Book Description
A simple walk through Washington, D.C. began a profound journey of personal discovery and renewal for Newt Gingrich, one of America's most influential politicians and commentators. At the National Archives, the immortal words from the Declaration of Independence that we "are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights," jumped off the page and into his heart with the simple truth that from day one in our country's history, the Author of freedom was not the state nor even the Founding Fathers. Our basic human rights and freedoms were-and are-"Creator-endowed." Gingrich sounds a clarion call for us to recognize that the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that we hold so dear are inseparable from a sincere and humble acknowledgement that these gifts are only the Creator's to give. As a bonus, the book includes a "walking tour" of Washington, D.C.

America, the Christian Nation Under God .......2007-09-26
This book was another top notch, highly informative conservative-traditionalist volume that speaks the truth that America is indeed a Christian Judeo nation at heart.
It is so vitally important for American culture to return to our moral religious values, and seek the historical truth that indeed the Founders were very spiritual people who upheld very Christian ideals in springing to life the American nation.
While Thomas Jefferson was a Deist (not an Atheist but one who believed that God had sprung the universe into life with little involvement in the affairs of man), many of the founders themselves were personally brought up in the Christian tradition. I can recall the miracle on Christmas when George Washington crossed the Delaware River to storm the Hessian base camp, or his Thanksgiving Day prayer.
One can come to the logical conclusion that the inspiration of the American idea was spawned from the both the secular notions of the Enlightenment era, and the philosophies of Christianity.
Regardless of those extremists out there who try to twist history into something that it wasn't for PC reasons or their own personal contempt for American Christian ideals, there is no United States of America with out the traditions and philosophies of Jesus Christ.
God, the Ten Commandments, & the teachings of the lord Jesus Christ will always be apart of America.
This is one fantastic book worth your time and money.
And if a loser named Peter decides to spam my review with is radical trash, please ignore him because he is an internet stalking pervert. (& no one cares about what he thinks anyway.)
Rediscovering God in America.......2007-09-10
The book is an excellent reminder of the source of strength and wisdom that all our founders looked to as they made decisions concerning the founding of America. There is a clear discussion of the separations issue and the foolish conclusion that our leaders did not want God a part of public life. It reminds us of the importance that all leaders in the first 100 years of the country place on Christian faith.

Millionaire in 365 Days: The Daily Plan to Get There
America is the MOST faith based country in the world....But ???
Newt is such an interesting guy...it is worth reading to get a sense of the history of how our country's founders and there on saw faith as part of America.....buy it, if you have faith in America as well...
Outstanding.......2007-07-21
I read with interest how our founding fathers consistently built buildings with the reminders that there is a Supreme being, God, who has blessed us with this country, our constitution, and our democracy. There are so many nihilists around us that would destroy all of this. Evil does lurk in this world. A well writtent book, succinct but accurate with historical facts.
Great CD!.......2007-07-16
This CD is very helpful for anyone visiting our nation's capitol. I wish we'd had it before our visit.

Book Description
Museums and monuments define the Washington, DC landscape, but the stories behind this majestic capital merely begin here. Looking beyond the monuments, from Abigail Adams to the National Zoo, to all the cherry blossoms, flags, houses, and presidents in between, N is for Our Nation's Capital is like a guided tour along the most interesting routes in our capital. Did you know the cherry trees that are an integral part of DC's scenery were gifts from Japan? Or that Mrs. Taft planted the first two? N is for Our Nation's Capital will be published in March to coincide with the opening of the cherry blossoms.

