Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

The Cat in the Hat says, "We can have all kinds of fun that is funny!"--and proceeds to prove it in his inimitable style. Inspired by many of the best-loved Dr. Seuss classics, including The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and There's a Wocket in My Pocket!, this giant flap book is guaranteed to flip out even the unflappable. Giggling readers can lift more than 70 flaps to find such distinguished characters as Zeds, Findows, and Lollipop-Licking Lions. Learning to count is a piece of cake when every numbered flap reveals surprises such as nine wet pets or six sick bricks. But wait, there's more! Flip the flaps to discover that the cow says "moo" and the bumblebee says "buzz buzz." Red Rhinoceros starts with the letter r and Camel on the Ceiling starts with c. The opposite of old is new, and the opposite of sad is glad. So go ahead, put this book in your bookcase--unless the banana-munching Nook Gase gets there first. In that case, try the cupboard--drats! The Nupboards beat you to it! Wherever it goes, the Great Big Flap Book is sure to entertain and educate. (Ages 3 to 7) --Emilie Coulter

Book Description

Inspired by five all-time best-selling Beginner Books®, this Seussian tour de flap includes:

* Animal sounds, courtesy of Mr. Brown (Yes, he can moo! Lift the flap and you'll moo, too!)

* Rhyming games and wordplay inspired by There's a Wocket in My Pocket! and One Fish  Two Fish  Red Fish  Blue Fish

* And as if all this weren't enough -- Dr. Seuss's ABC in 26 flaps!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT.......2007-01-05

As a Dr. Seuss fan from far too many years ago, I absolutely love the book. Nice big easy flaps to open and bright colors along with Seuss' best lines.

5 out of 5 stars All Kids should have this one!!.......2003-01-02

All kids should have this book, there is no doubt in my mind. I wish all children's books were this well- crafted. And if you're a teacher, don't even dream about missing this one. Also nice to add to your collection are: Aesop for Children (Winter), Grimm's complete fairy tales (Grimm), Great Children's stories (Richardson), The Butterfly (Singh). There are many other great children's books out there, but these were the ones I enjoyed the most. Oh, and I almost forgot the two classics that no children should ever be deprived of: The Little Prince (Exupery) and Charlotte's Web (White).

5 out of 5 stars Flapping Great Benefits and Value from Five Dr. Seuss Books!.......2001-03-09

This book is probably the best value and choice for children under 3 among the Dr. Seuss offerings. This book draws on five of the best Dr. Seuss books for young learners in abridged and more interactive fashion to make it exciting and interesting to very young children.

You get basic counting, letter identification, prereading training, introduction to rhyming, and the alphabet all in one fun book with great flaps that the smallest fingers will lovingly turn open. Any child can get a great educational start on important basics here, and graduate to working with the complete five books to provide this information in more depth.

The first two page spread is from The Cat in the Hat and covers all the numbers up to 20. Each flap has a number of Seussian animals or objects behind it. The order of the numbers is scrambled across the two pages so your child can also learn to look for numbers in order, as a way of reinforcing counting skills.

The second two page spread is from Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? The child is encouraged to make the appropriate animal sounds. These sounds are printed out, and this spread provides experience and skill in letter and word identification, and oral reading.

The third two page spread is from There's a Wocket in My Pocket! This section is good for beginning readers because the animals behind the flapped items rhyme with the flapped items (like wocket and pocket). Your child can then learn a few sounds for consonants by seeing and hearing how changing one letter changes the sound and meaning of the whole word. With the clue of the flap item, this section also helps with basic word decoding.

The fourth two page spread is from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. This section features a full rhyming scheme. "From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere." This rhyming futher reinforces letter identification to help with word decoding. By making this section easier to memorize, your child may well start to "read" this section to you before the other ones.

The fifth two-page spread is from Dr. Seuss's ABC and has all 26 letters in it. Again, they are not in exact order, so your child can also learn the alphabetic order by working with this. The Cat in the Hat returns as the host for this adventure. Having had so many examples of the importance of letter identification in the immediately prior three sections, this is a good place to introduce the whole alphabet.

