5 out of 5 stars Practical ideas that produce results.......2007-07-13

You won't get rich from simply reading a "How to Get Rich" book and you won't get organized and productive from just reading any book - you have to take action and implement the ideas.

I have used the principles and ideas outlined in "Getting Organized" for several years and found them to be extremely valuable.

Becoming more organized and productive is not a matter of what type of filing system or PDA you use, it involves making a habit of organized and productive behavior.

This book provides concrete tools for forming those habits. Simply outstanding!

5 out of 5 stars a nice, integrated system.......2007-07-03

Crouch has some very solid ideas here, with practical applications. Worth looking at.

1 out of 5 stars Look at the reviews carefully.......2007-05-10

I wish I would have looked at the reviews carefully before buying this piece of fluff! I now took the time to look at more than the gold stars and actually read those reviews, and it seems that 99.9% of them were written by people who have paid to have this author give seminars at their offices. I have a feeling they got a discount for each 5 star review they gave.

When you can't handle email or incoming/outgoing paperwork, no book OR seminar is going to help you ... perhaps your career path should begin with a McJob!

If you are looking for REAL organization books that apply to your home and office space, I suggest "Organizing From The Inside Out" and "Sink Reflections".

2 out of 5 stars Will only be helpful for a few........2007-04-14

The book was NOT what I was expecting based on prior reviews. This is NOT a guide to life organizing and prioritizing but rather the author's idea of handling office incoming mail, a filing reminder system for phone calls to be made and work to be done, keeping things one needs to share with another individual in a central location, and scheduling and consolidating that sharing. For those who don't need a computer to do their job, have a memory like a sieve, or are super disorganized and don't know where to begin to start, this might be helpful, otherwise, save your money. His ideas are only practical in a low volume paperwork environment and with those who have non-technical professions. Some kind of portable, daily planner or calendar or a computer syncing PDA is much more practical.

5 out of 5 stars Great Ideas to incorporate in everyday situations.......2007-03-18

Although the book was more concise than expected, I learned some values that I will always use. Recommend this book with its witty content.

5 out of 5 stars Missing References.......2007-06-27

I love the book in and of itself. It is very clear and concise as to both theory and process for pursuing the Accountable Leadership process.

My one bug with the book is that there is little in the way of any Biblical study and underpinning to this. I find that too bad because it is a good organizational model that can be demonstrated from Biblical principles. It would have been immensely helpful to have more on that end.

That does not diminish my rating since what the book proposes to do it does very well. I highly recommend this book to church leadership both staff and lay leaders.

5 out of 5 stars Change the title.......2006-11-10

The title and cover are horrible. Had a friend not recommended the book, I would have never read it.
The content of the book, however, is amazing. Well done and very, very helpful. Every church leader should read this book.

    Book Description

The empirical analysis of party organizations and party organizational change has long remained one of the least developed fields of study in comparative politics. Despite much discussion about the supposed `crisis of party' and the `decline of party' in Western Democracies, we still know remarkably little about what goes on inside political parties. How Parties Organize takes a close look inside political parties, bringing together the findings of an international team of leading scholars. Building on a unique set of cross-national data on party organizations, the contributors explain how parties organize, how they have changed, and how they have adapted to the changing political and organizational circumstances in which they find themselves. Offering the most systematic and comprehensive analysis of how parties organize in contemporary Europe and the United States, this volume is essential reading for scholars and students of comparative politics and party politics.

    Customer Reviews:

    3 out of 5 stars Too much.......2007-09-15

Seems like he tries to organize the whole world in this book. Because of that, each little tidbit is not thorough enough. I guess if you need some hints to get started on something, he's got it in here, but for a more thorough and step-by-step process, try another resource.

5 out of 5 stars Literally EVERYTHING Is Organized.......2007-09-05

Holy canoly! I never realized how many things in life can be organized. I don't believe there is a subject Peter didn't touch upon! This is definitely a book to keep in my now small library as a handy reference guide.

    5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Terrific!.......2007-06-21

I (used to) have seventeen boxes of self-help books in my garage. They were neatly boxed and labeled, but they were there. Now that I own "How To Organize (Just About) Everything" they're gone. I don't need them.

All the soul-searching I did in the 1960s, and the newer digging deep inside myself for answers I fell for during the 1980s have been compressed into one-page solutions to life's challenges in this terrific book.

I don't have to analyze why I want a piece of chocolate; I just have to eat it right. My husband doesn't have to mourn not becoming an astronaut; he can simply read what to do if he decides to become world's oldest man in space.

