This edition is not as advanced or complete as earlier versions. If you did want to explore a the subject more completely you are at a disadvantage with this version, the references to the original work that were at the end of each chapter in previous versions have been removed.

Matt was my prof for aquaculture and his book mimics his understandable method of teaching. It is readable, but not patronizing. He was a pioneer of aquaculture at Harbor Branch. Recommend this and his class for anyone interested in aquaculture

Knot To Be Understood.......2005-12-26
The book should have been tested by handing it to novices and watch them tie while attempting to follow the diagrams. I think the results would have been hilarious. I still find it useful, but I wish another 10% had been added for the sake of clarity. It would then be a 5-star book instead of 3-star. After a 23-year hiatus, I am returning to serious fishing as I step into retirement, so naturally I have to learn to use the new materials and also try to revive my old skills. One challenge is knot-tying and splicing with the new and slippery super lines (Gelspun) like SpiderWire and Power Pro. I bought two knot books, the Waterproof Book of Knots and this Geoff Wilson Encyclopedia from Australia. To its credit the Wilson book lives up to its name; it is definitely encyclopedic, dedicated to fishing, and printed on good paper with very clear drawings. It has a great section on rigging baits and is pretty well organized. Bluntly, some of the directions are simply a mystery. When it says, to splice a super line to monofilament "Tie a knot in the braided lines and pull the entire monofilament through," I have no idea of what kind of knot I am supposed to tie, the tag ends are not labeled so I can identify them in the diagram, there is no explanation of how to interpret the diagram conventions, and frequently I feel more steps should be added to many of the instructions. Some knots do have more understandable diagrams, and some diagrams do identify which end is what, but it is inconsistent. I found the book frustrating, but believe when I learn more about knot tying in general, I will become more comfortable with it. By the way, the Waterproof Book of Knots is expensive for a small, limited book, but I had no trouble comprehending the drawings.

The revealing, step-by-step visual digrams make the instructions extremely explicit. This is an absolute "must-have", user friendly, quick reference for the dedicated fisherman.

generally a good book but it is very difficult to study after having finished the first volume because the transition from Vol1 to Vol2 is very sudden and does not include pinyn. Also the presentation of the grammar is very unfriendly and difficult to follow.

Although I am no great architectural authority, I love the Romanesque and have had the pleasure of visiting many churches while travelling in rural France. Like a 12th century pilgrim, I even made the journey to Compostela in Spain. This book, however, made me feel like I only scratched the surface -- what amazing (and uncelebrated) Romanesque buildings there are ALL OVER Europe! I am newly amazed at how diverse the Romanesque style can be. The author and photographer undertook a daunting project, documenting hundreds of structures (practically every building of note, it seems). The quality of this book is staggering -- you would think it should sell for a lot. But as detailed as some of the academic articles can be, the book is never dull or pedantic -- partly because the photography is so terrific and compelling. This book is magical. A GREAT bargain, a great gift, and highly recommended.

This is a large "coffee table" size book that covers the Romansque Period to an exhaustable amount. It covers architecture, scuplture, and paintings for the professional and the layperson. This book is a bargain at $39.98. Most books of this size and contents cost over $100.00. This book will make a wonderful gift or an great addition to any library.
