Magic Tree House Box Set.......2007-10-09
What can I say about Magic Tree House Books? Wow! My eight year old son has been reading them for quite a while now. Our public library does a great job at keeping a variety but doesn't always have the one that he's just dying to read today. I hope that by giving him at least a few of his own favorites that are in this set to keep on hand at home will satisfy his very large reading appetite.
Great Books for a young boy to read.......2007-10-07
It takes a lot for me to get my son to read anything. But with these books he read them with euthusiam and read each one within a week.Magic Tree House Boxed Set 2, Books 5-8: Night of the Ninjas, Afternoon on the Amazon, Sunset of the Sabertooth, and Midnight on the Moon
Great books for little boys................2007-05-13
We read one or two chapters a night to my 5 1/2 yr. old son everynight. He loves all the topics that the books cover....dinosaurs, pirates, ninjas, etc. Great for any little boy!
Great Books.......2007-05-12
My 5 year old son loves the books. They are short enough to keep his attention, but long enough to challenge his imagination.
Great Gift.......2007-05-12
I bought these for my 6 year old grandson for his birthday. He was excited to get them, but they were laid aside for the even more exciting toys that he received. However, as the toys got boring, these books became more entertaining. Currently he is immensely enjoying reading them. They are excellent beginning readers.

Audio Books.......2007-08-23
Product was okay, and requested as a gift by my grandson...I was a little disappointed that books did not come with the cd's as read-a-long material.
I ended up buying the books sets separately for him.
Car trips are now exciting!.......2007-08-23
Car trips are now a pleasure with the kids eager to find out what happens next! No more listening to the wiggles!
Wow! What else can I say?.......2007-08-16
We discovered this through a Wendy's kids meal promo. Then I bought the set here at Amazon. It arrived in 2 days. What can I say? The narration is excellent! The story is simple, yet, well written to inspire your child to sit in his/her seat and use their imagination. It has given me "sanity" in my drives with the kids, with the treasured silence that has filled the air, as they listen to the cd. We've purchased the books as well, and it is great to have it to read along with. Listening to the author narrate also has made me a better story reader to my children.
My kids are 5 y.o. and 3 y.o. And they can follow the story really well. And I have a 9 month old baby, too...and the CD gets him sleeping pretty well while we drive.
We love Magic Tree House.......2007-08-09
Picked up our first copy at Wendy's. We've been hooked ever since. Great item.
Mesmerizing for kids.......2007-07-18
My kids (ages 7 and 5) love the Magic Tree House books. This audio CD was a livesaver on a long roadtrip. I had to keep looking back because I thought my kids had fallen asleep since they were so quiet. We had an amazingly peaceful car ride since they were so intent on listening to the stories. After the car trip, they kids have routinely asked to listen to the stories over again many times never seeming to be bored of them. A great investment!

In the second of the "Merlin Missions"--hardback additions to Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series--plucky heroes Jack and Annie must once again must travel back in time to rescue Camelot from looming danger.
One wonders why Merlin can't handle this sort of thing himself, but then of course we wouldn't get a chance to see Jack and Annie have another seat-of-the-pants adventure, getting mixed up with shape-shifting magic, armies of birds, a puzzling gem of power, and all sorts of other trouble. With the help of their old pal Teddy (Morgan le Fay's apprentice, last seen in dog form in four earlier Tree House stories), the two "Master Librarians and Magicians of Everyday Magic" must solve the mystery behind a castle full of ghosts and a menacing army of ravens. Not surprisingly, half the trouble comes in unraveling Merlin's riddles and helping Teddy use his rhyming magic correctly.
Osborne doesn't challenge readers overmuch (including the constant restatement of plot elements, perhaps worried that kids might otherwise forget or lose interest) and many parts of the story barely convince (like Teddy's "period" dialogue, e.g., "'Tis cool indeed"), but fans of the Magic Tree House will no doubt love another installment. (Ages 6 to 9) --Paul Hughes
Book Description
The intrepid Jack and Annie are summoned once again to the fantasy realm of Camelot. There, Merlin the Magician tells them that the Stone of Destiny has been stolen. The answer to its disappearance lies within a haunted castle. With a young magician named Teddy, Jack and Annie take on the challenge in an adventure that takes them to new heights and places they couldn’t even imagine!

