All children want reassurance that their parents' love runs wide and deep. In Guess How Much I Love You, a young rabbit named Little Nutbrown Hare thinks he's found a way to measure the boundaries of love. In a heartwarming twist on the "I-can-do-anything-you-can-do-better" theme, Little Nutbrown Hare goes through a series of declarations regarding the breadth of his love for Big Nutbrown Hare. But even when his feelings stretch as long as his arms, or as high as his hops, Little Nutbrown Hare is fondly one-upped by the elder rabbit's more expansive love.
Anita Jeram's illustrations are bound to elicit an "aw" from even the sternest of readers; these loving rabbits are expressive, endearing, and never cloying. In turn, Sam McBratney tells a simple bedtime story of sweet familial love with humor, insight, and a delightful surprise at the end. Children and parents will love snuggling up for this one--a treat to be read again and again, just before the lights are turned out. (Click to see a sample spread. Text © 1994 by Sam McBratney. For new baby.......2007-09-22
The first time I heard of this book was in my childbirth class. I loved it so much I had to buy it. I'm hoping it will become one of my baby's favorite books.
Good all-around baby book.......2007-09-19
I bought this baby book based on the reviews and the fact that Guess How Much I Love You is one of my favorite children's books. The book does a nice job of asking enough questions to make a complete record for your baby without being overly burdensome. Some of the other books I looked at seriously asked what the weather was on the day you found out your were pregnant. Seriously, who would care about that? This baby book also gives great suggestions for a few pictures which is helpful--like the place to put a picture of you pregnant. I am very pleased.
Don't Like the Message.......2007-09-15
I know many people love this book. I don't know why. We received one as a gift, and after reading it to my daughter, I was disturbed by the story. I felt sorry for the bunny whose parent invalidated his expression of love on each page. As many other reviewers said, it was a competition the adult wouldn't let the child win. This book contains a mean-spirited, misguided, sad, and disturbing message.
Family favorite.......2007-08-01
"Guess how much I love you" is a classic. The story is a simple dialog between a big rabbit (the parent) and a little rabbit (the baby), each professing and comparing the depth & "height" of their love for each other. We read this book almost every day to our infant daughter. She loves the watercolor illustrations & coos at the pictures. A lovely addition to a kid' book collection.
Wonderful - this really is a very good book.......2007-07-24
This is a fabulous book for little children and the grownups who read to them. When children are read to daily, they learn to love reading. Perfect bedtime stories, to calm everyone down and make us ready for sweet dreams. If you can find the LARGE size book get it- they're fabulous keepsakes. Perfect gifts for any child, and a perfect tradition in your own home and family!
Book Description
Candidates for the CISSP exam can now go directly to the source for study materials that are indispensable in achieving certification. The Official (ISC)2 Guide to the CISSP Exam is derived from the actual CBK review course created and administered by the non-profit security consortium (ISC)2. In addition to being an invaluable study guide, this book is detailed enough to serve as an authoritative information security resource. Both of the guide's co-authors are CISSPs, and the entire text has been reviewed and approved by Hal Tipton, Co-Founder and Past President of ISSA and Co-Founder of (ISC)2. The ten subject areas included, each a section from the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), have been reviewed by multiple CISSPs, all of whom are recognized leaders in their fields. A CISSP certification garners significant respect, signifying that the recipient has demonstrated a higher standard of knowledge, proficiency, and ethics. This book ensures that a student is fully prepared to face the exam's rigorous criteria. It is crafted to match the overall theme of the exam, which emphasizes a general, solutions-oriented knowledge of security that organizations want.
Customer Reviews:
CISSP test.......2007-08-03
The study guide is fine for experienced professionals. More like a reference encyclopedia. If a beginner use the Shon Harris book.
I studied with an online course and this book. The book actually explained area's that were vague on online.
Overall a good reference to keep around after the test.
Very in depth but very dry.......2007-05-07
A very good in depth guide, but very dry and hard to read as a result. I recommend the Shon Harris book in lieu of this as it will keep your attention much longer.
Not quite everything you need to know to receive the CISSP certification,.......2007-03-07
This is a complete guide to passing the CISSP exam. It's mostly well written, handsome, and despite its bulk, I found it easier to carry around that the usual computer guide.