Book Description
Today, there are more than twenty complete zodiacs in Washington, D.C., each one pointing to an extraordinary mystery. David Ovason, who has studied these astrological devices for ten years, now reveals why they have been placed in such abundance in the center of our nation's capital and explains their interconnections. His richly illustrated text tells the story of how Washington, from its foundation in 1791, was linked with the zodiac, with the meaning of certain stars, and with a hidden cosmological symbolism that he uncovers here for the first time.
Fascinating and thoroughly researched, The Secret Architecture of Our Nation 's Capital is an engrossing book that raises provocative questions and otters complex insights into the meanings behind the mysterious symbols in Washington.
Customer Reviews:
Virgoville.......2007-10-03
Overall its an informative book well worth reading so I give it 5 stars. He rehashes the virgo thing to death throughout the book where I felt he could have laid that out better in 1 or 2 chapters. Also as mentioned by others below he left alot of Masonic stuff out.I recommend watching on video AMERICAS SECRET DESTINY and RIDDLES IN STONE they add and parallel this book quite well.
Brilliant analysis, but wandering.......2007-06-16
Ever wonder why the city of Washington D.C. was an explicitly designed city, but the streets are laid out in a seemingly illogical manner? Wouldn't you design a simple grid pattern for a city instead of the bizarre pattern found there?
David Ovason attempt to give meaning to this street pattern and for some of the architecture found in the city. His analysis is brilliant but I find myself wandering in the sometimes meandering pattern of his investigation, just like the layout of the city. It would probably help for the reader to have a background in astrology/astronomy to give greater meaning to this analysis, for I often found myself scratching my head.
It was interesting to learn that Pierre L'Enfant, the French Freemason given credit for the design of the city, was later sacked from the construction team for criticism of some of the builders for messing up his design. He would later go broke, wander around the city, and pester congress for a greater share of payments that he thought were his for the design of the city. He died broke and is buried near Arlington House.
The rest of the story??.......2007-05-26
Proof in stone that America's founding fathers were not ultra-conservative god fearing Christians, not even deists and the guideposts to their secrets were left for all to see in the nation's capital.
Incorporating astronomy and astrology, Ovason demonstrates the Hermetic adage As above, so is below. Like theories regarding the Great Pyramid and its relationship to Orion, he shows how the stars above are mirrored below in the design of the District.
Well researched but could have gone deeper to explain what the symbols actually represent to Masonry and the esoteric history of their beliefs. Without the deeper analysis, one wonders why did they go to so much trouble to use symbols etched in stone?
For a deeper explanation of the secret symbols of Masonry and how the modern day Church of Scientology adapted the rituals and grades and philosophy of a particular branch of Masonry, I recommend Solomon's Key: The CODIS Project A Conspiracy Thriller by R. Douglas Weber. While fiction, it gives a clear no-holes-barred account of the innermost, deepest ritual and secret that Masonry's esoteric symbols truly represent.
Even the keys to the allegorical hidden language of Alchemy. It delivers the final punch as promised.
SOLOMON'S KEY THE CODIS PROJECT: A CONSPIRACY THRILLER
Masonic America: Bacon's New Atlantis.......2007-04-01
Comprehensive book revealing America's esoteric/masonic foundation. The Masons initiated the Revolution, crafted the Constitution and designed D.C. Wish he would have covered America's true founding father, Sir Francis Bacon. Plato's Republic inspired Bacon's Atlantis, which, along with Virgil's Aeneid, became America's blueprint. Couple this work with Secret Destiny of America and Brotherhood of the Sun for more hidden history of America.
THE BOOK OF VIRGO.......2006-06-11
I call this the book of Virgo, it seemed like everything revolved and centered on Virgo, when the Nation's Capital was designed according to Ovason. However I give it a 5 star because it's one of the few books about Wash. D.C. that gives Benjamin Banneker-Bey (Ben Bey) credit in helping lay out Wash. D.C. (albeit just a small part of the book) and also mentions Ben Bey's prowess in making almanacs. Profusely illustrated, overall a pretty delightful book.

The Good Night... series are good books for young kids to read or to have read to them. It includes basic words and gets the kids interested in different travel locations.

A poor sequel to the "Good Night America" original, and a great disappointment. Bad illustrations, uninspired presentation and choice of subject matter. Don't bother with this one.