Summer of the Sea Serpent (Magic Tree House #31).......2007-08-29
I am trying to get my son to want to read and this book was very successful at getting him to want to continue reading to see what's going to happen next.
Action-packed but creepy.......2007-06-13
I love the Magic Tree House books, and Summer of the Sea Serpent is a very cool Merlin Mission, but it is very mysterious and creepy. In one part, they went into a cave where the Spider Queen who lives inside it, the drawing looks creepy because the spider has about 13 eyes! And some other parts are mysterious, too. I really appreciate Mary Pope Osborne's great fantasy books, but this not exactly the best nor the worst. If you are a fan of the Magic Tree House series, check it out in the library, but don't buy it. Still, I love Magic Tree House.
Summer of the Sea Serpent.......2007-01-06
You just got to keep up with the kids . If you have the collection the book is great as always. My kids really enjoy them.
Summer of the Sea Serpent.......2006-11-03
Summer of the Sea Serpent
By Mary Pope Osborne
The book I'm reading is called Summer of the Sea Serpent. In the book, Jack and Annie go to Camelot. They meet an old friend, Teddy. He is a boy sorcerer who turned himself into a dog by accident, and Jack and Annie free him. He enjoys going on adventures with Jack and Annie. Teddy respects his magic, but needs some work on his rhyming. He turned Jack and Annie into ravens during last mission by accident, and had the idea to turn them into seals this mission. Do you think Teddy is a good sorcerer?

A cup, a compass, a key: the magic tree house has brought siblings Annie and Jack to Camelot, where they embark on a mysterious mission to find these enigmatic gifts. In this special hardcover addition to the bestselling Magic Tree House series, the young adventurers must travel to the Otherworld, an "ancient, enchanted land beyond the edge of the Earth, the place where all magic began" to save Camelot from dark wizard Mordred's evil spell. If they fail, Camelot will be forgotten forever. Fans of the beloved, highly readable series by Mary Pope Osborne will rise to the challenge of this longer, more complex companion to her other titles, which include Earthquake in the Early Morning and Twister on Tuesday. As in every story in the sequence, Jack and Annie bravely plunge into their quest, learning about a culture and time very far removed from their own, and prove once again that children can make a difference. (Ages 6 to 9) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
The Magic Tree House series has become a staple for inspiring kids to read. Christmas in Camelot is a very special Magic Tree House book. Here, author Mary Pope Osborne uses the literary skills for which she’s known to create a longer, more in-depth story featuring the characters kids have come to love. The result is magical: a fast-paced but detailed, easy-to-read story. Jack and Annie go on a quest to save Camelot, a quest that will prove to a beleaguered King Arthur that children and imagination really can make a difference.
Customer Reviews:
Book-Series.......2007-10-08
Book arrived in a timely manner. Was suprised it didn't have a dust cover as that was not stated in advertisement. However, book was in good shape.
Magic Treehouse Series.......2007-09-26
The magic treehouse series has been and continues to be a wonderful series for my son. Educational and interesting, these books capture his attention and inspire his imagination. It is so rewarding to see your child be enthusiastic about reading stories and reading in general. I have and will continue to suggest these books to other parents.
What happened?.......2006-11-07
What happened? Magic Tree House series books 1-28 were great, with educational tales filled with historical relevance that used just enough magic to make the story work. Buy the complete set of 1-28! However, the Christmas book (#29) and apparently all the following books are pure magic, fantasy drivel with no redeeming qualities. Did Mary Pope Osborne hope to capitalize on the Harry Potter craze? (I'm basing this on heresay, since I haven't read Harry Potter.) I slogged thru this book, cringed and gagged thru #30, and made my wife read the next ones to my 5 year old. I'm going to tell him there aren't anymore, because they are too awful to buy and read.
I very, very disappointed in what happened to this series. Please, please Mary Pope - get back to writing good stories and not this nonsense.
Christmas in Camelot (Magic Treehouse #29).......2006-11-04
My [...] year old son absolutely loved this series. I had to read it to him, though. When I would stop reading for bedtime he would be so excited to know what came next he would always beg for just one more chapter. We are now rereading the books (he just turned 7). As his reading skills improve, he is beginning to pick out words and phrases as I read to him
This book was on of the Merlin series and had a more magical component to it. There are Christmas references but it is definitely not a real "Christmas" story. It can be read any time of the year. The story is about a brother and sister Jack and Annie. They have a series of clues to get to quest which is given to them by the magician Merlin. You can read this book alone, but I would recommend reading some of the earlier ones in the series to get to know the characters.
Winter of the Ice Wizard by Mary Pope Osborne kids review .......2006-04-21
I liked this book because it had a lot of action. They had wolves that chased them and they also had winter storms. In this book they find two friends that help them. I would recommend this book for all boys and girls.

