grt start but most easy to already know.......2006-10-28
I mean for a question only book just on mostly friendship and love this is definantly the best I've seen. And I've studied a ton of the good ones and mediocer ones in depth. However, you may likely be able to come up with many of them on your own/find them elsewhere. On e-harm, perfect match, chemistry, or other places. They organized the questions very well also which not all those other sites I mentioned above do. And the authors live in a state of very high quality so it is pretty impressive. I know, I'm tough to please
A really great way to know and understanding the people around you........2006-08-18
This book is wonderful. I thought I knew all of my firends, until this book...WOW! We laugh, cry, even argue but it's all in good clean fun. I love this book and I think that this is a GREAT way to get to know someone. Enjoy!
Great book.......2006-07-20
I have used this book for a long distance relationship, and this books is perfect for such relationship. This book really has some great questions to spark interesting conversations and answers. This is a truly great book if you're looking a book of questions.
Perfect.......2006-06-10
I absolutely love this book. Here's some basics:
* It is small enough to bring with you in your car, or into a restraunt if you are going on a date or something like that.
* There's 2 questions per page, and the book is 318 pages long. So you get over 600 questions. The text is also in large print, so it's easy to read, and easy to just open up the book and ask a question from any given page.
* The book is very well organized. More "innocent" questions are at the front of the book, with more personal questions in the middle, and the MOST private questions in the back.
* Categories are further broken down into subcategories, such as "Youth", "Career", "Habits", "Sex", etc.
The book may not have as many questions as other books, but I still give it 5 stars based on the quality of the questions (fantastic), the organization, and physical dimensions of the book. You can't go wrong here.
Revealing fun........2003-09-17
I just brought this book on a road trip with some people who were actually already good friends but we still learned a whole lot about each other. It was really fun and helped pass the time. We were using each others new found info all weekend to make jokes and laugh. Plus as the holder of the book I could sqeeze in any question I wanted to and pretend it was in the book.

Customer Reviews:
GREAT BOOK.......2007-03-11
I absolutely LOVE this book. My boyfriend and I have had so much fun asking each other questions. I've learned so many new things about him. It's a great book to use when you are bored.
great for building intimacy.......2006-10-12
like the other reviewers i really enjoy this book. my boyfriend and i only discuss about 5 or 6 questions max at any one time but it really gets your juices flowing for discussing your thoughts about love, relationships and sex. i suspect over time your answers to some of the questions might even change so this is probably something you could always use through the years to see where a person is on their thoughts about things. it's totall worth the price. i have the other two book of questions as well and i like them a lot too...
Great fun.......2006-08-22
Could be a true test of ones self if you choose to be honest. Fun game to play with others.
Great Questions To Keep A Conversation Moving!.......2006-08-22
This book has really helped me keep the phone conversations with my boyfriend moving. He is in the military, it's long distance, and these questions... while serious... really give us something to talk about. We make it fun and lighthearted, so it works for us!
If you're thinking about buying this book because you want to ask questions of your lover and get to know them better, buy it! You won't be disappointed. It's helped me to get to know another side of my boyfriend, and it's really helped us to stay close while he's away.
There are a lot of good questions, some sort of redundant ones, and some that might be a little too person for you to ask. But if you are open to talking about all aspects of love and sex, then it's perfect for you. It's small and easy to read!
Love This!!.......2005-12-06
This book is so much fun! My Husband and I ask the questions back and forth and it always makes for a good laugh! This is the perfect book to cuddle on the couch with and have a glass of wine! It's also great for parties, or to get conversations started almost anywhere. I love the senerio questions and the ones that make you choose between some of the most important things in life! You'll love this book! I promise!!

"What should you ask someone before you get seriously involved?" Eve Eschner Hogan wondered while she was starting a long-distance relationship with her future husband, Steve Hogan. Intellectual Foreplay is designed to spark stimulation and interest through intimate communication. "Like its physical counterpart, [it] can build excitement and desire--or quickly reveal a lack of compatibility, saving you months, or even years, of developing a relationship that isn't going to work," say the authors.
