Book Description
Loop me in, odd one. The words, spoken in the deep of night by a sleeping child, chill
the young man watching over her. For this was a favorite phrase of Stormy Llewellyn,
his lost love, and Stormy is dead, gone forever from this world. In the haunted halls of
the isolated monastery where he had sought peace, Odd Thomas is stalking spirits of an infinitely darker nature
Through two New York Times bestselling novels Odd Thomas has established himself as one of the most beloved and unique fictional heroes of our time. Now, wielding all the power and magic of a master storyteller at the pinnacle of his craft, Dean Koontz follows Odd into a singular new world where he hopes to make a fresh beginning—but where he will meet an adversary as old and inexorable as time itself.
St. Bartholomew’s Abbey sits in majestic solitude amid the wild peaks of California’s high Sierra, a haven for children otherwise abandoned, and a sanctuary for those seeking insight. Odd Thomas has come here to learn to live fully again, and among the eccentric monks, their other guests, and the nuns and young students of the attached convent school, he has begun to find his way. The silent spirits of the dead who visited him in his earlier life are mercifully absent, save for the bell-ringing Brother Constantine and Odd’s steady companion, the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
But trouble has a way of finding Odd Thomas, and it slinks back onto his path in the form of the sinister bodachs he has met previously, the black shades who herald death and disaster, and who come late one December night to hover above the abbey’s most precious charges. For Odd is about to face an enemy who eclipses any he has yet encountered, as he embarks on a journey of mystery, wonder, and sheer suspense that surpasses all that has come before.
Customer Reviews:
I just love Odd Thomas.......2007-10-10
I fell in love with Odd Thomas with the first book. Now there are three and I loved all of them. Dean Koontz is one of my favorite, but he really got me with this character. I think it got to him, too, as Odd has grown and come back to us in two more books. Will there be more? I will be watching for them.
Brother Odd.......2007-10-05
With a touch of humor and the talent for bring his readers the surreal, Dean Koontz leads us through another adventure of Odd Thomas. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for our undaunted hero!!
Brother Odd.......2007-09-04
This is probably my least favorite in the ODD series of books. The first ODD book clearly is the best. The second one is pretty good, this is so so. It's a short read for a fat book. The print is large & the lines are spaced apart. Koontz's older works are far superior & well worth reading. Go back 10+ years & read those books, Watchers being a favorite of mine. Brother Odd is a book to borrow from a friend or the library, it's not worth purchasing unless you want it because you already have the other 2.
Brother Odd, Odd Plot.......2007-09-01
This is the first Brother Odd novel I have read. The plot is interesting, albeit very eerie and unusual, involving science and ethics and the existence of God. The plot is resolved in a satisfying manner at the conclusion, but on the way to that conclusion, Mr. Koontz wanders off on tangents, explaining details that are often unrelated to the storyline. The character development is effective. Who could not fall in love with meek and humorous Brother Odd and his ghost companion, Elvis?
It's time for me to give another Brother Odd book a chance.
Good not great.......2007-08-28
Any Koontz novel is worthing reading. Not his best work. Not even his best Odd Thomas book. Of course "Odd Thomas" (the first in series) is pretty hard act to follow. I thought it was better than the second in the series but by no means was it up there with "Intensity" (which may be the best/scarriest book ever written). All in all it's a Dean Koontz book so it better than most out there.

