Book Description

The Book That Started A Revolution

Since its original publication in 1975, this groundbreaking work has awakened millions of concerned men and women to the shocking abuse of animals everywhere -- inspiring a worldwide movement to eliminate much of the cruel and unnecessary laboratory animal experimentation of years past.

In this newly revised and expanded edition, author Peter Singer exposes the chilling realities of today's "factory forms" and product-testing procedures -- offering sound, humane solutions to what has become a profound environmental and social as well as moral issue. An important and persuasive appeal to conscience, fairness, decency and justice, Animal Liberation is essential reading for the supporter and the skeptic alike.

5 out of 5 stars A great argument.......2007-03-30

I read this book about five years ago, and around then I was toying with the idea of being a vegetarian. This is the book that convinced me to stay the course. Although this book doesn't say everything, it doesn't need to. I certainly wouldn't call it the bible of vegetarianism either. Basically, this book, from my memories 5 years ago, was in 2 sections. First, there was a short section on animal testing and animal use in labratory science. Some of the things he details are absurd, such as an experiment that puts chimpanzees in dark isolation in inverted cones and see if they suffer depression (hmm, can anyone guess the results?), and one wonders if these were mostly ill-concieved experiments and not representative of the norm of science. Actually, I'll tell you. It's not. Most lab animals are treated fairly in science, although the same cannot be said for product testing. I know this because I've taken biologial classes and studied. Scientists need healthy specemins to experiment on. However, the fact does remain that scientists are far too cavalier with the well-being of sentient creatures. THe second section is an argument against our meat industry. The atrocities at these factory farms is well documented, and this book isn't inaccurate. He also presents a fairly convincing argument that animals do indeed have feelings. There is one argument that I remember really well. If we are justifying our treatment of animals by claiming that we are intellegent, then how do we justify inhumanely testing on a chimpanzee while actually assisting mentally retarded people who are less intellegent then smart chimpanzees? Shouldn't we be testing on them or eating them for food? Basically, he presents lots of arguments like the above, tackling it from a philosophical perspective. In the end, he builds a very solid case for vegetarianism, and it made an impression on my young mind that turned me to a clean and moral lifestyle. This review refers to the old version.

5 out of 5 stars A shot across the bows.......2007-01-11

This is one of the first accounts of what was to become one of the most contoversial movements in the world. Peter Singer, a moral philosopher, argues about the ethics of eating meat, biomedical experiments on animals, cattle farming, the meat industry, and other related topics. Written with his characteristic lucidity and clarity, this is no jittery, woolly, 'fascist animal rights lobby' book, but an intellectually rigorous, philosophically grounded tract on what it means to be human and what duties we owe other species who share the world with us. Clear-eyed, substantiated with impeccably-researched data and facts, and radiant with a moral energy that has all but left academic philosophical writing, it gives much-needed credibility to a burning, and often much abused and misrepresented, issue. Read him.

5 out of 5 stars Future, Environment, Planet, Children, Health.......2007-01-10

If you care about the future of our planet, our health or about anything at all, read this eye opening book. You will see that real environmentalists do not eat meat. Where do we draw the line between what is a pet and what is a meal? This book may enlarge your circle of compassion to include animals that currently have no laws to protect them, farm animals, research animals, rodeo and circus animals. Please read Singer and others like him. Our world will be a more peaceful and cleaner place. There would be no starvation if we all were vegan.

5 out of 5 stars the animal rights bible.......2006-12-13

The title tells it all, this book truly is the bible for animal rights. Singer covers everything in the book and he gets deep with it. I really enjoyed this book. I also quoted Singer in a term paper i wrote about animal testing my freshman year in college. It just full of all the knowledge you should and need to know.

5 out of 5 stars Singer Exposes the (Hidden) Truth.......2006-12-10

Singer examines cruelty to nonhuman animals in the United States and Britain mostly (but also in a few other countries in Europe). This is a must read for anyone supporting practices that harm animals (the meat industry and also animal experimentation). Written in the 1970s, it is still relevant today. His argument is extremely thorough, and he goes further to explain that a vegetarian diet will help humans and the environment as well as nonhuman animals, although his focus is on stopping the suffering. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Book Description

The first anthology of writings on the history, ethics, politics and tactics of the Animal Liberation Front, Terrorists or Freedom Fighters? features both academic and activist perspectives and offers powerful insights into this international organization and its position within the animal rights movement.

