Daddy's taking us to the
zoo tomorrow,
zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow.
Daddy's taking us to the
zoo tomorrow.
We can stay all day.
Now you can go along too, as Tom Paxton's classic song comes to life in this boisterous picture book. Rhythmic verse leads you through a wild kingdom where animals burst from every page. Monkeys are scritch, scritch, scratchin', and kangaroos are hop, hop, hoppin', making every moment an adventure.
Karen Lee Schmidt's lively, irresistible illustrations show the animals up to all sorts of mischief. And with the easily played melodies included, this musical menagerie is every bit as fun as a trip to the zoo. Youngsters will want to "stay all day" -- and come back again and again!

Great For Reading, Great For Singing!.......2007-05-12
I lov this book and use it every year at story hours for kids ages 2 and up and we have a great time singing and acting out the book. I even sing it with the one year olds--we just act out the animals as we sing the song!
My favorite memories of this book/song are of my then 2 year old daughter singing "Zoo,zoo, zoo!" in the back of the car whenever she wanted us to sing this together!
If you don't know the tune for this, you can find it on the Peter,Paul and Mary album "Peter Paul and Mommy". In fact, if you look it up here at Amazon you can hear a clip of the song. Sadly, the Tom Paxton recording is out of print.
And don't worry about your voice quality--kids just love it when you sing with them!
Recommendations.......2007-04-23
My two year old loves this book. I was hoping to find some other books for my daughter by checking reviews from other readers, but no one had any- so I thought I would recommend Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (another sing songy favorite that we have memorized) and Eric Carle's book about Papa getting the Moon (exact title escapes me). The Carle book is a necessity if your child likes the moon like ours does.
4 Year Old Loves This.......2007-03-30
My 4 year old read this book at her daycare and came home asking for it. It is a great book because it is also a song, very appealing to the 4 year old group and makes it easier for her to remember when she is "reading" the book.
The illustraions are very clever and very cute. A book that parents and children alike can read many times without getting tired.
I highly recommend!
Memorized.......2007-03-10
I've got this book/song memorized now after having read it millions of times. My children and preschool students LOVE this book. I do too. Great song and fun illustrations. Must have for your home and school library.
Our whole family loves this book!.......2006-09-08
As anyone who regularly reads to children can tell you, some kid's books are downright painful. "Going to the Zoo," like a handful of other delightful finds, almost makes up for all of the bad ones. My two-year old and four-year old love this book. My wife and I love reading (singing) it to them as well. The tune is catchy and easy to sing, even for folks who might normally have trouble with such things. The pictures are beautiful and the story engaing. Best of all, there are plenty of true-to-life touches that make the book feel 'real.' You'll be glad, glad, glad you bought a copy.
Book Description
Filbert MacFee is having a lively time in the hospital. When Nurse Skeeter is ready to give him a shot, he turns into a thick-skinned rhinoceros! The moment he sits in an ice-cold wheelchair headed for X-ray, he becomes a penguin. Crafty Nurse Beluga outwits Filbert in all his animal transformations, but good news comes at last-Dr. Kebob! Once he stops being an orangutan, he tells Filbert he is well enough to go home. Rollicking verse, a quirky cast of characters, and Sue Truesdell's inimitably zany drawings turn a hospital stay into a reassuringly comic escapade.

A book filled with outloud chuckles!.......2004-02-05
I have an almost three year old and we found this story at the library and she LOVES it! Our daily storytimes are wonderful and only two days after getting the book, she can predict which animal is next and loves to repeat Nurse Beluga's phrase, "This is a hospital, not a zoo!" Its a great story for adventure and whimsy, even if you do not have a child in the hospital to worry about.
Hospital silliness for your kids.......2002-07-24
A simply wonderful book. Being in a hospital is tough for a child. This book puts a wonderful twist on hospital stays. A well written, wonderfully illustrated book. Highly recommended.

Cute book!.......2007-08-25
We bought this book when we were visiting Honolulu at the recommendation of a friend and my children love it. The illustrations are fun and the text is simple enough for my kids to read. A great memory of our trip to the zoo.
Book Description
Snap! A day at the zoo can be lots of fun when you have a camera to catch the crocs, parrots, zebras, and other wild animals who live there. But what if your big sister is the photographer, and not you? Why, then you've got plenty of time to get into some mischief. But watch out! If you don't behave, the day may end early. Kids will especially enjoy the final picture, in which they have to try to find the feisty lead character.

