The Good Enoughs Get In Sync.......2007-08-03
It was very interesting as the children in the story shared what activites help them get in sync. What was relaxing and what elements of the activities were useful to relaxation, organization etc. Although I did not notice the age group recomendation I will keep the book as it is useful to the parents and grandma and will become my grandson's book when it is more level appropriate. I say that because he is very advanced when it comes to stories and reading.
What a Help!.......2006-06-29
While my child is too young to read this book on his own, I know it will be helpful for him in the future. As a parent of a child with sensory issues, I found that it helped enhance my understanding of his issues immensely (e.g, what HE is experiencing on a daily basis and how it might make him feel). The more insight and understanding a parent has on these issues, the better you can help your child. I highly recommend purchasing it.
A fun book for kids with SID and extended family members..........2006-06-21
We really enjoy this book. It helps our daughter understand what is going on with her senses, and why we need to do heavy work acivities and other parts of her sensory diet. It is also the book we have shown her grandparents because it touches on a lot of definitions related to sensory integration, and gives examples of characters with the traits. I highly recommend you buy this for your child with SID and people who spend a lot of time with your child.
The Goodenoughs Get in Sync Review by Lisa Angel.......2005-03-03
The Goodenoughs Get in Sync by Carol Stock Kranowitz was a great book to read because it so helpful in the classroom. Many times we think that a child is just being mean or annoying when in reality it is a sensory disorder and the child can not help it. I felt the definitions provided to certain words such as sensory under-responsivity, auditory defensiveness and visual defensiveness, to name a few, were extremely enlightning. My son has a friend who has a sensory disorder. I didn't know about the disorder until he came over to spend the night. When it came time to go up the stairs to my son's bedroom he began to freak out. Of course, I called his mom and she explained everything to me and I began to understand. This is a wonderful book to recommend to her. I also enjoyed reading about each family member and how the sensory disorders varied so much. However, each had their own issues to deal with, they really stuck together as a family and supported one another. Even the dog had sensory issues. I would really recommend this book to teachers so that they have better sense of some of the behaviors that go on in the classroom.
The Goodenoughts Get In Sync.......2005-01-17
It is NOT AMAZING to me that Carol Kranowitz has done it again! I know how LIFE CHANGING her book: The Out-of-Sync Child was for me and for my son! That book made LIGHT BULBS go off in my head and I was able to read it inserting my son's name on every page after I had read page number two! Her resources brought HOPE and took away so much self-doubt, guilt, fear, sadness, frustration, etc...! All of her books are something I could put my hands around, my head into and helped open my heart! Her books CHANGED my life and changed "WHO" my son is FOREVER! Doctors, parent, teacher, grandparents,etc...need to read this book as well and share it with the children they are trying to understand/help! Perhaps they will see themselves on these pages?
BRAVO CAROL!

The Yada yada Prayer Group Gets Tough.......2007-10-02
Book 4 in a series of 7 books is a great demonstration of how God uses our talents to help us in our desire to help others. Great for small groups, home groups, women's groups or personal study. It's a pleasure to read.
Fight fire with fire.......2007-03-16
The Yada Yada Prayer group faces its toughest challenges yet. From white supremacy groups to interracial churches, lottery money to unplanned pregnancies, the group still manages to find time to get together and pray over all the hot issues in their lives. Heavy and serious topics are discussed making the reader feel like they are watching their evening news. Just be prepared to laugh, cry, get angry..just get ready to feel any emotion you have while reading this book.
