The same Book as Spanish Now!.......2006-06-27

This book is essentially the same book sold as "Spanish Now! Book 1". It has the same stories and exercises. I bought both books thinking I would have two study resources. I was dismayed to find nearly identical content! Save your money and buy Spanish Now! Book instead.

Probably best if you have some background..........2006-05-15

I took four years of Spanish in high school and three semesters of Italian in college. I decided to pick up this book because my Italian had wiped out parts of my Spanish. I have only done the first couple chapters of the book, but I love it already. It really works with both the vocabulary and the mechanics. I do, however, have two complaints: 1. This book certainly needs a CD, because reading and writing a language are very different that listening and speaking it. 2. This book is not the best for self-starters with no background in Romance languages. I was working in chapter two and noticed that the authors are placing object pronouns in grammar exercises without any previous explanation. Granted the object pronouns are not the point of the exercise, but to a new student with no background, it would certainly be confusing.

Bottom lines: If you have a previous background in Spanish, French, Italian, or Latin, this book will probably be great for you. If you are currently enrolled in a Spanish class, this book will probably work for you. If you want to pick up some Spanish and you are not taking a class and do not have a background already, do not use this book.

Spanish the Easy Way .......2006-03-17

This is a good workbook and study guide for the serious student of the Spanish language. It takes you step by step through the essentials of grammar and has an excellent, although not, by any means, complete glossary. !Muy bien!

The BEST Workbook for Beginners.......2006-02-12

Bar none, this is the best one. You need to have the pronunciation down of the letters, etc. That does not take too long if you practice. After that, get this book. There is no better place to start.

Overall this book is very good, but there are quite a number of errors, both of explanation, inconsistency and simple proofing.
My wife is Spanish, so I was able to verify with her.

Learning a language is difficult enough without a text book introducing errors!

I haven't been to school in 10 years. For me to take a language class as my first class back to school was insane, but this workbook really helped me to put the key terms together and form my sentences. Must have for anyone taking Spanish.

Easy and fun, indeed.......2006-02-10

I have been learning Spanish through conversation classes this past year and got almost to the fluent level. Even though I had practiced all tenses through conversation, I knew it was time now to reinforce the foundation. It was a nice surprise to find this grammar book. It can be read very easily with lots of examples to practice every single thing learnt. The examples are fun and creative. They sometimes include new words that pick your curiosity to go look for their meaning in the dictionnary. I usually burst into laugh when I found out the overall meaning of the example, or just enjoyed the beauty of the sentence. I would say they are so "latino" sometimes in their context, so it makes sense with Spanish grammar! This approach lightens up the "drill" boredom.
I was surprised to take the grammar book and a pencil everywhere with me, when and where I expected to wait some time. It is a big deal, since I love books and have a lot of them, but am not really consistent in reading them!
This book gives an absolute lift to the level of Spanish. I would recommend anyone to do the drills consistantly, not skipping any. It ends up getting into the confort zone, finding its space in the brain, and popping out when needed. But I still need to speak some spanish during this grammar reading time in order to practice and remember them!
I also liked the format of large paperback that comes with slightly larger font and also some drawings once in a while, that lighten up the space for the readers.

First class resource to help get your head around grammar........2004-01-03

Barron's has done it again. This first class resource for learning Spanish grammar is a straightforward, no-nonsense, non-gimmicky examination look at the very guts of a language.

This book drills, to be sure, but rest assured; you'll know the basics of grammar quite thoroughly. This book can be used with the Spanish the Easy Way book and/or Spanish Now 2, or as a stand alone text.

Thank God for Allen Carr and the Easy Way.......2007-06-12

This is the most incredible book which has completely changed my life. I quit smoking almost effortlessly with the assistance of this plan. If you read this book and absorb what it says, you will easily throw away the cigarettes. I will never smoke again and if I ever get the urge, I will pull the book back out. I only wish I had discovered this years earlier.

