Customer Reviews:
I love this Creative Wedding Showers Book! .......2007-07-22
This is a great book for how to make invitations to planning games and favors for your wedding shower. I plan to use some of the ideas in here for my bridal shower. There are 10 themes to choose from such as 12 hour shower (ideas for different times of day), Spa Bridal Shower, Tis the Season, Victorian, and Hawaiian theme among others. The author gives you all you need for making invitations, favors, and playing games to go along with the themes in the book. However, I do wish she would have made the invitations into full size patterns (adding that would not have been hard--just extra pages at the back) instead of having to enlarge the patterns. You'll also like the recipes included in the book. Have fun planning your shower around one of these themes!
Wonderful!.......2007-02-04
This book is awesome if you like to do crafts. I love doing crafts but I am not as crafty as other people. When me and the other bridesmaid started to do our invitations we thought we were getting in over our heads but the directions were easy and it turned out to be a great success. I posted the photos of our apron invitations on here for people to view. I highly recommend this book to anyone! It has a lot of different themes and beautiful invitations, decorations and ideas for bridal showers.
Fabulous Shower Book.......2007-01-15
This is a fabulous book for showers or just themed party planning. It will come in handy in the future. The pictures are great and the ideas are complete, from menu, to décor to favors! A great find for the crafty. I also bought Wedding Showers by Adams & Russo and loved it too.
great ideas.......2005-10-23
This book offers great ideas for shower themes, favors, games, menus, etc. including pictures and step-by-step instructions. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some trendy wedding shower ideas.
Beautiful ideas!.......2005-05-15
I don't know about you, but most of the bridal shower books I found before this all seemed to have the same old tired stuff. FINALLY someone came up with some beautiful, orginal ideas! The invitations, favors, and decorations in this book are really very creative and pretty, and most are fairly easy to make. She offers menu ideas, recipes, and activities that go with each party theme. I really liked the way she used color in her themes. I also liked the full-page color photos for each theme, and the step-by step instructions also had a photo for EACH step. Vey nicely done! Ms. Dewberry, if you are reading this -- I'd love to see a book on creative BABY showers as well!
Book Description
A wedding invitation heralds the good news of two people making a commitment and also reveals the style and tone of that highly anticipated day. Gone are the days when a couple's major decision about their invitations was choosing between white or ecru paper-today's invitations come in an incredible array of materials, colors, textures, sizes, and shapes. And the often complex structure of modern families makes wording invitations a challenge. The first book to fully address these topics, Wedding Invitations takes couples from original idea to finished product, no matter how simple or extravagant their vision.
The book presents both traditional and modern designs, details the many different types of inks, papers, and printing methods available, and discusses how to deal with ceremony cards, response cards, maps, and other enclosures. The text covers all aspects of invitation etiquette, from acknowledging various family members in the most appropriate way, to properly wording inner and outer envelopes. Wedding Invitations offers advice on desktop publishing, working with a designer or calligrapher, papermaking, and doing your own letterpress printing. Since many guests cherish the invitation as a memento long after the ceremony has passed, this is a must-have for the newly engaged. AUTHOR BIO: JENNIFER CEGIELSKI is a writer and editor and the former content director of The Knot. She has covered all aspects of weddings, from gowns to flowers to cakes. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.
DANA GALLAGHER is a New York City-based photographer specializing in food, still life, and interiors for clients such as Martha Stewart Living, House & Garden, and Food & Wine.
Customer Reviews:
Too wordy, not enough visuals.......2007-05-14
I was excited about the topic of this book, because I am a graphic designer and I am called upon to design invitations from time to time. However, I was a little disappointed with the content of this book. It did give a thorough background of the printed wedding invitation, written information about each possible invitation component, and some helpful pointers for a bride. However, there were very few photos and the images provided were fairly basic invitations - not very imaginative. If I had flipped through this book in the bookstore, I doubt I would have spent the money.