Most children will probably want to do this book from front to back every time. That may seem like a lot for you to read with them, but the learning experience is very good that way. I urge you to follow through with that approach if your child likes it. With over 70 flaps to turn over, there's plenty of interactivity to keep boredom at bay.

If you find your child is doing much better on some sections than others, you might move onto the rest of that book at that point. Most children will find some material easier than others. Since this is all somewhat related, you can build on strengths that way to help open up any minor blocks to learning that you may be seeing.

Flap away!

5 out of 5 stars The Flaps are the Focus.......2000-12-13

Although advertised for the toddler and preschool set, my son adored this book even at 9 months old. He is now one year old and is by no means tired of it. He can stay on one page for at least fifteen minutes flipping the flaps open and closing them again. I imagine that when he is old enough to understand letters and numbers and opposites he will still be as engrossed with it. I think the good size of the book and the very colorful illustrations add to the appeal.

5 out of 5 stars THE ULTIMATE DR. SEUSS BOOK! THIS ONE'S ALL YOU NEED!.......2000-09-25

My daughter absolutely adores this book! It takes all the things that make Dr. Seuss so GREAT without all the long, tongue-twisting stories for parents to read! I PROMISE you will like this AS MUCH or MORE than your child does! There are so many flaps it keeps my daugher entertained for up to 30 minutes at a time--THAT is AMAZING! No other book we own can do that!

The first 2 pages are from THE CAT IN THE HAT (counting); pages 3 and 4 are from MR BROWN CAN MOO! CAN YOU? (animals); the 5th and 6th pages are from THERE'S A WOCKET IN MY POCKET! (fun creatures lurking about); the next 2 pages are from ONE FISH, TWO FISH, RED FISH, BLUE FISH (opposites); and the last two pages are from DR. SEUSS'S ABC. All the bright colors not only make the book visually appealing but serve as yet another training tool!

Lift-the-flaps is the rage these days because most books I think are so hard for children to turn the pages but the flaps are small like their hands and fingers! PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT! 10 STARS! THE CAT IN THE HATS' GREAT BIG FLAP BOOK is a MUST OWN! You will not be disappointed! Trust me!

5 out of 5 stars the best book ever.......2006-04-11

I got this book when i was seven from my grandmother i'm 19 now and still love to read it from time to time. I have loved this book most of my life and i'm buying it today for my sisters kids.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Collection.......2005-02-05

It is wonderful to find all of these stories in one volume, and the illustrations are as beautiful as ever. Beatrix Potter was truly a great artist and storyteller. The lessons young ones learn from these tales are priceless, like many of the greatest fables. Over the years, I have acquired many Beatrix Potter books and collectibles. This volume stands out as one of the most prized items in my collection.

5 out of 5 stars This is the Potter we're looking for!.......2005-02-03

As a father, I'm looking for what's best for my little girl. Other than The Bible, a book of tales filled with mischief and fun such as this is always something you can go back to. I remember my parents reading me "The Tale of Peter Rabbit", yet picking this up, I flipped through it with my daughter like a pirate who discovered a hidden treasure.

I knew all about Benjamin Bunny, Squirrel Nutkin, even the Two Bad Mice! Getting the treasury of Beatrix Potter was like WOW! This is a lot of good stuff, and while a little advanced, kids normally get the meaning and lesson through every story. I loved reading stuff like "The Floppsy Bunnies" and going to Tom Kitten, while wondering about stuff I don't remember reading like Jemima Puddle-Duck. Also remembering the hilarity of "The tale of the Pie and the Patty-Pan", to the somberness of "The Tailor of Gloucester.

Do your kids a favor and get them this Potter, the one we grew up with! This is what I've been looking for, and hopefully parents who actually give a care will do the same. Awesome stuff!