Free at last!!.......2007-04-16

I smoked for 12 years, for awhile smoking 2+ packs a day, then for the last year and a half smoked cigars. And I don't mean just puffing on them, but INHALING 6 to 7 every day. The minute I put this book down (January 3, 2007), the world was different for me. The sky was brighter, the air was sweeter and every day seemed to be just brimming over with potential. I knew it was because I was free. It is now 3 1/2 months later, and I am still riding that wave of euphoria. Now if I am around cigarette smoke too long instead of craving one (as with other methods) I get a bad headache.

So don't rush through the book! And don't skip to the back and read (obviously one of the reviewers here did and that is why the book didn't work for them). Debate every aspect of it with yourself, your spouse, your family and/or your friends. Let it be the valuable key to your tobacco prison--you have nothing to lose except your addiction to the "demon weed".

It Definitely Can Work.......2007-04-16

Yes, Carr's book CAN work for you. Maybe not by itself; but then who ever told you that there was a magic cure out there? Oh, you thought that you did not have to put in any effort? Oh, that you did not have to make a commitment?

Carr's process actually worked for me. I mean from day one. But I also had decided to work at it. I joined an online state-authorized quit site. I went to the chats. I read the sites. I kept the online journal. I read the book and kept smoking while I did. I also started checking out health sites; started walking; breathing; doing yoga. Just a little exercise.

By the time I finished the book, I was more than ready and actually quit a day ahead of schedule. My quit buddy on the web site was reading the book at the same time and found the exact same thing! The two of us had no trouble quitting; we had no pain; we were able to handle the cravings without problems; and now a month later we are not even thinking about smoking.

What we did find was the we could not talk to people who EXPECTED the cravings; who fed on the idea of TEMPTATION. We had no such experience and others found it really hard to believe this could be true.

I am a black female college professor; amazed at how simple this was for me. I still go out and have fun. I go dancing. I attend concerts. I have not changed myself. In fact, the problem has been finding this too simple. I must remind myself of my main purpose and goal.

Easy Way for Women to Stop Smoking.......2007-03-10

This is a wonderful book. I was not able to stop smoking using only this book, however. One of the problems I encountered was that when I quit, I felt out of step and insecure. So my "quit" only lasted a half day. Allen Carr does not go into detail on handling the insecure feeling. However, I read the book again, bought a CD by Bob Griswold on quitting which you can listen to while you drive and got a prescription for Chantix from my MD. The CD was very important because Griswold actually tells you what to do when you get the insecure feeling which comes when you are quitting an addiction to nicotine. The Chantix makes it easier to get through cravings. And Griswold is right - the cravings don't last more than 15 minutes and after a while, you don't have them at all.

If it doesn't work..........2007-02-02

For the minority of people for which this book doesn't work: Please buy a copy of Allen Carr's The Only Way to Stop Smoking Permanently. I know of some people who have read "The Easy Way" a few times and it didn't work, then read "The Only Way" and it worked. Plus my brother had to read "The Only way" three or four times before it 'clicked'. (although around 80% of people only have to read one of the books just once) Please don't give up! Allen Carr's books are generally very very effective with the vast majority of people!

This is a kids book- it only has about 16 recipes in it, but we tried 8 of them and they were all hits with the boys. Nice background information about Spain.

I especially liked the interactive CD. It was very helpful to hear, speak and see the words at the same time. I also thought the narration was very clear and easy to understand. I would recommend these package for anyone trying to learn the language on their own.

Learn the basic words necessary to communicate when traveling Tapes provide correct pronunciation and are easy to listen too when driving. Each Lesson can be mastered in one day if one is diligent, however, it may take others 10-12 days!! Give it a try, you have nothing to loose

Not a bad book but not a quick course.......2000-05-19

The idea that anyone can satisfactorily learn a language in seven days is ludicrous but, I took the bait and bought the book. Given the fact that it is popularly priced, I didn't waste any money. The seven days are actually seven lessons. Each lesson might be mastered in a week, not a day. The premise of the book is that a family takes a trip to Spain and each lesson represents a day in their week's journey. Each day presents different situations. The characters in the book are in Spain for seven days but the lessons cannot be mastered that quickly. If you accept the fact that you should use the book over several weeks, it's not a bad book but I am relying on other sources to learn Spanish .. most notably, Berlitz's fine cassette course "Basic Spanish"
