This spectacular deck captures the perceptive powers of the legendary dragon. Dragon Tarot represents the fulfillment of centuries of research into symbolism by mystics from the world over.
Customer Reviews:
Gorgeous deck!.......2007-10-10
Wow, the art and dragons are really beautiful!
I got this deck for their pictures.
I love to use beautiful pics for inspriration as a writer/poet and these dragons will be wonderful subjects!
Beautiful.......2007-04-02
These cards are amazingly well done. The definitions that come with them allow for a novice like me to get straight into a reading. I'm happy with what I received, and I highly recommend it to any lover of dragons and/or tarot.
a fine collectors deck.......2007-02-02
This deck is an interesting piece of work: if you love dragons, you are bound to love it as the artist has some very beautiful takes on dragon kind. If you are a fan of Peter Pracownik's artwork, you most definitely want this deck.
However, the symbolism is lacking the cards- as well as he draws dragons, it's rather plain he knew very little about Tarot itself beyond a surface glance at Rider-Waite. This is especially apparent in cards where he apparently opted to skip out on even trying to capture any kind of symbolism and simply drew the pips and then stuck a dragon in somewhere.
The card stock is of average sort- standard quality and size for a US games systems deck. It's a bit smaller than your typical tarot deck, but this can make it desirable for those who prefer small, easier to work with cards.
The book, sadly, is useless. Its advice is counter productive to learning the cards -you should never ignore a card's reversed state- and gives little in the way of useful info, even for a LWB. The only worthwhile thing in it is the Celtic cross layout they put in the back- one that is very common to many a deck's LWB. The larger, companion book (sold separately) is not much better.
If you really want a deck of unique dragons to read and are heavily familiar with Rider-Waite already: this deck makes for an interesting alternative deck. If you're a collector of Tarot or Pracownik- it's a must.
If you're new to tarot or prefer decks that were made to be true to Tarot symbolism- you'll want to move along and find a better deck. This one fell prey to the usual issues of using dragons as the centerpiece. Fine art, little to no depth.
Fun art, Fine product.......2006-11-03
I had originally purchased the Dragon Tarot from a metaphysical store in Lake Worth, Florida. When I lost it in a move a few years later I had given up on finding them again. A friend suggested that I try Amazon and there it was!
The artwork on the cards is in a more modern style than more traditional tarot sets, with a rich, dark colour schema and a painterly mood. Although I appreciate the colour and "feel" of the artstyle, I would have preferred more linework and depiction of the subject matter in the art itself. While the work doesn't look incomplete, it doesn't seem quite finished either.
The cards feel great in the hand, sturdy and slick with enough friction in them to keep from sliding all across the table. I'm not afraid of bending the cards when I use them, and their size is such that it's easy for me to manipulate (I have large hands).
Now, the booklet that comes with them is much less stellar. The little blurb about dragons and tarot and celtic history and such seems as though it were written without any prior research. The methodology that they want you to follow flies in the face of all tarot teachings that I'm aware of (don't read the cards in reverse? Why the hell not? Is the celtic dragon version of the world all sunshine and roses?) The "Celtic Cross" system for reading tarot is interesting, but I highly doubt that it is an ancient and traditional celtic method of reading the tarot.
In short, buy the deck and toss the booklet after ripping out the pages dealing with the Celtic Cross. The art leaves a little to be desired (mainly more line definition) but over all it is rich and evocative.
My all time favourite .......2006-09-20
This is a deck I have used daily over the years, the colours are vibrant and the message from the cards are clear as the artwork holds much symbolism and fine detail to allow yourself to find the unique meaning of each card. This deck allows for the reader to have fun with the reading as the all dragon deck has no people just wonderful dragons so it is for the true dragon lover.
This is the deck for those who want to explore the realm of dragons, it is for the fantasy lover as well as the dragon lover and for any who truly enjoy something a little different from the other decks as this offers vibrant colour and wonderful dragons to entertain you while you read these cards... the symbolism hidden within the cards will allow depth to the reading as well as keep you learning from the cards every reading.