Thoughtful analysis.......2007-09-24
This is a very worthwhile book that provides a clear and thoughtful investigation of the behavior of forex markets. There are no false notions that reading this book will automatically make you a millionaire. Instead there is an invitation to use these guidelines to do the work of developing your own system for trading. The author provides guidelines and templates that he uses in trading. More importantly, he provides the basis for a trader to construct his or her own system, based on an ongoing analysis of the basic structure of forex trading, and essential observations of price action. He doesn't downplay the extent to which forex price patterns include elements of unpredictability and randomness. However, he shows how one can learn from observation of what is occurring in the present situation as it unfolds to make trades with increased probabilities for success. This approach does not overemphasize technical analysis, but considers technical analysis as a way to gain confirmation of what is being observed. Thus, the reader is invited to build a system that increases probabilities for success while eschewing the false assumption that the future can be predicted from the past.
Not useful at all........2007-07-27
I tried the concept described in this book in my demo a/c (thank god) for almost 1 1/2 month, even though most of the setup described in this or any other book are chosen to curve fit the formula. The results were random, which would have been the same if I had thrown a dice. My advice is to trade by fundamental news and open a hedge position. Being a lonely trader without the knowledge of so called experts or a team of economic research analyst, for a person like me I open both buy and sell position whenever there is a major economic event like interest rate announcement, consumer index etc. I cover the losing position and ride the winning position. After reading many books, attending seminar this is the only thing working for me. By the way most of the TA indicator like MACD, RSI, various moving averages etc. are all lagging indicator. Since history does not predict future why depend on them.
Once again, where is the PROOF that these setups are even remotely profitable?.......2007-07-14
Another forex book with just a bunch of chart patterns that supposedly make money. As usual, no (Omega Trade Station) backtests. I even asked the author for the backtest results, his reply was something like this: "Well just try them [the patterns] and see if they work for you" ?!?!?!
Unfortunalely a lot of newcomers and newbies are clapping and praising this book, even though those people have no way of knowing if these patterns can pass a test of only 200 daytrades, let alone 1,000 historical daytrades!
Even more disturbing is the fact that the author shows you a pattern and the buy sell entry/exit, but then a few pages later, he shows you the same exact pattern and tells you that you can also do the reverse ?!?!?
In other words the pattern is supposed to make money no matter how you trade it?!?!
So Mr. Toshchakov, we are still waiting for your backtest results. Show us that these patterns make money (if any).
Incomprehensible and utterly worthless for actual trading.......2007-05-18
I assume most of the glowing reviews of Toshchakov's inscrutable mish-mash are shilling for the publisher. This book makes problematic systems based upon crude algorithms, simple break-outs, and even astrology look positively brilliant by comparison. Without a doubt, this is one of the most useless trading manuals ever devised and represents a total waste of the reader's money. The highly-touted, ostensibly KISS templates that constitute the system's heart are so complex, obscure, and hedged about by contingent factors as to be absolutely impossible to identify, much less utilize. Even the author's "commsense" advice on trading trendlines is facile garbage for anyone who has more than a few week's experience on the FOREX. I feel sorry for those who purchase this volume in the honest hope of learning some viable trading techniques: their intense disappointment -- and monetary loss -- is guaranteed.
Wow - its the first Forex book that i did not regret buying.......2007-05-13
This book is a must have for forex traders. Even if it require alot of practice to be comfortable applying the techniques, you must read.

Book Description
Every so often a character so captures the hearts and imaginations of readers that he seems to take on a life of his own long after the final page is turned. For such a character, one book is not enough—readers must know what happens next. Now Dean Koontz returns with the novel his fans have been demanding. With the emotional power and sheer storytelling artistry that are his trademarks, Koontz takes up once more the story of a unique young hero and an eccentric little town in a tale that is equal parts suspense and terror, adventure and mystery—and altogether irresistibly odd.
We’re all a little odd beneath the surface. He’s the most unlikely hero you’ll ever meet—an ordinary guy with a modest job you might never look at twice. But there’s so much more to any of us than meets the eye—and that goes triple for Odd Thomas. For Odd lives always between two worlds in the small desert town of Pico Mundo, where the heroic and the harrowing are everyday events. Odd never asked to communicate with the dead—it’s something that just happened. But as the unofficial goodwill ambassador between our world and theirs, he’s got a duty to do the right thing. That’s the way Odd sees it and that’s why he’s won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death.
A childhood friend of Odd’s has disappeared. The worst is feared. But as Odd applies his unique talents to the task of finding the missing person, he discovers something worse than a dead body, encounters an enemy of exceptional cunning, and spirals into a vortex of terror. Once again Odd will stand against our worst fears. Around him will gather new allies and old, some living and some not. For in the battle to come, there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope. Whether you’re meeting Odd Thomas for the first time or he’s already an old friend, you’ll be led on an unforgettable journey through
a world of terror, wonder and delight—to a revelation that can change your life. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