I felt this book had the strongest message and dealt with the most serious issues discussed in the series so far. I really hate seeing the words of the Bible twisted and used to discriminate against others. How people can actually believe the lies told by these groups is beyond me. This was the first book in the series where I felt that everyone reacted realistically. With the group being so diverse, the race issue was bound to be brought up. It's also amazing how just by being Christians they were able to handle these issues in dignified manners. There is no one saying, "If you trust in God, then you shouldn't worry." While I believe that God will give you peace in stressful situations, it is not realistic to not worry in a time of crisis. Once again Jodi's reactions echo my own, although at one point she felt that she was being selfish for worrying about the safety of her own family instead of worrying about Noni and Mark. I felt that this is not a wrong feeling because your own family should always come first. I also liked seeing the churches come together, and the tension from each side being unwilling to unite is very apparent in society. You don't think about racism happening inside church because everyone is supposed to love each other no matter what. Once again this book really makes you think and pushes your beliefs and faith. With each Yada Yada book I feel more connected to the women and get drawn further and further into the story.
book review.......2007-02-03
I have read all the books in the series so far and really like how quick of a read they are. I especially like the fact that this book specifically points out more scripture verses from the bible so you can find them yourself to read if you'd like to get more from the bible. It feels like at times when you are reading you are getting a mini bible study lesson and makes you want to go pull your bible out to have alongside while you're reading. I also like the way the author is starting to tie in the men/husbands a little more because it just shows how powerful God can be when you do something and the ripple effect it has on others that you weren't even planning on. These are always good books to read to get 'in check' with yourself and where your'e at with your own walk with the Lord.
SO ENTERTAINING BUT 'GETS YA ' THINKING IN MANY WAYS.......2007-01-22

Book Description
The father of modern hand-to-hand combat, Capt. W. E. Fairbairn, taught the famed British Commandos from this classic, long-out-of-print manual on unarmed combat. Known for his "get tough" attitude, Fairbairn designed these practical methods after years of training troops and watching ruffians, thugs, bandits and bullies. Now you can profit from his experience.

Get tough.......2007-09-26
Good book. Old school WWI techniques, but very nice and new techniques to me, even as a martial artist of many years. Recommend it! A coulple of the techniques are a little tricky to visualize what they are doing in the pictures but the majority are clearly stated.
Get Touch the easy way!.......2007-08-09
Having owned this book for little over a week now, and only having read it some-what quickly, and just the once so far... it is well layed out, easy to follow the instructions and simple in the language the auther uses. Most of the instruction is suited to the streets and the defence needed for most of the common attacks on the unsuspecting public. So all-in-all I would say it is a book I would recomend to anyone who fears for their safty.
If I had any complaint to make about it, it would be that some of the moves in the book are so severe that should they be used in good and earnest you would probably end up in jail.
Good for historical curiosity.......2007-08-03
I admit: buy giving only 2 stars I am being a little "strict" on this product. Don't get me wrong: Get Tough is a must, a classic reading, which should be even nowadays (as it was in the past) a required reading for everywhere Hand to Hand combat is taught. 30 tecs are presented here, from easy to medium difficulty, so readiliy applicable in combat.
However, I found the most interesting part of the book to be the historical aspect. 99% of us average Joes (that is, NOT Navy Seals, Marines, Swat and special ops officers) won't use the extensives parts on "capturing a prisoner", and gun disraming. So the tecniques which are more likely to be used by normal citizens are unfortunately just 3 or 4 (ok, 5 if the "Japanese strangle" is counted).
A little bit limited.
But this ic just caused by the historial background of the book, namely WWII, which by default limits the applicability of most scenarios.
In sum: interesting "historical piece", but for urban style street fights, there are better ways to learn "Edge of the hand strike" or "Palm heel strike".
Buy it, start from there, but then increase your knowledge drastically !
If it bleeds, you can kill it........2007-06-23
The neatest thing in this book is the diagram that shows you where to cut an adversary with a knife, and an accompaning chart that shows how many minutes, or seconds, it takes for your victim to become unconscience, and how long to die. They show the Sykes/Fairbairn designed dagger, variations of which are readily available.
I am sure that some of the techniques in the book assumes that your adversary is even less well trained than yourself, otherwise, they wouldn't work. However, many of the moves are so bold and daring, they would be worth a try, rather than be captured or killed. Like, wrapping your elbow around your adversary's wrist, of the hand that is holding a pistol, and then raming his chin with the palm of your free hand, digging his eyes with your fingers, and simultaneously kneeing him in the privates. (Obviously, the testicles attack techniques won't work if your adversary is a woman. But who would have thought of such a thing in 1943?)
