Book Description
Australia is one of the few countries in the world generally associated with a single group of plants, namely - the eucalypts.
The genus Eucalyptus includes over 700 species, with almost a third of these occurring in south-eastern Australia in the crescent from the top of Spencer Gulf around to the northern New South Wales border including Tasmania. Nearly three hundred of the known species and subspecies in the area are included in this volume and each is described and illustrated.
In each description the more important features are emphasized by the use of bolder type, and color photographs show the tree or mallee and its bark, buds and fruit. The botanical terms used throughout are explained and illustrated in the introduction and defined in the glossary.
Since the first edition which was published in 1983, many new species have been discovered, and many names changed. In addition, the layout of the book has now been completely updated and reorganized consistent with volumes 2 and 3.
At the head of each digest a summary shows how the species fits into the overall classification of eucalypts. Keys provide a systematic route to identification: there is a separate key for each of the four States covered by the books, plus the Australian Capital Territory. A wide range of characters is used to distinguish between the species.
Field Guide to Eucalyptus Vol 1 is a most valuable and authoritative source of reference for all who are interested in trees - botanists, foresters, naturalists and many others.
Customer Reviews:
Not all you would expect.......2005-08-30
This is the standard Australian text on the identification of eucalypts in the field. The forward forewarns the reader that it is intended for "expert" users.
The trees it described are set out in "Natural order" .
For they lay user this book is virtually impenetrable and I suspect they will find it of little use in the field. The trees appear in apparent random order and the key in the introduction , based on location ,is of little use.
You will need to be completely familiar with the academic classification of trees to a detailed level for this book to be useful.
It is inclined to have the appearance of a dictionary that is not in alphabetic order.

ýHistorical Caulkingý.......2001-07-30
Author Mark Rybczyk describes his book as "historical caulking". This detailed book is at once a tourist's friend and a native's reference. Rybczyk says it was written for the curious native (whatever that is) and secondly for the newly arrived who may wonder "What's so special about San Antonio?" Notice who it was written for first.
Every landmark, legend and myth of San Antonio is here - from the ugliest statue to the histories of the railroad stations. It's a smorgasbord of overlooked and under-appreciated jewels from all over the city. The obligatory shrines and sites are here too - every one of them. Throughout the book's pages Mark employs the rarest type of humor - humor with genuine affection.
Mark corrects the old saw that said San Antonio is "a small town wanting to be a big city." It is, as he says, "A big town that desperately wants to be a small town." With this book as your guide, it's almost as though San Antonio gets its wish.
A must read for anyone who grew up in San Antonio........1999-07-07
If you grew up in San Antonio you will love San Antonio Uncovered. It captures and documents Alamo City folklore, legends, history and talltales unlike any other book I've ever read

Hitler's Overt Genocidal Plans against Jews and Slavs: Early Manifestations.......2007-06-18
This book is also published in the English language under the title: THE VOICE OF DESTRUCTION.
Covering events mostly from the early to the middle 1930's, this book fills an important gap in the development of Hitler's thinking. It comes after MEIN KAMPF (1923-1925) and the then-unpublished HITLER'S SECOND BOOK (1928), but before HITLER'S TABLE TALK.
Rauschning elaborates on Hitler's attitudes towards Poland. It becomes obvious that the Fuhrer never saw the 1934 Polish-German Nonaggression Pact as anything more than a temporary expedient, and that he never seriously considered accepting Poland as an ally against the Soviet Union (p. 119). This adds refutation against the claim that WWII had been triggered, in part, by "Polish intransigence".
A common Nazi anti-Semitic theme is the one about Jews being vermin (presumably fit for nothing other than extermination). Interestingly, Nazis also thought that way of Poles. Albert Forster, the Gauleiter of Danzig (Gdansk), referred to Poles as lice (p. 110). (So did Joseph Goebbels, in his diaries).
Rauschning elaborates on Hitler's obsession with Jews. He believed that it was driven in part by Hitler's fear of his partial Jewish ancestry (p. 235).
In his MEIN KAMPF and SECOND BOOK, Hitler had vilified the Jews, and presented Slavic lands as ones to be conquered for lebensraum purposes and filled with German settlers. But what exactly was to be done with the Jews and the Slavs was left to the imagination of the listener. Not so here! Hitler makes direct threats against both Jews and Slavs as biological entities. He speaks of using both Jewish property and Jewish lives as hostages in response to the anti-German actions of other nations (pp. 88-89). (This foreshadows his infamous January 1939 statement, in which he said that, if "international Jewry" caused another war, he would destroy Europe's Jews in response.) He first speaks of resettling Czechs in Siberia (p. 38) and then, repeatedly complaining about the great fecundity of the Slavic peoples (p. 33, 137), proposes to solve this problem through such measures as keeping men and women separated for years (p. 137). He quips: "There are many ways, systematical and comparatively painless, or at any rate bloodless, of causing undesirable races to die out." (p. 138). (In time, the Nazis did implement both active and passive genocidal techniques against the conquered Slavs, as discussed by Raphael Lemkin. The Nazis also worked to develop mass-sterilization methods, preferably ones that could be used covertly against the intended victims).
In this book, Hitler develops his anti-Christian themes, but not as strongly as in the later HITLER'S TABLE TALK. In this work, Hitler refers to Christianity as an effeminate, Jewish invention (p. 49, 235). He trusts that the dogma of the Vicarious Suffering of Christ will give way to acceptance of the new Leader-legislator, who will liberate the faithful from the burden of free will (p. 225). Hitler also clearly exhibits the views of a moral relativist: "There is no such thing as truth, either in the moral or in the scientific sense." (p. 223).
Nazism is often misrepresented as a form of extreme nationalism. In fact, Hitler believed that the concept of the nation was a political expedient of democracy and Liberalism (p. 232), and was just as outdated as the concept of the dynastic feudal state that it had replaced. He wanted the concept of the nation replaced by "purely biological values". (p. 233).
Nazism is also commonly misrepresented as a form of capitalism. In actuality, Hitler scorned both Communism and capitalism, just as he had done earlier in MEIN KAMPF and the SECOND BOOK. In the present work, he commented: "The classless society of the Marxists, he [Hitler] contended, was madness. Order always meant class order. But the democratic notion of a class order based on the moneybag was equally mad. A genuine aristocracy was not born out of the accidentally successful speculations of bright businessmen." (p. 39).