Book Description
Public education is failing Americaâs children--especially those in poor urban areas. D.C. Council member Kevin Chavous has long been an outspoken advocate for educational reform that serves the needs of all of our children. In Serving Our Children, Mr. Chavous, who has been at the forefront of the charter school movement, explores what his city has learned from the charter school experience and what it means to American public education as a whole. In just five short years, under Mr. Chavousâs leadership, charter schools in Washington went from zero to nearly forty and currently enroll about 11,000 students in six schools. These schools provide more than traditional public schools can--wrap around services to poor children who are hungry, inadequately clothed, lacking sleep, and sometimes exposed to physical and emotional violence. Mr. Chavous uses D.C.âs charter schools to demonstrate how their greater flexibility and autonomy allows them to better serve the social, economic, language, and educational needs of students and their families--services these children need to succeed in school. He admits that charter schools are not without their critics and explains why, but he argues that these schools are an important model for the educational reform that must take place if our children are to carry America into a brighter future.
Customer Reviews:
Parting Words for Councilman Chavous.......2006-02-20
Two things anyone should take in to account before cracking this book.
1. Charter schools were not the product of a mass demand by the residents of DC. It was essentially forced on the DC by the Republican dominated Congress. DC public schools have major problems, but that is hardly an excuse to force conservative social experiments on an unwilling population.
2. Councilman Chavous was voted out of office soon after thsi book was published. It seems his constituents were not too hot on his advocacy of charter schools.
Interesting Arguement for Educational Reform.......2004-07-14
Kevin Chavous, a council member in Washington, D.C., thinks that charter schools are the answer to America's failing education system. With his eloquent writing style and genuine passion for the topic, "Serving Our Children" offers a unique analysis of one of America's biggest problems. I wonder what the Presidential canidates would think of this book.

Book Description
Watching Our Crops Come In, the third in Clifton Taulbert's acclaimed memoir series, begins in 1967 when, as a young airman, Taulbert leaves segregated Missisippi for a special assignment to Washington, D.C.. Grateful for having avoided combat in Vietnam, Taulbert comes face to face with another war-the struggle for civil rights-raging at home.
*When We Were Colored was the basis for the critically acclaimed film Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored.
* The Last Train North was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, and was a co-winner of the Mississippi Arts and Letters Award. Filled with the stirring recollections and loving wisdom that marked his earlier work, Watching Our Crops Come In vividly evokes the mood and personalities of the emerging civil rights era-from the Freedom Riders and Martin Luther King, Jr to Taulbert's own work as a campaign volunteer for Robert F. Kennedy. In his hometown, young idealists and old dreamers register the colored vote. And it is those very dreams-learned on the front porches of his childhood-that carry Clifton Taulbert through turbulent times in the fervent belief that tomorrow is the brightest day.