My beef is with the accreditation itself. Too much of the (ISC)2 required body of knowledge presented here is either out-of-date, irrelevant, naive, silly, or wrong.
For example, in the physical security chapter, security professionals are advised to encourage notebook PC users to avoid carrying their notebooks in computer cases because that will tip off potential thieves. That's just plain silly advice, at least in everyday life. I might follow advice like that if I were to visit a particularly dangerous city like Rio or Johannesburg, but a typical North American or European city, forget it.
In the chapter dealing with legal aspects of security, the author states that software piracy is just like the theft of a book from a bookstore. No, it isn't. Intellectual property is not a settled area of law and is continually changing. I'm not saying (ISC)2 should advocate software piracy but neither should they go around making definite statements about something that is still not well understood.
In the chapter on networking, much is made of the "ping-of-death" attack. Well, the ping of death is ten years out of date. It makes as much sense to study that for the CISSP exam as to study Token Ring over coax cabling for the MSCE exam: it's irrelevant.
So, if you are required to pass the CISSP certification get this book. If you want to learn about security, then my advice is to read up on UNIX system administration, subscribe to magazines like SysAdmin, and then read up on Windows and on other topics, and above all take every opportunity at work to think about security at your job. To be a generalist, the best thing is to learn from many different sources.
Vincent Poirier, Tokyo
Afterword: I underwent the exam last March and passed. I can't talk about the exam's content (as part of the agreement one signs upon taking the exam) but I will make one positive comment: the questions were more relevant and less naive than the study material had led me to expect.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thanks for your great help, I have a very good text book for my study.
Thanks for your efficient and reliable service too,

One of two "must own" resources if you plan to take the CISSP exam.......2007-01-06
This book, and Shon Harris 3rd Edition (I also read Krutz) are must-have resources for CISSP exam preparation. If you can digest the whole thing, they may be the only books you need, though real life experience is a prerequisite as well. This ISC2 "Official Guide is pretty dry, I'm not going to lie, but it's critical that you work your way through it if you want that coveted "Congratulations" e-Mail from ISC2. I recently climbed the mountain successfully (first try even!) and this book was a key in my success. Spend the money, bite the bullet and dive in. Good luck!

"Psychopaths are social predators who charm, manipulate, and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations, and empty wallets. Completely lacking in conscience and in feelings for others, they selfishly take what they want and do as they please..." In Without Conscience Robert Hare argues convincingly that "psychopath" and "antisocial personality disorder" (a psychiatric term defined by a cluster of criminal behaviors) are not the same thing. Not all psychopaths are criminals, he says, and not all criminals are psychopaths. He proposes a psychopathy checklist that includes emotional/interpersonal traits such as glibness, grandiosity, lack of guilt, and shallow emotions, as well as social deviance traits such as impulsiveness, lack of responsibility, and antisocial behavior. His writing is lucid and illustrated with numerous anecdotes. The final chapter, "A Survival Guide," is especially recommended: as Hare writes, "Psychopaths are found in every segment of society, and there is a good chance that eventually you will have a painful or humiliating encounter with one."
Book Description
Most people are both repelled and intrigued by the images of cold-blooded, conscienceless murderers that increasingly populate our movies, television programs, and newspaper headlines. With their flagrant criminal violation of society's rules, serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy are among the most dramatic examples of the psychopath. Individuals with this personality disorder are fully aware of the consequences of their actions and know the difference between right and wrong, yet they are terrifyingly self-centered, remorseless, and unable to care about the feelings of others. Perhaps most frightening, they often seem completely normal to unsuspecting targets--and they do not always ply their trade by killing. Presenting a compelling portrait of these dangerous men and women based on 25 years of distinguished scientific research, Dr. Robert D. Hare vividly describes a world of con artists, hustlers, rapists, and other predators who charm, lie, and manipulate their way through life. Are psychopaths mad, or simply bad? How can they be recognized? And how can we protect ourselves? This book provides solid information and surprising insights for anyone seeking to understand this devastating condition.
