English, and points of interest as well as the flora and fauna of each area are described in detail. This guide gives every Tokyo resident a much-needed and easy-to-follow escape route to the serenity of nature.
Customer Reviews:
Highly recommended for nature lovers!.......1998-07-17
A great little book that makes it easy to wander the best of the countryside around Tokyo. We used an earlier edition that had 25 daytrips around the city and it tells you how to get there, degree of difficulty, and a suggested route along the way. It also provides details on points of historical and natural interest along each walk.
It's great reading ahead of time, along the way, and afterwards.

Book Description
The Falklands War is an ideal showcase for how British policy evolved in the 1970s and 1980s. The background of the dispute is given first and then the events that precipitated the 1982 conflict. An extensive examination of the military aspects of the war is then provided. An overview follows of the many hypotheses offered for the British motivation to recapture the Falklands. The Falklands War did not result in a dramatic shift in British defense policy, but did show the importance of external developments and political realism in policy formation.

very good read.......2005-01-23
I enjoyed this book. I thought it to be very insightful and accurate. A very well though out, pieced together book.
very good.......2005-01-21
As you can read the other review on this site...was obviously written by one of poor education. Dr. Daniel Gibran is an expert on all that he claims to be. The book supplies more then enough information. I am sure this book would be hard to understand, if the reader is uneducated.
Poorly written.......2001-09-13
I have a hard time believing a PHD and Department Head wrote this book. I got the book out of curiosity after hearing Dr. Gibran on TV. The book was unlike any other academic book I've ever read, it would have been a joke at any other college with a real International Relations Department. The poor guy is constantly billing himself as a International Relations expert, a History Expert, a Terrorism Expert, anything he can do to get his face on TV as an "expert" commentator. Save your money, buy Dr. Seuss.

THe Best (and virtually only) Book on the Falklands Air War.......2001-02-18
As a student which has written papers on the Falklands Conflict of 1982, I have found this book to be an invaluable reference. Though written from the British point of view, this book does pretty well in being as unbiased as possible. Its day-by-day accounts are excellent, and the appendicies are excellent also. The only possible downside to this book is the Kill Tables in the back of the book are innacurate when compared to both British and Argentinian sources. But, considering the fact that these numbers were compiled by the authors can explain this.
Chronicle and strategic analysis of Falklands air war........1998-09-29
Ethell and Price present a summation of the air war in and around the Falklands Islands during the 1982 war. The detail is complete, down to a complete chronology, summaries of important missions, details on combat , aircraft losses, successful strikes, and opposing order of battle comparisons. This is a book more aimed at the military buff or military historian. The viewpoint is obviously British, but the authors present well documented information about the actions taken by the Argentinian forces and staff during the conflict.
Beyond the day-to-day action, the most interesting facet of this book is a revelation of the immense strategic effect British air power played in the contest. The embarked air wing sealed off the Argentine garrison, repeatedly drove Argentian aircraft away from support of their own troops, devised tactics to defeat numerically superior forces in spite of very limited resources, controlled the air, and confounded a tottering Argentine military establishment.
The British Navy payed heavily for the Falklands War, the army fought and won a decisive victory, the air arm triumphed.
Facts such as why the air wing guaranteed the Paras win at Goose Greene, and why the bombing raid on the Port Stanley airfield (much derided) produced an unforseen and brilliant strategic succes shed important light on the British triumph.
A must read for those interested in the strategy and tactics of air war.
Excellent........1998-05-22
I was 10 years old when I picked out this book in a grocery store to read on a family road trip; it had a cool picture of a jet on the cover. This book began a long-running fascination with everything military, especially fighters and the Harrier in particular. It is detailed and somewhat technical, but the fact that a 10-year-old was willing to struggle with it speaks volumes for its captivating narrative. Highly recommended should you happen to see this lying around somewhere.

