Perfect.......2007-08-09
My 6 year old has listened to this CD a million times, reading along with the book, and still hasn't gotten tired of it. We even listen to it at bedtime, as it's very soothing and doesn't have a lot of distracting sound effects to startle her as she falls asleep. We couldn't be happier with it, and I plan to purchase other copies as gifts.
Sweet and classic.......2007-06-08
Little Bear is just a sweet, charming little fellow. You wish you could but his personality into every kid that goes to Kindergarden with your child!

Customer Reviews:
Elena's Mom.......2007-03-20
I bought this book along with the Owl At Home for my 22 mo. old who loves for me to read to her. She really enjoys the book and can refer to the story titles that she wants me to read, however, in "The Club" story the words "stupid" and "dummy" are used. I penciled them out and replaced them with "silly". I feel that my 22 mo. old does not needs to learn these word right now. Other then that I recommend this book.
Grasshopper Review.......2005-03-01
I would recommend this book to anyone, both young and old. The grasshopper wants to go on a journey and he finds a road. On this road he encounters many insects different from himself. His meetings are funny and make you want to turn the page to see what he might encounter next. It is easy to read for early readers and is a cute and silly story that makes reading fun.
Stories For Children / Allegories for Adults.......2002-10-09
A grasshopper has six different encounters on his journey through the 57 pages of this book. In the first encounter, "The Club," he meets a group of beetles that enthusiastically rally for "morning," but become rather cross when they discover that the grasshopper loves "afternoon" and "night" too. In the second encounter, "A New House," the grasshopper comes upon a worm that lives in an apple, which suddenly begins to "roll down the road" and smashes "into a hundred pieces." The completely unfazed worm then crawls into "a new house," as if the previous home meant nothing at all. In the third encounter, "The Sweeper," the grasshopper runs into a housefly that is intent on sweeping "until the whole world is clean." In the fourth encounter, "The Voyage," the grasshopper comes in contact with a know-it-all mosquito that insists that the grasshopper use a "little boat" to cross a tiny "puddle" that the grasshopper could easily step over because "it is a rule" and "rules are rules." In the fifth encounter, "Always," the grasshopper, who does "something different every day of his life," meets three butterflies who "do the same thing at the same time each and every day." In the final encounter, "At Evening," the grasshopper comes across two dragonflies "zipping and zooming" around so rapidly that they "do not have time to look at" nature's wonders, as opposed to the grasshopper who is "happy to be walking slowly down the road" taking in everything. A child who has learned to read at age four will be able to handle this at age five and six, but will most likely not comprehend the intended satire and allegory.
Grasshopper on The Road.......2001-06-02
I thought this book was fine. I like the book. This book is a neat book.
Grasshopper on the Road.......2001-05-17
I like the book called Grasshopper on the Road. Grasshopper wants to go on an adventure. He finds a road. He finds one that goes all around town. In his adventure he meets some bugs along the way. I would give it a 4. I like the pictures and story but I didn't like all the dark colors that the illustrator used. Dark colors are gloomy.

