This is a rhyming book about the bears in the family and what they do, like sing, lick bowls, and pick plums. It provides a nice review of the names of family relationships. It's not at all scary. It has about 80 words.

My daughter's Favorite book!.......2001-02-05

This has been my daughter's favoite book since she received it as a gift when she was 7 months old. She has stacks and stacks of other baby board book, including all the classics like "Goodnight Moon," and this is always the one she pulls out and wants to hear me read. She seems to love the illustrations, which are whimsical, very colorful and glossy, as well as listening to the sweet story. The fact that the book is a little larger than what seems to be the standard board book size also seems to appeal to her. I highly reccommend this book!

This book is about Clifford the Big Red Dog and how him and his owner Emily Elizabeth go to see Clifford's Family. Clifford had 2 older sibilings and 1 younger sister. There names are Claudia, Nero, and Bonnie. He goes to visit them and see all his family. This book is for children 2-5 years old. Clifford's Family is a good book for beginning readers to start out with.

This book is about the family of Clifford and how they came through for Clifford when he was in trouble. It teaches to love your family and to treat them well. I would say that the age level of this book is around the age of 9 and younger before the child gets into bigger and more interesting books to read. I would say the book was good because it wasn't too long and drawn out and it taught a lesson.

Norman Bridwell's book "Cliford's Family" is a great book about clifords family it tell about his parents and friends. In this book Clifford go all through town an a little advanture. This a great book for kids to read that have a good imagination.

Clifford's Family is a fun book for kids to read when they are just starting to read. It is interesting and exciting. The illustrations are very detailled. The author is Norman Bridwell. I would recamend this book to read to your little brother or sister before thet go to bed!

Good for planning your trip.......2006-01-12

I bought this book while planning an 8-day trip to Crete. I liked that the book had suggested itineraries for 1, 3 and 7 day trips. The 30 pages on Crete were divided into eastern and western Crete - I ended up spending half my trip on each end of the island. Based on the very good descriptions of what each town and region are like and have to offer, I selected sites to visit and was not disappointed. I did end up seeing many of the places identified as Fodor's Choice, and have to agee that those were some of the best cities and sites. I also liked that in the descriptions of each area it mentioned if the place was a particularly touristy place, and was able to avoid those spots. I cannot comment on the listing of restaurants and hotels, as I did not use these. I prefer to look for inns on-line and pick my restaurants when hunger strikes. Overall, I was very happy with the book. The only caveat is that it was too thick to carry around, so I would have liked a book just about Crete and not all of Greece.

Fodor in Decline.......2000-05-22

I just returned from my third trip to Greece, where I took my new copy of Fodor's Greece. Although there is some interesting information in this book, it failed in many areas, from providing sufficient information to find places mentioned in the book, to omitting important information all together. I have traveled Europe since the 70s, always purchasing a guide book, but have never had one that was of so little help, and it is the only one I have thrown away mid trip. Many seasoned travelers agree, and recommend the Lonely Planet guide. I believe Fodor's has lost a lot since earlier days when it was much more helpful.

My wife and I went to Greece this Fall and used this book a lot both before and during the trip. We were in Athens, Mykonos, and Nafplion in the Peloponnese. We found this book very helpful for hotels, restaurants and some of the sites. However, we thought the book should have more maps of the town, like the Independent Traveler and the Rough Guide. We also had Frommer's and we found that there was about 50% overlap in the recommended hotels and restaurants, so having both books was definitely helpful although Fodor's was marginally better than Frommers'. It makes you wonder, though, why Fodor's didn't think Frommers' places were worth including, and vice versa. After all, there aren't that many places to stay in some of these places.

This book was a great asset in the planning of my trip........1999-04-22

This is a great book that I would recommend to anyone who is or would like to go to Greece. This book helped me find everything from when to go to what to do when I got there. I'd like to say thanks to Fodor's. They made the planning of my trip so easy, it was fun!

Traces of racism.......2001-10-25

Gunn and Smith struggled valiantly to shape a collection of 9 biographies of Native American achievers, blending the historical and the personal in a somewhat old-fashioned style of narration that young people will find attractive. The biographical sketches review the life and achievements of Weetamoo, an Indian woman who figured in very early white-Indian skirmishes, Geronimo, Will Rogers, Jim Thorpe, Maria Tallchief, Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Wilma Pearl Mankiller, Michael Naranjo (Vietnam War Veteran), and Louise Erdrich. Yet, this reviewer believes that most libraries will not want to purchase it this book. First of all, the title picks up an egregious lie that appeared in many treaties that were later broken. The authors admit knowing this but used it anyhow. The persons pictured, for the most part, became successful in the white world on white terms. In the story of Jim Thorpe, Gunn and Smith tell of a battle in which 300 Sac and Fox Indians were killed, and include parenthetically a comment by Lincoln that, during his war experience at this time, he "could not remember meeting any enemy except mosquitoes." The authors refer to the disparaging term "blanket Indians," which is very nearly as offensive as the n word to black Americans. They say that Quakers forced an Indian young person to do indoor chores but provide little context. They comment that Senator Campbell made jewelry but never got to the point of selling it for income; also, that he was married in a sleazy wedding chapel. The authors refer, directly or indirectly, to disparaging stereotypes this reviewer has not heard for half a long lifetime: laziness, drunkenness, and unwillingness to embrace reasonable white demands for education, private ownership of land, and relocation to urban areas. They may not have intended to offend, but they have a glaring lack of intuitive sense of what Native American culture is all about today. Add this to the unattractive packaging of the book--black and white portraits, large print, and narrow margins. Schools should reject this collection.