Luckily, Monkey has really long arms and can reach the zoo keys to unlock the cages. The five friends escape and return to their native lands. With this vividly illustrated novelty picture book, young readers learn about habitats and geography through the postcards the animal friends write and send each other. Four real postcards, found at the end of the book, encourage children to write to their own friends and relatives.

Great, As Always!.......2007-01-16
I am a big fan of Rick Steve's guidebooks so understand my bias. We used this 2006 version in Dec 2006 to find lodging, a few restaurants and many of the walking tours. All information was still up to date and excellent. However, please note that the 2007 version should come out in Jan 2007 or close to that time and will be even more current. Great tips and easy to read information on days and times that sights are open or open late is essential and very helpful in planning the trip.
Good Book.......2006-11-26
Went to London. I wasn't able to see everything, but this helps get you on your way. Going back soon.
Thanks for a great visit.......2006-11-13
Had the opportunity to visit london for a short stay. Book was an imense help on finding a hotel ways to move around.
Rick Steves' London 2006 (Rick Steves' London).......2006-11-03
This book was excellent. I found it very helpful in finding places and in getting background information about the places I wanted to see. I would recommend this book as one that you should purchase when Planning a trip.
An absolute must for your trip.......2006-10-29

A good way to start your trip to Great Britain!.......2007-01-03
Anything produced by Rick Steves is TOPS!!!! This is not one of his most exciting ones but anything done by him, is worth your money. I have a big collection of his travels around the globe.
In my opinion, Rick Steves gives you the best information and the best views of the countries presented.
Rick Steves' Guide Books.......2006-11-04
I believe these are the best tour books published. YOu can easily create an itinerary from day to day, and even have suggestions on places to stay and eat. You can be your own travel agent.
A great guide with only one flaw........2006-05-22
My buddy and I just got back from our trip to the U.K. We used this book almost exclusively and it was a huge help in planning our time. The only flaw is that there is very little info on the eastern portion of the big Island from lower Scotland to Cambridge.
The reason for this omission is clear. There's not much to see in north east England. The problem is that a drive from Edinburg to Cambridge is stretching the limits of time spent in a car, in a foreign country, on the wrong side of the road. This omission left us to our own devices for one night's stay and it wasn't very much fun looking for lodging after eight.
Other than that the book was great. We went through lower left England then up through Whales and Scotland then back down to all the major schools and cities on the lower right. Through everything, Rick Steves got us where we wanted to go and helped us find good food and accomodations.
I'm happy to report that we saw everything we'd hoped to see and discovered quite a few other amazing locations using this book. I'd reccomend it to anyone who is planning a trip to the U.K.
One quick tip. Give yourself plenty of time to read this thing before you go and make reservations for where you'd like to stay the first and last night of your trip. In the middle Rick Steve gives you plenty of good advice about where to stay and what to see and do. Good book, great trip. Happy travels!
Very helpful!.......2006-03-31
Unfortunately, the only well-worn portion of my book is the 'London' section, but the rest will eventually get used! This book was such a great help to me in not only finding a moderately priced hotel (prices...yikes!) but in getting to all the places I wanted to see. The color maps of London and the Tube system up front are easily accessible! If I needed a quick look at a map, they were right up front so I didn't have to dig through the book and stand out as a tourist.
--Vicki Landes, author of "Europe For The Senses - A Photographic Journal"
Rick Steve's Great Britain 2005.......2006-03-25
My husband and I have found this book very helpful, as we planned our trip to England. Mr Steve's narratives are interesting, and often in a younger person's vernacular. His simple maps are fun to look at, but could use some color to highlight intems such as public buildings, especially on maps with a lot of detail. The one drawback that we noted was that there are too few lodging recommendations, which are often booked way in advance (probably because of the author's recommendation), as we found out when trying to book them.