Customer Reviews:
Always be wary of others and go with your inital gut feeling.......2007-10-06
Lets face it, our society is becoming more and more violent. This is a fact, there is no way around it. Just look at the news or paper day to day to see crime and the nature of such crime. Violence is inherent and pervasive and is becoming more a norm than an an acception. Some blame the water, some the T.V. and cinematic violence. For some it is the eroding family structure and the preponderance of latch key kids and unsupervised, unbridled freedom children now have with free access to violent imagery, sexual content and news reports glorifying horrible criminality so pervasive in our instant access culture that restriction of said images are met with agitation and belligerence from our children and for some, threats of retaliation and violence. What is a parent or person to do?Ultimately the causative factors may remain unknown but what is evident is that more and more we are becoming a society of irrational, highly emotive, violence prone individuals. The capability and inclinational bent toward violence is overwhelming and this all leads to a clinical picture of psychopathology more characterized as psychopathic or the more modern tag of antisocial personality disorder.Hare has given us a good primer to guide us in the recognition of and avoidance of such personalities. His extensive research with known incarcerated psychopaths, analysis of traits, habits, modus operandi as well as skillful recognition of said individuals and tips on how to avoid being ensnared by them are presented in his most popular book.Based on its promotion and his reputation it was obtained and reviewed.I was a little disappointed upon conclusion hoping to gain more insight into this mans life long study but instead came away with some basic guidelines and cautionary rules to follow. As you may surmise, I expected more. However,it is a good starting point for those inexperienced with psychopathy and it outlines cause and effect and recognizing individuals who may possess such traits. For those of us who encounter this type in daily practice it was not the chilling, eye opening book as some reviewers have characterized it. 'Without Conscience' is recommended for the new aquaintance to patients, and others you may meet during life. This book is valid for most of us who need added protection on all levels as society continues to deteriorate into madness, anarchy and survival of the fittest because that is what we are becoming, mark my words. We, as a society need to avail ourselves and prepare for the further inevitable breakdown and increase in violence. This book is only a start and should be read by all along with others this writer will review soon to hopefully prepare us for a most difficult and dangerous future as we deal with the psychopaths among us.
A very good book on psychopath.......2007-09-21
I started to become interest in pathology and personality disorder after I read this book. It is a very interesting and informative book; easy to understand. I enjoy to watch the movies mentioned in this book, which describe various personality disorders and psychopathic people's life in this world. Read the book, watch the movies. A good one.
Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among us...........2007-09-07
This book touches on so many facets of those that appear to "fly just below the radar" of the criminal aspect of what an undiagnosed psychopath's destruction can lead to. Those that are left undiagnosed can live within society and appear to some degree as normal within the confines of their home. Author, Robert D. Hare gives us, from page one, the true insight to the destruction that a psychopathic mind can achieve. When said, "Without Conscience" this is the essence of the psychopath. The one who can say, "I love you" and leave you penniless and heart broken. The lies upon lies to the point that even the psychopath themselves begin to believe what they say. The pattern can sometimes be brought on possibly by a parent who enables the already genetically imbalanced psychopath from a very young age by covering up for their misgivings. Eventually to the point that they believe they can do no wrong. Unfortunately, although the author's book delves into many facets of this altered mind, I believe there is a tremendous amount of research to be done. As the books states, their are many walking among us, that it takes a keen eye and a well studied psychologist to identify the symptoms of the psychopath. Because the psychopath either goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, unfortunately proper treatment is often overlooked. The psychopath, those that go through life without conscience can end up harming themselves by shoving everyone they encounter on a personal level eventually out of their lives or attempt to treat themselves through drug addictions. Most of those without conscience have narcissistic tendencies, with over inflated egos. Their behaviors become more and more abnormal. This book touches on most of the topics I suggest within this review. If nothing else, if you have had an encounter with someone that fits this description the book acts as a therapeutic tool as well as educational.
Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us.......2007-08-13
Someone lent me this book, after reading it, I HAD to have a copy of my own. This is a must read for therapists, substance abuse counselors, probation officers and anyone working with criminal populations. I have already been recommending it to my friends.
Deepen Your Understanding of Psychopathic Behavior.......2007-07-22
Reviews the characteristics of some of the more intense psychopaths in our countries history. Psychologists establish a psychopathic checklist of behaviors. Deepen your understanding of one of the most serious problems in America. Along with "The Sociopath Nextdoor" a must read for those of us needing to understand the behaviour of people with no conscience, guilt or shame. (The people 'missing a chip'. ) Every policeman and law enforcement worker should read these two books. (Helps to tell the bad guys from the good guys and explains why it is so difficult)
Book Description
Let's say you're about to hire somebody for a position in your company. Your corporation wants someone who's fearless, charismatic, and full of new ideas. Candidate X is charming, smart, and has all the right answers to your questions. Problem solved, right? Maybe not.
