Customer Reviews:
good reading.......2007-07-25
I'm a beginner learner and the way they present the story in the book is very amusing and quite easy, with a vocabulary list on the back and questions after each two- page "story". I'm glad I got it.
Great refresher.......2007-03-26
If you took French back in high school, and that's more years ago than you'd care to remember, this is a great little refresher book to get you reading and thinking in French again.
Thoroughly enjoyable!.......2005-10-10
Of the two readers I ordered, I enjoy this one much more. I've read it many times in just the few short weeks since I received it and now my mother is reading and enjoying it. The stories are very short, simple, beautifully illustrated, and every single word in the text is in the glossary at the end. This gave me confidence immediately since I've never studied French. In fact, the illustrations are so good that they teach the words on the page without effort. I only wish there were more stories. I want to find out more about the family in the book!
Fun reader for French beginners!.......2004-03-14
I picked this book up in a used book store, and quickly found it to be a gem! One of the hardest things when learning a new language is keeping it fun and interesting, and not to lose interest. This book makes learning French fun! The pictures add interest and whimsy while the very simple format that builds a few new words each page helps you to follow along without getting lost. Every new word in the text can be found in the glossary in the back, and the situations detailed are days in the life of a family. Words learned are very useful and even a complete beginner will quickly pick up the structure of French sentences. I'd recommend this book either to a complete beginner or someone who has recently started to learn French. Note this book is for reading French, and does not have a guide on pronouncing the language. I started this small book after a month of learning pronunciation with another guide, and was able to read the sentences out loud without much difficulty. Enjoy!

Dog be gone!
The big old dog wants to play. Can the little boy make him go away?
Customer Reviews:
Playful Pup Persuasively Pounces.......2003-02-27
A boy who is afraid of dogs meets a friendly long-haired barking fellow looking to play. He tells him to go away, but the dog insists on being friends. The dog instantly loves the boy, but the boy isn't so sure.
Your child will learn how dogs are fun to play with, and how some things aren't quite as scary as they might first appear.
The colorful, warm drawings have endured through the years, and will help bring a smile to your face.
I fully recommend "Go Away, Dog."

My "most favorite book".......2002-05-28
I have the original version (1963) and mine has the following inscription written by my mother:
"This was a library book I checked out for Lisa when she was 4 and 1/2 years old. She loved it so much she kept putting off taking it back and one day 'could never find it again'. Later, she told me she hid it and by then I had paid the library for it. Her most favorite book then and for a long time."
I cherish my copy of Go Away Dog and am buying the new version for good friend's baby shower.

Customer Reviews:
Probably one of the best in this series.......2007-02-28
My child and I both love it. This is a multi-layered book that is fun and teaches so many different things. It helps teach the name of farm animals and shows their roles and the tasks they undertake. It also teaches a child that sometimes it takes time to find a friend and accept rejections. It also teaches a number of french verbs and vocabulary. Add to it the sounds that animals make and you have a winner.
Puppy Finds a Friend is just right!.......2007-01-10
Perfect for our needs - just like all the other I Can Read Stories in French!
Another good language book.......2006-11-08
This book, like the others in the series, is well-written, comprising a little story that is intelligible to even my under-2 son. The parallel story structure (English and French on each page) really helps him understand that two words can mean the same thing.
The pronunciation script in the back of the books in this series allow my wife (not a lick of French study in her background) to make a passable attempt at reading the stories when my son demands the French version over the English.
Great book!.......2006-08-30
My daughter loves this book. The pictures are really cute. From about age 1, she would point to the various animals and we would make the animal noise. As she got older she can try to say the name of the animal in both English and French. This is a fantastic book.
perfect for learning.......2003-05-19
This is perfect for children (or adults!) learning french. It uses repeatition and variation to teach several different simple sentence structures and useful vocabluary words. Cute pictures.
I thought the explainations on how to pronounce the words was great as I could comprehend what it was instructing. Certainly, it gets the beginning pupil close enough!

My daughter loved this book it is very easy reading and quite enjoyable she is very proud of herself when she can read a book. Thank you for making her day
Simple Text Appeals to Young Readers.......2007-02-19
We recently introduced Biscuit to our daughter (nearly age 2 yrs). She asks to read about Biscuit's bath several times a day and comments as we read together. The word repetition creates an easy rhythm we both enjoy. The text and drawings work well together.
We like it for all the wrong reasons........2005-10-14
My 6-year-old brought this book home from school, and it's a fine learning-to-read book for her. What struck her, though, was the (unintentionally?) hilarious nature of a few of the illustrations. They have to be seen to be appreciated. Call us juvenile, but we laughed until we cried. I'm buying one for home, and more for gifts! Thanks, Biscuit!
Great Children's book.......2005-09-21
My daughter loves the Biscuit series books! I think she's attracted to the cute golden dog named Biscuit. It also helps when her dad or me read the books with animation.
Great beginner reader book!.......2004-05-06
My daughter, who is 5, loves all the Biscuit books! They're great for beginner readers! We haven't found any she likes better, so we just keep on buying all the Biscuit books we can find. She is definitely a Biscuit fan!

Customer Reviews:
great even for those who can't read.......2003-05-02
My 19 month old loves this book (and has for the last three months with unwavering interest.) The words and pictures are so engaging. I sometimes read it to him three times in a row. He loves to identify all the people, things, and animals throughout the story. The illustrations are superb. We wish that there were more stories out there about Raymond. He's so likable!
I KNOW THE ILLUSTRATOR.......2002-10-09
This is a great, short and entertaining book for young children. My four year old son gets a kick out of how fast Raymond does everything(eats breakfast, brushes his teeth). Overall a very good intro for those kids just starting to read.