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully collected stories and illustrations.......2002-10-23

This childrens book of the classic Beatrix Potter stories is hardbound in a large attractive cover. The illustrations are all wonderfull, and average three pictures per page next to the text which goes along with the scene. My now three year old loves this book.

My mother bought this for my kids, and this is an excellent gift for bedtime, or anytime stories for children. Classics like these are wonderfull to read to children so they can be passed on from generation to generation.

5 out of 5 stars Priceless and timeless tales.......2001-07-31

I had several of the small Beatrix Potter books as a child. The drawings and stories enchanted me, and the books were just the right size for my hands. This book is much bigger. It also includes more stories than my original collection--nineteen. It is easy to find the Peter Rabbit stories and some of the others in the small books--but some of the stories in this book (such as the wonderful "The Story Of A Fierce Bad Rabbit") I've never seen for sale in individual form. So, if you loved these stories as a child or if you want to introduce them to a child in your life, this large and beautiful book is a good choice. However, when I have children of my own I'll probably also buy a set of the small books, because I enjoyed them so much in that form myself.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Big Winner.......2007-04-11

Our 3-year-old is a big fan of the TV series and had always pretended that he also had a copy of the Great Big Book of Everything. Now he's thrilled to have his very own REAL one. He even keeps it under his bed just like Stnaley does. The book is beautifully set out and interesting to read for all ages. A great book for any child who enjoys Stanley or is into wildlife.

5 out of 5 stars Great toilet training aid!.......2007-04-11

We used this book successfully to encourage our daughter to do number two's in the big loo. The book stayed in there, and every time she got that glassy look in her eyes we'd say with great enthusiasm "let's go read the big book!" and off she'd go.

The animals aren't ordered alphabetically in the book, but are still grouped in a very kid-friendly way. The hard cover also protects it from the ravages of kidzilla. Full marks!

5 out of 5 stars Great Big Book of Fun.......2007-01-07

Perfect pint size reading with interesting facts most adults won't know. You have to be okay with the animals not being in any real order, but it does make it more fun that way. I would highly recommend for 3-5 year olds.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and Fabulous Resource.......2007-01-04

This book has interesting facts and pictures on every page. It was a hit with my Grade 3 class! It is exciting and fun to read especially for those who do not like reading. I simply would ask a child their favorite animal and we would turn to that page. Then I would have them read a fact about their chosen animal. This book supports several Alberta, Canada curriculum objectives and is an excellent resource. It is a wonderful way to get any child excited about science!
I also recommend Andrew Griffin's Stanley books as resources. They are fun and engaging.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK!!!.......2006-11-20

My son loves this book!! He received it 2 years ago for his 4th birthday and it has been well used. When he first got it he had to sleep with it for 2 weeks. It has such vivid pictures and interesting facts about animals and insects. Whenever he has a question about an animal he goes and gets this book and tries to look it up and learn more about the animal. He just loves it! I can't say enough good about it. Definately recommend this book!

Book Description

Illustrated in full color. The fun starts right inside the front cover of this big oversize board-book companion to Arthur Goes to School. Arthur, his pesky little sister D.W., and four of their friends set out to search for Arthur's missing puppy, Pal - and sturdy punch-out toy figures let kids play out the search themselves. Each spread has at least one "put and take" slot cut into the board page, offering all kinds of interactive play with the figures. Can you find that playful  puppy? Preschoolers will love searching through the many doors, cabinets, and drawers found on every spread trying to find him. Kids can even help Arthur "try on" shoes at the shoe store and tuck him behind the wheel of a great big hook and ladder at the firehouse.

5 out of 5 stars Arthur's Neighborhood: eith punch out figures and flaps.......2001-11-19

Our two year old absolutely loves this book. We've given this book as a gift to all the two year olds we know, they all like it a lot. We purchased our daughter a new book. She had torn the figures and slots they go in on the old book because she plays with the book daily! We had the figures laminated so they would hold up longer, it cost @$2 at a printing shop. One problem with some of the books is that the pages come apart, they need more glue inbetween!