We'd like to think that if we met someone who was completely without conscience -- someone who was capable of doing anything at all if it served his or her purposes -- we would recognize it. In popular culture, the image of the psychopath is of someone like Hannibal Lecter or the BTK Killer. But in reality, many psychopaths just want money, or power, or fame, or simply a nice car. Where do these psychopaths go? Often, it's to the corporate world.
Researchers Paul Babiak and Robert Hare have long studied psychopaths. Hare, the author of Without Conscience, is a world-renowned expert on psychopathy, and Babiak is an industrial-organizational psychologist. Recently the two came together to study how psychopaths operate in corporations, and the results were surprising. They found that it's exactly the modern, open, more flexible corporate world, in which high risks can equal high profits, that attracts psychopaths. They may enter as rising stars and corporate saviors, but all too soon they're abusing the trust of colleagues, manipulating supervisors, and leaving the workplace in shambles.
Snakes in Suits is a compelling, frightening, and scientifically sound look at exactly how psychopaths work in the corporate environment: what kind of companies attract them, how they negotiate the hiring process, and how they function day by day. You'll learn how they apply their "instinctive" manipulation techniques -- assessing potential targets, controlling influential victims, and abandoning those no longer useful -- to business processes such as hiring, political command and control, and executive succession, all while hiding within the corporate culture. It's a must read for anyone in the business world, because whatever level you're at, you'll learn the subtle warning signs of psychopathic behavior and be able to protect yourself and your company -- before it's too late.
Customer Reviews:
Must-Read for Management and Businesses to function efficiently. .......2007-10-17
Loved the book, it explains how psychpathic personalities can easily get passed interviews with impressive results. How they can dress up their resume and work experience, and how they create divisions and foster conflict within the organization.
If you've ever worked somewhere and wondered just how a deceitful, manipulative, and arrogant coworker or boss succeeded in keeping his job, this book is for you. It's also a great read for anyone new to the work world, or just out of college.
It gives you the knowledge required to identify and protect yourself before you get burned by these remorseless and conscienceless individuals. Highly Reccomended!
An excellent read.......2007-10-02
This is an outstanding book. One of the pieces of advice, however, is not to engage. This is easy if they do not suspect that you are 'on to them'. If they do, then they will up the ante while they try to woo you with a whole lot of sweetners that you dont need. If you ignore these they will then come after you with their friends and continue to harass you. Ignore them again and they will start to bad mouth you in a big way.
new era-Dr. Ken Rabac, Phd-PsyD.......2007-09-10
Robert Hare has introduced a new era in our study of psychopaths by coauthoring a recent book dealing with these malevolent manipulators in daily life. Until this publication, Hare had regarded psychopaths mainly from a criminology perspective. In deference to Hare, recognized by consensus as the foremost authority on the disorder, books like Babiak's had to go out on a limb, or use the term sociopath. We are in a new era with Hare's expanded scope, and a new series of books like Babiak's can be expected. However, his will be regarded as a "ground breaker" and will set the tone for subsequent work. It is brilliantly conceived, written and realized.
A Much-Needed Warning.......2007-06-22
Psychopaths are ruthless, cunning, and conscienceless egotists. They will sell out their own mother in their quest for power. And yet they are loved and admired by many. How can we reconcile this contradiction?
Babiak and Hare demonstrate that psychopaths are masters of adopting a "mask of sanity" (a term coined by Hervey Cleckley in his masterpiece, "The Mask of Sanity"); that is they are extremely effective at impression management. They are con artists who can fool even the experts, donning whatever persona is needed to manipulate their victims.
If you can be of value to the social striving of a subclinical psychopath, you can bet that he will convince you of his good intentions, his honour, his kind nature, etc. But it is a lie. He is simply using you.
"Snakes in Suits" examines psychopaths in the corporate workplace: how to spot them and how to deal with them. But its lessons are applicable to a bigger picture. The moral relativism inherent in our Capitalist system is the perfect opening for opportunistic psychopaths to rise to the top.
