn other buyers about this product. I'm sure there are other books that contain just as much information as this one but won't fall apart.
Seems like it will be helpful........2006-03-07
I bought this as an engagement present for my best friends and gave it to them the day after they got engaged. It has a great deal of content and even if they don't end up using the worksheets, it's still fun for them to look at. The book itself was a little beat up (some of the divider tabs were creased, some dents on the cover) so it might be better to buy it at a store where you can see the actual book and content first.

Customer Reviews:
Refreshing and Up to Date.......2007-03-06
Emily Post's Wedding Planner will keep you informed and up to date on every aspect of the wedding process. I always rely on Emily Post books for information on proper etiquette and protocol for all events and this book is no exception. Whether information is needed for planning a wedding (or even for research like for my latest novel!), Emily Post's Wedding Planner by Peggy Post is "the" go-to guide. I highly recommend it! --Kimberly Llewellyn, Author, aka "The Wedding Writer"
Just OK.......2007-02-11
This planner was ok but didnt't really stand out from other ones I had perused in the bookstores. I was hoping for some unique tips (including etiquette pointers) but didn't really find them.
A Proper and Well-Planned Wedding.......2006-02-06
This planner guide is beautiful. I love the binding since it is easy to browse topics without the book flipping closed. It covers various information and check lists that are useful to first-time brides (or mothers of the bride). I appreciate the simplicity and the inclusion of Post's infamous manners to help me plan a proper wedding. The big drawback is that the book is so crisp and worth saving as a memoir of the planning process and 'big day' that I am timid to write in it and make full use of its pages for fear I'll mess it up. Otherwise, it is a classic and simple gift for a newly engaged couple.
Planner Does Not Meet Expectations.......2005-11-26
I am a huge fan of Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette book and it has helped me be a better bride, bridesmaid, and wedding guest. It is well organized and lays the proper etiquette for every possible scenario. It's wonderful.
I wish I could say the same about the planner. I was a little disappointed. Although it lays out the same etiquette tips as in the book there is little writing room for notes and if you use pencil the paper does not take kindly to eraser. It would be nice if the book had pockets to carry brochures and other paperwork that wedding venues are so liberal to hand out. They also need a "matrix" of some sort to compare certain venues.
Perhaps this planner was not useful for me as my reception venue was all inclusive, but I would recommend making your own. Many wedding planners should be personalized and should meet your specific needs.
Wonderful resource.......2004-04-29
This book is simple and elegant - you can judge it by its cover. It takes the wedding planning process step-by-step, helping you decide each aspect of your wedding by offering the full range of choices, down to veil styles.
The vendor questions were extremely helpful, and due to the color and size of this book I did not feel silly taking it with me to appointments. It has adequate space to write but is more of a workbook style, with lists and notes throughout instead of all in one place.
I did not use this book all the way through my engagement because I needed more detailed, personalized information. It was excellent for planning. It was definitely our number one resource for etiquette and formality questions.

Customer Reviews:
Hardly a keepsake!.......2007-09-23
Expensive and disappointing.
The first one I bought broke within a few days (the binder fully detatched from the outer cover). I returned it. The second one was crushed - dog-eared and scruffy. I returned that one too. When finally the third one I bought broke (again the binder detatched), I resorted to a Staples folder with Martha's inserts.
Over-rated, but vaguely useful.
Not for non traditional.......2007-09-19
Unlike some of the shared reviews, my book came in perfect condition. However once I looked at it I realized that it was not for me. This is more set up for a coulpe that is having a really tradional wedding. If you want something more simple or you are from a small town, this might not be what you are looking for.
Beautiful.......2007-09-01
I got this wedding planner for my newly engaged sister and we couldn't have been more thrilled with it! It is a beautiful binder, with helpful pages thoughout. The section of flowers alone is worth it. With the beautiful pictures and detailed list of types of flowers, you can go to your florist knowing more than just the colors you want, you will actually be educated about flower design. There are numerous worksheets (you may need to make copies of some of them for larger weddings), and great tips on almost every page. All sizes and styles of weddings will benefit from this wonderful planner. Perfect for the elegant or super organized bride.
The Only Wedding Planner.......2007-08-15
This was the third (and most complete) wedding planner I bought...
I bought Emily Post's Wedding Planner, which has a bit of helpful etiquette and tradition and some useful forms.
I also bought, and returned, The Knot's Ultimate Wedding Planner, which was a grave disappointment.
I ALSO bought a small 3-ring binder for sketches and clippings.
Martha Stewart's planner has it all.
It is the most concise, complete, helpful and beautiful.
What sets this planner apart is the format: it's a 1-1/2 inch 3-ring binder, which fits letter-sized paper!
It provides convention, tradition, etiquette, forms, and I can add all of my sketches and vendor documents.
The design concept is quintessential understated elegance - a celadon green satiny exterior with a matching cloth "binding."
It's large enough - plenty of room for copies of pages (get used to making copies for the contacts and guest list).
It comes with 2 zip-lock letter sized pockets, a sheet of business card pockets, and six one-sided paper pockets.
It has quite a bit of helpful information regarding invitation, seating, and procession conventions, with illustrations and diagrams.
The photographs are plenty and supplementary - never overdone or simply to look nice.
Speaking of pretty pictures, Martha Stewart's wedding planner is a great "companion," as the editors put it, to her Best of Weddings book.
Between the two I honestly do not feel the need for any bridal magazines.
I do wish I would have purchased this planner first, as I am not using the Emily Post planner anymore!
You will be impressed and relieved with both the quality and the quantity this essential resource embodies and encompasses.
I recommend:
Martha Stewart's Keepsake Wedding Planner - Great for solidifying ideas.
The Best of Martha Stewart Living Weddings - Great for ideas!
Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette - A MUST for anyone getting married, part of a wedding, or invited to a wedding.
The Knot Guide to Wedding Vows and Traditions - Surprisingly insightful.
What a binder.......2007-07-26
I was impressed by what I got. This planner keeps me organized. This is good tool for planning and a nice keepsake.

