5 out of 5 stars Great learning tool!!!.......2007-09-03

If you do not know where to start with kissing a woman, read this book! It will give you several great techniques to equip you with the tools that
will turn her on!!!

5 out of 5 stars Just wait until you read about the Trobriand Islands kiss!.......2006-08-04

How do you turn a complete amateur into a confident kisser? Read this book, that's how. I got it the summer before I started college. I never dreamed I'd have the confidence that a lot of my roommates seemed to have, but after reading this wonderful book I was a different person. I wasn't dreading kissing, I was actually looking forward to it. You learn not only all the different kisses - there are about 35 - but you also learn what the opposite sex likes and dislikes about each one. I'm now happily in a relationship, and my boyfriend tells me I'm the best kisser ever. (I taught him the Trobriand Islands kiss!) My sorority sisters are always borrowing my copy of this book, they get such a kick out of it.

5 out of 5 stars A self-help book that *really* helps!.......2006-07-29

Believe it or not I was 22 before I had my first kiss, and I got this book to help me get over my shyness. Omigod did it help! After I read the first twenty-five pages I was like ready to run out and corner this guy I had a crush on and try a biting kiss on him. So it turns out we were at a party and I got the opportunity. Before you know it I'm using the ideas from the book and had my first kiss, did the biting kiss (he loved it), then went for a french kiss (which he complimented me on), and finished off with a vacuum kiss. Needless to say the book helped me. If you love to kiss, you owe it to yourself to get *this* book. It worked for me, and then some!

5 out of 5 stars What a book!.......2006-07-09

They don't call him the world's leading authority on kissing for nothing! I saw the author on the Today show and that's why I bought this book. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would simply be a bunch of quotes from old poets on kissing, like so many of the other books on the subject, or some simplistic instructions, but THE ART OF KISSING is not just another run of the mill "how to" book. If you're like most people, you probably want something helpful, something you can learn from. This book is the real thing. Over 200 pages of solid advice on everything from lip-o-suction to the french kiss (a whole section!) To the sliding kiss and more. My boyfriends almost pass out when I kiss them these days. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Go with a winner........2006-07-09

Go with a winner. This is hands down the best book on kissing. I'm no neophyte when it comes to kissing, but I bought this book because it's got tons of helpful info for advanced kissers: how to kiss the ear, the neck, the arms; how to use the tongue, the teeth, the lips; how to kiss for a long time, how to vary your technique, how to be a better kisser. Plus it's well written and full of helpful quotes from guys and gals on what they like. Bottom line: after reading it my girlfriend said, "Where'd you learn to kiss like that!"

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Very limited appeal.......2007-05-01

This book COULD serve a purpose, but only for those who have not yet kissed and/or are under the age of 15 or so. For those, the general information contained in this book, while a bit old-fashioned and repetitive, could be of some use.

For others, however, it will accomplish little. Almost all of the "special" kisses contained in the book are either already widely practiced or self-explanatory and useless. "What is a surprise kiss?" "It's when you are surprised by a kiss." "What is a grudge kiss?" "Its when you kiss someone else after being cheated on." These are not new kisses, they're simply kisses grafted on to outside circumstances.

The advice tends to be constant repetition that boys should slow down, focus more on lip-only kissing, and try to be romantic. Girls should make it clear to the boys that they like that they are interested in kissing them.

Hopefully that saved you a few dollars.

5 out of 5 stars kiss and tell.......2004-01-11

...(This book) is one of the best kissing books ever published. It's full of great kissing advice and for anyone interested in lip-to-lip romantic kissing, there just isn't a better book ...

5 out of 5 stars a great practical guide.......2004-01-11

Here's a book that's great for experienced as well as new kissers. Anyone who cares about the romantic aspect of kissing will love it. The best thing about the book is that William Cane tells you how to do thirty different types of kisses. Most readers probably only know the french kiss so they'll learn a lot of new kissing techniques. The other benefit of the book is that it answers every question you could think of and is the most detailed treatment of the french kiss in print. After reading it you'll enjoy kissing more. Some other reviewers obviously didn't get the humor in the book but there's plenty of it, which is another big plus. A must read!

1 out of 5 stars Boring.......2000-03-14

This book is very childish and the author often forgets that he's suppose to give us information on kissing. Sometimes, he just goes off into wild romance-style passages. I didn't buy the book for that. I want info, info and more info. There are some things that are interesting, but the author seems to have little to offer himself. He shares very little of his own experiences and constantly quotes anonymous school-girls throughout the lamo-book. I don't hate the book, it's just not informative enouph. The author constantly seems to take the woman's side in most issues. What I hated most about this book was that if your ever in a jam with something, lie to get out of it. What happened to honesty? If your going to be in a relationship and be a phony then you may as well not be in one.

3 out of 5 stars Kisses please!.......2000-01-11

I did find a few useful kisses that look intresting...I can't wait to try the finger-kissing on my boyfriend.

Book Description

What's it like to be best friends with a Rock and Roll legend?