Not that great.......2006-03-18
The book is pretty and has a bit of useful information, but definitely not what I was looking for. You can get most of the information on the internet anyway. Save your money.
a wealth of information--even beyond the wedding.......2005-07-07
I have to admit, while planning my wedding I was hesitant at first to purchase a book that seemed to be on only one wedding topic. But being into stationery and typography, I'm glad I took a chance on this one. I wanted our wedding invitation to be really special (we have been together a long time and already have a child), and this book helped us achieve that goal. All the bases are covered, so you really understand what all your options are in a simple, non-overload way. This book is like a "master class", and is great for anybody who is interested in printing, stationery or invitations in general.
A lot of useful information.......2005-06-23
I'm not sure what the reviewer below was reading because this book contains everything you could ever hope to know about wedding invitations. It's definitely visually attractive, but it's the useful information (even gives you a timeline for you invites to make sure you're on track which I am often not!) that make this a must-have item for anyone about to get married.
Pretty but useless.......2005-06-17
It looks cute (like Martha Stewart's magazines) but did not contain one usefull piece of advice. Since most of us only do this once, there is not too much personal experience to draw from. Therefore we look to the professionals for ideas, sample wording and help.
This was total waste of time unless I was going to have each invitation hand written or tied with a rhinestone buckle.
Book Description
No one brings the knowledge, elegance, and good taste to weddings and wedding stationary that Crane does. From announcing the engagement to writing that final thank you note, Crane has helped thousands of brides prepare for, and create the mood for, their special days. Now, with Crane's Wedding Blue Book, every bride can have a private consultation with the best in the business. Steven L. Feinberg directs customer development for Crane & Co. and travels extensively, giving workshops and seminars on stationary style and etiquette.
Customer Reviews:
Good reference for addressing envelopes.......2002-07-20
I think this book is most useful for it's explanation of how the envelopes for wedding invitations are addressed (i.e. who's name goes first, what do you write on the inner envelope, etc.) I even found out how to address one to an Archdeacon! It also has helpful Q & A sections.
An etiquette book with an attitude........1997-08-13
From the very beginning of the book, the author has a chip on his shoulder.
Basically, Feinberg works for Crane's Stationery. Okay, fine. However, he almost immediately feels the need to discredit any etiquette maven who has said that you don't need a complete set of obscure, engraved stationery to generate proper correspondence.
However, if there's something wedding-related that you want to do in style, there's a good chance that he'll have an answer for you. Wedding, shower and party invitations; thank-you notes; reaffirmations of vows; etc. If you want to do it with engraved stock, he'll happily give you the proper way to do it. And if you happen to get that stock from Crane's, all the better, right?
Granted, the author is still a stickler for
wording conventions and will give you a flat-out "No" on many current standards. Examples abound, and I believe there's a section on how to address certain political figures.
This book could be a handy reference to hand around between couples as more and more of your
peers marry. Concise with a good index, the author's execuction, if not his motives, are presented quite smoothly.

Customer Reviews:
Great ideas for everyone........2007-04-16
I think this book has great ideas and styles for everyone. Some of the ideas are very simple that anyone could do (I am not an artsy/creative person at all), while other ideas are for the more crafty person.
This book was so helpful to me, I saved a lot of money and my invitations are much more personable and more my style than anything I could have bought at a store.
Must be crafty.......2007-04-12
I have found that I am obviously not very crafty. The book tries to lay out the details on how to make the invitations for those of us that are crafty challenged. I decided that there was to much work involved with making your own invitations. There are very nice designs in the book for those people that are willing to put the time and effort into making the invitations.
Wedding Invitations.......2007-03-08
I was looking for more formal invitation options. The term "artful" is correct in the title, for they were crafty. I did not find them to be "stylish" according to my taste.
Helpful.......2007-02-21
This is a nice book. However, it would have been even better if there were more invitation styles included in the book.
Fun and creative ideas.......2006-11-10
This book has a lot of creative ideas for sending out your standard wedding invitation. None of them are extremely hard (though I would skip the one that has your photo plastered onto some sort of zippered card).