Calling on sources as venerable as Thomas Aquinas and as current as the Patriot Act—and, in some cases, personal experience—the contributors explore the history of civil disobedience and sabotage, and examine the philosophical and cultural meanings of words like "terrorism," "democracy" and "freedom," in a book that ultimately challenges the values and assumptions that pervade our culture. Contributors include Robin Webb, Rod Coronado, Ingrid Newkirk, Paul Watson, Karen Davis, Bruce Friedrich and others.

5 out of 5 stars Taking action for the animals.......2007-07-01

In this day and age, and especially in this country, where the words "freedom" and "terrorism" have become inextricably linked, "Terrorist or Freedom Fighters, Reflections on the Liberation of Animals" is a sobering reminder of who it is that has never been free and never will be free as long as human ignorance and greed exists.

I probably like many thousands or even millions of people are aware of the atrocities committed on animals, but who always kept those thoughts buried because our culture believes that humans have dominion over the animals. Dominion maybe, but with that power comes an incredible responsibility to care for them and see that they are treated with respect and compassion.

Certainly the mere fact of being a meat eater or wearing any sort of leather clothing would have to invoke some sort of thought regarding the processes whereby animals are turned into a meal or clothing. It doesn't take much of an imagination to envision this action even for some of us with the least creative of imaginations.

The arrogance of the human race is on full view in "Terrorist or Freedom Fighters and editors Steven Best, PhD and Anthony J. Nocella, II assemble a who's who in the animal and environmental rights movements to provide a collection of essays that call attention to the need to liberate animals from the hands of those who would torture, maim, kill and pervert them for sake of human proliferation and superiority.

The reader is given a glimpse into the origins of the radicalized animal liberation movements in both the UK and the US. A group calling itself "Bands of Mercy" began in Britain in 1972. Formed by Ronnie Lee and Cliff Goodman the group took its name from a 19th century youth wing of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). Their mission was simple, to take direct action against the deadly practice of fox hunts calling it "active compassion." After being arrested and imprisoned in 1974, Lee and Goodman split up in 1976. Goodman decided to take the legal route to animal liberation but Lee knew better. It was time for a revolution. Together with the remnants of the "Bands of Mercy" and two dozen new recruits, Lee formed the "Animal Liberation Front"(ALF). It wasn't until six years later that America got its own "Animal Liberation Front," its first direct action being the liberation of over thirty cats from the labs of Howard University.

None of the essays are gratuitous in their depiction of the horrors committed on animals - but the few words that do describe how we as humans treat animals provide compelling evidence of why direct action by groups such as the ALF is necessary.

Other essays cover everything from why direct action is necessary or unnecessary, the use "consequent anger" from a review of methods employed by St. Thomas Aquinas, to the comparison of ALF to the Jewish resistance movement of World War II and Abolitionist movement during the 1800's.

Some essays are anonymous such as one from the Western Wildlife Unit of the ALF talking about "what a handful of warriors can do" and what they must do. Others are personal such as the essay by Rod Coronado an ALF member. Written with passion and emotion, Coronado gives an account of his direct actions and his subsequent encounters with the FBI.

Perhaps the most disturbing and for me, most depressing, is the last essay by Best himself entitled, "It's War! The Escalating Battle Between Activists and the Corporate-State Complex." It details for us what only few know or even want to know - how our liberties have been eroded for the sake of security, empiricism, jingoism and corporate interest. And I can see how we as Americans have bought into it. Best says, "a new civil war is unfolding-one between forces hell-bent on exploiting animals and the earth for profit whatever the toll, and the activists steeled to resist this omnicide tooth and nail." It was at this point in the book that I began wondering if the guys who took action in the Boston Tea Party were rolling in their graves.

Best describes the steps the government has taken in clamping down on anyone who even utters "a discouraging word" against it. Indeed it seems as though the skies in America are "cloudy all day." He defines the government's definition of terrorism and gives ample example as to why anyone with the slightest intention of standing up for the animals, or the planet or anything for that matter, needs to think twice and then think again. I for one was extremely appreciative of this chapter.

This book, no, this handbook, is a must read for anyone who has even the slightest intention of standing up and speaking out for the liberation of all animals. It is a primer for the cause of animal liberation and the direct action that is needed to meet that end.

When George W. Bush uttered those famous words, "you're either with us or against us" little did he realize that he was speaking on behalf of the ALF and other groups whose mission is one of compassion for all animals, to take direct action in liberating a species who knows all too well what it's like to be on the short end of the stick.

5 out of 5 stars best book on animal liberation .......2006-10-02

After anyone reads this book they will look at radicals with logic, reason, and a compassionate heart. This book, more then any other animal rights book from Animal Liberation by Singer or The Case for Animal Rights by Regan, stands far above them all. While at the same time all of those books are outstanding and must be read. The anthology approach of gathering many people together to write on an important topic should be done on all critical topics, bravo Best and Nocella. I now know so much more about different viewpoints and a strong stance to debate the use of direct action.