Great series by Koontz.......2007-10-12
I loved the "Odd" books by Koontz so much I came to Amazon to buy hardbacks so I could have them for years. I rarely reread books but the writing is so enjoyable I know I will be coming back to the series every year or two!
Enjoyable Read.......2007-10-12
This isn't as good as his 1st Odd Thomas novel, but Odd is just as lovable as he is in the original novel. I think since I loved the 1st book my expectations were to high, thus leaving me disappointed.
My main problem w/ this bk. had to do w/ the villainess, Datura. I found her annoying & stupid when she constantly responded w/ "liar." She sounded like a little spoiled brat. I would have preferred her to be more of an intelligent sex vixen - more like Eve in "Dark Rivers of the Heart." Instead Datura sounded like a stupid bimbo & bored me to tears.
The other problem I have w/ this bk. is that Odd is supposed to be best friends w/ this guy named Danny. To me this character came from nowhere.
That said, I still found the bk. entertaining from beginning to end & I could not put it down.
This book should not be read before the 1st novel "Odd Thomas" since it spoils the endings of the first book.
Great series.......2007-09-11
Love the Odd Thomas books and hope hope hope Dean Koontz comes out with more!
The Second Chapter of Odd.......2007-09-11
First of all, don't read this book unless you have already read Odd Thomas as it contains spoilers for the first book. Just as we don't read the last page first and first page last, or anywhere in between, we also should read books in order for the sake of the story :)
Forever Odd is a good book. With his usual artful style, Koontz flips your emotions as if on a remote control. You feel the fear of the situation, the tension, the thrill, and then flip right back into laughter... and awe. Koontz can tug at your heart strings, but leave you with enough humor that you aren't completely devestated and can smile in spite of it all.
Odd Thomas is a special character. He is one we should all strive to emulate. Compassionate, intelligent, humble, yet confident. And he is surrounded by special people, although they play far less of a role in this book than the previous book.
Not as good as the first, but a close second. Well worth the read and the space on your bookshelf.
Not as good as Odd Thomas.......2007-08-29
This book is average at best. It was a disapointment compared to Odd Thomas. Seemed like he was cashing in on the success of the first one.

Book Description
“The dead don't talk. I don't know why.” But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Odd Thomas thinks of himself as an ordinary guy, if possessed of a certain measure of talent at the Pico Mundo Grill and rapturously in love with the most beautiful girl in the world, Stormy Llewellyn. Maybe he has a gift, maybe it’s a curse, Odd has never been sure, but he tries to do his best by the silent souls who seek him out. Sometimes they want justice, and Odd’s otherworldly tips to Pico Mundo's sympathetic police chief, Wyatt Porter, can solve a crime. Occasionally they can prevent one. But this time it's different.
A mysterious man comes to town with a voracious appetite, a filing cabinet stuffed with information on the world's worst killers, and a pack of hyena-like shades following him wherever he goes. Who the man is and what he wants, not even Odd’s deceased informants can tell him. His most ominous clue is a page ripped from a day-by-day calendar for August 15.
Today is August 14.
In less than twenty-four hours, Pico Mundo will awaken to a day of catastrophe. As evil coils under the searing desert sun, Odd travels through the shifting prisms of his world, struggling to avert a looming cataclysm with the aid of his soul mate and an unlikely community of allies that includes the King of Rock 'n' Roll. His account of two shattering days when past and present, fate and destiny converge is the stuff of our worst nightmares—and a testament by which to live: sanely if not safely, with courage, humor, and a full heart that even in the darkness must persevere.

Customer Reviews:
Give the nod to Odd!.......2007-10-17
There are many in-depth reviews for this work and I'll not go into detail of the plot. This is just a quick nod of support for this book which I enjoy so much.
In plot-driven paranormal novels, rarely does a character come along like Odd Thomas. While it might take a bit to acclimate with his diction, the smiles his thoughts will bring you is well worth the effort. The character is so aptly drawn that he feels real.
This is a story that takes many twists and turns and ends with a climax that will not disappoint. The ending leaves the reader wanting more (so Mr. Koontz has continued the series) but nothing will ever top this original Odd.
Best book I've read in a long time.......2007-10-12
This is a great book - I LOVED this book. It evoked almost every emotion a person can feel & I think that's what makes it such a good story. "Odd Thomas" is suspenseful, scary, sad & funny. It's a bk. that can make you tear up one moment & then laugh out aloud.
The book is full of three-dimensional characters that you care about & a plot that has many twists and turns. Odd Thomas is such a loveable character. Some might feel Odd is a bit cheezy, but I actually like the cheese & it makes Odd all the more lovable. Normally I don't like books w/ "romance," however, I even enjoyed the love story & thought it was beautiful. This might not have been the case if the ending had been diffrent. I love the ending - I love this book.
I'm also pleased that Koontz has written a cat (Terrible Chester) into the story instead of "man's best friend." Not that I have anything against dogs, I just like the variety.
Anyways, this a book worth buying.
Great Koontz Novel!.......2007-10-09
I loved this book! I think Dean Koontz is a great writer and I generally enjoy reading all of his novels. The end had me in tears.
Not for me.......2007-10-05
This was my first Dean Koontz book, and I was pretty disappointed given the rave reviews I have heard about him. I am not saying he is a bad writer by any means, but it turned me off to his books.
In this book I felt like I had to walk a mile to get 50 feet of story. He seemed to keep going on and on with descriptions of things that had no significance to the story. My main issue was his use of dialog, I'm sorry but people just dont talk like that. Let alone a couple of 20 year olds in some podunk town. The dialog between Odd and his girlfriend was very unrealistic and distracting. He is a great writer, but as said in my title, just not for me.
Refreshing.......2007-09-30
Odd Thomas is one of those rare books that artfully marry suspense, humor and writing as cripse as a new morning into one perfect package. Told in a pleasant first-person voice, the story unfolds to reveal a remarkably human character who can see the dead, but not talk to them. There is no pretense here; Odd tries to stop tragedy before it happens yet makes the mistakes that anyone else in his place might do. His tender relationship with his girlfriend, Stormy, and the harrowed and strained moments with his parents are perhaps some of the best moments modern novels can provide.

