Excellent!!! A must have for any poker library. .......2007-10-18
This box set is A must have. Before I got these books I never would do to good in tournaments and pretty much brake even in cash games, but after I read these books I found out what I was doing wrong. And I was excited when I won the next tournament I entered. All in all this box set is a must-have in my opinion.
Great Gift for Poker Lover.......2007-09-20
I got this for my husband and he hasn't stopped reading it. He will only pause to tell me something he thinks I might want to hear. 8-) I'm not a poker person, but with all the Poker on TV that I've seen (because of my husband) and listening to him endlessly talk about it, I think if these books have kept his attention the way they have, they must be good.
I don't know if that helps you but knowing my hubby, anything that pulls him away from playing poker must be good.
they look great, fun and easy to read.......2007-09-18
As I said, this set looks great on my "poker books shelf" :) But aside that, it's a great read. Even the black book with many interesting details about poker. Green book is well written but my favorite is the blue book. It was so valuable to me to have a free ride threw profesional's poker mind. Highly recommend it.
Good Easy Reading.......2007-09-06
Have read 1st two books, and took a 3rd & 5th in tournments, can't wait to finish last book!!
Great poker books!.......2007-07-24
I have read 15-20 poker booksa and these are among the best I have read in a long time. Phil's dedication to the game and his committment to keep learning is well communicated in an easy to read style. It keeps you entertained and makes you feel ready to be more aggressive with a better understanding of what winning poker is about.

Excellent Children's Bible.......2007-10-10
We preferred this cover to the NRSV over the Noah's Ark cover, which seems a bit juvenile as children go from middle elementary to upper.
The references, articles, maps, and tidbits are excellent, and the children in our church love their Bibles!
Nice Bible not only for children........2007-01-10
I wanted a copy of the NRSV to use for reference. With this you get the bonus of helpful notes that anyone can easily understand. Good translation that is trusted as true to the original.

A favorite and great for learning colors!.......2007-10-15
This has been my 2yo daughter's favorite book for 6 months! She is learning her colors too! A fun, never-dull book for toddlers.
Loved this as a child.......2007-09-12
We had this book when I was a child, though I think my parents bought it for my younger sister. Anyway, I loved it even as an older child (i.e. seven years old and so on), and as an adult it still tickles my funny bone. I plan to buy this and other Boynton books for my boy when he's a little older.
My family's favorite Boynton book.......2007-08-13
The concept is simple enough -- recognizing patterns, and recognizing the humor when something doesn't go as planned. This works as a great metaphor for adults, too, because we'll run across plenty of turkeys who screw things up for themselves and others. After all, that's life.
Bad Boynton Book.......2007-06-03
I usually like Boynton books but I'm not a fan of this one. It's subject matter and writing is terrible. "Blue hat, green hat, oops." It's that same sentence repeated for about 6 pages, switching out hat for socks, pants and shoes. There is no story. There's nothing to teach my daughter from reading this book, nor anything that could spark creativity. It's just boring.
the Washington Color School.......2007-05-25
Here in the Washington DC metro area, we parents are always trying to impress other parents with how brilliant our children are. This book is key for that purpose. If your toddler knows colors, he or she can "read" this book with an accuracy that will be the envy of all within hearing. The book also, quite practically, teaches the reading eye to start at the top left and move right. It also teaches the little imp to be a comedian, screaming OOPSIE or WHOOPSIE instead of the orthodox "oops." So higly recommended that I insist you buy one. OOPS, shouldn'ta said that....

Must Read for Stuart Woods fans.......2004-12-04
Over the years I've read many Stuart Woods books starting with White Cargo which is still one of my favorites. From there I read many of his early books and read many later books up until the last three years. Having spent so much time reading his different writings including one of his early novels of sailing, I thought it would be worthwhile to read his first book. Blue Water is about Stuart Woods' love of sailing and his adventure in participating in a transatlantic race solo. While this book shows signs of an inexperienced writer, inordinate details that do nothing to move the book along, it does provide a great framework of what is involved in undertaking such a challenging race including the dangers at sea which become quite clear in the last 8th of the book. In addition, if you have studied Woods' other books you get a look at his early life and how those influences may have affected his writings.
If you are a fan of Stuart Woods' novels, this is a worthwhile read. If you are a fan of the sea and sailing, you'll also enjoy this book. Other than that, I wouldn't take the time to find this book and pay the high price necessary since it is so far out of print and sells at a high level.