Many of the people who don't like this book seem to want something "more." Well, I've been to More and back again, and this book suits me just fine. If you're not looking for deep psychological or philosophical answers, this book is wonderful!

    4 out of 5 stars Different Opinion.......2007-06-07

I found the sillier lists, like Becoming an Astronaut, Winning an Academy Award and Becoming President, to be interesting and gave a good perspective. Also, the Pirates one was talking about literal modern day pirates- people who come on your boat and steal your stuff, not rum-drinking one-legged pirates of yore.

Everyone's situation is going to be different- it'd be impossible to write a book that addresses every minutiae for varying situation. But it's easy to get the basic ideas- for instance, to organize anything, you need to take everything out of the space, and then put the stuff you still want back in the space. That's an astoundingly simple but good solution. It gave me good ideas on food trees, car rallies, and block parties, too.

4 out of 5 stars The Practical Guide to Joint Ventures and Corporate Alliance.......2000-04-26

An excellent "cookbook" approach to Joint Ventures and Alliances. Without drilling down to excessive detail the author addresses the basics of the strategic, financial, legal, and operational challenges of such business partnerships. He utilizes a series of phases to describe the life-cycle of such arrangements. Of note is the use of numerous examples of both successful and unsuccessful JV's and alliances. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in utilizing these complex business arrangements.

5 out of 5 stars If someone you love is seriously ill.......2007-01-12

This book is an excellent guide for establishing a support system for someone who is unable to meet their own daily living needs - for a short or long period of time, temporarily or until their death. Addressing both the emotional and logistical aspects of caring for someone, it provides a step-by-step path that can easily be modified to meet your specific needs. And all of the forms you'd ever need to stay organized and communicate with the rest of the team. My good friend has terminal cancer, and we are using it to coordinate local and long distance support for her and her husband. It really means that no one has to do it alone and that everyone who participates does so in a way that works for them and sustains the group over the long haul. I highly recommend this guide.

4 out of 5 stars What a help when the chips are down!.......2005-10-11

This book and the system it so beautifully outlines is a must for anyone who is dealing with either a degenerating disease, a transplant, a major crisis (even if not one of health).

5 out of 5 stars Share the Care.......2005-07-19

This is an easy to read, step-by-step "how to" book complete with all the necessary forms and online forms and assistance as well. Reading this book will help a group of friends know the best way to care for an ill or injured friend, both long and short-term.

5 out of 5 stars an absolute must have.......2005-01-02

As part of a newly forming group that will be caring for a dear friend with ALS, this book is a godsend. It outlines everything from how to conduct the first meeting to getting all the day to day tasks done without the patient having to continually ask for help and without anyone getting burned out. No one over commits and no one is assigned tasks for which he or she is unsuited.

5 out of 5 stars This book will get you on the right path!.......2003-05-06

This book was truly a blessing to our family. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) a year ago. Her brother found this book and passed it on to us. Using this book as a guide, we created a "Share the Care" group to help meet all of her needs - both physical and emotional. Our group now has over 40 members - some people take regular shifts during the week, others just help in ways that they can, like bringing over dinner once in while.

Often times, friends and family of the ill want to help, but they don't know how - this book helps to organize a group that can "share the care" so that everything doesn't fall on one or two people. It prevents the "burn out" that can occur with care giving.

When you read this book, it's important to remember that it is a guide. Stay flexible enough to use what works and mold a group that will work for your specific situation instead of gettting frustrated if you find that certain aspects of the program are not working for your group.

The bottom line is that this book will get you on the right path to making a difficult time much more manageable. Good luck!

    5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!.......2006-09-17

This is an EXCELLENT resource on how to set up literacy stations in the primary grades where students are engaged in authentic reading, writing, discussing, researching, and thinking activities. No more "keep them busy" worksheets! I realized that my students will learn MUCH more when I allow them to conduct research on a topic of interest with a buddy and then choose how to present their findings to the class, or pretend to be the teacher while reading a favorite read-aloud to a small group, or engage in easy-to-create word play games. Those are just a few of the MANY ideas I gained for my 3rd grade classroom from this wonderful resource. The book also explains how to maximize your classroom space for optimum use of stations, how to make accomodations for the different learners in your classroom, how to incorporate the various subject areas into your stations, and how to gradually release responsibility for learning to your students. An EXCELLENT resource--I only wish I'd come across it sooner!