This is war, and not self defense. The people writing this book knew that many would get themselves killed attempting the techniques shown. But they also knew that many would get killed anyway. At least this gave them a fighting chance, and some would save themselves that would otherwise die if they did nothing. Perhaps this doesn't make logical sense, but remember that wars are usually fought by young, impressionable kids, teen agers, really. If they just BELIEVE that their 'old man' instructor told them the best way to handle a situation, that belief did much to carry them through a difficult spot. This book was at least an attempt to instill confidence in young men, that were facing a situation that no one wants to face. And not knowing what to do.
I don't like martial arts, most of which are based upon oriental practice. Why spend years trying to learn the complicated throws, blocks and strikes developed by overly cranial orientals? And it is often worthless on the street, anyway. Instead, kick a guy in the balls, poke your fingers in his eyes, and then grab your knife and cut his whatchamacallit artery, and give him two minutes to bleed to death.
You should also read some of the more modern CQC books, after your read this one.
Quaint and amusing.......2006-09-06
This book made me chuckle a few times, as many of the techniques from this "classic" WWII combatives manual have been proven less than effective. Self-defense manuals have evolved tremendously over the past half-century!
This was probably the first "realistic" combatives manual to be mass produced, and I suppose learning a few ill-advised moves is better than no instruction at all. If anything, reading this text helped to instil a mindset that fighting for one's life was no game, and that you needed to go all out and show no mercy.
Being able to "kill a man with a matchbook" was more of a psychological boost for a naive soldier, and it taught one to use a hammerfist rather than the more common straight punch (which often resulted in broken fingers). The concept of judo throws was considered exotic and frightening by many Westerners, and proved to be an additional boost in confidence (even if it didn't work off the mat against a motivated opponent).
The "Timetable of Death" which tells exactly how many seconds your enemy would remain alive after receiving a stab to various vital areas has proven woefully inaccurate (although I'm certain such information was excellent for morale).
A quaint bit of history -- and if you happen upon a 1st edition in good condition, it's worth a bit of money on the collectors' market.

This is the best book I've found on the adult child's dilemma when a family elder's care requires nursing facility placement. It covers a breadth of feelings and responses of both the adult child and the elder, and gives sensitive guidance.

"My only hobby," writes Nevada District Court judge Lane in his usual no-nonsense, straight-ahead style, "is refereeing professional prizefights." Right. And Mark McGwire likes to hit home runs. One of the most ubiquitously recognizable faces in the sweet science, "Maximum Mills" (don't dare show up in his courtroom if you're guilty) has been refereeing fights--nearly 100 of them title contests, including the infamous disqualification of Mike Tyson for biting the ear of Evander Holyfield--for more than three decades, handling them the way he handles business from the bench: with unquestioned gavel-to-gavel authority. In a folksy, anecdote-filled memoir that pulls no punches, he introduces you to his particular corner of the sporting universe, separating boxing fact from fiction as if they were a pair of heavyweights in the clinches. He can be as brutal as an unseen uppercut: he constantly nails Don King for behavior worse than his hair, and is especially tough on Tyson's pleas that he's been taken advantage of, abused, humiliated and betrayed all his life. "That's the sort of self-pitying crap I hear far too often in court," Lane counters, "where the accused hides behind artificial excuses and refuses to stand up like a man." There is no room for political correctness in his universe; with Lane, if you don't stand up by the count of 10 you're out, which makes him both fascinating and exasperating, a man resolute enough to live his life in black and white, while most of the rest of us just try to shadow box through the shades of gray. --Jeff Silverman
Book Description
I'm a fighter--a man who's reached his goals by continually hammering away while refusing to either back off or quit; a country boy, long on Marine Corps values, who wears his heart on his sleeve.