Fans of underground comics god R. Crumb know that he started his career in greeting cards, but few have seen examples of his earliest work. Forty years of his commercial and otherwise unpublished output is collected in Odds & Ends, a lovely companion piece to his better-known work in Zap Comics, Weirdo, and the rest. Including advertisements and announcements done for friends and family, magazine illustrations, and some surprisingly sensitive portraits, the book is essential for those who want to see how the man's work evolved in private, parallel to his published work. Odds & Ends shows Crumb at his silly, geeky best. --Rob Lightner
Book Description
A never-before-compiled collection from the most influential underground artist of our time.
Robert Crumb is a cartoonist with an instantly recognizable style who emerged in the 1960s with strips in the underground press. He founded Zap Comix in 1968 and created Fritz the Cat, Devil Girl, Mr. Natural, Keep on Truckin' and hundreds of other characters that instantly struck a nerve with people everywhere.
Odds & Ends is a unique book of Robert Crumb's previously unpublished, autobiographical, favorite, and most successful strips. It also contains photographs, portraits, and text by the man himself.
With a jacket designed by the artist, Odds & Ends is beautifully produced and filled with color artwork-a great introduction to one of our most important cartoonists, as well as an invaluable addition to any fan's library.
Customer Reviews:
What a neat book!.......2002-11-14
Don't let the fact that it's a remaindered book keep you away! This is a wonderful hardcover collection (no jacket) of Crumb extras: doodles, sketches, advertisements, and comics. The majority are in black and white, but there is some color. Great drawings of Robert Johnson, the Cheap Suit Serenaders, and Tina Lockwood (wooo!), as well as sketches of various women. A few of his trademark characters are also here, including Devil Girl and the Vulture Women. Some photos are included, as well. It's an absolute bargain!
Another great collection of Crumb's work.......2001-07-20
A must for R. Crumb aficionados, this beautifully designed hardcover collects many of the illustrations done for projects as varied as novels, greeting cards, scripts, and birth announcements, as well as unpublished work. Great stuff! R. Crumb is the master of pen and ink.

Good for Beginners, Not for strategy.......2001-01-02
This is a great book for beginners or casual players. It gives great descriptions of the bets available to players and also gives good statistics on the bets. Not so great though for strategy. Wouldn't use the strategies they suggest, but I would use the explanations of the bets and the risk associated with them.
A great book at a great price........2000-06-06
This is the best book I ever ever read on this subject. The concepts are laid out in an easy to understand format. It is an excellent book for the novice as well as the experienced player. I especially like the way the Mr. Roto supports his ideas with statistical evidence.
Average at best.......2000-01-07
I wasn't very impressed with this book in general. While I must admit much of the information is their, by and large I found it lacking when compared to other books of this genre.
Search around some more, their is better quality out there.

Cult apologist rehashes old material.......2003-04-27
Sociologist Benjamin Beit-Hallahmi described Lewis' work as "a travesty of research." Indeed, it is not hard to see why James R. Lewis is known as a cult apologist (defender). A simple internet search provides a wealth of documentation.
An additional buyer-beware: this book does not contain new material. All chapters are drawn from Lewis' previous works, and the material does not appear to have been updated.
A Decent basic guide to Unusual Newer Religions,.......2001-10-31
Especially those in the U.S.A. Although most chapters are by no means all inclusive, they offer a good source of basic information relating to the founding and general beliefs of each group. The information is presented in an unbiased way (this is the first comprehensive guide to small religious groups and "cults" not done by a christian group), and includes information on the legal boundaries of religion in the US of A, as well as some past cases involving the exercise of religious freedoms. Most of the book goes over the means and methods of various sundry religious movements, such as the Children of God, American Sikhs, Hebrew Israelites, and so on.
This book will make a good addition to any school or library collection, especially since it is not Selling any particular brand of faith, but simply presenting information and allowing the reader to draw conclusions. Anyone with an interest in religion, mind control, sociology or psychology should appreciate the interesting information herein!