And as the authors show, this can never be a good thing. Psychopaths are untalented narcissists who profit only on the work of others. And in a political environment, this can be disastrous. Witness, for example, the historical phenomena of Nazism and Stalinism, systems of government in which psychopaths occupied all positions of authority.
Without a general understanding of the reality of psychopathy, they will continue to operate freely, causing misery and suffering for their victims (more numerous by the day). "Snakes in Suits" should be read along with Lobaczewski's "Political Ponerology" (Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes)), an analysis of systems of government in which psychopaths rule. Both books contain information urgently needed not only by ordinary citizens, but by anyone in a leadership position.
Necessary self-defense for organizations & employees.......2007-03-07
I don't usually recommend books that fall into the "Business," "Popular Psychology" or "Self-help" categories, but I believe this book is a must-read for anyone in business. (Read it before you start any new job, and remember its lessons.)
I'm not a mental health professional or scholar, so I can't say whether the characterization of "psychopath" is accurate; in my understanding, the more accurate term is "sociopath," unless actual physical violence or criminality is involved, but the definition is for those in the field to dispute or determine. Besides, in the absence of conscience, I would guess it's a slippery slope from the one to the other.
What I like most about this book is that it isn't merely focused on case studies, or on the havoc these personalities can wreak on their individual victims. Yes, the Ah-ha! moments when you finally recognize the manipulator and his/her tactics can be comforting, and it's great to finally see through these snakes' distortions of reality. However, the real contribution of this book, I contend, is that it addresses the collateral damage these monsters can do within an organization: crushing overall employee morale, eroding confidence in the company's internal ethics, and ultimately diminishing employee performance and retention of good "talent." (HR professionals, take note.)
I also appreciated that the authors don't give "band-aid" solutions to the victims. In my own case, after reading this book and assessing the damage done me by a snake in my sphere at a corporation I had loved working for, I sadly realized that the time had come to cut my losses and reinvent my professional life elsewhere. If I had read the book earlier on, I might not have fallen prey to his/her reptile tactics in the first place, but at least this book prevented me from rationalizing and deluding myself that goodness would prevail and that I could reverse the damage.
So yes, this book is a useful reference for those in contact with corporate snakes, but it is thankfully not a clichéd working manual. I appreciate that it is able to raise the profound ramifications of allowing these manipulators to spawn in an organization, and that it is analytical enough to go beyond the individual anecdotes to show the broader damage that ignoring or sheltering these creatures can effect.
Lastly, it's a fascinating read.... highly recommended.

Unbelievable quality for almost no cost!.......2007-01-03
This disc contains virtually everything one would want regarding religious texts, including many in the original languages, and would take years (and much money) to assemble on one's own. An amzing deal!
Amazing value, thank you........2006-09-01
Don't even think about it, just buy it. You'll be thrilled. It's essential reading.
Outstanding Value.......2006-02-15
Whether you are a seminary student, spiritual seeker, spiritual leader or otherwise interested in comparative religion, this CD is a "must-buy." The books included on this CD would cost you tens of thousands of dollars to acquire if purchased in paper version and some are difficult or impossible to find otherwise. Much of my religious/spiritual library (acquired over many years at a cost of thousands of dollars) is contained in this CD. And that is just scratching the surface of what is contained on this CD. If you are tethered to one creed or dogma, this compilation will likely overwhelm and perhaps confound you. On the other hand, if you are a serious seeker of truth with the intent and willingness to explore and assimilate/integrate new insights, this CD will provide you with a lifetime of interaction. Plus, you will have access to all future updates. This CD may deliver the greatest and most lasting value of any product sold on Amazon.com.

Adorable Hares.......2007-01-09
I bought this item for my baby nephew to give along with the "Guess How Much I Love You" book and pajamas. It was adorable, soft, and cuddly, and even my brother--a "man's man"--said it was "cute."
Product ShippingReview.......2007-01-06
I would love to review the actual product itself however, I am unable to do so as the product was never delivered. I ordered it as a gift for my sister who lives in Canada. I was assured shipment to Canada was possible. When the product did not arrive after 4 weeks I contacted Amazon. They could not locate the product. They agreed to resend the product. Again after 4 weeks the product did not arrive and Amazon could not locate it. At this Amazon offered to refund the product and I took them up on the offer. This is not a review then but rather a warning about purchasing this product for shipment to an address from a country other than the US.