Rick Steves' England 2007.......2007-05-17
A useful guide, particularly for the Southwest. Could use more information about mass transit.
Only for first-time visitors who want to be told exactly what to do........2007-05-07
This book is one person's opinion of what is worth seeing in England; it includes *only* those things, and nothing else. A full 24% of the book is taken up with London. That section includes helpful bus info that most guidebooks don't include, but, oddly, not a tube map so that you can think about connections ahead of time. Also lacking is a single map of the whole of London. Instead, there is a color map in the front of the book of only the most central part of central London, and then multiple small hand-drawn maps of individual areas of London. To figure out how to get from one place to another involves putting together a number of different little maps. In addition to the partial London map, there are maps of Bath and all of England at the beginning of the book; otherwise, all the maps are small and hand-drawn, which I found annoying. As examples of what you *won't* find in this book, there is nothing at all on Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham or Exeter, just to name a few. Personally, I would prefer to pay a few dollars more for a more comprehensive guide.
I will never trust Rick Steves again........2007-04-17
Several years ago, my sister and I traveled to London relying largely on Rick Steves' then-current guide to England. Our problems started with our hotel near Victoria Station, a place Steves had praised to the skies; it turned out to be the worst so-called hotel we had ever seen in our lives, a filthy, unkempt, knocked-together place with SPIKES (not bars) in the windows and a venal staff utterly uninterested in the comfort of the guests. This was only the first of many pieces of bum advice that Mr. Steves gave us through his guide. I will never again trust any travel advice given by Mr. Steves. I would, however, like to know how this self-styled Emperor of Travel makes his way through Europe with no clothes.
Where are the coasts?.......2007-03-09
I was a little disappointed when I received this book. I bought last year's Rick Steve's Great Britain and found that he really skipped a lot of area that I was interested in....so, I bought this one and discovered he basically followed the same path. The first 150 or so pages focus on London. If I wanted a guide on London, I would've bought one. I think Bill Bryson's humorous account (Notes From a Small Island)gave me more of a feel for England.
That said, the book gives LOADS of travel tips and insight that these books are known for.
Great guide for first-timers.......2007-01-04
Neither my wife nor I had been to England before, and we took this as our only guidebook. We stayed in the Southeast (near Dover), the Cotswalds, and in London over the course of a week, and this book had more than enough information and insight for our brief trip. The advice is very candid and straightforward, and I will use it again when I go back. The only caveat is probably that there is not a ton of detailed information about London (Steves has another book for London) in this book, so if that is where you'll do most of your visiting, you might want to pick up a more specific guide.

Customer Reviews:
Great tool, unresponsive support.......2007-10-13
The good: This is a great tool for dealing with Arabic verbs, which are the backbone of any Semitic language, and especially Arabic.
The bad and the ugly: To protect themselves from piracy, the publishers of this software have required activation, and limited each activation code to two computers only. You are supposed to be able to reinstall the software on the same computer multiple times with no problem, and they do provide additional activation codes at no charge for more than two computers, but you have to rely upon them to respond to your e-mail requests for the additional codes, which based on my experience, could be a problem.
Recently I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall the operating system and all software. Now when I try to activate Verb Clinic an error message refuses to activate based on the erroneous claim that I have already activated on two other computers. OK, stuff like that happens, but I have e-mailed the software publisher four times and received exactly zero responses. I am considering telephoning them in Cairo next, and if all else fails, I will be visiting friends in Cairo in March, 2008, and will pay a personal visit to the publisher's office.
Mixed Review.......2007-05-05
I'm writing this review with mixed feelings so please take my comments with the proverbial 'grain of salt.' On the one hand, I was impressed with the format of the software. The Verb Clinic has done an impressive job on putting together a program where the verbs are listed in a clear and precise manner. On the other hand, the first four verbs that I looked up were not to be found: like, live, love, study. This can be a little aggravating when you're using a text-book like Al-Kitab. Also (and here is the 'kicker' for me), the software can only be installed on two computers (the software is 'internet activated with a code so one cannot bypass this restriction). Now I'm really good about complying with copyright laws. If I install software on multiple computers, I make sure that the program is being 'run' on only one of them at a time. Unfortunately, between work, family, and school; I use three computers. Had I known about this restriction, I would not have purchased the software. Worse, when I go to upgrade my machines . . . what then? I'm sure it will probably be an inconvenient process (and not free)? At any rate, please take my comments for what they're worth. Cheers!
A real help!.......2007-02-15
Learning arabic on your own is quite a task. But with proper tools it becomes quite a lot easier. I chose to supplement the Kitaab fi tacallum al-arabiyaa series with the MSA Verb Clinic - and found really good help!
Impressive, and great self-quiz generator.......2006-08-31
I am a fan of the Vocab Clinic/Verb Clinic series, and this one did not disappoint me. There is nothing else I have found anywhere that comes close to this in thoroughness and versatility for learning ALL forms of Arabic verbs. The amount of conjugations is amazing. Look at it, print it, listen to it, record it, export it, write notes on it, autoplay it as you do soemthing else... very cool.
One of the most useful parts is the quiz generator - all kinds of settings for customizing how you want the computer to quiz you.
Also cool is that it is the first in the series to be Mac OS X compatible. I used the others on my PC, but this one on my Mac. :)