"You know, Toad," said Frog with his mouth full, "I think we should stop eating. We will soon be sick." "You are right," said Toad. "Let us eat one last cookie, and then we will stop." Many "last cookies" later, Frog and Toad come up with an ingenious solution to their uncontrolled cookie consumption.
This pair of amphibian pals likes to do everything together, from list making to flower growing to dragon vanquishing. And when Toad bakes cookies one day, the two try to develop willpower together. The Frog and Toad series, including Frog and Toad Are Friends, Frog and Toad All Year, and Days with Frog and Toad, is perfect for new readers. Simple text and charming, frog-hued pictures combined with sensitive, funny, original stories show children what real friendship is all about. This Newbery Honor Book perpetuates and confirms Frog and Toad's status as children's classics. (Ages 4 to 8) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
Frog and Toad are best friends -- they do everything together. When Toad admires the flowers in Frog's garden, Frog gives him seeds to grow a garden of his own. When Toad bakes cookies, Frog helps him eat them. And when both Frog and Toad are scared, they are brave together. From the first enchanting story to the last, these five adventures of two best friends are filled with humor and tender affection.
Customer Reviews:
The Beloved Frog and Toad Together.......2007-08-26
My daughter's nursery is decked out in Frogs, so the discovery of these books made them books we had to consider. They are fun and the illustrations are grest. At eleven months she is too young to read them herself, but we read them to her - and she enjoys them. The stories are simple with a central theme - do good for others, treat your friends with respect, help your firends when they need help, laugh, and aporach life with adventure. These are great virtues to instill in young minds. If the books were made in cardboard stock, Teah would be even more happy with them - as it is she frequently grabs one of them when it's time for her bedtime story - and great bedtime stories they are. By the time she starts to read she will know the stories by heart, but that's ok - fond memeories of bedtime stories like these should help her build a lifelong interest in reading on her own.
Frog and Toad Together.......2007-07-05
The Frog and Toad books were favorites of my daughters when they were young. I often give them to young friends, and was very happy to share them most recently with my two year old grandson
Classic Children's Book.......2007-04-10
Learn the value of friendship with one of the most delightful duos in all of children's storytelling! Perfect bedtime stories or beginner's reading books, kids love the animorphed amphibians and funny adventures. Buy one and you'll have to get them all!

Excellent Series and Book.......2007-02-09
The Frog and Toad series is really wonderful. My daughters, age 4 and 6, really cherish these books and our only complaint is that there are too few of them!

Emily Elizabeth has a big red dog--the biggest, reddest dog on her street, and his name is Clifford. How big is he? He's so big that when he runs after cars, he catches them in his mouth, and his doghouse is bigger than Emily Elizabeth's house. Needless to say, he makes an excellent watchdog. Children love the idea of the things you could do and the fun you could have with a giant dog, and Norman Bridwell's delightful, Clifford-proof board-book edition will not disappoint. (Baby to preschool)
Book Description
Meet Clifford. Get to know him, and see why he's not only Emily Elizabeth's favorite Big Red Dog but America's favorite Big Red Dog in this reissue of a classic title! This is one of eight Clifford classics being reformatted for Summer 2005!
Customer Reviews:
Clifford the Big Red Dog.......2007-09-24
This book is definitely one of the classics of modern literature. The humor is infinitely sharper than that of all other children's literature. The illustrations remind one of the early days of Ted Degrazia. Buy this book and your life will be changed for the better.
Clifford the Big Red Dog .......2007-03-21
I read Cliffrord the Big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell. I liked it and would recommend this book because Clifford does silly things. In the book I read how Clifford runs after the cats at the zoo and digs up the flowers. This helped convice me that it was good book.
Clifford.......2006-08-24
I ordered this book for my 21 month old because she loves to watch Clifford the Big Red Dog on TV and she loves books. She really doesnt pick this book as much as I thought she would. I think because its not really illustrated too good and the people are different than on the TV show.

My six ear old enjoys reading the story while my 3 year old enjoys looking at the picutures again and again.

Playful Pup Persuasively Pounces.......2003-02-27
A boy who is afraid of dogs meets a friendly long-haired barking fellow looking to play. He tells him to go away, but the dog insists on being friends. The dog instantly loves the boy, but the boy isn't so sure.
Your child will learn how dogs are fun to play with, and how some things aren't quite as scary as they might first appear.
The colorful, warm drawings have endured through the years, and will help bring a smile to your face.
I fully recommend "Go Away, Dog."

My "most favorite book".......2002-05-28
I have the original version (1963) and mine has the following inscription written by my mother:
"This was a library book I checked out for Lisa when she was 4 and 1/2 years old. She loved it so much she kept putting off taking it back and one day 'could never find it again'. Later, she told me she hid it and by then I had paid the library for it. Her most favorite book then and for a long time."
I cherish my copy of Go Away Dog and am buying the new version for good friend's baby shower.

The closest SILLY TILLY gets to perfection.......2000-04-24
From the name, this masterpiece of poetic songs may seem childish. What a deception! I may be a bit old for kiddy books, (I'm 47), but I cried the first time I read this book. I was so shocked when it went out of print. I am organizing a strike against those naughty publishers. SILLY TILLY live forever!