It's an interesting concept: questions to ask to determine compatibility or just get to know a lover or potential lover better. The book starts with "Who Are You?" questions covering a myriad of topics, such as self-esteem, values, hobbies, trust, romance, spirituality, health, and time management. Other sections include "Where Did You Come From?" (past, family, friends, education, and intelligence), "Where Are You Going?" (money, work, and future), "Can We Live Together?" (home, household responsibilities, food, bathroom, pets, vehicles, garden), and "Where Are We Going?" (vacations, holidays, children, wedding, and sex). Some questions will strike you as significant and others as unsubstantial--choose the ones that intrigue you. Tips for using the questions productively are peppered throughout the book. For example, figure out your top 20 "non-negotiable" questions and answer them yourself before asking them of a partner. It's an interesting spin on relationship deepening, and will certainly spark conversation. --Joan Price
Book Description
This solutions-oriented guide offers problem solving and behavior changing strategies for people working on their most intimate relationships. The book provides readers with: enhanced knowledge of their own and their partners' beliefs, values, habits, desires, goals, likes, and dislikes; ideas for opening communication and deepening a relationship; skills for making healthy decisions about lifestyles and boundaries; an in-depth understanding of the role of self-esteem in relationships; increased ability to let go of the past and embrace the present; and the knowledge that it is important not only to choose the right partner, but also to be the right partner. What distinguishes Intellectual Foreplay from similar titles is that it includes guidelines on what to do with the answers it gives. This makes it useful in both creating and sustaining a relationship.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful. Must read!.......2007-06-29
My fiancée and I are almost through Intellectual Foreplay. We have been using it for several months, slowly going through the chapters. Sometimes questions in different chapters have led us to more fully understand one another, and amazingly at other times questions have caused us to reflect and understand our own selves in different ways. Although a few moments with the book have been a challenge, overall, it has actually been tons of fun. I will soon graduate with my doctorate in clinical psychology and I FULLY plan on recommending this book to any couples with whom I do any type of premarital counseling. It has been a very useful tool in a beautiful journey.
I have heard many, many couples say that the first year of marriage is the most difficult. Couples may not know how a spouse rolls the tooth paste roll or in what areas of life the other individual wishes most to grow. And these may be things that will seem huge and insurmountable once one enters into marriage (yes, even the toothpaste rolling). This book asks almost every question imaginable and I think (and hope)that by covering the many things that couples might not otherwise think to talk it may ease the transition of the first year or in the worst case help a couple identify irreconcilable differences before walking down the isle.
It adds variety and depth to an occasional date night and may enrich a relationship. Highly Recommend.
Highly Recommended.......2007-05-29
I've read many relationship books, but this is by far the most relevant to any relationship, regardless of how long you have been together. This is fortunately not one of those "fluff" books filled with silly ideas and questions, instead this book is filled with many relevant, practical questions, many of which you wouldn't think of, or would take for granted.
This book is broken into seven parts, Using Your Head and Your Heart, Who Are You, Where Did You Come From, Where Are You Going, Can We Live Together, Where Are We Going, Can We Evolve Together. Each part starts with a real life example, so you can see how understanding that issue may be relevant, before moving onto several pages of questions. These questions are also broken down sections- questions to ask each partner, questions to explore as a couple, observations of your partner and self observations.
Going through this book, or just by yourself, you'll come out at the end with a clearer view of yourself and/or your relationship.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-09
I enjoyed this book. My boyfriend and I asked each other the quetions. I think it is great. Some of the questions you always wanted to ask but may have been hesitant to are in there. So you can now blame it on the book -- so to speak. I recommend this for women who are with me who don't open up too easily. This book could be likened to a perverbial can opener. I found out a lot about him, as well as myself.
separated after 32 yrs.......2006-12-31
My wife and I are now separated after 32yrs of marriage(both married at age 20). This book was originally referred to me by my therapist in hopes that it would help me with conversation should I have to begin all over in the dating world. I found some very intense questions that if answered honestly, could help strengthen and intensify or totally dismiss an existing relationship. The questions asked should be answered by everyone prior to a permanent relationship as the answers can provide a true insight into the individuals involved. Pay close attention to questions that deal in future possibilities; such as permanent health and disability issues, though they are hard to imagine until they happen they become quite real and can have a major affect on a relationship. My wife is now reading this book and I am eager, yet apprehensive for her to finish it, because at that time we will discuss whether I will be returning home, more importantly, after she answers the questions, does she want me to return home. I have purchased this book for my 3 adult children, one who is married, for our marriage couselor and for a very good friend who has become involved with someone. Hopefully my wife and I will be able to use this book to help us reconnect and enjoy another 32 yrs. Thank you Eve for sharing your book with us.
Fun and Interesting Way to Get to Know Someone.......2006-12-06
I bought this book a while back hoping that I could gain insight into a pseudo-relationship I was having at the time. The other person did not want to answer the questions. That told me everything I needed to know. The second person (who is now a part of my life) answered every question openly and honestly. We have talked for hours over these questions. I feel like I know this man so much better now than I would have had I not had this book and used it. I also feel secure in knowing that we are on the same page in many areas regarding our future. I give a lot of credit to the questions in this book for that.