"Fairy Books".......2007-01-20
I was very happy to find a book that contained all the "Fairy Books". However, the printing is so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. It is also very difficult to find the fairy tale you want because there is no index. If I had to do it over again I would buy the books individually, it is worth the investment
reads like a phone book.......2007-01-13
The format of this book is AWFUL- as unattractive as you could possibly imagine and on fairly cheap paper as well. Had I known it would be as bad as it was I would never have bought it.
TERRIBLE. Do NOT buy this book........2006-11-04
I was so excited to see that all of the "color book" fairy tale collections were gathered in one place. When I received the book I was VERY disappointed. No thought was given this volume, from the inappropriate cover image (stock photography of a rainforest frog?) to the pages within : no illustrations, no consideration given to the needs of the reader at all (just dense columns of small type intended solely to minimize the number of pages.) Poorly bound. All of which combine to remove any pleasure from reading these delightful stories.
Look for the individual colored books .... they're worth the effort.
Lot of value for the money.......2006-08-10
If you want all of Andrew Lang's stories in a convenient format this is for you. Ideal for the busy parent who wants to read a story a night or for the voracious child reader, for whom the small print is not problem. It may not be fancy but it's tremendous value.
Content outstanding; presentation poor.......2006-08-10
Having read Lang's Fairy stories when I was younger, I was truly looking forward to receiving this volume. To say the least, I was very dissappointed when I received it. How does this book fail? Let me count the ways;
1) The beautiful illustrations that I remember so well, are gone. There is not one illustration in the entire volume.
2) The Table of Contents is sorely lacking. The individual stories are not listed; only the books. Trying to find a specific story is challenging, to say the least. An index would have been helpful.
3) The print is SO tiny, that severe eye-strain is a definite probability.
4) What is with the tree frog on the cover?
My suggestion is, if you wish to read Lang's Fairy Book series, buy them individually. They are truly wonderful stories, but this volume is NOT the way to proceed. Buying them individually will assuredly cost more, but it will be well worth the price.

Book Description
Artists, designers, printers, and crafters alike would agree that the selection and use of color is of great importance to their work. And yet, a great deal of misunderstanding surrounds color mixing. Michael Wilcox offers a total reassessment for the principles underlying color and color usage. This revised edition of the original Blue & Yellow Don't Make Green--the first major breakaway from the traditional concepts of the three primary colors: red, blue and yellow--contains more than 80 pages of new information on the transparency and makeup of colors and includes many new color mixing swatches.
Customer Reviews:
Finally - colors make sense........2007-09-06
This ia a fabulous book for any artist or aspiring artist. From a pallet of only 12 colors he show you the hows and especially the whys of mixing just about any color you want. Especially good for water colorists. You'll never be mixing "mud" again.
Ben Albert
Blue and Yellow Don't Make Green.......2007-05-20
I am very pleased with this book. It is filled with valuable information for the painter which is presented in terms that are easy to comprehend. I am currently working my way through the exercises and by doing so can already see where the book has been worth every penny. As someone well acquainted with "mud" I think the book will save me a fortune in paint down the road. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to recommend this book to anyone interested in painting whether new to painting or an experienced artist. We can all learn something new from it. In fact, I think it would make a great text book.
Presents a system that works.......2006-05-26
Before reading this book, I already had a good basis in the basic color theory: the primaries, secondaries, tertiaries, and the ideas of complementary and analogous colors. I even knew that mixing complementaries would result in browns to blacks.
However, I hadn't learned how to apply that knowledge in the way this book presents it. As a result, sometimes I would mix colors that were muddy or shaded, and I didn't know why. This book explains it all so clearly and so simply that you are sure to retain and use the information with ease.
In summary, this book tells you how to mix any color you want, reliably and with confidence, just using six colors, two of each primary color. Everyone who understands color knows that yellows fall on a range from almost-orange to almost green, blues fall on a range from almost-green to almost-purple, and reds fall on a range from almost-purple to almost orange. The fact that these colors are in a range means that, when you mix them, you will get different results depending on where the colors fall in that range.
This book tells how to determine where a color falls in those ranges, and also gives you a clear and understandable way of knowing what to expect when mixing different primaries. The system works.
One nice thing is that, with the price of paints today, if you need to, you can only purchase six colors and you will pretty much be set. Accordingly, this book recommends that you purchase those six colors, two from each primary, with one color each that tends toward each end of each primary (a green-yellow and an orange-yellow, for example).
Of course, you can always buy a larger range of colors, but armed with the information in this book, when you do so, you can confidently purchase and mix those colors and have a good idea of what the results will be each time.
If you are impatient with theory, you can skip all the stuff about reflected light, additive versus subtractive color mixing, color perception in the brain, and so on; it may or may not all be true, and is anyway only Mr. Wilcox's theory about *why* his system works. Instead, if you are impatient, just read the juicy stuff about the colors themselves. It will definitely improve your ability to mix colors well. If I were making a list of "must have" books in an artist's reference library, this would be one of them.
Nothing new, much that's not right.......2006-03-14
The three-primary theory that Wilcox maligns in the introduction has been discredited for a hundred years. But the system he expouses has been around even longer. Much of the theory in the book is simply wrong.
http://www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/book3.html#wilcox
The method works for me - don't be put off by the writing style.......2006-03-04
The 12 colour palette suggested by Michael Wilcox at first had me somewhat hesitant. A simple search will show you that there are so many books on colour mixing that surely, it cannot be as simple as the Wilcox method. Despite my skepticism I tried some of the mixing exercises on the book. Creating swatches as the exercises suggested bored me so I created pictures with the prescribed colour mixes instead. I have been delighted with the results.
The economic benefit of using only a 12 colour palette is also very pleasing!
The writing style of the book is not one that flows naturally. I think this is a shame and something which could put some readers off.
Some people may also be wary of this book as there is a suite of merchandising from the School of Colour and it may appear as if purchase of their products is necessary for success. Happilly, this is not the case. Wilcox gives you all the information you need to find the 12 paints in whatever brand or media (watercolour, acrylics, oils etc) you wish.
If you have already tried other colour mixing then you may actually have many of the 12 colours in your collection.
I encourage people not to read this book and judge it, but try it and then assess whether it works for you. The true rewards are in the application.