I purchased these books for my 6 yr old, after we had read the whole Junie B. Jones series, the Chapters are a little shorter and seems to take a little longer to get to the point, but she likes them none the less...

Book Description
It all started with a mysterious letter left at a tiny bookstore for authors Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. Its closing lines: "We just want people to know about this. The stuff that has happened to us could happen to anyone." Little could they imagine the remarkable adventure that awaited them as they followed Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace and a strange old book into a world filled with elves, goblins, dwarves, trolls, and a fantastical menagerie of other creatures. The oddest part is in entering that world, they didn't leave this one!
Five captivating books!
One thrilling adventure!
The Spiderwick Chronicles
Customer Reviews:
reading fantasy is fun.......2007-09-10
Reading a book that will be a movie in Feburary is fun for all ages. This book is full of imagination, magic and fantasy.
A Family Favorite.......2007-09-06
My kids can't get enough of these books! I have a 7 year old & a 5 year old, and we have read the books aloud to them. The 7 year old keeps trying to sneak the books away and read them himself, but we make him wait. They are an easy read--each book is about 100 pages, so it doesn't take long to read. The storyline is exciting for the kids. I'm glad we bought the boxed set, as you wouldn't want to buy just one! The five books make me think it's like one book broken into 5 parts.
Protesting the Price.......2007-09-05
These books are nice little fantasy stories, but I read the first one and couldn't bring myself to buy the others simply because you get so little book for your buck. At least the Series of Unfortunate Events, similarly packaged, were completely developed--and I thought they ran a bit short at the time! These Spiderwick books are more like 1/3 of a book each, or maybe even 1/4--and yet they're as much as 10 bucks a pop.
Anyway, the characters are pleasant and the central premise of a field guide to goblins and other fantastic creatures is a rich one. But I would want to see far more incredible story telling, and at a reasonable length, to invest in this series wholeheartedly.
Spiderwick Chronicles-- Not just for kids.......2007-08-25
I enjoyed many things about this book-- the artwork is enchanting and the storyline is inventive and as an adult reading this book - I was taken back to being a kid and loving every moment of being lost in the story and my own imagination. Great Read!
I'm 22 and I loved this set.......2007-08-24
My husband and I are into Fantasy and sci-fi books. We knew of Holly Black, and we love her other books. My husband loved the set and so did I. The pictures help give you a mental image of the people in the book, so as you read your mind has something to go off of. We plan on keeping this boxed set for when we have kids, I'm sure that they will love then just as much as we did.

Customer Reviews:
MY BOY LOVES READING.......2007-01-07
My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!
Day of the dragon kings.......2006-11-17
this book Its great because anyone liked cartoon this book would like him
Jack & Annie in China.......2006-04-25
When Jack and Annie found out that they were going to China, they went straight to the treehouse. They met Morgan there, and she told them that they had to save a library in China. The dragon king was going to burn all the books, because he didn't like them. Jack and Annie saw a huge map of the castle where the emporer lived and they used it to help them find the library. In the end, Jack and Annie saved the library and were heroes again.
I liked this book because of the Terra Cotta soldiers (we have one of these at home !), the Chinese hats that Jack and Annie wore, and the dragon kings clothes. And I think I'm a good judge of Chinese things, since I was born in China !
the burning of the books.......2006-02-02
I hate the way the Dragen King wanted to burn all the books in China. But I am glad that Jack and Annie saved one. They escaped eveything.
The Trip to China.......2005-04-13
This story take place on China in the 1970, the boy and the girl were ready to go to China and they go in to get the bamboo book that is on the city, and they find two Chinese people. They take them to the city and they see people selling fish, the boy told them if they can take them to the library to find the bamboo book that has all the secrets of China.
This book is mostly about two kids that go to China to look for the bamboo book that is in the city of China. They went to the library with the secret library card and finally they found the bamboo book.
In my opinion, I think its a very good book because, the trip to China and the Great Wall and the Dragon King's tomb.

Magic Tree House.......2007-09-24
These books on CD are fabulous. My five year old loves them. He tells me that he doesn't need illustrations because he can create images in his own mind. They are very educational. Each story covers a topic in such an interesting way that I now use these them to introduce that topic. These stories generated interest in history, science, art and much more.