Bob McAdams and Gordon G.G. Gebert have been asked that question more times than they care to remember, each having the dubious distinction of being members of the KISS inner circle.

People never seem to get enough of all their outrageous stories and finally after re-telling these tales about Ace Frehley and KISS for the umpteen thousandth time - Bob and Gordon decided to tell their stories one last time in "KISS and Tell!"

This book exposes the hidden reality of some of Rock and Roll's most excessive characters:

* Gene Simmons * Paul Stanley * Ace Frehley * Peter Criss *

Boh McAdams became Paul "Punky" Frehley's closest childhood friend around 1963 and remained friends to adulthood where each served as Best Man at each other's weddings.

Gordon G.G. Gebert became Bob's successor as "best friend and cohort" with Ace in 1985 until Gordon and Ace's controversial falling out in 1993.

Together, they have put to pen the most fascinating expose' in recent memory, full of candid details surrounding the lives of rock and roll's most secretive band, whose superstar status was perhaps the least interesting aspect of their twisted persona. Yes, it's about the power, fame, money, sex and madness associated with rock and roll and the lives of those who came in contact with these living legends (and everything you'd expect from the world's greatest rock band on the planet.) But better still, there is a comic insanity in these episodes that go beyond cartoon characters or the fictional members of Spinal Tap than actual human beings. "KISS and Tell" is the epitome of the classic cliche "Truth is stranger than fiction!"

Here is a "behind the scenes" view of KISS with inside stories they wouldn't want you to know.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars ace in all his glory!.......2007-08-26

this is a great read, with many funny and heart-warming stories from the authors about their time with mr. frehley. the funniest/best story of all, though, is the one about how ace never flushes the commode when he has a bowel movement!! that story alone is worth buying the book for.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting, Questionable and Sad.......2007-04-12

Being a long time fan of Kiss and especially Ace Frehley I was curious to read it. If all this is true and not embellished, Ace seems to have no respect for friends, family, bandmates or fans. It is hard to believe that someone could live like this and survive. Truth or not it was a good read with lots of laughs. I still enjoy Ace Frehley as a musician and I am sure there are a lot of good qualities about him that did not make the book.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best books on Ace Frehley and KISS.......2005-04-09

Kiss & Tell is absolutely one of the funniest books I've ever read. A guilty pleasure.
Read Kiss & Tell along with Into The Void... With Ace Frehley and you'll get the "big picture". You'll feel like you're there.

2 out of 5 stars Friends or Foe?.......2004-08-24

The one thought i had about reading this book is are
these indeed friends of Ace Frehley or enemies?
As friends they sure make Ace out to be a total deadbeat
person and pig of a man. I am sure Ace had some good
points and positive sides to him. These so-called friends
of his only wrote about the down-side of Ace Frehley.
I would of enjoyed to hear the good and the bad, not
all the disgusting aspects of his life.
Therefore i think the authors of this book only concentrated
on the bitter bad side of Ace to make their story more
interesting to market instead of showing an honest view
of Ace Frehley. I am sure that with the bad comes some good
in the man we know as the SpaceMan. I have faith in that.

2 out of 5 stars I't's not only Ace.......2004-07-02

People are sometimes outraged that this book makes a lot of not proven bad claims against Ace. Well, maybe they are true (what you turn Ace into s despisable, VERY despisable person), maybe they are not.

But, the point is: I think it has become incresingly clear along the years that KISS was only interested in money EVER. Never cared about the fans in a real sense. Their merit was making good rock albums that had enormous influence over a lot of musicians. But the guys in Kiss... Urgh, they all su..k.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Things you know... but don't know........2002-06-02

For me what this book did was move things I had been feeling about hugging up from the unspoken part of my mind to the page. There's nothing ground breaking here, but if you are looking to imrpove your hugging skills it is a reasonably priced fast-reading solution.

If you're looking for a book of "How to get laid by hugging" you may as well keep looking.

4 out of 5 stars A Heartwarming Informative Guide.......2000-01-16

I enjoyed this book very much. I definitely agree that hugging is essential in all relationships, but especially romantic ones. It was wonderful how the author described various types of hugs and how each one is good for us. I like how emphasis is put more on love, intimacy and tenderness then on pure sex. Of course sensual hugs are nice as well, but we need to balance physical, emotional and spiritual needs in relating to each other. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking greater love and intimacy in their lives.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2000-01-06

I personally didn't enjoy this book, but it could be fun for others. It's in the same style as "The Art of Kissing" except a bit shorter (140 pages instead of 180). It's printed on cheap paper, and contains no photographs or illustrations. After a short introduction and discussion about sex differences in hugging, the bulk of the book describes 19 hugging styles, like "The Unrequited Hug" and "The Heart-to-Heart Hug". And finally, there is a chapter on hugging techniques, looking at issues like: How do you hug a baby? and Why do some people refuse to Hug?

