Book Description
Australian aboriginal lawyer, human rights activist, and human shield recounts the raw story of life in Iraq under American military occupation, and during the invasion itself. From Mid-February to late April 2003, here's both an eyewitness account, and how Gillespie had to outwit both Saddam Hussein's regime, and the American occupying forces to bring this story from inside Iraq. Copiously illustrated with the author's own photographs.

Customer Reviews:
GOOD, but could be improved a lot...........2007-06-08
Ive bought this book to prepare my trip to indo. The info is pretty good for surfspots, very sharp and clear, also the Lingo section is really good. The only critics could that there are too much ads and coupons, and design has been not taken care at all.
Fantastic Help.......2002-04-01
Just got back from my first Bali trip and this book was a fantastic help. It is a rare thing when everything you read in a book is true - but everything was exactly the way the book said it would be. From the surf line-ups, breaks, crowds, tide influences, people, food recommendations, language - everything! Plus the free beer vouchers were a great bonus, worth far more than the book cost! Peter Neely has done a great job cramming so much info into the book, and all of it was spot on! I can't thank him enough. Maybe one day I'll bump into him in Indo somewhere - I'd love to buy the guy a beer! Hey, if you're a surfer going to Bali, you'd be mad not to get this book.

Really good info if you are first timer to indo.......1999-07-13
This book will show you places in indo that would take you months to find yourself and the phrase section will really help you in your travels. It is only a small book so it travels light and it also has pictures [ some not so recent,Peter.] of the surf spots you will find around the place. Just a great travel book, even if only used for dreaming.
Surfing aside, this is a novel approach to Indonesan languag.......1998-04-20
I do not pretend to be a surfer. I am a linguist,a tour leader and a teacher of Indonesian Language. This book was offered to me for an opinion and it was with a degree of skepticism that I started. The author has the most novel and downright sensible approach to teaching the language as it applies to surfers and short-time tourists. Instead of labouring with a vocabulary that is totally useless for the tourist, it hones right in on the very things that Indonesians will want to talk about and the things you will want to be able to say. I have taught many people to speak Indonesian (and many Indonesians to speak English too) but getting the acccent right is so hard! Not with Mr Neely's approach...at last the speaker sounds somewhat Indonesian ! As tour leaders to "Bali and Beyond" this book is now recommended to our clients by us. Well Done, Peter Neely ! What the Surf Mags say about Indo Surf and Lingo:.......2007-04-20
Tracks mag wrote:
"The best advice I was given when travelling to Indo for the first time was "Buy Indo Surf and Lingo". Its the quintessential Indo surf guide, providing all the knowledge needed for a hassle-free, surf-rich tour. It's definitely Indonesia's most comprehensive and up-to-date surfing guidebook, updated every 6 months unlike the other guides that followed. It's an amazing book of wisdom with fantastic photos that's helped countless travellers on their Indo sojourns. Every known wave in Bali is mentioned with a chart unique to Indo Surf & Lingo that lets you know exactly where to go on every swell size and wind direction. There are also pointers to surf in the outer islands, with a great selection of invaluable travel tips and local idiosyncrasies to make your search easier. The best attribute in my view is the Indonesian language section. There's nothing better than being able to communicate in a foreign country. It will earn you respect with the locals and ultimately get you closer to the culture, and - the tube! This book is as important as your sunscreen, surfboard and reef booties if you are travelling to Indo this year! "

Magic Wave Mag Bali wrote:
"If surfing is your religion, never travel without your Bible." First published in 1992, Indo Surf & Lingo has long been considered "the Bible" for surfers coming to and surfing in Indonesia. It was the first surfing guidebook to be published on Indonesia, and is the most frequently updated. If you have any doubts about what a bargain the book is for its surf information alone, just take a look inside and check out the over $200 worth of discounts available at restaurants, hotels, surf trips, etc. Your payback is immediate!!! What a deal. If you need to know anything like what spots break on which tides, where you should go on your next surf mission, or how to say "where are the waves" in Indonesian, don't leave your hotel room without this book"
Surfermag Travel Forum wrote:

Book Description
This inviting book offers the first comprehensive survey of French genre painting of the eighteenth century, from Watteau's fêtes galantes to Boilly's paintings of modern Parisian life. Showcasing 113 works, the book illustrates the variety and the vitality of genre painting throughout the period. Leading English, German, French, and American scholars shed light on the development of genre painting, its interpretation, its collectors, and its enormous appeal. Here are gathered together masterpieces by such eminent artists as Watteau, Lancret, de Troy, Chardin, Boucher, Greuze, Fragonard, Robert, and Boilly. The wide range of their featured works encompasses military scenes, theatrical subjects, hunt pictures, pastorals, domestic life, moral pictures, fishwife subjects, paintings for the boudoir, and panoramas of the Enlightenment in landscapes and townscapes. Each work is thoroughly catalogued, and an appendix lists all genre paintings shown in the eighteenth-century Salons.

I can't think of much to say about the book, I only got a quick preview of it today at college, but what I can say is that the work is set out so everybody can understand it. Fragonard's work is so lively and I'm glad that somebody got all his work together in a book! Cheerz!

drawings of Fragonard.......2007-09-02
the book this good for its price and size, but I had liked that had but landscapes and the illustrations to color that he has in the the technique of three crayones. and the impression is something clear, without force, but as I love everything what has to do with this artist, I am very contented