Customer Reviews:
Change The Name Of Your Book PLEASE.......2007-08-28
THE TITLE of this book is horrible!!! A huge marketing disaster!!!!! What bride dreaming and planning a wedding wants to be an "Anti-Bride"? Little girls fantasize of getting married and when they do become one they are thrilled about being a bride. That being said please don't let the name scare you off. This book is a great RESOURCE book. It has a bride Fantasy Questionnaire that helps you visualize the place where you want to host your ceremony "from barns to boats" and reminds you to think of parking, bathrooms all the nitty gritty details. It also talks about Programs, Favors, Food, Drinks, The Cake, The Band, Shopping, Shoes, Dress, Alterations, what I am trying to say is all the nitty gritty details. It is thought provoking if you don't know where to start. Note: This book does not give ceremony hard details for vows, or readings, but great check lists and makes you think about all the small things that couple often overlook when planning a wedding.
Loved it! Absolutely what I was looking for........2006-12-16
After getting engaged, and knowing I didn't want a big white wedding with puffy dress and a gazillion people I hardly know feasting on beef or chicken, I set out to find a book for people like me.
The title put me off and I did overlook it at first, but after flicking through I discovered it wasn't anti-wedding, just anti-traditional old-fashioned wedding.
It's witty and full of relevant info and tips.
I loved the layout with the spiral binding inside and the different tabs for the different sections and the space to write planning details along the way (quotes, vendors, ideas etc).
My fiance is now reading it as as he flipped through it and loved it too!
I highly recommend this book as the first one to read if you're a cool, modern bride-to-be. It's definitely the best one I have come across in Border's. Great for a non-traditional girl like me!
Great Tool For Brides!.......2006-06-28
I have just started planning a very small destination wedding and I really love this planner.
After reading the online reviews of this and other planners I went to the store to browse in person and ended up buying this planner. It is a great size, sturdy (to bring with you everywhere) and spiral bound. The worksheets, quizes and checklists have been very helpful to me as well as all the tips.
Of course I have a few bridal magazines and do a lot of online research but I do not think I will need another planner besides this one. The book recommends buying an accordian folder to put all your cutouts, articles, contracts, etc in and that has worked great for me.
Like other reviewers, I would recommend going to the store to look at planners so you can choose which one will be right for you but if you are more non-traditional and do not want a generic wedding book I would definetly consider this planner.
Don't listen to the nay sayers..........2006-03-19
This book is great..it is not meant to be the only book you own to plan your wedding but it certainly has much of what I needed.
This book is first and formost an organizer and that is what I was loking for. It has some great tips and a nice setup to keep buisness cards, and other pieces of paper all in this one book. It has been invaluble so far. I bought this and the companion "Anti-Bride Etiquette Quide".
IF you want someone else to tell where to go and what to buy there are dozens of websites and magazines. I just wanted a book that can help me, a first time bride, know the ins and outs of weddings and what to do plan and organize the day! ANd this book is a great resource for that.
A dissapointment.......2006-02-08
I was hoping for something unique, but it's just like all the other pro-bride, pro-industry, pro-spend-a-LOT-of-money-on-a-wedding planners (but in a "non-traditional" pink disguise). The mere fact that it has diamond rings circling the page numbers should have been my first clue. If you are really looking for some unique and inspirational ideas, you will not find them here. That said, it is still a pretty decent planner, has a few (FEW) unique tips, and pockets and space for contact info, etc. Look it over in a bookstore if possible before you buy.