Her Way: The Hopes and Ambitions of Hillary Rodham Clinton
ASIN: 0688157491 |
Amazon.com
It seems that being a Friend of Bill is all too often just the first step on that slippery slope to disgrace and the hoosegow. Take, for example, Jim McDougal, Susan McDougal, and Webster Hubbell--all former First Friends now facing stiff prison sentences. Susan McDougal has refused to talk about her case at all, while her ex-husband Jim is saving his material for a grand jury; Webb Hubbell, however, has decided to bare both his soul and his legal difficulties in Friends in High Places, an account of his rise in Little Rock and fall in Washington, DC. In a nutshell, Hubbell--a former law partner of Hillary Clinton's--confessed to stealing almost half a million dollars from the law firm and its clients. His book purports to reveal the full inside story. Readers looking for dirt on the Clintons will be disappointed--Hubbell takes full responsibility for his crimes, absolving the White House of any knowledge about his shady financial dealings.
Customer Reviews:
Oh,The Webb We Weave.......2005-09-25
What's most important here is what's not included in this work.
Questions regarding Lippo Group,Revlon,Vernon Jordan,his wife's
rocky tenure at Bill Clinton's Interior Department while Hubbell
was in prison, and many others, remain unanswered.
If she decides in a year or two to seek "higher office",one can only
wonder if the junior Senator from New York will regret having demanded
so much loyalty from Hubbell that he felt compelled to "roll over one more time" for her,as he stated while in prison.
This book will certainly come under intense scrutiny if that day arrives.
Friends in High Places.......2005-08-28
Those seeking insight into the Clintons are best advised to stay away from this book. It is, however, an interesting account of the personal story of Webster Hubbell. He was a lawyer at one of the most prominent law firms in Little Rock, the city's mayor as well as (briefly) the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Arkansas. His journey from these lofty positions to federal prison is tragic, and like most good tragedies, fascinating.
Unfortunately, Hubbell - as the title suggests - seems stuck on his friendship with the Clintons. The word "friend" is so overused in connection with the Clintons (particularly Hillary), that it forces the reader to question whether the friendship ever existed.
Hubbell is frank about his personal weaknesses and the errors of his ways. His life story, which is well told, contains useful lessons for others.
One wishes that Hubbell - who is also candid about his insecurities - will title his next book "The Life of Webster Hubbell" and tell us more about the next chapter of his life (after prison) and less about his (perhaps now former) friends.
Truth that is Better than Fiction.......2000-01-15
This is an excellent look into the world that revolved around Webb Hubbell in Little Rock and Washington DC. Mr. Hubbell is an adept storyteller who cuts through all of the partisan politics and simply tells the truth about his relationship with The President and First Lady. Mr. Hubbell also does something few men are willing to do nowadays. He accepts responsibilty for his mistakes without casting blame and doesn't try to glorify his standing with the Clintons or blame Kenn Starr for his failures. A good read that provides one of the only truly first hand accounts of the Clinton's days in Little Rock.
Ask Me No Questions And I Will Tell You No Lies!.......1999-09-09
Webb Hubbell's begins his long climb back to manhood. The book outlines the short glory and long tragedy of a fellow colleague Webb Hubbell. Some call him a cover up artist, others brand him a liar, but whatever description one might try to apply to Mr. Hubbell one can never say he is snitch. Webb was given two choices, either inform on your President or we are going to burn you. What the hell does that mean, "Inform On Your Friends To Save Your Hide?" There was a time Webb Hubbell could see the difference between right and wrong. Like all who aspire to learn and practice the Law one cannot wait to be put in positions to help many. Webb got to the mountain of power and after his fall he could have gave up. Webb didn't sale out, he refused to buy his future by selling out his friends. Some would describe this as twisted integrity, others misplaced loyalty and a few such as I as uncommon character accompanied by the courage to accept his fate, punishment and seek out atonement. I won't judge what Webb did as right or wrong. I will leave that to others with far more thoughts of their ability to do so regardless of rank or position. He no longer deserves to be hounded by reporters, destroyed by opponents, laughed at by peers or condemned by the public. If there is one thing this life teaches us it is we all fall sometime, we all get muddy and many have a cold and friendless tide find us leaving us with an amputated spirit. Well, Webb Hubbell did his time, protected his family and has repented and now needs acceptance so he can atone. If another colleague Ken Starr saw no reason to call for his incarceration upon a third conviction plea, then I see no reason to condemn Webb any longer. He now needs to be embraced, protected and given new opportunities to accomplish new endeavors. I am satisfied with less so long as Webb continues on his path towards righteousness and now there is no reason why he will not and deserves another chance.
One cannot blame others when they plead guilty!.......1999-09-08
Webb Hubbell is a tragedy in life and Public Service. He cheated, lied and stole and then blamed others like Ken Starr, the media and his family. The book is an excuse of misjudgments not an admission of guilt, repentance or atonement. The same justification of deeds he should be ashamed of but instead makes claims of shame as a badge of honor. What is more tragic is that when it is all over. And the Clinton'' have left the scene and pities of power he will be forgotten as much as he forgot about them under cross examination. He will be like his wife, avoiding laundry by sending it out, because she was to lazy to change. In the end, he is will rue the day he undermined the Rule of Law, ran from the truth and remained silent in the face of justice calling out for vindication. No one believed him then, and after this book no one believes in him now. Webb needs to know that penitence and forgiveness does not mean avoidance of punishment. He has done neither, and thus, cannot really go on in this life proud of anything he has accomplished. He will and is a failure just like this book was trying to tell us he is innocent. When one tells half lies they often forget where they placed the truth ever again! This will be Webb Hubbell's legacy. The book will be forgotten sooner than when you close it. if you open it at all? I suggest you won't!