A precious gift.......2006-03-16
I bought several of these as gifts, for my grandchildren and some friends. Better with the book added to the package. The hares enhance the impact of the story! You will be getting a great gift for anyone you choose to buy for!

Book Description
Alex Cross' family is in terrible danger--at the same time that his new job with the FBI brings him the scariest case of his career. A team of kidnappers has been snatching successful, upstanding men and women right before their families' eyes--possibly to sell them into slavery. Alex's knowledge of the D.C. streets, together with his unique insights into criminal psychology, make this mindbending case one that only he can solve--if he can just get his colleagues to set aside their staid and outdated methods. With unexpected twists and whiplash surprises, this is another brilliantly irresistible novel from America's bestselling suspense writer.

Patterson is always a 5 in my book........2007-07-21
Once again I was very happy with Patterson. He is a masterful story teller.
Great reading.......2007-07-03
Read in order. All Alex Cross novels should be read in order. This one was exciting.
It's OK.......2007-05-31
It's entertaining. The main character, Alex Cross, just has to much focus put on him. He's almost made into a superstar instead of a cop. Too much to be believable. The side stories of his personal life & children seem to be added fluff. The end leaves itself open for continuation. By far, not one of Patterson's best works.
ALEX CROSS FANS (JAMES PATTERSON) "THE BIG BAD WOLF".......2007-04-11
THIS BOOK IS A FANTASTIC PAGE TURNER. ONCE I START AN ALEX CROSS NOVEL. I CAN'T PUT IT DOWN. JAMES PATTERSON IS MY FAVORITE (MALE)AUTHOR. "BIG BAD WOLF" DOES NOT DISAPPOINT YOU, FROM THE FIRST PAGE, YOU ARE CAPTURED. THE SUSPENSE AND STORY LINE KEEP YOU TURNING PAGES UNTILL YOU FINISH THE BOOK OR IT FALLS OUT OF YOUR HAND BECAUSE YOU'VE FALLEN ASLEEP. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

Book Description
The further adventures of talent agency assistant Lizzie Miller as she finally gets some traction on the slippery Hollywood slope
In The Second Assistant, readers across the country found a heroine they loved to love in Lizzie Miller, the smart and witty East Coast girl clinging for dear life to the bottom rung of the Hollywood ladder. But no more coffee runs and sorting thumbtacks by color for Lizzie; sheÂ's been promoted. As first assistant to Scott Wagner, now president of The Agency and one of HollywoodÂ's premiere movers and shakers, sheÂ's making decisions and learning the ins and outs of the business. But unlike the other airhead assistants, sheÂ's not being wooed by the glamour and mystique of Lala Land. At least, thatÂ's what she tells herself. But with a fabulous boyfriend and visions of Harry Winston diamonds and a black AmEx dancing in her head, it is getting harder for Lizzie to keep her pumps firmly on the ground.
In The First Assistant, Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare have again joined forces to take a wry and hilarious look at the wheeling, dealing, schmoozing, and snubbing that make Hollywood the cutthroat capital of the world. Readers are hungry for moreÂand The First Assistant is just the romp into the red-carpet world that they crave.
Customer Reviews:
Nothing spectacular, but entertaining........2007-08-18
This was a quick and easy read, which I welcomed after reading some heavier and more serious books this summer. While this wasn't a groundbreaking novel by any means, it was entertaining and light--perfect for the beach or to occupy some time while traveling.
As others mentioned, some of the plot didn't make any sense (the scene with the Swedish mafia, the boyfriend cat's, etc) or add anything to the novel. I did enjoy the gossipy vibe of the novel and loved the part that obviously poked fun at the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes marriage. It had been a while since I'd read The Second Assistant: A Tale from the Bottom of the Hollywood Ladder and it seemed to draw a little bit of the storyline from the first novel without much explanation.
In the end, it was the literary equivalent of Cheetos--it's yummy and satisfying, but you don't receive any nutrients from it and you don't feel especially full when you're done with it.
Great read!.......2007-06-08
I had read the second assistant when it came it out and thought it was okay but not oustanding. This newest additional far outweighs the first book. Once I started reading it I could barely put it down. If you liked Clare Naylor's Dog Handling then you will like this!
