This book taught me how to score better.
I really liked the golf routine for the short game
that is explained. The techniques in this book are definitely
helpful. I'm now a much better golfer. I now can hit the ball
much further. The author really taps into the limitations that were holding me back to becoming a great golfer. There are water
hazards on the two par 3s of my home course. I'm no longer
afraid of hitting it in the water.
I have much more confidence before I hit a golf shot because
of what I learned from The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide.

The reasons why this book has awesome golf instruction:
The short game explained in the book makes so much sense. It is a very simple, yet highly and I mean highly effective. I get up and down more often now then ever. I even hole a few chips every now and then. [...] this book has unconventional golf techniques that are highly useful.
My greens in regulation percentage has improved from average of 27% per round to an average of 55% per round. This took me a period of about six months. This book is not another quick tip book. However, as soon as I started using these techniques, I hit the ball a lot more at my intended targets. It has golf techniques that actually give positive lasting effects. I been through a lot of golf books. Golf books usually don't give me lasting results. However, this one does. The best of what I learned from other golf instruction books is proper etiquette and why people slice or hook the ball.
My driving ability has only gotten better. Before reading this book, my fairways hit was 35%. Now after following his essentials of the zero handicap golfer, I now hit approximately 60% of the fairways. Leonardi's technique makes a lot of sense because he showed me how to get more power.
My driving distance has gone up. Before applying the techniques in this book, I had an average driving distance of around 225 yards. After applying the author's techniques, my drives now average in the 265 yard range. I'm amazed at how much power I was losing because I used to be using poor techniques before applying Leonardi's techniques. Now I don't get those up and down practice sessions at the range as I used to get. My practice sessions at the range are much more consistent. In fact, I continue to get better. For example, in the book, it says "slumps don't have to be a part of golf." I can say that the author knows what he is talking about. I don't shoot bad scores anymore.
The author's unique golf instruction is easy to follow. Yes, the book is unconventional. But it's unconventional in an exceptional way. This book is worth much more then $50 because now golf is a lot more satisfying. I used to only dream of what it would be like to score below 80. My dream is now a reality.

Different technique that works........2005-03-22
If you really apply the techniques in this book to your swing, you will see a big difference on where the ball goes. I liked the eight essentials of a zero handicap golfer or better that were described by the author. It's not just theory, the stuff really works and I found it easy to follow.
I apply his techniques to my golf swing and it makes me hit the ball much more consistently. It seems Leonardi has discovered how to put the pieces of a golf swing together into something that works time after time and round after round. The nutrition portion of this book was highly informative. I think I have more endurance on the golf course now because of it. The price of the book is well-worth it. Look how expensive getting golf lessons are these days. If you like books on financial advice, I recommend The Millionaire Mind by Thomas Stanley, interesting book. For example one interesting point Stanley makes is that many millionaires are golfers and that golfers are correlated with higher incomes.
An unorthodox approach in an unorthodox package.......2005-03-09
If you have an open mind, read this book.
I know the author -- and his claims are 100% true. He taught himself how to play golf and he regularly breaks 70 now. And, yes, many of his techniques and strategies go completely against the present-day conventional wisdom concerning the golf swing.
But think about this. Tens of thousands of golfers read books, buy videos, take lessons and then practice, practice, practice. If all the current teachings of the golf swing were so good, then why do so few of golfers EVER break 70? Or 80, for that matter?
Dr. Leonardi's techniques clearly work for him. There is nothing unusual about his physiology, so his techniques will certainly work for many golfers as well. Will his techniques work for everyone? Of course not. Then again, no other golf book or video can claim anywhere close to a 100% success rate.
Ignore the packaging. No, this book does not look slick. But who cares? It's the info that you're purchasing!

Short on words but long on easy-to-follow visuals, Ultimate Golf Techniques is aimed more at beginners and intermediate players than at low handicappers. Though its methods are simple--show pictures of stars such as Nick Faldo and Greg Norman to provide positive images for building a correct swing--Ultimate Golf Techniquesoffers a painless introduction to all aspects of the game. Though fundamentals and mechanics are the instructional's ace, it doesn't neglect the areas that trouble golfers at all levels: how to think on a golf course and how to play within the complexity of the rules.

DK Publishing is a British Publishing House that is master of book making, design and illustration. This book is reflective of this. Any book by DK should automatically be recognized for quality.
As for golf, this book is an excellent introduction for beginners and a good reference for the shelf of the more advanced. It is a well illustrated starter book.
If you want to continue to score over 100, get this book.......2005-03-31
If you want a book that you can display in your library because it looks nice and pretty, this is the book. This book has techniques that will hinder improvement and actually make you score worse. I applied the techniques in this book and I actually scored worse. I also hit my drives much shorter distances and without as much control using the golf techniques described by the author. Why do you think there are over 100 people selling back this book on amazon marketplace? Some marketplace sellers are even selling it for under a $1. To sum up, what you will get is quality paper, nice pictures but no technique that will help you with your golf game. One more thing, you'll also get plenty of golf history.
Other reasons why this book is flawed:
Book claims that the techniques in this book are new. Give me a break. What a lie.