5 out of 5 stars great "waiting room" book.......2001-08-17

Over the past two or three years my five-year-old daughter has worn out two copies of this book. I am ordering a third. She never gets tired of moving around the punch-out characters, talking to them and for them.

4 out of 5 stars 20-Month-Old's Favorite Thing in the World.......2001-08-03

My daughter absolutely adores this book. Like another reviewer, my only complaint is the sturdiness of the play people. Once I'd taped Arthur's head on for the second time, it occurred to me to laminate 'em! That's what I'll do when I get our backup version of this. So that's the ticket. Other than that, she loves this book. She'll sit forEVer putting the guys in and taking them out. I've not seen her concentrate and work so hard at anything else yet.

4 out of 5 stars My son's favorite book.......2001-07-30

My son (20 months) can't get enough of this book. We play with it for hours every day. I'd give it nearly 5 stars, but I'm a little bit unhappy with the play figures. I wish they were more sturdy! Other than that: an awesome book. A great gift, too.

4 out of 5 stars Good fun.......2000-07-29

This book takes the child through a typical arthur day: breakfast, school, play, fire engines, shopping, etc. The flaps open, to reveal pictures and words. The characters punch out and are moved into slots on different pages to show different activities. These types of books are fun for kids, and provide a good source of topics for discussion while they go through the book. This one has a "let's find Pal" theme that is useful and educational, and there a good number of flaps, of different sizes, shapes and content. Overall, this is one of the better lift and flap books I've seen. I'd really give it nearly 5 stars; unfortunately, none of these books, while useful, are really elegant stories.

Big brother Arthur remembers how it was when his sister D.W. was first born. Boring. But just at first. Then they started having fun. Reminiscing about playing peek-a-boo, spitting up, and learning the alphabet and nursery rhymes, Arthur helps D.W. get used to the idea of another brand-new baby in the house.

Whether they've just become big siblings for the first time or have a slew of sisters and brothers crawling around underfoot, young readers will love lifting the flaps to learn about what to expect with a new baby. Pretty soon, they may even embrace their role, when they start introducing Sis or Junior to the delights of Humpty Dumpty, the ABCs, and dress-up. Most importantly, readers will be reminded that they are still loved, even if the baby seems to be getting an awful lot of attention.

Marc Brown, creator of the world's favorite aardvark, Arthur (Arthur's New Puppy, Arthur's Birthday), offers a lighthearted, sensitive, and humorous perspective on the sometimes traumatic new-baby event. With more than 40 flaps to lift, including alphabet blocks (p is for pacifier, n is for night-light) and baby gifts, as well as holes to make wiggling finger rabbit ears, this latest in the Arthur series is a sweet look at sibling love. (Preschool to age 7) --Emilie Coulter

4 out of 5 stars Arthur's Baby.......2004-03-15

This is a touching book. It tells Arthur's story as a new baby comes in to his house. It also shows how he adjusted to his new life stlye.

4 out of 5 stars Great For New Big Brothers Or Sisters.......2001-12-16

This book is great for younger children who are nervous about the new baby that is going to arrive. There are good pictures and it shows how many kids feel and how to handle the new child. Plus it shows just how much fun having a younger sibling can be.

1 out of 5 stars This book is typical Arthur material -- bratty........2001-12-11

This is typical Arthur. DW is pretty negative about Baby Kate entering the household. At one point she proclaims "Babies are boring" Later she commiserates that everything seems to be about the baby and not about her anymore.

While kids probably do have these emotions, I don't like the book putting words to them or validating them. Whenever I read this book I change the words to be more positive.

Also, it has some nursery rhymes, one of which goes something like "God bless the moon, God bless me". Not something that fits my personal style so I have to change this, too, to "The moon is special and so are you"

Overall, I much prefer the "I'm a Big Brother / Big Sister" books to Arthur. That being said, my 2 year old liked both books and still asks for them now at 2 1/2 even though the baby is 6 months old.