Naylor needs a new editor.......2007-05-30
To me, "The First Assistant" was amusing but irritating in equal measure due to the utterly predictable plot, the unfleshed-out character, Luke, and annoying basic grammar errors such as "Who's phone is this?" Not nearly as good as "The Second Assistant."
amusing chick lit.......2007-05-17
A the Agency, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Miller feels euphoric over her promotion from Second Assistant to First Assistant at The Agency although she does not have to work. Her fiancé is wealthy movie superstar Luke Lloyd, who would gladly let Lizzie spend his money. However, she feels she must make it on her own even though that means at times living below the poverty line.
Currently Luke is on location in the Czech Republic filming a movie with his ex-girlfriend Emanuelle Saix as his costar. Amber Bingham Fox, the person who replaced Lizzie as Second Assistant when she was promoted, is a nasty SOB who plans to do anything to replace the FIRST ASSISTANT ASAP. Finally, Scott Wagner, her boss at the Agency, sends Lizzie to Thailand for three months to work with star teen Emerald Everhart, who has allowed fame to get into her head and turned her into a party hardy child. Worse for her, Luke's housekeeper found her sleeping with a man. Work for Lizzie as THE FIRST ASSISTANT gets just as crazy as when she was THE SECOND ASSISTANT; only this time her personal life has fizzled out while the adventures keep on coming.
This is a fun look "behind the Hollywood curtain" at those who hope to one day walk on a red rug instead of rolling it out for others. Lizzie is at her frazzled best struggling with work and the collapse of her personal life. Although there is little that has not been used before in books including THE SECOND ASSISTANT, fans will enjoy this amusing chick lit continues to go Hollywood (and Thailand).

A good book for the airplane.......2007-05-10
This book is the sequel to The Second Assistant and is equally silly. It was a quick fun read with many Hollywood honchos parodied as over the top characters. It's not a thought provoking or stimulating read, but was great for a few good laughs!

Customer Reviews:
My First and Last Patterson Book.......2007-10-18
This was the first Patterson book I have read, and it will be my last. Life is too short for this stuff. Nothing happens for the first four fifths of the book, and then when it does, it was like: "What was that?" I kept thinking that this is low-grade "James Bond versus the arch- villain". For some reason Patterson inserts a bunch of relationship stuff and "boo-hoo-hoo I can't see my kid because I'm divorced". Many loose ends and a conclusion(?) with no resolution.
Permit me to summarize for you: Bad guy is very bad, he shoots people, escapes, good guy chases, bad guy gets away, bad guy blows other people up, bad guy shoots more people in the head, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I wanted to enjoy this book, buy I really did not like it at all. The unabridged audio book version is horrible with annoying sound effects and distracting music.
If you choose to abuse yourself and read this book, do yourself a favor and borrow it from a library. Or better yet, pick up something written by Tom Clancy.
Big Fan Felt very dissapointed.......2007-09-20
I am big fan of James Patterson. But this book disappointed me so much that this is the first time, I am writing review any book. This book forced me write this review. If you are big fan of James Patterson, please please skip this book. Because this is nothing but big big disappointment. The story takes you to a peak and drop you from 50,000 foot free fall till you hit the rocky ground and felt I have wasted all this time on this stupid book. I am sorry to say this, but it is very true.
Poor Attempt.......2007-07-12
It seems as if the author wrote this while running for a plane at an airport. Short, meaningless chapters, poor pacing, and inferior character development. Does anyone really care what happens to these characters? Not me.
London Bridge Fell Down.......2007-07-08
This book seemed a formulaic labor that Patterson had to get through and be done with. Once he got to the point where Cross was going to capture the criminals he wanted to get, the rest seemed matter of fact. Cross chased these two guys through two previous novels, and this book - where he finally got them - seemed, to me, anti-climactic.
Definitely not his best ...........2007-05-30
I'm a big fan of Patterson's "Alex Cross" series, but this one was just not very good. It was very far-fetched and the ending was like hitting a brick wall. It was also tough to keep up with all the characters that were introduced. It's not the worst book I've read and it does keep you turning the pages ... just don't expect too much, and don't expect to have all your questions answered.
