Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Immortalized in legend and celebrated through the centuries, the King of Beasts has fascinated man since it stalked through Europe in prehistoric times. A universal symbol of power, the lion is renowned for its flamboyant mane, noble aspect, terrifying roar, and unsurpassed sexual stamina. Journey into the world of this revered and feared big cat through these spectacular color images. Stand on the searing savannah alongside one of these imposing creatures as it looks down with disdain on other species as so many possible prey. Witness his contradictory nature as he fiercely defends his family and territory, then later lowers himself to petty thievery and carrion scrounging. All the while, the females bring up their cubs collectively and handle the hunting duties. The complexity of this endangered society, which can now be found only in the wildlife parks and sanctuaries of East Africa, is captured here in candid, breathtaking detail.

The lion's share of being written about!.......2005-09-10
This is the best book on lions I've ever read. It is full of useful and interesting facts, and also many full color, beautiful and cool looking photographs of the king of beasts. It shows lions hunting, eating, roaring, fighting, running, playing, and all other things that they do when they're not asleep. It also tells you what they eat, how they mate and defend the pride, and even true stories on real lions or lionesses given names by naturalists. Lions always have been and always will be my favorite animal ever(followed by tigers and jaguars, of course)and this book absolutely rocked. In terms of itself and my world. I recommend this to all nature lovers around the world, thoroughly and completely. Oh, and let's not forget totally and utterly.
Awesome pictures of lions . . . ........2002-10-15
If you are at all fascinated by lions, you have to get this book. It's got some annoying typos in the text, but let's face it, you buy books like this one for the pictures. And the pictures are amazing! Some are so up close that a male lion's face fills the entire page. The colors are rich, showing off the lions' fur nicely, or the African landscape.
The book is divided into sections on anatomy, social behavior, care of the young, and eating. If you find lion cubs irresistably adorable (as I do), the section on the young will knock you over. I don't know how the authors managed to get so close (even with a telephoto lens) to get some of the shots they did (cub suckling on mom, three cubs climbing up a tree).
Typos aside, the text is fine. I learned that lion cubs like to roll around in elephant poop(!).