The questions range in topics from "what are your political views?" to "what was your favorite childhood memory?" to "what do you want in a relationship?" The questions can be light hearted only requiring a one word answer or they can have a lot of depth and force the 'answeree' to think and make a concerted effort to give a full and meaningful answer. I love the questions and I love this book. Its amazing how many people (myself included in the past) throw themselves into relationships not knowing what type of person the other is or what they each want out of life together or apart. While the questions in the book will not take you to the deepest recesses of a person's mind, it will certainly put you on track to do so. Have fun. Be mindful. Pay attention to how your partner answers these questions. His/Her answers (or lack of) may save you a lot of heartache down the road. ;)
Book Description
The Book to Read Before You Say "I Do"
If you're headed for the altar -- or you're in a serious relationship that could lead to marriage -- you probably already know that issues like love, sex, money, religion, kids, in-laws, and even who has to walk the dog can become potential landmines if you and your partner don't discuss your feelings openly before you take the plunge. Now, Corey Donaldson has put together more than 500 questions -- ranging from playful to provocative -- designed to get you and your partner talking frankly and communicating effectively before you walk down the aisle. Donaldson covers hot topics such as:
* Does it matter to you who earns most of the money?
* What does my family do that annoys you?
* What is the difference, for you, between love and romance?
* What place do you believe religion has in the world?
* How long do you want to wait before having children?
* If I wanted to move away from our families for work, would you support me?
* Who cleans the house?
Perfect for couples in the midst of planning their nuptials, a duo considering "I do," or even partners in established relationships who just want to get to know each other again,
Don't You Dare Get Married Until You Read This! is a must-have for anyone who wants to make their marriage last.

On The Right Track..........2007-08-08
I think the idea is there-- but honestly, if you haven't already asked yourself (and your partner) most of these questions, chances are you shouldn't be getting married. For my fiance and I, this book was a bit of a joke. We read through it together and were actually able to answer FOR each other. I don't think that was the point-- but I applaud Donaldson for encouraging couples to get to KNOW each other before tying the knot.
Don't Dare get married until you read this book - review.......2007-06-04
This is a great book and really helped my fiance and I get closer by going over the questions in the book.
Goo Book, Not Great.......2007-05-10
I Love the Questions in this book but There is not room for me or my boyfriend to write in it. Better if you have a extra notebook to put the question on so you and your parter or you will have plenty of room.
Donaldson's Questions for couples .......2007-02-07
Great book for all couples or single people that are looking for a meaningful relationship while taking an honest look at themselves first.
Recommended it to my college age daughter since she is dating. Wished I had read this book many, many moons ago. Will keep this book as a reference book and/or suggested reading material for my future counseling clients.
Getting to know you better.......2007-02-02
Good, fun, interesting questions to discuss with your significant other. Questions give good insight into how the other person is feeling and what their goals are. Brings better understanding to each other. Brings out those areas where you need to work things out. Asks questions that you normally wouldn't think of this early in the relationship but which are important down the road when you are building your life and family together.

Customer Reviews:
Very limited appeal.......2007-05-01
This book COULD serve a purpose, but only for those who have not yet kissed and/or are under the age of 15 or so. For those, the general information contained in this book, while a bit old-fashioned and repetitive, could be of some use.
For others, however, it will accomplish little. Almost all of the "special" kisses contained in the book are either already widely practiced or self-explanatory and useless. "What is a surprise kiss?" "It's when you are surprised by a kiss." "What is a grudge kiss?" "Its when you kiss someone else after being cheated on." These are not new kisses, they're simply kisses grafted on to outside circumstances.
The advice tends to be constant repetition that boys should slow down, focus more on lip-only kissing, and try to be romantic. Girls should make it clear to the boys that they like that they are interested in kissing them.
Hopefully that saved you a few dollars.
kiss and tell.......2004-01-11
...(This book) is one of the best kissing books ever published. It's full of great kissing advice and for anyone interested in lip-to-lip romantic kissing, there just isn't a better book ...
a great practical guide.......2004-01-11
Here's a book that's great for experienced as well as new kissers. Anyone who cares about the romantic aspect of kissing will love it. The best thing about the book is that William Cane tells you how to do thirty different types of kisses. Most readers probably only know the french kiss so they'll learn a lot of new kissing techniques. The other benefit of the book is that it answers every question you could think of and is the most detailed treatment of the french kiss in print. After reading it you'll enjoy kissing more. Some other reviewers obviously didn't get the humor in the book but there's plenty of it, which is another big plus. A must read!
