This is without a doubt one of the best regional travel guides I've ever had. If you plan on exploring the GA coast this book is priceless. I only wish they would publish a new edition with a few updates.

I love the Georgia Coast and this book is the best book I've ever seen about this area even though I've spent a lot of time in and around Savannah. I've learned alot by reading this book. Get this book if you are interested in history, outdoors, hiking, fishing, etc. It also has alot of access info, resturants and lodging.

This beautifully illustrated book is about a frog that is concerned with his diet. Every page is filled with action and adventure for this little guy who asks the question, "Do you know what I can eat?" He asks every animal that he meets and they send him on a wild goose chase. He starts off by asking a Long-eared bat, who sends him to ask the owl, who sends him to ask the opossums, then the deer, then the egret, and so on. The final animal that the frog talks to is the alligator that tries to eat him. This book was full of action and it introduces the young reader to the different types of animals that can be found in the Okefenokee Swamp. Another book that I had to read repeatedly to my daughter.

/Deep in the Swamp/ is comprised of two parts. In the first part, charming rhymes introduce young children to the flora and fauna of a swamp. Each animal has a different number of babies, which allows children to practice counting as they move through the book. The second part is comprised of more expository discussions of the animals and plants from the first part, which should keep the attention of older children. The whole book is beautifully illustrated and captivated my two-year old.

This is really a nature photography book, not an art book........2006-11-27

Okefenokee by Lucian Niemeyer (164 pages) contains about 115 nature photographs and about 15 photos of people or of swamp dwellings. There are at least two photographs of artistic note. The photo on page 24 features an egret in the middle with a dramatic cypress to one side, its trunk resembling a swirling woman's dress. The photo on page 30 shows the exquisite greens of foliage, reddish browns of a row of cypress, and the deep forest blues of the water.

Nearly all of the photos in the Okefenokee book are straight nature photography, with little attempt at doing "art." Many of the photos are close-ups of plants and insects, for those interested in that sort of thing. The reproductions are a bit too large, resulting a lack of quality and focus in some of the images. The camera's aperture was too wide in some of the photos, again result in deterioration of focus. For example, an out-of-focus twig ruins the alligator photo on page 120, while out-of-focus foreground foliage ruins one or two other photos. The author seems to believe that there is some virtue to taking alligator photographs in the wild (where the pictures quality will usually be poor because of the difficulty of getting close to the animal, that is, because of intervening branches, and lack of depth of field). This type of virtue, arguably, does not even exist. The author should have taken the alligator photographs in a controlled natural preserve, or in a zoo featuring a natural-looking habitat (especially for close-ups of an alligator head, for example).

All of the photos are in brilliant color, and none of these has a monochromatic quality. TWO STARS as an "art book." But perhaps FOUR STARS as a "nature book."

The Okefenokee swamp book might be contrasted with the following Atchfalaya swamp book. Seasons of Light by Greg Guirard is a 142 page hardcover book. It contains about 70 nature photographs, which are mostly medium range photographs of the Atchafalaya Swamp, and about 20 photographs of fisherman, swamp homes, and the like. Most of the photographs take up the entire page. The emphasis of the nature photographs is on different qualities of light, for example, sifting through cypress trees, the golden morning light, or the fiery evening light. Some of the photographs are truly glorious, for example a picture of an egret in the distant center surrounded by cypress stumps resembling a king's crown (page 16); stripes in the water's surface and hovering mist (page 28); an egret flying low over the water with an angled branch providing a strong anchor point (page 30); and a parallel array of four tree trunks with an array of parallel sunrays (page 33). The colors in all of the photographs are of a subdued quality, and the color tends to be monochromatic. The artist, Greg Guirard, does a good job at developing the subject matter, and refrains from hopping from topic to topic. Developing the topic means, for example, showing the same scene in early morning and also at twilight, or showing the same scene during a wet season and also during a dry season. What happened to editing?.......2005-12-02

Although I found this text interesting, and mostly informative, the practice of editing seems to have slipped through the cracks. And for this purpose, I offer my eye for future editions! The order of content, as well as combining similar themes, could have been a bit more well thought out.

This book is a must have for anyone interested in PR. It is up to date and illustrates all the relevant forces working in PR. It also outlines application and startegy for an effective PR campaign. Along with this book, I would also recommend Michael Levine's Guerill PR Wired, which is also a must have for anyone remotely interested in PR.

Eighth Edition of a Classic.......2007-01-11

From the very first page this book gives a good introduction into the daily life of a professional account executive a public relations firm. This is designed to ltet the student know how his workday is likely to be spent. Perhaps in eight editions they've learned how to approach students.

That brings up the question of what's new in the eighth edition. One important step is the new chapter on Conflict Management. This has become very critical in today's world as investigative reporters are constantly seeking conflicts to spread to the public. There's a new 'casebook' at the end of every chapter that presents a situation in depth that is left as a discussion subject for the student or the class. Finally the book is completely revised to use up to date in areas as diverse as salary ranges or notable public relations campaigns such as those mounted by John Kerry and George Bush.

This is the student edition of the book which contains a 64 page practice test at the end of the book.

This has a lot of details for beginners learning the computer. I highly recommend this book for any age.

Good for Beginners.......2005-01-13

This book is certainly not for people rated expert.. or even intermediate users. Those two groups are already using email and browsing the internet. They are also able to find out most of the information written in this book by basic internet searching. I would however recommend this book for beginners.. whether absolute beginners or those who are still struggling to do anything worthwhile.

The book is well laid out, simple to follow and does have some good tips. However there are also common sense items discussed like how to name the file you are saving and where to put it so as to find it again.

Minor point, but part 1 discusses printing a document, however it is not until part 10 that it touches on how to connect and setup a printer :)

this is a really good book. it is a must have for computer lovers. it is the best book i ever read.........
