Wrong animal on the last page..........2007-08-12

The last thing I want to do is teach my child the wrong farm animals. For those who don't know the white woolly thing,that says 'baa' is a sheep. The author should have known better, there are only five animals in the book.

There are so many touch- the- animal books.

This one stands apart because of the details. It increases vocabulary (on one page it will say "touch," and on another "stroke," for example) and has interesting but not difficult sentence structure. What I like the best, though, is that unlike most animal books the fur is "growing" in the correct direction! Someone actually took the time to make sure the cow's hair grows up the nose instead of down, a small thing yet important.

It's also on very sturdy pages for repeated enjoyment.

I love that the book allows my child to feel different parts of the animals. The book is very entertaining as well as educational. I just wish the colors were brighter.

This book is really cute. My 16 month old grandson loves to touch the fuzzy and furry animals...this book also holds his attention which is a plus!

Vibrant Colors.......2006-08-21

This was a cute book. It is not one of my favorite but it had bright colors and fun animal pictures. It seems like they spent all of their time on the illustrations and slapped together the words of the story as an after thought. It is a fun book to pet but a bland book to read.

Great book for babies!.......2005-07-07

I just love this series of books! This one is larger than the others, and my daughter loves feeling the fur of the different animals. This is a great book if your baby is really into textures and animals...very cute!

a touch and DO book.......2001-10-26

I liked this books a lot because besides just feeling textures, the reader is invited to do things, like tickle a giraffe, and scratch a head. Lrage, bright animals span each two-page spread. A good choice for babies & toddlers.

Never gets a glance.......2003-10-06

My 2 year old pulls out dozens of books to read every night, but when she gives me this one, I dont even get through the first page before she's bored and looking at something else. She really enjoys the My Busy Day book by the same makers, but this one just doesn't have anything interesting to hold a toddler's attention. I plan to donate it if she doesn't show interest in it soon.

Cute Activity Book.......2003-12-30

With its bright colors and sturdy construction, this book is a favorite for my 9 month-old. The text reinforces the concept of the order of the day (morning, day, night). My son really enjoys watching the characters appear when the tabs are pulled and has started to point to the places where they should be when he wants to see them. This is a great choice for home or the diaper bag!

My 2 year old enjoys the surprises around every rock, hill, and tree when she pulls the flaps. Though they can be difficult to push back in, it's still a favorite. The colors are bold and bright, rhyming is rythmical and sweet.

Nice alternative to lift -the- flap books.......2003-03-07

This sturdy cardboard pull tab book is a great alternative for a baby to interact with the book. Tired of the lift the flap type books? This has six double sided pull tabs that make different characters (birds, bunny, sun, fish, snail, etc) appear from behind various parts of the landscape. The great thing about this book is that you can play peekaboo with your baby and "sneak peeks" with the characters. The bright sunny faces on these pictures are always a win with babies. My knows-what-she-likes 10 month old picked out this book even though it is stated as for 18 month olds. She can't pull the tabs herself yet, but she tries (and gets frustrated). She still enjoys the rhymes and the pictures. I think it will grow with her over time.

Great art but not very helpful.......2007-06-13

This book is definitely not for beginners. I recommend this for skilled or somewhat intermediate artists.
This book is good as a reference and nothing more. I wouldn't call this book instructive at all. The How to Draw Manga title is misleading. How to Draw implies instruction this book is more of a reference than instructional.

Excellent reference material - but not for beginners.......2005-09-09

This is the sort of reference book made for people who already have a grasp of human body drawing basics. This is made more to build up from those basics, to show you what a body in action looks like. It also gives a lot of Japanese names for things (like mukoozune -- kicking someone in the shins). For a nice touch, not every scene depicted is totally serious appearing; there are several little goofy looking action scenes, true to the anime nature. A good buy for the beginning artist who wishes to build their skills.

Just to clarify..........2005-09-01

If you're worried about nudity, then don't get the book. It should be noted, however, that most shounen genre (which has a lot of action / hero comics), has a lot of this "vile" stuff. Although the base is changing, most of their readers are teen boys, and they do something called a little "fan service".

Beginners may want to wait before getting this, or hold on to it if they already own it. It's a fairly good book on illustrating battle and fighting, and I have yet to see another book that does as well on the subject.

DESPISE ALL THE BAD ADIVCE. This book is NOT VULGER or GROSS. This book is great referance. The Nudity and all graphics are Needed for real life movements and other things. Unless you are going to illastrate a lill baby children books. you don't want it. now if you are serious about manga and anime. you NEED THIS BOOK. well thank you for your time.

Do not get this book.......2004-12-21

I repeat: you do not want to get this book. I ordered it for a friend for christmas and I looked over it before I wrapped it. And boy, was I glad I did! This book has vile, obscene, and had highly unappropriate content. I was hideously disgusted and was so ashamed I picked the book in the first place- I walked to the trash can and put it in. A complete waste of money and I had to go to the store that night to find a last minute replacement book. If you want a book, I would highly recommend the book How to Draw Manga, All The Basics. That was the book I got for my other friend, and it was very impressive. At the risk of sounding redundant, I say: Unless you want to burn money- DON'T BUY THIS BOOK