So, let's get it on . . .
With his distinctive bald head, bow tie, and signature phrase, "Let's get it on!" Mills Lane is the most
colorful and best-known referee in professional boxing. With almost a hundred world championship fights under his belt, he has a reputation for being one of the sharpest, most honorable refs in the business, a reputation confirmed internationally on June 28, 1997, when he disqualified Mike Tyson for twice biting Evander Holyfield's ears during what became the most bizarre championship fight in history.
Now, in
Let's Get It On, Mills Lane provides a ringside seat for anyone who wants an intimate look into the outrageous personalities and often scandalous behavior that has defined the "sweet science" since he started refereeing. Former Marine, ex-professional boxer, and lifelong boxing fan, Lane is also a mediator beyond the boxing ring--he has been a Nevada district court judge nicknamed "Maximum Mills" for his stiff penalties and will be the arbiter of justice on his own syndicated TV show.
No one is granted clemency from Judge Lane's razor-sharp insights and provocative opinions in this refreshing book, which takes on the greedy promoters, lazy fighters, and corrupt practices of boxing. Lane exposes the insanity at the heart of the boxing business: the artificially created rankings, the confusing number of sanctioning bodies, and the flesh merchants who take advantage of their fighters.
Mills Lane has been at the center of the good, the bad, and the ugly of boxing for three decades, including the Tyson-Holyfield debacle; the Oliver McCall--Lennox Lewis fight when former champ McCall dissolved into tears; and the Henry Akinwande--Lewis bout where Lane disqualified Akinwande for refusing to fight. But for every Mike Tyson or Riddick Bowe who never maximized his potential because he wouldn't pay the price, there is also an Evander Holyfield or Sugar Ray Leonard or Marvin Hagler or Alexis Arguello or Eddie Futch, the shining lights who show that there are important values to be learned from boxing: courage, honesty, integrity, responsibility, persistence, and loyalty, qualities we all need to live a good and righteous life.
This gutsy, sharp-tongued man of justice wants to save the profession he loves and reclaim a society that lacks the moral fiber to raise responsible citizens by sharing the code of conduct instilled in him by the Marine Corps and his boxing teachers and honed by a career in the law: Make no excuses. Never be afraid to say what you think. Cherish your fellow human beings. Strive to be honest. Important lessons from a country boy who wears his heart--and his integrity--on his sleeve.
Customer Reviews:
Tells it like it is.......2004-07-13
On page 216, Mills Lane says of his wife, "She knew that I am consumed by my job, referee prizefights as a hobby, and am hardheaded and highly opinionated." Is he ever! And that is what makes this book so refreshing. Here is a man who says we are all responsible for our own actions. Imagine that. Judge Mills Lane and writer Jedwin Smith have combined their experience and talents to give us a glimpse of a human being we see all too rarely: a man of great honor. By the time you finish this book, you will know who puts the grit in integrity.
An abundance of errors spoil a potential good read........1999-09-29
Here's a quick review of Mills Lane's new book "Let's Get It On":
(Let me cut right to the chase and point out the abundant inaccuracies that I ran across.)
1-(page 29)- Lane credits Oliver McCall with a First round KO of Lennox Lewis. It was the 2nd round.
2-(page 97)- Lane states that Bobby Chacon became the Super Flyweight Champ with a 15 round decision over Bazooka Limon. That was Super Featherweight/Jr. Lightweight.
3-(page 99)- Lane states that the second Livingstone Bramble-Ray Mancini fight was for the Welterweight title. It was the Lightweight title.
4-(page 101)- Lane states that Iran Barkley "TWICE knocked Thomas Hearns unconscious". Barkley Ko'd Hearns in the first fight, he decisioned him in the second. It should be noted that Barkley did knock Tommy down in the second fight though.
5-(page 122)- Lane states that the common opponent between Erbito Salavarria and Betulio Gonzales was San Sacristan. It was not. It was Natalio Jimenez. (No, I did not know that one off the top of my head. But guess what? I looked it up. Novel idea.)