Boring.......2000-03-14
This book is very childish and the author often forgets that he's suppose to give us information on kissing. Sometimes, he just goes off into wild romance-style passages. I didn't buy the book for that. I want info, info and more info. There are some things that are interesting, but the author seems to have little to offer himself. He shares very little of his own experiences and constantly quotes anonymous school-girls throughout the lamo-book. I don't hate the book, it's just not informative enouph. The author constantly seems to take the woman's side in most issues. What I hated most about this book was that if your ever in a jam with something, lie to get out of it. What happened to honesty? If your going to be in a relationship and be a phony then you may as well not be in one.
Kisses please!.......2000-01-11
I did find a few useful kisses that look intresting...I can't wait to try the finger-kissing on my boyfriend.

Fun!!!.......2007-03-07
This book is a fun read. I love doing quizzes over and over again. I am pleased with this book.
Its good for slumber parties.....sometimes...........2004-04-18
I got this book because I have slumber parties a lot. Well Its fun, but a lot of the quizzes are the same and it gets old after a while. Once you have taken the quiz and all your friends have too it's pointless. We got bored with it really easy.
This Book Rules!!.......2002-11-14
I had endless fun with this funny, informative book. My friends and I love to give the quizzes to each other. The authors are really in touch with what goes on in the life of a teenage girl. My favorite quizzes were "PDAs- How Much is Too Much?" and "Do you always fall for bad boys?" Can't wait for the next edition!!! Good Times!
Customer Reviews:
FUN FACTS 'BOUT OUR FAVORITE SUBJECT!.......2004-04-28
There are lots of fun facts in this book. Although I found it short, I thought it was a nice book for yep, you've guessed it: QUICKIES! For those who are interested in the little facts 'bout sex, and you've read "Sex: A User's Guide" by Stephen Arnott (which I highly recommend BTW), this is a great book to add on to what you've learned. There are definitely things you haven't known before.
Curiously Addicting.......2004-04-16
This book is full of interesting facts and details about the "facts of life." Just when you think you've heard it all, you'll find yourself saying "I didn't know that." There were plenty of things in here I didn't want to know ever, things I didn't want anyone else to know I had read, and other things I just had to read out loud to my wife. Overall...Great trivia and great fun.

Customer Reviews:
Not so much..........2000-10-04
You can't imagine my fiance's disappointment when she unpackaged her copy of this "book." Looking like very little more than a college student's senior thesis, "Don't get married..." has less production value than most vanity published books. It looks like someone cut and pasted together some text in a word processor, but didn't bother with the desktop publishing program.
It reads like a self help book, worse a brochure for a motivational speaker, and quotes Tony Robbins in the frontpiece. The author, in a full color photo striking his best public-speaking pose on the back cover, looks all of 23. Not to be a downer, but I'm not taking advice about how to ensure a successful marriage from someone not old enough to know whether or not he has a successful one, yet. (Unless he got married when he turned 8.)
I can appreciate the marketing of this book because everyone in my office had "heard" how great it was. Unfortunately, I just learned that most of those references came from anonymous emails mentioning the quality of the book. Sounds like the same marketing scheme that propelled Blair Witch Project to such acclaim. Of course, that movie wasn't much of a movie, and "Don't get married..." isn't much of a book.
Save your money. Buy a real book.
Not quite as billed..........2000-10-03
You can't imagine the disappointment on my fiance's when she openned this book. It looks more like a college student's senior thesis than a serious book for soon-to-be wed's. The writing depends too much on bureaucratic prose, followed by long lists of questions printed in too big a font to fill space. Production value illustrates what can be accomplished with a desktop publishing program with only a few hours training (and I mean just a couple of hours of training). Then I spy the photograph of the author, who grins with a Tony Robbins authenticity (who's quoted in the book's frontpiece), and looks all of 23 years old.
No offense, but I'm not taking advice aimed at making a good decision about getting married from an author who doesn't yet know if he's had a successful marriage (unless he's been married since he was 6).
The hype surrounding this book has been a very powerful and successful example of the authoritative power of unsolicited email and reviews. My fiance wanted this book because she "heard" from an email about how wonderful it was. Sort of like Blair Witch Project, for lovers. Unfortunately, the book doesn't live up to the hype. I think Sentinel Press, the vanity publisher I suppose, should be sending refunds. $20 worth, it ain't.
Is This Book Romantic?.......2000-01-30
At first glance, you wouldn't think there was much romance in asking all these questions that this book suggests. However, the most UNromantic thing is a relationship filled with fights and arguments. I wish all my family and friends who have unstable marriages would have read this book before they tied the knot.