5 out of 5 stars Superb!.......2006-09-01

Terrorists or Freedom Fighters is a revolutionary conglomeration of individual viewpoints regarding the Animal Liberation Front. The book is not only thorough in its historical coverage, it includes the voices of many individuals, female and male, academics and activists, young and old.

Before one can make a value judgement concerning the ALF, she/he should be required to read this book, which explians the mindset and the psychological reasoning that fuels such radical actions as economic sabotage. Wonderfully organized and put together.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Philosophy Book .......2006-08-03

With more than 20 authors from around the world, this book examines, theorizes, and professes, an outstanding concept, animal liberation in action. From academics to activists finally a book about the Animal Liberation Front - ALF. The ALF is an international nonviolent underground organization that has been around since 1976. This book should be a recommended read for every environmental and philosophy class. It is well edited and organized. If you enjoy stories, theory, philosophy, animal advocacy, or revolutionary struggles, you must read this book.

    Book Description

Radical environmentalism and its progeny, "eco-terrorism," is a modern phenomenon. It is a movement far removed from the elite conservationists of the late 1800s and the mainstream environmental groups that emerged later. Drawn from the same pool of concerned individuals who comprise memberships in groups like Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, and the Wilderness Society, disaffected environmentalists have turned from political lobbying to direct action in the form of widespread property destruction and other types of crime and terror. Here, the author exposes the activities of radical groups determined to make their mark in the movement to protect the earth and its creatures from those they view as predators. He covers the major groups as well as less well-known ones and provides a careful portrait of who they are, what they do, and how to address them. The growth, from the 1980s through the present day, of organizations involved in eco-terror is noticeable and significant. Such groups have caused millions of dollars worth of damage throughout the country. The FBI estimates that the ALF/ELF have committed more than 600 criminal acts in the United States since 1996, resulting in damages in excess of $43 million. Tactics include pulling up survey stakes, tree-spiking, arson, and other methods. Most groups will claim responsibility for their actions, just as other types of terrorist groups will take responsibility for theirs. Eco-Terrorism takes an objective look at the most radical groups and their terrorist activities in the United States, including case examples and analysis of the methods and rhetoric the groups employ. It uncovers the losses both to individuals and the community as a result of these methods, and it describes the ideologies, motivations, history, and activities of the political movements that have been labeled environmental terrorism.

    Book Description

To what extent can animals be regarded as part of the moral community? To what extent, if at all, do they have moral rights? Are we wrong to eat them or to hunt them? Is the use of animals for scientific research justified? And can the ideas behind animal liberation be squared with those of the environmental movement?

This is the first book to provide a thorough and reasonably impartial explication of the arguments put forward on all these issues. It is Taylor's strong belief that, whatever our own views on these contentious issues may be, we benefit by exploring them more thoroughly, and also by understanding and evaluating the arguments of those who may disagree with us. He traces the background of these debates from Aristotle to Darwin, and he provides fair-minded commentaries on the positions of such influential contemporary philosophers as Peter Singer, Tom Regan, R.G. Frey, and Peter Carruthers.

5 out of 5 stars The Consumate Review of the Animal Rights Issues/Arguments.......2003-10-25

It's fairly rare to find books that can take you from little to no knowledge in a given area of debate, and then put you in a position to jump in to it right away; this book does that. It's the kind of book that is accessible enough and certainly thorough enough to serve as a defining text for the issue. Also, it's just recently been updated, actually.

    5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!.......2007-01-08

Ingrid Newkirk is a hero, a genious, and a revolutionary. God bless her in every way for everything she has done for animals.
The book is absolutely wonderful...I finished it in 3 days!!! The only reason I put it down is because my eyes started to hurt after reading for 2 hours. This book stole my heart and encouraged me to do what I have been doing to protect animals (im a vegan and an animal advocate).
This book is full of action, emotion, relates to real life, and it will make you cry as well as sigh of relief every time you read about ALF's success at the end of each chapter.
It is a masterpiece that has painted beauty of our fellow non-humans and ugliness our own species who have inflicted such cruelties upon innocent animals. It is a masterpeice that paints courage and strength, conviction and determination of those who have put their own lives in danger to selflessly help those who need our help the most.
ITS A MUST READ!!! IT IS WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY SPENT!!! YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!!! Please be kind to animals and protect them by any means necessary. God Bless You All!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2006-05-11

That is all I have to say about this book: WOW! It has opened my mind to the life of an animal liberationist. As I was reading it, it felt like I was right there with Valerie, helping her open the cages. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat, with your adrenaline rushing constantly. I would highly recomend this book to any one that is interested in the animal liberation movement.