Book Description
A stunning visual companion to the newest film from Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), featuring storyboards, movie stills, and Burton's own drawings.
Corpse Bride carries on in the dark, romantic tradition of Tim Burton's classic films Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Set in a 19th century European village, this stopmotion, animated feature follows the story of Victor (Johnny Depp), a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham-Carter), while his real bride, Victoria (Emily Watson), waits bereft in the land of the living. Though life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love. It's a tale of optimism, romance and a very lively afterlife, told in a classic Tim Burton style.
Like Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, this official visual companion showcases spectacular movie stills, sketches, paintings, and Tim Burton's own drawings. Covering preproduction, production, and post-production, sections detail character realization, set development and construction, puppet fabrication, costuming, and stop-motion filming. The book's final part retells the film's story in images with synopsis, storyboards, and lyrics. 140 color illustrations.

Fast delivery, perfect condition.......2007-08-01
I paid for expedited shipping of this book and received it two days earlier than I expected. The book was in perfect condition. I definitely recommend this seller!
Lots of good information.......2007-01-05
If you are looking for a book with a little bit of insight into the creation of the Corpse Bride film, this is good choice. Nice selection of production pictures and concept artwork with a good description of the processes involved.
The book covers puppet making, music creation and a small scale time line of concept to film.
If you love the film, you shoudn't miss the book........2006-04-17
I bought this book several months ago in a local bookstore. The photos and images in the book attracted my attention almost immediately, although at that time I've only heard of the film but haven't watched it. Like other behind-the-scenes books, it shows how they produced the film in every detail, from beginning to end. I especially like the concept sketches and the black humor. The production process also provides a good reference to the making of stop-motion animation, which makes this book unique. If you like the the film or stop-motion animation, I believe this book won't disappoint you.
The lush tie-in book for CORPSE BRIDE.......2006-03-18
TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE: AN INVITATION TO THE WEDDING is the lush movie book accompaniment to tie into the release of TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE, and includes a foreword by Burton, details on his film, storyboards, his drawings, and more. It arrived too late for more timely holiday mention but the movie is certain to be a hit for many months and any viewer or would-be viewer will continue to find TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE an excellent guide to the movie.
Corpse book.......2006-03-10
I am a student of the great art of stop-motion-animation. For those interested in this pioneering addition to the art form or just interested in what it takes to write plan and pull off a feature length animation this is a great book. Lots of colot photos, concept sketches and digital concept art as well as the writing itself tells a lot about what it took to pull it all together. Well worth it to own as a reference and the coffee table.

With This Book, You Can Do It.......2004-06-19
With this book -- and a lot of practice -- I was able to do the calligraphy for my daughter's wedding.
The book includes a number of romantic alphabets in styles from Celtic to modern, forms for invitations, many examples of custom woprk, and step-by-step instructions for projects ranging from favors to menu cards to guest books. There are also suggestions for working with a professional calligrapher.
This is a practical book for anyone planning a wedding.
Book Description
Wedding ceremonies get the full bead treatment in this handbook of ways to add a decorative, personal touch to nuptials. The more than 75 projects are aimed at beginning beaders—but provide plenty of ideas for more experienced crafters—and are perfect not just for brides but also for family and friends. A teaching section introduces readers to techniques that appear throughout the book in projects that defy the idea that beadwork is limited to jewelry. Patterns for tiaras, veils, cake toppers, centerpieces, invitations, guest mementos, and even venue decorations are included, bringing the unforgettable sparkle and shine of beaded embellishment to all parts of a wedding party.
Customer Reviews:
Horrible.......2007-07-23
The ideas are plain and there is nothing out of the ordenary. All the projects is simple and no book is needed to think up any of these ideas. I'm very dissappointed in this book.

Nearly 2.5 million couples will walk down the aisle in 2001 and each couple will want to find the perfect words to make their wedding as eloquent as it is elegant. Fathers and mothers of brides and grooms, bestmen, maids of honor, friends, and family will want to find a creative way to express the sentiments of the day. This book will show them how.