This book doesn't make any sense........2007-09-15
I am glad we got this book from a library because now we can give it back. It doesn't make sense. I think they assume that anyone reading the book has seen the movie and can fill in the blanks. But something called a storybook should have a full story.
It starts with a mommy and daddy fish running into a barracuda. On the next page there is only a daddy fish. Obviously, we are supposed to infer that the mommy has been eaten. I guess they thought that saying so would traumatize preschoolers, but you cannot imply things to a preschooler, they won't get it. My four-year-old had no idea what happened. "Where's the mommy fish? Why doesn't it say what happened to the mommy fish?"
It skips back and forth and changes scenes a lot. I have not seen the movie, but I can only guess that they are trying to include references to the best parts, possibly the musical numbers, more than they are trying to follow the plot. Also, the daddy fish is later attacked by sharks then the sharks show up at the end like they're all pals and I have no idea what happened there.
Great adaptation.......2004-01-25
If you're looking for an exact copy of the film, this book is not for you. If you're interested in a folk-art/classic Golden book inspired piece of art this book is definitely for you. Contrary to what a couple of reviewers refer to as substandard illustrations, this book was illustrated by an experienced artist with a great understanding of animation and it saddens me that the Disney company does not give the artist the credit he or she deserves. Like most Disney books, the credit goes to the Disney company not the individual that did the work. My two-year old daughter absolutely loves the movie and she equally enjoys this book. Sure, its a quick read, but we usually read through it a few times in each sitting before we move onto another book. The only complaint I have about this book is it's length. I really would have liked more pages to flip through... just for the artwork.
If you want an exact copy of the film, watch the film. Don't look for it in a book. If you want a simple book to read to your young one and appreciate a nicely illustrated book, give this one a chance. It deserves it.
disappointed.......2003-11-15
Big disappointment. The illustrations are very poor. Nothing like the computer animated graphics in the movie. The characters look like the impressionists version of those in the movie. Bruce the shark is practically unrecognizable, neither is Nemo or Dory. The story is ok, too complicated for a younger child to follow.
Big disappointment.......2003-09-06
Received this book as a gift for our 4-year old son. He hasn't seen the movie (maybe that makes a difference?), but he loves the pictures and the character. Our friend thought she was buying a quality product from Disney, and so did we, until we tried to read it. I am so disappointed! The movie may be better, but this book gives the impression that a couple of people spent half a weekend pasting together a few shots from the movie, then wrote a little descriptive text and called it a day. There are 2 major faults: 1) several scenes from the movie were obviously just described in the book. They make no sense within the plot, they are literally BORING, though the animated scene may have been appropriate. They are too short to build up any sort of suspense, climax, etc.. An example is the jellyfish scene. 2) The story jumps around, from scene to scene. This distracts and confuses my 4-year old, who is used to logical sequences, a beginning, middle and end in his other books. Sorry, Disney, this book is a loser...
Looks nothing like the motion picture........2003-07-07
Saw it on the bookshelf, grabbed it to buy it for my son who really liked the movie, opened it, returned it to the shelf. You don't buy a book like that for the story -- you buy it for the story and the pictures -- it's a book for younger children after all -- and you hope that the pictures will bring back the fond memories of seeing the story on big screen. But this book is so modestly illustrated that it seems totally unrelated to the film. Even the characters look different. All excitement and all that underwater magic are gone. 'Toy Story' -- from the same series of Disney books -- is illustrated much better.

Frogs
Frogs can jump thirty times their own body length, catch insects on the wing, and breathe underwater or on land. But they must always keep their skins wet. Read and find out why!

Colorful illustrations.......2006-10-16
this is a nice series of non-fiction books for preschoolers to improve their vocabulary. All the pages are full of bright colorful illustrations and their is lots of reading and information. This would be a nice series for a 3rd grader to read, maybe fourth grade. One or two paragraphs per page. I often read these to my preschoolers or just look at the pages with the 1 and 2 year olds. Books have held up well.
