Customer Reviews:
Nice book for beginners.......2007-08-23
I have been attempting to learn French on my own for the past year and have CD's for my car (wonderful) and have been buying dual language book after book, but finally realized they are way too advanced for me. This book is great because it's at the perfect not-a-complete-beginner but still-has-a-long-way-to-go level. There are exercises after each reading, a glossary & each reading has new words noted in the margin. Highly recommended.
Good choice.......2007-07-06
I took French for three years in high school and now - six or seven years later - I want to brush up on what I still remember. This was an excellent choice for me and allowed me to jump right in and start reading French again.
However, I think it would be difficult for someone who didn't have even a faint grasp of the language and so I wouldn't recommend this for the absolute beginners - just people like myself who are re-starting the language. If you want to do more than just read French, compliment this with another book that comes with a tape. I would also get a French-English dictionary. There's one in the back, but it is not as inclusive as it could be.
Great supplemental to learning French.......2007-07-02
This book is an easy way to add variety to your studies. I find the chapters are thoughtfully put together to help the beginner to keep focused on the language and new vocabulary, but have a bit of fun at the same time. I would recommend this book to keep the studies more enjoyable.
Easy French Reader.......2007-05-13
This book is just what I need! It has helped me with comprehension of French, and the style makes me want to keep reading it! A book like this was long overdue.
GOOD FOR THE LEARNER.......2007-05-06
THIS BOOK IS A GREAT HELP TO ANYONE TRYING TO LEARN FRENCH, THE STORIES ARE SIMPLE AND YET A LITTLE COMPELLING ALSO. THE CONTENT IS REASONABLY DIVERSE GIVEN THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE READER AND THE EXPLANATIONS OF THE NUANCES AND FALSE FRIENDS ARE EXCELLENT.

Dog be gone!
The big old dog wants to play. Can the little boy make him go away?
Customer Reviews:
Playful Pup Persuasively Pounces.......2003-02-27
A boy who is afraid of dogs meets a friendly long-haired barking fellow looking to play. He tells him to go away, but the dog insists on being friends. The dog instantly loves the boy, but the boy isn't so sure.
Your child will learn how dogs are fun to play with, and how some things aren't quite as scary as they might first appear.
The colorful, warm drawings have endured through the years, and will help bring a smile to your face.
I fully recommend "Go Away, Dog."

My "most favorite book".......2002-05-28
I have the original version (1963) and mine has the following inscription written by my mother:
"This was a library book I checked out for Lisa when she was 4 and 1/2 years old. She loved it so much she kept putting off taking it back and one day 'could never find it again'. Later, she told me she hid it and by then I had paid the library for it. Her most favorite book then and for a long time."
I cherish my copy of Go Away Dog and am buying the new version for good friend's baby shower.
A Book for Young Dog Lovers Everywhere.......2000-05-08
This book is written in short, simple sentences, using high-frequency vocabulary that's sure to make young readers successful. It tells about a dog who wants to play and the little boy who wants that dog to go away. This little dog will win the affection of very young dog lovers and little boys everywhere with his antics and determination!

bathtime for biscuit.......2007-06-10
My daughter loved this book it is very easy reading and quite enjoyable she is very proud of herself when she can read a book. Thank you for making her day
Simple Text Appeals to Young Readers.......2007-02-19
We recently introduced Biscuit to our daughter (nearly age 2 yrs). She asks to read about Biscuit's bath several times a day and comments as we read together. The word repetition creates an easy rhythm we both enjoy. The text and drawings work well together.
We like it for all the wrong reasons........2005-10-14
My 6-year-old brought this book home from school, and it's a fine learning-to-read book for her. What struck her, though, was the (unintentionally?) hilarious nature of a few of the illustrations. They have to be seen to be appreciated. Call us juvenile, but we laughed until we cried. I'm buying one for home, and more for gifts! Thanks, Biscuit!
Great Children's book.......2005-09-21
My daughter loves the Biscuit series books! I think she's attracted to the cute golden dog named Biscuit. It also helps when her dad or me read the books with animation.
Great beginner reader book!.......2004-05-06
My daughter, who is 5, loves all the Biscuit books! They're great for beginner readers! We haven't found any she likes better, so we just keep on buying all the Biscuit books we can find. She is definitely a Biscuit fan!

Customer Reviews:
Silly and Funny.......2007-04-11
This is a great 1st chapter book for young children. In each chapter, the main characters, Detective Dinosaur and Officer Pterodactyl, solve a mystery. The mysteries are often silly, but they are always fun. For example, in one chapter, Detective Dinosaur is following a noise in the fog and becomes lost himself. He begins singing to calm his nerves, and sings so loudly that Officer Pterodactyl easily finds him! In another chapter, they find a lost kitten and put signs up. But, no one claims the kitten. In the end they decide that the kitten is both lost and found, since it was lost, but they found it. After that, Cadet Kitten goes along on their expeditions. My son, 5, read this book to me (one chapter per night) and LOVED it. He laughed out loud at least once per chapter. I highly recommend this book for K-2 readers.
Detective Dinosaur Lost and Found.......1999-12-21
There were 3 short stories about 2 police dinosaurs in this book. It is humorous, with good color illustrations. I would recommend it for the K through 3rd grade level, as well as the teachers.

Customer Reviews:
great even for those who can't read.......2003-05-02
My 19 month old loves this book (and has for the last three months with unwavering interest.) The words and pictures are so engaging. I sometimes read it to him three times in a row. He loves to identify all the people, things, and animals throughout the story. The illustrations are superb. We wish that there were more stories out there about Raymond. He's so likable!
I KNOW THE ILLUSTRATOR.......2002-10-09
This is a great, short and entertaining book for young children. My four year old son gets a kick out of how fast Raymond does everything(eats breakfast, brushes his teeth). Overall a very good intro for those kids just starting to read.