Book Description
Adolf & Hermann is a non-fiction novel about the early life and times of Adolf Hitler and Hermann Goering, the two men who would eventually become the leaders of the German Third Reich. Part 1 of the story begins in 1900, when Hitler was 12 years old and Goring was 8, and concerns the vicissitudes of their childhoods. Part 2 concerns their exploits in World War I, with Goring serving as an ace fighter pilot over the Western Front, while Hitler served as a lance corporal in an infantry division. Part 3 concerns the first time that both men meet each other and follows them as they plot the overthrow of the German government. The book ends in 1923 the year that Hitler, Goring, and their Nazi Storm Troopers attempt to overthrow the government in the ill-fated Munich Putsch. This action resulted in Goring being injured and Hitler being imprisoned. While in prison at Landsberg, Hitler wrote Mein Kampf, which became the standard work of Nazi political philosophy.

Book Description

Great read.......2005-02-22
This book was accurate and for someone who is intrested and enjoys reading about John Gotti this is a great book for you to read. A little dragged out in some areas such as the Trials but very interesting. I enjoyed reading this book very much, as i believe you will as well
[...].......2005-02-06
as far as i could tell, the book was ok. the best part out of the entire book for me was the pictures but they should of added more. reading some of the chapters were so damn booooring. theye need to get better writers or something. is jerry capeci was the best writer of organized crime how come this book was so boring then? i see other books and then see only half truths and authors twisting the words and stuff. someone needs to write a real book that has the real truth, not making it up or just writing it to get publicity for Gotti's name which i find very sick bcuz the authors glorified and even said in the book in the first pages or so that they and lots or prosecutors and FBI agents and judges and attorneys all became bestsellers and very very successful because of John Gotti's name. I swear. Especially since they glorified in saying that in the book, i find that very disgusting and very low for people like them who are suppose to be professionals, especially gloating from the man who died of cancer. I wouldn;t care if he was osama bin laden, i thought the thing about the authors saying that they became successful because of Gotti's name is disgusting and they're making money because of it. that's very very low. Disgusting. and Spare me about how gotti was a criminal if you were an author writing about him, you wouldn't brag that you became successful because of his name. total lack or professionalism in my view and very disgusting. [...] Some of the stuff that he typed in the first chapters saying that John Gotti blew a basketcase about how his grandson said that he wanted to become a criminal and how he yelled at his grandson for saying that was such a exaggeration because i heard the tapes. Complete and total exaggeration. I guess with books of [...] like these, you have to be really careful about what the author writes because they can exaggerate the truth since this is part of the media thing after all. i give it only one stars cuz the pictures were the most interesting part of the book. Rest of it [...]. It disgust me that people would do anything to make money. I guess the disgusting thing is money makes the world go round.
Not what it seems, BORING.......2004-03-20
When I picked this book up I thought I would get a nice history of Gotti. That was true to some extent but the majority of the book was devoted to the trials. If you are a lawyer or someone who is interested in that sort of thing then this book is for you. If you want a good read then pick up the Capeci book on Gotti, that is top of the line! You can also read this if you are having problems sleeping....
gotti.......2003-04-08
John Gotti started out as a nobody from Queens,New York, who would later become the biggest know name in the mafia today. After he assassinated Paul Castellano, the boss of the Gambino family John started to climb his way up in the mafia life.Through out the book the authors go into great detail about John and the family. John was always a fan of the press and media, he wanted his name to be know to all. That was also exactly what happend. John was the most feared man in New York for most of the 80's and the early 90's. After gettin extreamly popular the FBI and RICO started to fallow him and bug his hidouts and homes. In the mid 90's John and his two main men Sammy and Frankie were arrested and sentenced to life in prison. After that the Gambino family fell apart.
The book Mob Star was thrilling and exciting. After reading the first chapter it was hard not to put this book down. The way the authors go into great detail about what is going on and how it happens, you feel like you were in the same room with john at every moment.Mob Star is a very fast reading book, only because you can not wait to see what John Gotti gets into next.I would recomend this book to anyone who likes the Mafia or just wants to read an excilent book.