Shannon Miller--extraordinary gymnast.......2006-10-29
I strongly felt that this book was very lovingly written by Shannon's mother,Claudia, and really gave me a chance to get to know Shannon better.I learned all about her trials, triumphs, and hard work as a gymnast, often in the shaddows of U.S. greats such as Kim Zmeskal,Dominique Moceanu, and Kerri Strug.Shannon was one of the most fortunate gymnasts because she was able to live and train at home, while most elite gymnasts have to live and train far from home.Throughout her life,Shannon has shown the true heart of a champion, both in and out of the gym because she has been grateful for every award or medal she has received. She has also donated her money and time to some of our country's most worthy causes.Shannon is an amazing woman who has set a great example for generations of gymnasts to come.I also admire the sacrifices the Miller family made for Shannon's gymnastics career. They have shown true love and support for her throughout her entire career.
Boring.......2005-08-20
I love to read gymnastics biographies; usually I don't care most of the time what gymnast I'm reading about. So, after reading several books on Shannon Miller, I picked this one up at the library and thought it might be interesting since it was by her own mother.
Yeah, I was wrong. This book is BORING. All it does is describe Shannon's competitions event-by-event, competition by competition. Yeah, maybe if you've never watched her on TV or read any other books about her, this book might be interesting, but I had a hard time picking it up and stopped reading after five minutes because it was so boring. I gave the book several chances and eventually forced myself to finish it, though.
Plus, there's nothing much about her personal life; really. All it does is talk about her gymnastics career and early life. Oh, and her mother brags about her daughter Shannon plenty enough, as well, sometimes even bragging about herself. Last time I checked, this was a biography about SHANNON, not her mother.
All in all, I didn't like it. The photos were nice, but I'd already seen many of them. For a slightly better Shannon biography, read "Shannon Miller: America's Most Decorated Gymnast," by Krista Quiner. It does a better job of detailing her career without being boring and/or overly bragging, plus it is more revealing, as well.
A pretty good book.......2004-05-12
For those of you that can't get a hold of the other Shannon Miller biography, this book is a good substitute.
Written by Shannon's mother, I found it to give a very informative and interesting look into Shannon's life before and after Barcelona and Atlanta. This book tells you how she coped with her injures, about her training, and her relationship with Steve Nunno.
Of course, since Shannon's mother wrote it you get a little one-sided view, because after all, in her mother's eyes Shannon can do nothing wrong. But Shannon's mother tried very hard to be accurate, and overall I was left with a very good impression.
Before I read this I didn't really like Shannon Miller as much as some of the other gymnasts, and I'm not sure why. But after I read this book, it gave me a new understanding of all the hard work Shannon had to put in to become America's favorite gymnast.
Overall a good book.......2004-01-20
This is a great book to read if you're a fan of shannon, obviously, but also if you were a fan of gymnastics during the early 1990's. It's fun to read about all the different meets that you saw on tv and see the athletes perspective and the behind the scenes stuff. Claudia Miller discusses, in depth, the controversial 1994 team worlds where Shannon and Nunno left the competition early. She also talks about Shannon's stalker at the 1994 Nationals. The only thing that annoyed me about this book is that sometimes Claudia passed over certain situations and made everything seem perfect when you know it wasn't. Oh well, still worth a read, buy a used copy if you can.
Okay.......2003-05-10
This book wasn't the greatest biography written about Shannon Miller. Of course, since it was written by Shannon's mother, the book does have a lot of little minor details and stories, and some of them were very interesting. (Like the one about Shannon dressing up as a grocery bag complete with the groceries one Halloween!) However, when it came to Shannon's competitions, the book had so many details about every little thing going on that it kind of became overwhelming, and sometimes I would put the book down, forget about it, and return to it days later. Needless to say, this book was a little bit boring. In fact, it's almost 300 pages long. Seems like a lot of pages for chronicling a nineteen-year-old's life! All and all, if you're looking for a good biography about Shannon, I would recommend reading "Winning Every Day" by Shannon Miller, or "Shannon Miller: America's Most Decorated Gymnast" by Krista Quiner.
Book Description
A Latin textbook with readings from Ovid's "Metamorphoses."
Customer Reviews:
Latin on your own.......2007-08-23
This is a great book to learn latin at your own pace. I have been studying it for almost a month now. The explanations are clear, and the examples meaningful. I highly recommended it for anyone who wants to learn some latin.
Learning Latin - a new look.......2007-04-03
I found this book very useful and, if I were learning Latin from scratch as a youngster I expect it would have proved more interesting than the volumes I did work with. Of course, being American, the declensions are in the "wrong order" but this is a minor nuisance. Interesting exercises and additional information on Roman life and mores, mythology and magic.
Great for self-study and study groups.......2005-12-16
Goldman's text is wonderful for someone desiring to learn Latin on their own. From the second chapter onwards, all the readings consist of revised excerpts from Ovid's Metamorphoses. As you are taught more grammar and vocabulary, she gradually introduces more and more of the original into the readings until you are reading what Ovid actually wrote. And although there is no answer key, the excercises (of which there are plenty) are usually of just the right difficulty: just hard enough to help you in learning Latin, but not so hard that you can't figure them out on your own.
I would also recommend the accompanying workbook, which is a little more difficult, but does include an answer key.
Salvete Omnes.......2004-12-03
Those Romanophiles lacking proper schooling in Latin must take the pains to teach themselves the language. There are dozens of Latin textbooks in circulation. How is one to decide among them for the best tool in self-study?
The most standard text in North America used by universities and high schools is Frederick Wheelock's Latin. Unfortunately Wheelock's Latin does not commend itself to self-study. It is extremely grammar intensive from the beginning and may overwhelm those without the aid of an instructor. The readings are also mind numbingly dull, concentrating mostly on Cicero's insipid Stoic philosophy.
A little known alternative to Wheelock is Latin Via Ovid. This textbook introduces Latin's complicated grammar in less intensive, more manageable installments. As one might expect from the title, the reading passages are based on Ovid's poetry, specifically on his Metamorpheses. Here one can enjoy the colorful tales of Roman mythology instead of Cicero's dry lecturing. The text begins with a simplified version of Jupiter's rape of Europe, then progresses to more complex passages regarding the Trojan War.
The combination of delightful reading passages and manageable grammar exercises earns this book high marks for independent study. The text contains the usual exercises, charts, dictionaries, and cultural readings one expects from a language book. An optional workbook is available (for a cheap price), as are audio tapes (for a considerably greater price).
The proof is in the pudding, as they say. I've tried at least three or four textbooks in my Latin studies and discarded them all. They were all too complicated and boring to sustain my interest in independent study. With Latin Via Ovid I have progressed through the first few chapters with remarkable speed. Those who for some reason detest Roman mythology may find another text more suitable. Otherwise, I highly recommend this product.
Delightful book for learning Latin.......2004-11-05
If you're learing Latin on your own and this is one of your first books, you may enjoy getting the recordings that go with this book. Even though pronouncing Latin is not hard, it helps to get used to it and it's more fun going through the book with recordings.
The wonderful thing about this book is that all the lessons consist of beautiful stories from Ovid's Metamorphosis. Instead of learning Latin by memorizing disjointed words, from the very beginning you get to read several paragraphs of text. You may discover that you already know more Latin than you thought. The stories are so enjoyable to read that you'll feel eager to continue until you get to the end of the book and discover how much you've learned almost effortlessly.

This book has wonderful pen and ink drawings of womens, mens, children and accessories fashions. A great book for fashion drawing students as well as giving a good feel for that era.
Authentic 1930's fashion illustrations.......1998-08-24
This is a very good reference book. It does not show you the little details that photo books of fashion can provide, but the illustrations give you a good feel for the attitude of 1930s fashion. It is full of pen&ink style renderings of men, women and children's clothing. The drawings are also copyright free....