Customer Reviews:
You'll never please everyone.......2004-03-07
But in this case, the only thing that did not please me about "Beyond the Blue Moon" was that it ended. I've heard a lot of praise for "Blue moon Rising", the prequel to the Hawk and Fisher series, but I came upon that book only shortly before "Beyond the Blue Moon". My Hawk and Fisher were in Haven and this seemed like a truly worthy send up of the two dealiest individuals in fantasy writing. My only regret is that Green isn't filling in a few more blanks in the lives of Hawk and Fisher in Haven. I honestly can't get enough of them.
let's see more of these two........2003-09-08
I read the Hawk and Fisher books before I ever knew "Blue Moon Rising" existed, I found it in a used book store and felt like I struck gold. These books are witty, fun, well written, and thouroughly enjoyable, (and it must be said that bad guys getting thier just deserts is always a good thing even if it is just fiction.) Beyond the Blue Moon was not quite as good as Blue Moon Rising, but that's rather like saying that a T-bone isn't as good as a ribeye steak. I think Mr. Green has lots of room to work with Hawk and Fisher, I don't see those two settled down on a little backwater farmstead raising kids and chickens.
Seriously disappointed.......2003-07-23
I adored "Blue Moon Rising". It was moving, unsual, and had that real sense of myth that the best fantasy works have. "Beyond the Blue Moon", whether in comparison to its predecessor or considered on its own, is trite.
Hawk/Rupert's brother, King Harald of the Forest Kingdom, has been murdered and his Champion comes to Haven to bring back the legendary Rupert and Julia (Fisher) to solve the crime and set all to rights. This immediately establishes this book as a Hawk and Fisher story, which is a problem. While the Hawk and Fisher stories are good for what they are, for me the feel of those books just doesn't fit with the atmosphere established in "Blue Moon Rising". If you want mythic power, emotional power and character insights, you won't find them here. And the whole "We're Hawk and Fisher, we don't take nuthin' from no-one and we're so devoted to each other" shtick is wearing pretty thin by now.
Anyway, Hawk and Fisher destroy half of Haven as their going away present to the city they hate and travel to the Forest Kingdom incognito to solve Harald's murder. Cue a witless succession of cliches, smart aleck conversations, return of old characters, and an overly heavy dollop of religion before the book ends. But worse than the lame and overly lengthy storyline is that ending. EVERYTHING is resolved, tied up, explained, married off, killed off or buried. By the time Green is done with "Beyond the Blue Moon", nothing is left. There's no more room for further stories in the land he created. And I think that's sad.
So why two stars? Some people like their favourites series to end this way, and may have no fault to find whatsoever. I'm not one of them.
Blergh..........2001-12-19
The heading says it all really... I have read and reread blue moon rising more times than i can count, and would easily call it one of my favourite novels. Naturally, i was excited when i heard of the coming sequel, and rushed to read it when it came out. I was bitterly disappointed. It was like a rushed effort to get all the characters together for a badly thought out adventure that ends like a bad scooby doo movie. Properly done, this could have been a great novel and it had some great ideas. As it is, i almost felt like weeping from disappointment when it was over. Avoid at all costs.
Funny, different and interesting.......2001-07-29
I have not read blue moon raising, before I read Beyond and did not even know it excisted before I read the other reviews. It stands perfectly well on its own and I might still read the blue moon raising.
For mee the best part of this story is the humor in it. Its quite as funny as the Taltos books of steven Brust, probably one of the most funny sci-fi writers around. The story itself is also good, not to much of the stuff you think will come (the aint-I-smart-I-knew-what-would-happend stuff). The story is also quite refreshing in its ability to discuss many of the philosophical questions around gods, interference and free will. There are obviosly hidden references to much and to many historical people here. At the same time the plot itself is good again without falling into to much black and white trap as many fantasy novels tend to do. I also like his gutsy women, its a lot of girlpower in this book.
For the humour I give it a five, for the inventive story behind the story I give it a four, for the story itself a three, all in all a quite good four.