4 out of 5 stars Helpful for the Young Arthur Fan.......2001-11-07

While the content of this book is very similar to many other good books to help _children_ become _siblings_, it is presented in an entertaining way typical of Brown's Arthur books. The graphics present an understandable and engaging picture for any child who's familiar with the Arthur television show; its style, of necessity is just a little from the books, but not so much the child will not enjoy and follow. A good tool to use as part of your preparation package for your (currently) only child.

5 out of 5 stars Our favorite "new baby" book.......2001-07-07

I bought about 6 books when we were expecting our son to help prepare my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She wasn't really interested in the idea of a brother. This book is still a favorite of hers. We have read it many many times - a favorite bedtime book. She enjoys acting out the parts where D.W. (Arthur's sister) says "Babies are Boring!" and also enjoys the nursery rhyme section where she can put her fingers through the holes to make the spiders' legs. The book aided in recognizing the letters of the alphabet by sight and as with most children - the flaps are a great way to keep them involved in the story. The book is sturdy and fun and has a great message. I look forward to sharing it with my son now that we are expecting our third child. This is a great addition to your children's library and makes a wonderful gift.

Product Description

From School Library Journal Kindergarten-Grade 3?The poor little red ant! Of the thousand of ants that live in her anthill in a cornfield in Mexico, she is the smallest of all. So when she finds a huge crumb of delicious torta (cake), she sets off to find someone to carry it back home for her. Though she is the smallest, the little red ant is also pretty savvy. She doesn't get too close to the long-tongued lizard, or stray into the spider's web. By the time she scares a man away from the cornfield, the little red ant has figured out the moral of this Mexican version of an old fable retold by Shirley Climo and illustrated by Francisco Mora (Clarion Books, 1995): "You can do it if you think you can." Spanish words in the text are understandable in context, but a glossary is also included. Lively background music throughout enhances the tale. Reader Diego Arciniegas varies the voices so each character is distinct. This enjoyable tale has page-turn signals on one side of the cassette and narration only on the other.?Judy Czarnecki, Chippewa River District Library System, Mt. Pleasant, MI

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book that stands the test of time!!!!.......2006-09-25

I orginally bought this book for my son (now age 10). He absolutely loved this book. It has peek-a-boo pages where it shows many different things. It has one section where its focus is contrast. So, you will see a short flower, and you lift the flap and it's a tall flower. Or, it will show a full plate of cookies and you lift the flap and the cookies are gone.

It also has counting, alphabet and the story of the three pigs. This book was used throughout his infant/toddler and preschool years. Now, my 2 year old daughter has attached herself to the same book (great quality board book). She loves to lift the flaps and see what is underneath. The alphabet is the last 2 pages..and under each letter is picture of something, so this also teaches word recognition and memory recognition. This one book has so many aspects of learning in it. It's bright and colorful and your children will love it! Worth every penny!!!A++++++

5 out of 5 stars A winner!.......2000-04-30

My four year old son has 3 precious "comfort" reads and this is one of them. We've read it so many times together he knows it by heart. It's a great book because not only does it hold his interest (he never tires of the flaps) but it also reinforces the alphabet, counting and teaches him about opposites. And it's also a fun book for me to read aloud (over and over . . . )

4 out of 5 stars Like most big lift the flap books, fun and educational.......2000-02-18

It seems like most all of this kind of big lift the flap books are a little similar---a page about letters, one about numbers, an opposite page and so forth, but they are also all pretty well done and big child pleasers! My 2 sons really like this one. Their favorite part is the "book within a book" of The Three Little Pigs. It got my older son interested in that fairy tale, which we then read in different versions, and then in fairy tales in general! One thing to note---the characters of Arthur and Francine and all of the gang seem younger in this book than in the show, more like preschool versions of themselves.

5 out of 5 stars I had to buy two!.......1997-11-19

An excellent book for school readiness. My kids
fought over it so much that I had to buy a
second copy! An absolute must-have for all
4-year-olds. Make sure to buy one for each
child!
