As Reported to Me.......2007-10-05
I purchased this volume, unread, as a gift. Therefore, I cannot offer first-hand testimony (hence, my four stars). The recipient, however, vouches for its accuracy and usefulness.
Fantastic Resource!.......2007-09-12
My wife and I wanted to travel with our Newfoundland dog. No small feat! I read the reviews of this book and decided to try it for myself. I have just returned from 8 days in Kennebunk, Kittery, Bar Harbr ME and Newport RI. The suggested places to stay were teriffic. Clean, roomy enough and very very hospitable. The places to eat and go were also uniformly great! While these were not 5 star resorts, the owners get 5 stars for opening their places to a gateful family! GET THIS BOOK!
A great all-around travel guide for the dog owner.......2007-01-20
Dog-Friendly New England is a well-organized travel guide for those of us who can't think of travelling without our dog. The book is organized by region,
and each region is rated for its "dog-friendliness."
This book is fun to read when you're just trying to plan a New England trip.
It offers just the right amount of information, with capsule reviews of lodging establishments, restaurants, and attractions. You can probably plan your whole trip to New England based on the recommendations in this book.
Awesome.......2007-01-02

Go Mr. Hayes.......2005-09-11
These are incredible stories! My brother and I grew up learning Latin on them and still tell the stories to each other. They are creative, historical, and very entertaining. You don't want to miss out! Simia Duce!
Simia Duce.......2005-04-24
As a young Latin student who grew up on the pre-published version of these tales, I can highly recommend them. Pilosus and his tricks make perfect fodder for beginning Latin students of all ages, and references to works of classical literature help introduce the reader to a wider variety of ancient texts. As soon as I start teaching Latin, I will most definitely be using Pilosus as my guide!
Book Description
A learn to think book for children ages 2-9 on vital safety issues. There are 12 different adventures and at the end of each adventure there are 3 choices with lift up tabs. Only one of them being correct and under that tab it has the main character "Into" saying "wise choice".
Customer Reviews:
Insight into Into........2000-10-12
I thouroughly enjoyed Into's Adventures, because it deals with a topic that is important to most parents and yet not easily broached. This little gem of a book helps parents explain dangers to children without scaring them. It also provides a practicle application method that is not only interactive but educational, and simple. Children (like most of us) learn better by doing than by just hearing, this book teaches the appropriate lessons beautifully. I find that children also get a great deal of satisfaction from accomplishment, and this book gives them an opportunity to not only develope their skills, but also to derive a sense of satisfaction from learning. I only wish that such a book had been available to me when I was a young mother of four boys, but now as a grandmother, I find this book invaluable. I commend the author for having the foresight to write a book that is truly of value and useful for parents and fun and educational for children. My hat is off to Ms. Hayes. A Satisfied Reader

Into Childrens Safety? Keep Reading..........2000-10-10
My four year old son and I enjoy books---A Lot! It takes a really good one however to keep him interested. So you can imagine how happy I am to say that not only is Into's Adventures in Safety well written, but also a book that any child will love reading again and again. It contains information dealing with safety issues which are vital to discuss with young children. This book presents each of its important "lessons" in a way that allows the child to make the "wisest choice" regarding the situation. Each "adventure" contains three lift tabs with corresponding choices. If your child chooses correctly, he or she is rewarded with a smiling "Into" bunny saying "Wise Choice". Repetition is said to be the mother of retention and both you and your child will benefit by reading this long overdue book together. Enjoy.

Customer Reviews:
Cute, but not entirely wholesome.......2006-09-02
My 6-year-old enjoyed this book, and overall it's not bad, but I do take exception to a few points:
*One of the protagonists, Uncle Tooth, smokes a pipe. Not only does it show this, the text mentions him puffing on it. Having a tobacco product or a tobacco-related item shown in a positive light in a children's book doesn't seem appropriate to me.
*Another character--a good guy--is mentioned to be smoking a cigar.
*The two main characters enter a pool hall where it is shown and mentioned that some men are drinking beer.
*The bad guy carries a gun, which is shown (but not used).
*The language between some of the main characters is a little harsh. For example, when an older woman thinks she's seen a ghost, her brother, a protagonist, says, "Don't be a fool."
The overall moral message of the story is good, and it's a story kids will enjoy, but if I had known about these other points, I wouldn't have bought this book. It shows a severe lack of judgment both from the author and the publisher.
Kevin's Review of The Mystery of the Pirate Ghost.......2003-03-12
I've loved this book I've been a little kid, sitting in my bed, dreaming of being a pirate of some form or fashion. This is a children's book meant for a mixed audience. This book packs in an adventure big enough to be enjoyable even for an adult who wouldn't be uncomfortable with such a book in his or her hands. The book maintains a set line of humor throughout so one doesn't have to worry about being too frightened by the "Pirate Ghost". The writing style is interesting enough, and the humorous pictures are very satisfying to look at with this pleasant tale of a pirate mystery.
The Mystery of the Pirate Ghost.......2002-10-28
This book I thought was great. I would recommend this book to any kid that has a good imagination and that wants to know everything. This book would be great for kid imagination and would get it going because the book keeps you going until the end where it finally shows you the culprit. Let me tell you some about the book without ruining it for you. It's about this kid named Otto that has an uncle that has been around a lot and has been on lots of trips and adventures. Now this "ghost" has been on the run after stealing things from Boogle Bay. They had a plan to catch the ghost as they think it is but the play fails. After a bit they end up having another plan using a trumpet that uncle Tooth had given to Otto. To find out what happens next be sure to read this book its great. I thought it had good pictures and well written for kids.

Delightful mystery for young readers.......2001-04-21
This story was my young child's first introduction to mysteries, and I haven't stopped reading it yet. It captured his interest quickly and kept him spellbound until the very end when the mystery is solved (with no violence or explosive action scenes). He still requests it, even though he knows the outcome, because he loves both the story and the charming characters. We plan to purchase the remaining Otto and Uncle Tooth books soon and hope they are as entertaining as this one.

Forever mine.......2001-01-15
We first borrowed this book from the library. My son wanted it read again and again and refused to let me return it to the library. Therefore I have had to buy it for him as it really is his favourite book. He really feels for the bear left alone in the park and it is just scary enough both in text and pictures. The bear is worried, hopeful, brave, scared, assertive, patient, sorrowful, happy, tired and loved all in 24 wonderfully illustrated pages. There is an element of adventure that is present in this book and the other two titles - This is the Bear and This is the Bear and the Picnic Lunch. I would thoroughly recommend all three.
A sweet delight.......1999-12-08
My three and four year olds love this story about the night time adventure of one forgotten teddy bear. It has just the right amount of tension, (provided in the form of an owl swooping down to take the teddy bear on an unexpected ride), and resolution (the bear is rescued by a stranger, taken home and then brought back to the park). Getting left behind in the park is something these little ones can easily relate to, and I appreciated both the illustrations and the sweet rhymes that move the story along (without nonsense words). One of their favorites.