Book Description
Red Green Blue is almost the title of a 1963 painting by Ellsworth Kelly. Red Blue Green, a monumental rectangular oil work, considered a crucial fulcrum point in the artist's career, represents Kelly's concerns about the tension between the figure and the ground, offering two precisely shaped and balanced red and blue forms set against a strongly contrasting green ground. Working within a strict set of limits, he created a string of similarly grand, powerful works and defined many of the ideas about line, form, and color that still drive his work today. These works, made from the late 50s to the mid-60s, established the artist's singular style and his reputation as one of the most innovative abstract painters of the latter half of the 20th century, one who boldly broke with the strictures of the abstract expressionist movement, which dominated painting in the United States in the 50s. Exploring the complex interplay of invented and real-world inspirations that led to this body of figure/ground paintings, this volume presents a selection of 21 major paintings and 36 related drawings, collages, and photographs from that time period, as well as a new painting from 2002 that reexamines related concerns.

One of the most important post-WWII artists.......2006-11-19
I live near the museum that houses the magnificent "painting" that is the subject of this great volume. This book has many supplementary plates in color and solid commentary. "Red Green Blue" is deceptively simple - three colors outlined in three shapes. But it is so much more - a work of art that questions the figure/ground function in painting; abstraction vs. representation (sometimes I see a pool and a plot of grass as seen aerially) and field painting's use of pure, non-representational color to create the work of art.

My Daughter's Favorite Book by Dr. Seuss.......2004-09-08
Researchers constantly find that reading to children is valuable in a variety of ways, not least of which are instilling a love of reading and improved reading skills. With better parent-child bonding from reading, your child will also be more emotionally secure and able to relate better to others. Intellectual performance will expand as well. Spending time together watching television fails as a substitute.
To help other parents apply this advice, as a parent of four I consulted an expert, our youngest child, and asked her to share with me her favorite books that were read to her as a young child. One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish was her pick as the best of the books by Dr. Seuss.
One of the appeals of this book is that it is relatively easy to learn to read, yet has much more variety than most other early readers. So your child will feel like she or he has accomplished a lot with reading this book, which is correct.
The title gives the key to why this book works well as an early reader. One word is changed at a time, with a clear illustration next to it. Most children will read the illustrations like a rebus and later associate the words with the sounds of the name for the pictures. At some point, they begin reading from the words. Very nice!
Here's another sequence: "black fish blue fish old fish new fish."
Then, when he moves on, he uses simple rhymes: "This one has a little star. This one has a little car."
Next, he progresses to substituting "some" for "fish" and adding a single verb to make a sentence as in "Some are read . . . . Some are old."
So almost any child can soon begin to read along with few errors in the first 2 or 3 pages. Whenever the child can go no more, you can just keep going. With repetition, more of the book becomes memorized and the process continues.
There is another reward for you and your child: The book also previews many of the wonderful characters and rhyming schemes that appear in other Dr. Seuss books. As a result, it will be easier to get started reading those books. You will feel like you are seeing an old friend again.
You can also use each rhyme to take off on your own speculations. Our daughter used to love to come up with alternative rhymes that fit the pictures.
Books like this one make it great fun to be either a parent or a child. In some cases, this book will be there for you in both roles over 20 to 40 years!
Overcome your mistaken beliefs about how children can start to learn to read by seeing your child start naturally by associating the words with the pictures as you read this wonderful book to him or her!