2 out of 5 stars Restating the obvious.......1999-05-17

Are you or anyone you know really going to be satisfied with...a hug? I went straight to the book this author borrowed his title from: The Art of Sensual Massage. Now THAT'S more like it!

5 out of 5 stars A great book on the suject !!!!.......1998-10-26

North Americans would certainly be viewed as more friendly if they knew how to hug more often. It is a shame that hugging is not practiced very often in North America. Perhaps that's why North American women likes Latin American lovers....

    Book Description

Through her use of color and assemblage, Jessica Stockholder challenges familiar generic boundaries between painting and sculpture, while de-familiarizing the experience of the exhibition space--not to mention giving the impression of a K-Mart store that's been bulldozed by a group of feminist abstract expressionists. In 1988, Stockholder created the self-contained assemblage Kissing the Wall No. 2 an old-fashion projector screen wrapped in newspaper and plaster that stands like a bad child facing a florescent lamp secured to the wall. This seminal work, from which this exhibition and catalogue take their name, uses the gallery wall as a screen kissed by various objects in what the artist calls "an emotionally charged event." This work, in which found objects become actors in the drama of space and color, is exemplary of the many objects gathered together for this retrospective look at Stockholder's self-contained assemblages since 1988. Includes an interview with the artist, scholarly essays, an annotated chronology, and a detailed exhibition and publication history.

This is a tastefully done album on the subject of the 'kiss'. The visual examples are not vulgar. The quotations are a delight and make for enjoyable easy reading. A page- turner.
Here are a few examples of the wisdom cited in the book.

" A kiss something you cannot give without taking, or take without giving." ( Anonymous)

"Soul meets soul in lover's kisses" ( Shelley)

" The Universe exists in a kiss, hangs on the hold of a kiss. (Zalman Shneour)

The book is without deep or prolonged philosophical consideration of the meaning of different kinds of 'kisses'.
The kisses in question are 'romantic kisses' of usually young man and woman.

There are not in this book the kisses of a mother for a child, or at the other end of life, the parting kiss at the closing of the eyes of one leaving the world.
This book is thus for those whose mind and hearts are in 'romantic love' for the young in spirit primarily.

      5 out of 5 stars Ideal Gift.......2004-12-26

I was given a copy of this book years ago and some of the quotes within still stay with me even though the book is now miles away. Quotes from people such as Byron and Rossetti, even accommodating certain lines from Casablanca, as well as art from people such as Klimt makes this a beautiful gift for either man or woman. Some quotes are touching, some funny, and all capture different aspects of the affection and warmth conveyed by the pursing of our lips and making a kind of sucking motion... which as the book tells us, should be done in contact with someone, otherwise you could just be calling a horse! A real pleasure to read and raises a smile throughout

Dogs and babies, old men, lovers, parents and children -- some of the most moving kisses ever recorded on film are here. Tom Robbins writes in the introduction: "No kiss is ever wasted, not even on the winless l0ttery ticket kissed for luck. Kiss trees. Favorite books. Bowling balls. Old Jews sometimes kiss their bread before eating it, and those are good kisses too. The best kisses, though, are those between lovers, because those are the consequential ones, the risky ones, the transformative ones, the ones that call the nymphs and satyrs back to life, the many-layered kisses that we dive into as into a fairy-tale frog pond or the warm whirlpool of our origins."

5 out of 5 stars Famous photographic kisses of the 20th century.......2006-09-09

This is not a narrow-minded boy kisses girl tribute to heterosexual romance although there are lots of pictures like that. The book contains 60 black and white pictures that span the 20th century from 1915 to 1988. In addition to the heterosexual romantic kiss there are men kissing men, women kissing women, people kissing animals, animals kissing people and other animals, children kissing each other, adults kissing children, people kissing statues, statues kissing statues, kissing in the foreground, kissing in the background, and even a person kissing the pope's ring.

Each picture has the photographer's name beneath it and a list at the end of the book lists the photographer, the title, the date, and the owner of each photo. Two are from before the 1920s, three are from the 1920s and 30s, eight are from the 1940s, nine are from the 1950s, five from the 1960s, eleven from the 1970s, and 12 are from the 1980s. Ten have no dates associated with them.

These are famous photographic kisses. Included are William Mortensen's The Kiss, Robert Doisneau's Le Baiser de l'Hotel de Ville, Dennis Stock's Cafe de Flore, Weegee's Palace Theater, an untitled kiss by Elliott Erwitt, Louis Stettner's On a Dutch Ferry, and Alfred Eisenstaedt's Times Square VJ Day,

There are also pictures by Peter Marlow, Bruce Davidson, Joan E. Biren (JEB), Chris Steele-Perkins, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Leonard Freed, André Kertész, Burt Glinn, Mary Ellen Mark, Ernst Haas, Barbara Crane, Gilles Peress, Lou Stoumen, Josef Koudelka, and Sage Sohier and many others.

Combine this with a delightful essay on the history and importance of kissing by Tom Robbins and you have a great book. It would make a wonderful gift for a lover or a friend. Buy one for yourself and be inspired.