6-(page 172)- Lane states that Octavio Meyran held his ground and his integrity, in the Douglas-Tyson fight, by (Meyran) insisting that he did nothing wrong with regards to the bogus "Long Count" in the 8th round, in which Douglas hit the canvas from a Tyson uppercut. In fact, in a press conference right after a meeting involving Don King and the heads from the WBC & WBA (Suliaman and Mendoza), Meyran said the following: "I don't know why I start my count and make my mistake. Yes, he (Douglas) was down longer than 10 seconds". This followed a comment by Don King stating that the "first knockout obliterates the second one". After that comment King turned directly to Meyran, who then showed the world he had no backbone. Note: Before this "meeting", Meyran defended his actions. After the meeting, it was a different story.
7-(page 179)- Lane states that Chavez retained his Jr. Welterweight title after his controversial Draw with Pernell Whitaker. The fight was for Whitaker's Welterweight title.
8-(page 182)- Lane refers to Matt Fleischer, as opposed to Nat Fleischer. Come on now.
9-(page 189)- In a fight that Lane refereed, he states that Gerry Cooney was knocked down by Larry Holmes in the "third or fourth round". It was the Second round.
10-(page 246)- In another fight that Lane refereed, he states that "Donald Curry hit Milton McCrory with a tremendous right hand early in the third round and McCrory went down". He goes on to state that Milton was kayoed with another right hand, after he got up. Curry kayoed McCrory in the Second round. And the first knockdown was with a Left Hook.
11-(picture between 118 & 119)- Lane states Mike Tyson retained his WBC title against Trevor Berbick. Tyson Won the title from Berbick.
12-(picture between 118 & 119)- Lane states that: "Once he was released from prison, heavyweight contender Mike Tyson had all he could handle from Razor Ruddock, winning a 12-round decision on June 28, 1991. Tyson faced Ruddock BEFORE he went to prison.
Lane is brutally honest and the book reads like a friendly conversation that you might have with him over a beer and a stogie. He tells it like it is and I find it refreshing to read a book when I know that no punches are being pulled. But Jesus! The inaccuracies fly off the pages like crazy. And I'll guarantee that I didn't even catch all of them.
I respect Mills and think he is one of the best refs in the business. And I was eagerly anticipating his book. But if I read something that I am familiar with and find the information to be inaccurate, when I read something new, how am I to know if what is said it is true or not?
As you can probably guess, I am a stickler for detail. The correct information for the "flubs" that I listed, is easily accessible. And the fact that this book was written by a former D.A. and Judge, professions where detail is a critical part of the job, makes these inaccuracies even more infuriating. I find the laziness as it pertains to this book, totally inexcusable. What could have been a very good read, turned out to be very disappointing.
If it sounds like I'm being too harsh, well, I'm merely echoing the tone of Mills' book. I'm sure he'd find the seemingly half-assed approach to the research done in this book as annoying as I did. I'm just here to point it out to him. He'd do the same to us.
a MUST READ for every American!.......1999-09-04
Mr. Lane put everything in perspective with his down to Earth angle on life. He lives by what he learned from boxing and the marines. It's an inspiring book and a real kick in the butt! It's a pep talk on life and inside look at the world of boxing. Thank you Mr. Lane.
hard hitting analysis of boxing and daily life as we know it.......1998-11-17
an excellent book from a man whose had a vantage point few in life ever have. what's the saying..."all the worlds a stage." just a phenomenal book. i could not put it down. i read nearly 80 pages at the book store and before i knew it i had been there nearly 1 hour.
This is far more than a book about boxing........1998-09-05
I was greatly surprised and pleased by what an engaging and interesting book this is. Mills Lane is not just a boxing referee, but a judge in Nevada and a former professional boxer. He is also one of the most outspoken, to-the-point people I've encountered in print or real life in some time. He talks not only about major fights he's officiated, but also about his philosophy, his time in the Marine Corps, his view of being a judge, boxing generally, and his own boxing experiences. This is also something of a "personal motivation/inspiration" book. This is boxing through the eyes of a very insightful, interesting man.