Truly fun learning!.......2007-08-23
My son, who is 5, loves these stories! He would rather listen to the Magic Tree House Stories than watch a movie. And that is saying something for a kid that thinks the world is going to end if he doesn't get to watch his daily movie!
I love them because they have a smattering of interesting facts and the each story is long enough for me to get my dishes done uninterupted!
Magical!.......2007-05-15
Mary Pope Osborne is a genius! My 5 year-old daughter is totally enthralled with the "Magic Tree House" series, and she especially loves to listen to MPO read the stories aloud. Her imagination runs wild with Jack and Annie, and she has learned a great deal on a variety of topics at the same time. I cannot say enough good things about the books and CD's. You won't regret making this purchase for your child!

Book Description
Coryn, Soren, and the Band preside over a new Golden Age of the Great Tree under the subtle influence of the Ember. All seems well, but beneath the prosperity of peace Coryn is tortured by the suspicion that his evil mother, Nyra, is a hagsfiend and that his own blood carries the haggish taint. He wanders afar searching for the truth from hagsfiends themselves - putting the Great Tree in danger. Soren & the Band follow their new king to strange parts to guard him from the consequences of his obsession.

What a Great Read!.......2007-09-04
This book was great! I really enjoyed reading this book.
In the Golden Tree, The Band and the young King Coryn leave the tree. The ember that Coryn retrieved has made the Island of Hoole in an everlasting summer, where everything is golden, even in the time of the white rain. Otulissa stays behind, and finds that not everything is golden there. Two owls become obsessed, and come up with crazy rituals and performances. The time at the Great Tree is an unfortunate one. Someone must get word to the Band, but who?
I have to say, my favorite part was either the big battle or the part with Madam Plonk. I think that everyone will be happy with this suspenseful and exciting book.
Best Series EVER!!!.......2007-07-13
I own every book in this series and they get better every time! Start with book 1 then go in order because it won't make sense and won't be as good if you don't.
Must read this book.......2007-05-07
Golden tree keeps you locked into the story of all the owls of gahoole. I was so caught up I read the whole book in one day!! The whole series is a must read.
An Amazing Read.......2007-04-27
I read this book, and it was fantastic! The Golden Tree is perhaps one of Mrs. Lasky's best books in the entire Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. The Band finally makes a comeback, and Coryn is getting used to being King. Soren's chicks also hatch, though I was disappointed there wasn't much about them in The Golden Tree.
Coryn and the Band go on a journey to discover whether Nyra is really a hagsfiend, and if Coryn's blood is tainted due to his evil heritage, but end up finding out something totally different and possibly even more dangerous. A dark secret from the past is unearthed, and is in Nyra's clutches. Coryn and the Band need to stop Nyra before it's too late, and an important, beloved character nearly dies, and another character does die. I was practically on the edge of my seat with excitement!
Meanwhile, in Coryn's absence, Otulissa is left to deal with the annoying Whiskered Screech Owl, Gemma, and Elyan the Great Gray Owl. Both have become obsessed with the Ember of Hoole, and many Guardians start to follow them. Eventually, even Otulissa is powerless to stop them, and the Guardians' only hope of alerting Coryn lies in one of the most unlikely of owls.
A character mentioned in Book 1, Bess the Boreal Owl, Grimble's favorite daughter, reappears as the Keeper of the Palace of Mists in The Golden Tree. However, Bess, like Soren's daughters, Pellimore, and Eglantine, also has no dialogue, except for flashbacks.
One of the book's greatest surprises was Madame Plonk's amazing personality transformation, from a spoiled, fat old singer to a warrior gadfeather. There are also hints at new romances, and a brand-new owl kingdom. I can't wait for The River of Wind to come out!
The Golden Tree is a must-read for any fantasy lover!
Fantastic.......2007-02-11
There was a nearly six-month lapse between "To Be a King" and "The Golden Tree," and I was not disappointed by this 12th installment of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series.
A brief summary: The Great Ga'Hoole Tree is glowing gold from the Ember of Hoole's influence, and the Island of Hoole has entered a state of perpetual summer. But after King Coryn and the Band leave the tree, Otulissa soon discovers that all that's gold is not necessarily good. The Ember enthralls the owls of Ga'Hoole, and many of them begin to act strangely, especially Gemma the Whiskered Screech Owl and Elyan the Great Gray Owl. When this strange behavior goes too far, it becomes clear that someone must get word out to the king and the Band.
"The Golden Tree" is suspenseful, and interlaced with the excitement and quality I've long since come to expect of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. Fans of the books will not be disappointed, and the cliffhanger at the end will leave them looking forward to Book 13, "The River of Wind," set for release by July 1st. All in all, a fantastic read!