Book Description
An important contribution to the political science and military history literature, this is the first book to present the Argentinean side of the battle for the Malvinas (Falklands) in May 1982. The author, a senior official in the Argentine Air Force who took part in the conflict himself, uses a wealth of documents, including previously unreleased British intelligence data and records of conversations between the top authorities, to construct a comprehensive account of the political and diplomatic aspects of the war, as well as the day-by-day military operations in the South Atlantic. The author begins by examining the facts and circumstances that put Great Britain and Argentina on a collision course, paying particular attention to the points at which war could have been avoided. He goes on to provide a detailed account of events, such as the attempts by the United States to intervene, the deployment of forces, the battle of May 1, the sinking of the cruiser ARA General Belgrano and the subsequent sinking of the British destroyer HMS Sheffield, the battle of San Carlos, the fight for Darwin-Goose Green, the march to Fitz Roy and Mount Kent, and the last stand of Puerto Argentino. In addition to offering a full portrayal of the battles and conflicts themselves, Moro also provides a cogent analysis of the interaction of political and military events in modern conflict, a particularly valuable case study of U.S.-Latin American relations, and a fascinating examination of weapons systems in modern warfare. Moro takes issue with published British reports that treat the war as a discreet event that is now over, arguing that the conflict is not only still alive but also threatens both hemispheric peace and U.S. influence in Latin America.
Customer Reviews:
Appalling.......2003-08-26
A sad and twisted account of an invasion that went awry when the invaded nation decided to fight back. On finishing this book, it is difficult to see how it might have been improved except by, perhaps, not writing it. The author's claims are ludicrous rhetoric, easily falsifiable with even the most cursory glance at the facts. One suspects that the entire work was meant to justify the Air Chief's failures as a commander, besides the obvious politically nationalist angle in a nation that has never really other than toyed with democracy. I predict it will be a best seller in Argentina and not really help educate Argentinians on the realities of the political situation (or the war itself) in any way.
The real story of the war that british will always hide.......2002-01-23
The whole world knows that if it werent because of the type of bombs Argies were using, more than a half, or maybe more of the fleet itself would be in the bottom of the sea right now...
This book tells the real story, the truth about what happened in this war. Argentine forces are not meant to be shown as heroic by Comodoro O. Moro, but they REALLY ARE... why? i'll tell u some facts that make this people really heroic, even if they lost the war: while argentine air force planes faced a highly sofisticated british technology, in land, beside their cannons, argentine anti air artillery made disasters on enemy harriers which were afraid and couldn't destroy, Port Stanley runway of 1,250mts of lenght, while argie fighters/bombers were tired of hitting british frigates of only 120mts lenght. AND THAT IS THE ONLY TRUTH THAT NO ONE CAN DENY.
About the Invincible, i talked with one of the pilots that attacked the ship, and i can affirm that: THE INVINCIBLE WAS ATTACKED because: a turbine was sent from england 2 replace in that aircraft carrier, because it entered port stanley docks by the end of august and it arrived to england on 17th september 1982, because in its external repairs you could see the new paint, because there is a pic of a runway with a bomb impact, because after its arrival to portsmouth it entered in dry docks 2 be repaired on the inside, because it was about 2 be sold 2 australia and they offered the hermes in replace of the invincible.
The book express what the people who fought in that war saw with its own eyes, and u can buy it 2 prove that i'm not wrong and then compare with other british books that lie with their numbers
Give it a try and then make a review from it.
You wont be dissapointed
A Grave Disappointment.......2000-10-09
A glaring gap exists in the historical coverage of the Falklands War. That gap is due to the British monopoly in the writing of this war's history. The reader picks up Moro's book hoping and expecting to find a welcome new perspective, that of Argentina. The hopeful reader is destined to be disappointed, as the book is beset by severe deficiencies that render its value as negligible. The major flaw of this work is its credibility. The accounts presented are an obvious mixture of fact and fantasy that result in even the accurate narrations being cast in doubt. Wild claims of the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible being bombed and severely damaged are a good example, as are claims for British aircraft downed in fantastic numbers. Argentine forces are portrayed as heroic and effective to the extent that the uninformed is liable to believe that Argentina won the war. The reader is left frustrated, as it seems that the British accounts must be tainted with a lack of objectivity on occasion. Ruben Moro, however, does little but thicken the fog of uncertainty. Another disturbing flaw is the style in which the book is written. It is devoid of any objective and academic character, and is consumed by emotive and partisan rhetoric. At times the reader is impressed that he is reading an official history of the Galtieri Junta, published by the Ministry of Information of the time. History is yet to be graced by a serious and dependable Argentinian perspective of this war.

NOT Happy!.......2007-09-23
I was looking forward to reading this book because I had read and heard such positive things about the book and Ms. Wysocki. But well into Chapter Three, Ms. Wysocki was still giving a preface, and assuring the reader she would get to the nuts and bolts of her strategies any minute.
By the time I got into Chapter Three, I saw that the book is so laden with glaring grammatical errors and typographical errors that I began to wonder about the accuracy of the text. Examples: laundry "shoot" and "Suzy" Ormond; "parent's" when the plural was meant; James Clavell's "Nobel House," the spelling of which is repeated in the same paragraph. (It should read "Noble House.") There are one to three such mistakes on almost every page so far.
I made my living as a proofreader and editor for many years. It's tedious work but someone has to do it, and I love it and am very good at it. I still "informally" proofread any book I pick up. There are so many word usage and spelling errors in "Don't Waste Money..." that I can't "read through" them.
If Ms. Wysocki's manuscript is loaded with sound advice and is factually correct, she was done a great disservice by those who readied her book for publication. It's a shame, because her style is appealing and her credentials sound. Perhaps her advice is, too, but I wouldn't know and am probably not going to find out.
I received "America's Cheapest Family" on the same day, and am much more satisfied with it.
If you are in the top 1% income bracket..........2007-09-13
..Then this is the book for you. The author says there are some things you just don't try to save on-'last year's Prada shoes are better than this year's Nine-West', and other important distinctions. She even advises you on how to save money by packaging your own parcels for the Post Office.
For those of us in the other 99%, I think we're looking for more practical advice. To the author- you can save money by cutting your child's hair. There are fantastic videos at the public library that show you how do it.
For me-a wasted inter-library loan (I borrow rather than buy first).
Witty and refreshing!.......2007-01-12
I received this book 2 days ago and have read it cover to cover. It was quite refreshing and NOT the same old frugal tips that you read over and over. Thanks to Lisa I am now over my guilt of returning unwanted or inferior products and I am focusing more on creating that "nest egg." I recommend this book to beginning frugalites as well as those that are well seasoned. The author is quite witty and it is a straight-forward easy read. I'm sure I will refer to it and reread sections to inspire myself when I fall off the frugal wagon.
A quick and fun read.......2006-10-28
The fun little stories gave good solid examples of how Lisa Wysocki came to acquire the knowledge she shares in her book. I found myself laughing out loud to myself on more than one occassion. Although some of the information is the same old advice recycled (only buy the stuff you really need), other information was less "common knowledge." I enjoyed the book, and hope she writes another.
Don't waste time, buy it !!.......2004-07-27
Don't Waste Money, Spend It by Lisa Wysocki is a must read for everyone! It's an easy to read, smart and witty guide to spending money wisely. It is filled with sound advice on building the all-important nest egg. Ms. Wysocki's step by step approach will make the most ardent spendthrift repent.
Through her many tips and anecdotes, I feel empowered as a consumer. I will no longer cower and accept inferior service or merchandise. I will continue to use this invaluable book as a reference to help me reduce waste and fight for my rights and my money.