Book Description
Forgiving your sister's murderer, living on death row, meditating at Auschwitz, coming to terms with your parent's dementia: These strong stories and many others reveal how adversity in life can act as a spiritual teacher. With profiles of promi-nent American Buddhist teachers and activists such as Bernie Glassman and Joan Halifax, as well as painful experiences of other Americans, Europeans, and New Zealanders,
Challenging Times looks at dramatic but not uncommon aspects of life and how Buddhism can offer tools for growth and change. The first in the new series
What Buddhism can offer.
I was expecting to meet a charismatic teacher, a dynamic whirlwind of energy-Bernie from Brooklyn, Jewish fixer turned Zen entrepreneur. But I found myself facing a short, unassuming man in late middle age, with a bulbous nose and quiet eyes. I liked the way he paused to think before answering. He listened. Listening seems to lie at the heart of Glassman's philosophy. . . . Through creating projects that meet immediate materials needs, a community is perhaps being born in which people care for one another, and where the social structures are themselves a teaching of interconnectedness.

You'll enjoy it as a perfect compliment to a harder workout.......2004-10-06
I know why they call this a program you will love, because it is not hard. I enjoy the exercises and will continue to perform them, but I am not making this my primary workout. Instead I will adapt it for use three days a week on my easy days, as this is a perfect complimentary workout. I consider myself in good shape, but not great, and I was easily able to jump in and do the 12th week workouts precisely how Fitzgerald specified, boots and all. There were only several out of the 46 total exercises that I could not perform easily. The only way someone could say that it is deceptively hard is that a few exercises are nearly impossible. I found those are strictly for the abs though however and not any other part of my body feels a workout. I am not sore or exhausted, and the cals are the only valuable part to me as the running in week 12 was not that advanced- anyone can tell you to run for two 20 odd minute intervals with 5 minute walking breaks. The ab work is good, but other than that it is not challenging for someone who has some flexibility and performs cals regularly as I had. I have no doubt that these are valuable exercises, but this is far from the billing that I was reading on everyone else's review about what a workout you'll get from it. If you want a challenging workout buy something from Stew Smith and adapt this workout to include all the exercises for the off, or easy, days. It deserves four stars because this is probably good for most people who don't stretch enough and/or want to ease into a workout. All the supporters of this book must forgive me for making it sound so bad, it is a quality purchase, this just doesn't seem like the ultimate workout.
When the going gets tough..........2004-07-13
This book is designed to put the reader through two workout programmes simultaneously. There is a Calisthenics programme, and a Running programme. This is a 12-week cycle; as Fitzgerald says, special forces are always changing and adapting, so there is no 'official' cycle that remains constant forever. Thus, this is flexible here, too. This book is all the reader needs except his own muscles and desire to succeed. No special equipment to buy or anything else. The back cover says this is not for the timid or the lazy. This is like being in the military. No excuses - just do it!
The author is a former Navy frogman named Tom Fitzgerald. He continues his fitness goals by running in the Boston Marathon and other such events. Fitzgerald promises better self-esteem, better motivation, and better accomplishment for those who will complete this programme.
The conditioning programme targets five different body parts with 46 different exercises. The running involves running and rapid walking with some intervals of sprinting. There is also a good deal of stretching involved. If you cannot give this one or two hours a day every day for 12 weeks then maybe this is not the book for you. But one could still get it and look at the exercises that have good descriptions and are useful, even if not following the programme.
Stretching
There is stretching prior to each session. This helps prevent muscle injury and makes one limber. Stretching after also helps healing faster, too.
Diet
This book does not go too much into diet since there are other books ready for that, but it gives some general rules. Vitamins and supplements are discussed and basic common sense like not drinking alcohol or too much sugar or caffeine before a workout. Their advice is humourous: 'If you're looking around for a mate, consider marrying a nutritionist.'