With hundreds of classical and contemporary poems, quotes, quips, and blessings to choose from, no one involved in the wedding celebration will be at a loss for words. A must-have guide for anyone involved with a wedding.
Customer Reviews:
Great for Words, Not So Good for Instructions.......2007-01-30
I should begin by saying I am a practicing non-denominational and interfaith minister. I've been writing and performing marriage ceremonies for many years, now. "Words for the Wedding" is an excellent source of non-Biblical readings, poems, quotations, and other words that can be used within a wedding ceremony, or in a toast, or even on an invitation or thank-you card. It contains many citations I have never seen before, and which are really quite good! On that score, this book is great!
Unfortunately, the authors also offer instructions on writing your own ceremony and vows, and how one interacts with clergy or other individuals who officiate wedding ceremonies. This part is a little misleading.
Most embers of the clergy have a specific liturgy they use for weddings. More liberal practitioners, will often create a place for "personal vow" statements and include specially requested readings in the ceremony. And, we often adjust our content based on the preferences of the bride and groom. But for many reasons, the overall ceremony will follow a basic structure and most of the specific content will be chosen by the person performing the ceremony. There are very few marriage ceremonies that are actually written by the bride and groom.
So my suggestion is, use the content of this book as a treasure trove of interesting and romantic writings that can be incorporated into your wedding. But please, check with the person who will perform the ceremony before spending a lot of time planning and writing your own text.
It has tons of Readings for your wedding day!.......2005-12-28
From Shakespeare to Sleepless in Seattle, this is one of the best weddding vow books I have read. It offers many reading to choose from. Creating a day that will be unique to the couple getting married, and choosing their own vows.
A mixed resource.......2003-03-12
Lots of quotations in this book -- many too short or of dubious distinction to include in a wedding ceremony (do you really want to quote a TV or movie character in your wedding?? I don't). The material unique to this volume seemed as if it would be much more useful as humorous or thoughtful snippets to use in the wedding program or toasts. The poetry and short readings are largely selections that you can find elsewhere (many of them the usual suspects), so the real contribution of this book is in the more popular cultural references mentioned above, if your sensibility tends that way.
The thematic/contextual organization is strong and fairly comprehensive -- covering not only the ceremony, but also other kinds of "words" performed at a wedding, such as toasts. I'd suggest using this book with a more substantive and original anthology, such as Into the Garden.
From Romantic to Raucous..........2002-12-12
After I read a lot of these type of books in preparation for my own wedding, I selected this one because of its wide range of time periods, subjects, and types of quotes and selections. Words for the Wedding is perfect if you're interested in a good read with lots of fun, inspiring, or romantic shorter selections for incorporating into other places such as programs, favors, personal vows and toasts. I will admit though, that I did not like many of the longer pieces as much as the shorter ones.
Really useful.......2002-06-29
This is a great book; packed with a huge variety of quotes, poems, excerpts. Perhaps my one complaint is that many of the quotes are too short to be used as readings, if that's what you're looking for. But overall the book uses a wide range of creative sources (movies, love letters, poetry, plays, etc.) and will give you lots of ideas and starting points for elements of your own wedding.

.......2007-07-27
This book has easy to follow directions in back on how to do everything and has many cute ideas.
They mainly have the how-to of wedding invitations so if you are looking for a variety of ideas this isn't the book for you.
Great Invitation Instructions.......2007-06-08
I first checked this book out at my Library, but I got tired out the overdue fees and finally purchased it. I used a couple of the designs in the book as the basis for my invitations. The instructions are great and there are a variety of designs and ideas. People still tell me that we had the most beautiful invitations!
Not worth buying...get it at the library.......2006-10-24
This is a so-so book, at best. It doesn't show that many ideas, and they are largely focused towards invitations. If you're not making your invitations, this book probably isn't worth looking at. There are a few things to glance at, but all in all, this book shows nothing new and isn't really worth buying. I was disappointed by what was in the book---with a very few exceptions, it's all about using different papers to make invitations.