LOVE THE CARDS.......2007-03-01
I REALLY LOVE THESE CARDS, THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. I DONT LIKE THE BOOK NEAR AS MUCH AS THE CARDS. THEY TEND TO GO WITH THE OLD TAROT MEANINGS AND NOT ENOUGH ALTERNATIVE OR OTHER POSSIBLE MEANINGS
Celtic Dragon Tarot Kit.......2007-02-13
I absolutely love this tarot. Cards are a little bit bigger than I am used to, but that's o.k. Both ladies, D.J. And Lisa did really good job.
The Celtic Dragon Tarot Kit - A Review.......2007-01-27
The Celtic Dragon Tarot Kit has been around for six years now, and has become a popular deck for readers who like to experience a sense of magic and story as they move through a reading. Special and unique features of this kit is the sections of spells and meditations which lead the reader through various exercises in utilizing the tarot imagery and dragon energy to perform sacred rituals and visualizations. For instance, a spell for prosperity involves lighting a gold and a green candle, placing the three cards: Ten of Pentacles, The Empress, and the Ace of Pentacles on an altar, then softly affirming, "Good vibrations, prosperity, success and money, come to me. All good things grow, no fear or strife, prosperity comes into my life."
Created by D. J. Conway and illustrated by Lisa Hunt, published by the well-established company, Llewellyn Publishing, this deck offers delicate, storybook graphic images using soft colors, delicate lines and an old book illustrative approach to each card's visuals. Lisa's artwork draws into the days of old, when dragons were a common part of the world's trajectory and belief system.
The Celtic Dragon Tarot deck has the same basic structure as more traditional tarot decks with 78 cards in total in four suits, Pentacles, Cups, Swords and Wands, with a couple of departures. The authors correlate Wands with the Air element, and Swords with Fire. They also portray the Magician as a powerful woman, and the High Priest (male) replaces the High Priestess. As well, the Devil (Number 15 Major Arcana) is called Chains in this deck. The icing on the cake, of course, is the strategic use of dragons on each and every card. The back of each card has a marble like finish with a delicate celtic knot design.
The Celtic Dragon Deck is unique, offering delicate beautiful illustrations which embody the sacred energy of the various dragons with noble, artistic figures and ancient Celtic surroundings. For instance, the Fool is a young Celtic blonde fellow, dressed in a traditional tunic, breeches and high boots, with his proverbial staff in his hand. He walks through a thick wood, and meets up with four young dragons, one blue (Water), one yellow (Air), one red (Fire), and behind him, one green (Earth). Between the branches of the trees, one can see the eerie peering eyes of the full grown dragons watching him carefully. Or the Empress, is illustrated as a lovely, joyful middle aged woman dressed in a long celtic royal dress, clutching a bouquet of roses, with a huge laughing smile on her face, as she gazes into the eyes of a laughing mid sized green dragon. They both look like they enjoy each other's company very much. Her mate, the Emperor is portrayed as a wise handsome middle aged man, leaning in a relaxed manner against the reclined figure of a huge blue Water dragon. They both fondly look on at the Emperor's two young children, a son and daughter, both playing happily with tiny baby dragons.
The Lovers is an interesting card, showing two dragons gazing at each other instead of a man and woman. One dragon is yellow and lies on the bank of a stream peering into the eyes of a half submerged blue Water dragon. Similarly, the Hermit is a huge Green dragon perched on a rock face, deep in thought as he reads sacred transcripts. His lair is surrounded by various Celtic petroglyphs carved into the rock faces.
Conway and Hunt include a 240 page full sized book that features interpretations, tarot spreads, information about the dragons, and the aforementioned spells and meditation sections.
I highly recommend the Celtic Dragon Tarot - it makes the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. It will appeal to the taste of many, especially those drawn to Celtic lore and Dragons in particular.
Lovely art, little depth.......2007-01-19
I'm a collector of tarot decks and have many both novel and genuine: this one, sadly, most definitely falls to novel.
The art is beautiful and the intentions clear- but if you are looking for a genuine tarot deck, this one is not for you. The backs are poorly designed and make it easy to tell when one card is reversed and when it is not when face down; and the book itself offers no meaning to a reversed card. This cuts out fully half of the meanings of the cards and how they are to be read.
If you are looking for a beautiful deck, then this is most certainly it- but if you want an actual divination deck, it's suggested you look elsewhere.
Wow !!.......2006-11-13
I bought this as a gift for my daughter and she fell in love with it. The images of the dragons are amazing, the cards are beautiful and hold up well, and the book is very good. We really loved the whole concept of the dragons, one card has a dragon and a cat that we just thought was the best. I would explore more products from this author/illustrator and really enjoyed this whole set. worth the money !!!

Customer Reviews:
Great for Dragon Mythlogy.......2007-01-29
Since I know a great about dragon myths, I liked the deck. It shows all of the dragons of the world in action. If you are a Taroist, the deck maybe a little hard to follow since it strays from the traditional meanings for the cards. However, the illustrations are great.
For example, the Tower card has the angel hammer a nail in the great dragon's tail. The dragon is screaming. This gives a sense of shattering as is the traditional Tower's meaning. It does in a vivid way for me.
I do use the deck in layouts but the Minor Arcana takes getting used to. I compared them to the traditional images, and in some cases it was a bit baffling.

Book Description
In whatever form dragons appear, in fiction, legend, or the unconscious, they are powerful. Seen as aspects of ourselves, like any mythological symbol, they represent forces which we may find difficult to come to terms with: the untamed and less familiar sides of our personalities. If the psyche is to be whole, we sometimes need to befriend these deeper and darker sides of ourselves. In keeping with my early experience of dragons as a child, I have also included lighter, tenderer, and more ordinary qualities in my definition of dragonhood¹.
The Dragon Cards were conceived as a light-hearted attempt to balance striving after perfection with an acceptance of my human nature, with all its idiosyncrasies and imperfections. What do dragons do? They guard the treasure. The trail of dragons through my life has had to do with gradually coming to accept things the way they are, life on earth as treasure in all its manifestations, including less welcome ones.
You can use these cards in any way that suits you and your own relationship with the unknown. Some people may like to shuffle and cut the deck in order to find their card, others may spread them out and rummage around a bit, others again may find themselves clearly drawn to a particular card. You can spin this process out, turning it into a meditation, or take potluck trusting in the spontaneity of the moment. You may vary your approach every time you use them, depending on your mood. Whether you pick one for the day or for a particular project or occasion, be curious about your first thought as you turn it over. Then let the image take wings in your imagination and see where it takes you. Could there be an opportunity for befriending yourself here? A chance of expansion? A way to have more fun, to be more alive? Or does it seem so foreign that you choose to use freewill to find another? However you use them, may you find treasure here.
Customer Reviews:
Not the greatest oracle..........2002-12-21
When I bought these cards for my brother, I was expecting them to be cards with pictures of all kinds of dragons. Instead, we discovered that the only dragon picture in the deck, is the one seen on the box, and that turned out to be the back of the card. I understand my brother when he says that he can't expand on them like one can with some oracle cards. Dragon Cards have words, giving straight forward meanings, instead of pictures one can elaborate on. Don't get me wrong, these cards may be right for some people. I prefer something that involves more intuitive thinking.
Book Description
The dragon, an image of primitive force and power, is present in the imagination of all civilizations.