Other general instructions
This section deals with sore muscles, shoe and foot care (very important for the heavy running schedule). Keeping count and keeping at it is important too! At the end of the book is a record for keeping track of progress.
The Stretching Programme
There are 14 stretches in this, and each of them are done both before and after the calisthenics and running programmes. An important note is that this stretching routine was developed at a university training programme and not by the Navy. The chart at the end of the section shows what you should do, including how much time this should take. The opening stretches should take 5 minutes, and the final stretches should take 2 minutes.
The Calisthenics Programme
There are 46 exercises that are done over the course of the week that will exercise ever muscle in your body. There are five main categories.
General Warm-up
There are 10 exercises in the general warm up, and these exercises work to prepare the whole body for work.
Abdominal Exercises
There are 11 exercises in the abdominal section, and they work to strengthen and stretch the abs and your lower back.
The Side and Obliques
There aren't too many exercises in this part -- only 5, but they are important. These are really tough exercises beyond the usual stuff for sides and obliques.
Leg and Groin Exercises
There are 12 exercises in this section and legs are one of the major muscle groups in the body and often get overlooked. People think of abs and arms for fitness, but the legs carry the body weight all day long.
Arm Chest and Shoulder Exercises
There are 8 exercises in this final section for the upper body. The book said no special equipment is needed, but once will need a place to do pull-ups.
At the end of this section is the 12-week chart for how many exercises need to be done. Out of the 46 exercises you will do about half of them each day. Some things like leg stretchers are done almost every day. Some things like the one-legged push-up are done less often.
SEAL training calls running programmes 'conditioning hikes'. These involve running, walking double-time, and sprints in a programme on varying terrain, mostly on sand, which goes from being soft to hard-packed to ridged to in the water, often done in boots. The book makes recommendations for running in boots, and running with ankle weights or other kinds of terrain variations.
The first week involves running two miles in 15 minutes and makes progress up to eight miles at a maximum for the rest of the programme.
The exercises are described in good form each with pictures of each step. All exercises can be done by males or females. The pictures are basic black-and-white and sometimes a little grainy.
One drawback is that this is a tough workout programme from the very beginnin, and some people not be able to tolerate the stress and muscle effort from the outset. A Week Zero or prep conditioning programme would probably be a good idea to add if the book is ever reprinted.
The last part of this book involves setting out the schedule in a good format. There are also pages are for recording a personal record of progress and that can be motivating.
The Original! (And Best?).......2001-08-18
The workout programme described in this book is deceptively difficult! Having read many of the recent titles which detail Navy SEAL workout regimens, I have found this one to be the most practical and time efficient. Some of the exercises would be considered obsolete by many, but once you get down to the nitty gritty this is a hardcore training programme (As one would expect from a former Navy frogman!). The instructions are very clear and presented with wry humour. The weekly and daily schedules are particularly effective as you can monitor your progress daily which is very motivating. It is also interesting to note that this book was first published in 1985! If you can find a copy, Buy it!
A taste of Navy SEALs?.......2000-04-28
This is the most amazing exercise book I've EVER read. It's literally a crime they don't publish it anymore. Fitzgerald's exercise regimen is guaranteed to give you unbelievably "cut" muscles in a short time. His regimen will also force you to dig deep inside yourself for stamina, willpower, and endurance. Sound familiar? It should: Fitzgerald is ex-UDT.
For lower body conditioning, nothing I've seen compares to Fitzgerald's book. However, readers should add the upper-body and cross-training exercises found in the recent publications by Caracci, Helvenston, DeLisle, Smith, and other Navy SEALs.
Excellent.......1999-10-31
Like most I also received thisbook thru a military book club. At the time, I was beginning my long hard road to the SEALs, this pub helped tramendeously!! I was in better shape then in boot camp. This book is truely a keeper, that won't collect dust on a shelf.
