Book Description
Turkmenistan is one of the few countries of any size left on the globe which is not the subject of a dedicated travel guide in English (major competitors cover Central Asia as a region). Yet, lying as it does at the heart of the Silk Road route, it is a historically and culturally rich land. Travelers can gain insight into the heritage with the clear itineraries supplied of the major archaeological sites of Merv and Konye Urgench and coverage of Turkmen pilgrimage shrines. For travelers looking to explore further afield, this guide spans the whole country comprehensively, including little-known sites such as the Yangakala canyon and the flaming crater at Darvaza. Turkmenistan is currently one of the safest countries in the Central Asia region, particularly where personal safety is concerned.
Features include:
>Information catering to all travelers: businesspeople, volunteer workers, archaeologists, and intrepid adventurers
>Silk Road archaeological treasures, ex-Soviet era relics, and post-independence monuments
>Horse trekking, how to buy Turkmen carpets, and other activities
>Paperwork, visas, and how to surmount red tape
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful travelguide with witty comments.......2007-01-30
Mr. Brummell's travelguide to Turkmenistan provides not only accurate practical information, but also interesting and extensive background information. His observations and comments are witty and very funny. The guidebook is an indispensable companion for travellers to this fascinating country, but definitely also makes interesting reading for arm-chair travellers.

The Best Book of Pirates (The Best Book of)
ASIN: 0822508443 |
Book Description
Ahoy me hearties! So you're thinking of running away to experience life on a gorgeous pirate galleon. Well, before you go be warned - a pirate's life isn't all fish and chips and treasure troves.
From parrot droppings to woodworm in the wooden leg, a life on the ocean wave wasn't all, plain sailing, you know. For starters there were the disease-ridden ships and the disgusting food. Not to mention all the other pirates out there just itching to try out their latest tortures.
John Farman leaves no stone unturned in this uproariously funny study of the rather unsavoury characters who terrorize the high seas.
Customer Reviews:
the short and bloody history of pirates.......2004-09-11
I think the book was ace! The illustrations are fun, funny and eye-catching (humarous). I love the chapter "the pick of the bunch" It's really funny! And for some reason I fell in love with the picture of Mary with her pistols and curlers and nighty on board the ship! And the one of Bartholomew Roberts. This book is recommended for people who are interested in pirates, who like comedy, actually to tell the truth, it's recommened for everyone! This book is a 100% definate MUST!!!
Customer Reviews:
Not appropriate for children under 15 years of age.......2006-01-06
This book is a humorous, fact-filled summary of knights, spies, and pirates. It includes cartoon illustrations of many of the facts and anecdotes described in the text. Many of the same facts and anecdotes, however, describe gory or grisly events (as an example, see the description of warfare and sieges during the Crusades) which makes it wholly inappropriate for junior teens. Older teens and adults should find it fun reading, as long as they're not too squeamish!
Great for Children of all ages.......2005-12-15
A wonderful book written with a Jr. High aged kid in mind. However, it is still a delight to read as an adult (I think I had more fun than a teenager would) It is written with a wit and humor that anyone can enjoy. This book gives historical information in a fun, "forget I'm learning" sort of way. I reccomend it for anyone and everyone.

A Great Book for Car Drawing Tutorial ..........2007-09-25
I find it that this book covers most of aspects you need to know to draw cars "properly". I recommend this book for anyone wishing to learn or hone their skills on car drawings, because it is quite difficult to understand such thing for some people like me :D
My 11 y/o loves it.......2007-07-17
My 11 y/o son is into drawing and into cars, so naturaly he started drawing cars, but he needed some help. I for one don't know what to do (not an artist), so I got this book for him, and so far the drawings he brings me are soooo much better. They are as good as the ones in the book, but it sure did give him a few pointers here and there. He loves looking at the tips, and hints in the book. All in all it made a difference to his drawings.
good for rendering.......2006-03-16
This wasn't so great at how to draw cars, but there is a lot of good stuff on how to render them realistically, which is why i bought it.

Great instructions for great pictures.......2005-06-29
I stopped my artistic development at stick figures and my children (ages 5 and 7) aren't much better. But, they want to draw different things. This series is great -- it is simple to follow and the results are great. I highly recommend this book as well as other books in the How to Draw series.

Well Done!!.......2003-07-16
Well written and incredible drawings. Anybody who likes to move around in something with a motor will love this book. Of course most kids who love cars grow up into adults who love cars. I enjoyed this book as much as my 13 year old son.
Excellent!.......2003-07-16
This is a great little book. Like a lot of guys, I love fast cars and this book was a pleasure to read and study with. Lots of practice and my techniques have improved greatly. This book is well worth the modest cover price.
i wish i could give it zero stars!!.......2001-09-13
Just with all of Hart's books this book cover is misleading. You look at the cover and think I'm really going to learn something and you read the book and get disappointed. He only shows the finnished step.He doesn't show the steps on how to get to the finnished step.Instead of describing how he draws it he gives you a history on each car.I'm sorry but telling a person the car history doesn't show them how to draw the car.I'm starting to think that Hart's books aren't very good.

I had to buy two copies!.......2007-01-18
The minute this book arrived and I saw how great it was I realized that I would need to give it as a gift to a designer friend. Then I needed to order another copy to keep for myself. If you are a designer, want to draw cars, or are just a fan of Hot Wheels cars, Scott Robertson's book is a wonderful insight into the world of unlimited transportation imagination. Kids of ALL AGES would love this book!
excellent for process and product.......2006-11-10
Scott does an excellent job showing both process and his own work. Use his designs and renderings for reference and inspiration, then raid his process to make your own work.
Fun book with excellent explanations.......2006-03-05
There is one aspect of this book that makes it extra valuable: Scott Robertson. Not only is he a master in perspective drawing. What makes Scott stand out is his ability to explain this in simple exercises and make you want to practise and understand. The simple texts and exercises are given a nice touch with excellent corresponding drawings. Great value for money.

It's a great beginning drawing book for 4 to 6 year olds........1999-07-10
We got this book for our 5-year-old grandson and he absolutely loved it. It's a very simple book, with only five different cars and four different trucks to draw. Each one is easy and yet the finished drawings look very much like real cars and trucks. For each vehicle, the author also adds suggestions at the bottom of the page for ways to add special features to the drawing. Our grandson spent countless hours drawing each vehicle over and over again.