Customer Reviews:
Great organizer.......2007-02-28
I loved this planner. The tabs were a great way to keep things organized, but much like other reviews mentioned it would have been better if it was more customizable. I ended up getting a note tablet to keep inside it to keep up with notes, etc from different vendors. Some of the sections need to be updated. I mean in the age of computers are you really going to do your guest list in this book? I would add names during the day at work or as I thought about them, but the address lines were a waste.
Overall this little book was great. It definitely helped and I got rave reviews from all the vendors for having everything together. The pockets were extremely helpful for pictures and fabric samples.
Pretty but not perfect.......2004-06-14
I bought this wedding planner after reading the reviews and agreeing that I wasn't looking for a guidebook with advice as much as important checklists and a place to keep everything organized. While I like the general layout there are a few problems:
1) When I first received my planner, some of the pages already looked dirty because the ink from the pockets had rubbed off on them. I know that's picky, but just like my wedding, I wanted everything to be perfect. I've been using pencil sometimes when I wanted the option to erase, but it's just getting dirtier and uglier.
2) While the pockets are great, it's hard to tell what's in them since they aren't clear and little things like business cards can get lost at the bottom.
3) I liked the smaller size of the planner, but then realized that contracts and other documents are all on standard 8.5x11 paper, which means I've had to fold everything to fit them in the pockets, which is actually kind of a hassle and again, not as neat as possible.
4) While the divider tabs are also a good idea, they need to be stronger. After heavy use, mine are now frayed and ugly-looking.
5) While for the most part, the divisions are great, it seemed a bit crazy to have "Flowers, Music, and Photography" all squished into one section. The actual planning pages are fine, but there's only one little pocket for each section and I have tons of papers to keep track of in each of these three categories.
All in all, I think this is one of the prettier, affordable planners out there, but I would probably opt for a binder version in the future that would allow me to customize things a bit more. This book would be great to finish as a keepsake (if mine weren't already well-used), but it's not the best organizer out there.
Not that great.......2004-03-17
If you are looking for something to help you keep all the information for a big event like a wedding, this book is just not it. If you are looking for something like a keepsake, then this is what you are looking for. There is no place to keep information while you are actually planning the wedding. I wish I would have bought something else.
great help.......2004-03-02
great way to organize. we used this and weddingchannle.com to keep everthing organized and in check. having a scrapbook/organizer prevents you from loosing great ideas and plans already laid out

Which flowers are in season in June? How should you word invitations to a second wedding? What questions should you ask a caterer or photographer? Wedding-industry expert Beverly Clark gives you the answers to these questions and many more in her remarkably thorough guide, Planning a Wedding to Remember. The 23 chapters in this hefty, spiral-bound planner cover everything from announcing the engagement to developing a budget to planning flowers, photography, prewedding parties, and the honeymoon. Clark gives couples the information they need to start thinking about their special day, and then provides them with the organizational tools to create their own special, personal celebration. "Start by deciding what is most important to you," she writes, "and plan the rest of the wedding around that." But what's truly unique and oh-so-useful about this planner is that in addition to Clark's tips and tricks, it contains dozens of worksheets and checklists to help you organize, shop, make decisions, write thank-you notes, and attend to every last detail--without going nuts and succumbing to the wedding crazies.

Organization Plus!.......2007-09-29
I purchased an older version of this wedding planner 10 years ago when I was getting married. It was my "bible" and kept me on track. Back then, it did not have tabbed dividers for the sections, so I added my own. What do you know?! This new revised version now has the tabbed dividers! Purchased this new revised edition for my sister who is getting married. She loves it as much as I do.
It was Ok.......2007-05-04
I liked it but I think that if you are planning your wedding on your own I would recommand getting "The Knot"
Awesome!.......2007-01-04
This book has plenty of pockets and forms for filling out information and forms for just forms. I have had this book for a while now and it has saved me a lot of time and trouble. I would definately recommend buying this book. It's organized and absolutely beautiful which inspires my creativity. The only thing I wish it had are deadline and time of arrival sheets for members of my wedding party and venues so that I can tear them out and make sure each person has one. Other than that -- this book is awesome!
Nice Planner although it looked used when it arrived.......2006-02-23
I found this planner to be very helpful but when it arrived it looked as if it had been purchased before, The outside cover had dirt stains and the binding was worn. I sent an e-mail with my concerns but no reponse...I am a little disapointed.
Great organizer! I *still* refer to it!.......2006-01-09
I really like this book. I was able to stay organized during my whole wedding ceremony because of it. I still use it sometimes to see who got us the Whirly Popcorn popper, or the set of beer mugs. Also for addresses for Christmas cards--I want to keep in touch with all the people who went to our wedding!