J'enseigne le golf depuis 7 ans à Québec et c'est de loin le meilleur livre de golf parlant des aspects techniques du golf. Dailleur, ce livre est un outil pédagogique obligatoire au Département d'Éducatin Physique de l'Université Laval à Québec à la formation des instructeurs de golf.
Je recommande ce livre à tout mes élèves depuis mes débuts en enseignement du golf. Ce livre est fait simplement et clairement. Il parle des différentes techniques à utiliser en fonction de la situation de jeu dans laquelle vous vous trouvez. Il y a aussi un petit chapitre intéressant sur le "course management" que tous les golfeurs auraient sérieusement avantage à consulter avant de se lancer sur un terrain de golf. La description des techniques de bases est faite de façon simple, claire et précise sans le jargon populaire de golf des professionnels. C'est un bon compromis si vous ne trouvez pas un professeur de golf qui sait répondre à vos attentes.

Good for visualizing the swing mechanics.......2000-12-13
What I liked most about this book was that it covered things like etiquette and some of the history of golf. Two areas that I think are ignored these days. Also, there are plenty of drills and every page is literally packed with illustrations that will help beginners quite a bit. The drawback to this book is that there are times where Campbell ends a section and I felt there were several other points to be made about that particular subject. But, overall, I think it is an excellent book for helping beginners visualize the swing and be exposed to the many different techniques used by the pros, but not as helpful for more experienced golfers.
I tend to judge the worth of a golf instruction book based on how many times I mentally refer to it during a practice session or in a round. After reading tons of golf books, I really never found myself referring to anything in this book I hadn't already been exposed to elsewhere. But if you're just starting out, this is a great place to start. Especially for the price.

They could have put the text in 2 columns, and included 1/3 again as many words. There were so many words we looked up that were not there, it was very frustrating.
It's a handy size, and did a nice job of concisely explaining the structure of the Hungarian Language.
Plus it really needed a few pages of basic phrases.
Best Small Dictionary.......2005-08-22
This dictionary is the perfect size for traveling. It offers a wide array of words in both English and Hungarian, plus helpful information on pronunciation, basic grammar and conversions. Highly recommend it for beginners.

If you're traveling as a tourist, this dictionary should be adequate for your needs. The dictionary is what it is: concise. However, as a student studying Hungarian, I feel that a volume that encompasses more would better serve the purpose of a reference book. As the book has only 10,000 words, I found many gaps when I went to look up a word in Hungarian or to try to find the Hungarian translation of an English word. A handy quick reference, but be sure that that's all you need it for.
very handy pocket dictionary.......2005-03-05
This dictionary is great for everyday use. Most other English-Hungarian/Hungarian-English dictionaries are big and hardcover, making them too bulky to carry around for quick reference. I would highly recommend this dictionary for tourists or students who want a handy reference to carry around.
By far the best pocket resource for students of Hungarian.......2002-09-12
It can be frustrating for the student of Hungarian to find a decent pocket dictionary. Phrasebooks, such as those by Berlitz and Rough Guide, are geared obviously towards travellers and do not have vocabulary suitable for someone tackling a newspaper or short story. Luckily, this Hippocrene Concise Dictionary is an essential resource and I'd recommend that anyone entering the adventure of studying Hungarian obtain it.
Like most Hipprocrene dictionaries, this is nothing special in the looks department, the layout is plain and regrettably the binding isn't double-stiched. However, the actual content of the dictionary is excellent. It manages to include the most common words in written and spoken Hungarian but remains pocket-sized. There are even a few appendicies, such as a list of original Magyar names, and a list of holidays in Hungary. This dictionary will prove all the more useful to students of Hungarian travelling in Hungary with its index of geographical names and short menu reader.
I am a bit unsatisfied with the price. The book is a short paperback, such as would usually go for less than it does, but Hipprocrene tends to price its books too high.
If you're learning Hungarian, hunt down this dictionary as soon as you can. You will find it invaluable in your study of this fascinating language.

Akademiai Kiado is the top publisher in Hungary, and they've staked their investment wisely. Your other options are few, but you'll discover yourself well-pleased after digging deep into this dictionary.
As a beginning student of Hungarian, I have found most dictionaries for Eng-Hun disappointing. Clunky, or using old ways of phrasing, they get in the way of learning the language. A native speaker might determine the differences, but as someone just beyond "szia" and "jo reggelt," I need to have confidence in what I'm using is the best.
Definitions here are short, and usually only the main meaning is listed. The term is bold-faced, and the meaning is in plain text. All is clear and easy to read. Their typographer kept the design simple. The directions and contents--even the introduction--are in both English and Hungarian.
Laszlo Orszagh and Tamas Magay are the main names you'll see in better Eng-Hun books. This dictionary displays the strength of their books. Unfortunately, Orszagh passed away in 1984. He left a solid team to finish the job, and they completed their task as intended.
The Hungarian language is a behemoth to we English speakers, but this dictionary helps clarify the morass of prefixes and suffixes which help define this very old language.
I fully recommend "A Concise English-Hungarian Dictionary."

Don't buy any other Hungarian dictionary........1998-06-15
The Országh László dictionaries are hands down the best. You could practically acquire a reading and writing knowledge of the language just from these dictionaries, because the example sentences and idiomatic constructions are so rich. There is also an appendix with a thorough investigation of all the suffixes (or case endings) used in Hungarian, which is enormously helpful for the beginning learner. Get the concise version (Kéziszótár) which comes in 1 volume H-E, one volume E-H and then graduate to Országh's Comprehensive (Nagyszótár) which is 2 volumes each way--not as handy for quick reference, but VERY, VERY thorough.