5 out of 5 stars It doesn't matter who you are; you should know about this........2006-01-31

I came to this book not knowing whether or not I supported the actions of the ALF. I'm an animal activist, but I wasn't sure if I would go so far as to support property destruction in name of a political cause. So I read it.

Besides entertaining (the stories of animal rescue are very suspenseful), this book really shined a light on the ALF for me. I've heard of the philosophy and so on, but this provided an actual account, though perhaps second-hand (necessarily), of how and why the ALF in the US was started.

By the end, liking the book for me wasn't a matter of whether I agreed or not with taking beagles out of labs. It's a great book, it has great stories and very interesting and compelling philosophy. No matter what side you sit on, at some point you'll be rooting for the "underdog" while reading this book. And for all you know, you may wind up supporting every action described.

    4 out of 5 stars Great Read.......2005-06-29

This book is a good book for getting people educated about animal rights and the abuses that are out there. Well written and to the point. As far as the review that gave this 1 star and said it created a "third use" - ( that being sarcastically using people in experiments instead of animals ) I agree - and he should be first to go. It's about the only way he could achieve empathy of any sort.

4 out of 5 stars Real Life Suspense Thriller.......2004-07-01

This was as good as any fictional suspense thriller. I was on the edge of my seat as the ALF conducted their raids, at all times trying to evade being detected or arrested. After reading this, you will realize the foolishness of most animal experimentation and the greediness and callousness of those who do it. Why hasn't this been made into a movie? There are a lot of young Hollywood vegetarians who could star in it!

      Book Description

This timely and provocative book examines the theories behind the most commonly held contemporary assumptions about animal rights. Focusing on the writings of prominent pro-liberation activists such as Peter Singer, Tom Regan and Mary Midgley, Michael P. T. Leahy argues that the animal rights movement is based upon a series of fundamental misconceptions about the basic nature of animals--beliefs which define them rationally, emotionally, and morally in too human terms. Leahy gives particular emphasis to the writings of Ludwig Wittgenstein and his highly influential philosophy of language, and concludes that much of our talk about animals is dangerously anthropomorphic and encourages us to elevate them to quasi-human status. He examines such crucial issues as animal experimentation, the use of animals for food and fur, animals in captivity and vegetarianism.

      1 out of 5 stars Absolute rubbish.......2005-12-31

      1 out of 5 stars Semantics.......2004-08-09

The purpose of this book is to use semantic tricks in order to attempt to justify needless institutionalized violence against non-human animals.

      2 out of 5 stars A for effort, F for acheivement.......2004-04-21

I rate this book as two stars rather than one because the author has at least made an effort at producing a philosophical justification for his pro-exploitative position, however incoherently this is argued.

The author considers that it is the presence of language that give humans sufficient self awareness to have moral rights, and that all animals lack this awareness. The authors arguments are however incoherent, rambling and very hard to understand even for a reader such as myself with some understanding of philosophy.

The author displays woeful ignorance not only of recent studies into the philosophy of mind, but in modern linguistics - surprising for somebody whose arguments stand or fall on linguistic premises. The presence of language-less human adults (as recounted by Steven Pinker in "the language instinct")counters Leahey's arguments. Such humans presumably can be expoited at will according to Leahey's logic. Yet once these people had been taught language, all had a great deal to say about their experiences as languageless humans, and all showed that they had a high level of self awareness.

His arguments are not only rambling and incoherent, but often contradict themselves. When arguing for the continuation of fox hunting for example, the author uses the argument both that foxes are vermin that should be wiped out, and that hunting helps in the conservation of foxes! He is obviously confused.

If you want a book that will provide a well reasoned argument to continue with exploitative practices regarding animals, then I suggest you look elsewhere. In my opinion the philosophical case for animal liberation has been won. The best arguments against liberation come from Michael Fox and Roger Frey. And it should be noted that even these arguments failed to convince their authors as they later came over to the animal liberation side.

      1 out of 5 stars Appaling........2003-11-10

      "Reviewer: A reader from Boston
I just want to register my support for this book. I think that animals should be freely killed, eaten, and processed into useful products for humans. We need many more books like this one in our day."

That was a review from another reader. They gave it 5 stars by the way. I hope he finds these useful products to be what they are- unneeded. Meat is full of cholesterol, saturated fat, meat eaters are altogether unhealthier than non-meateaters. It is disgusting, their arrogance towards other living creatures. You have no right to use, exploit, torture or kill another animal for your own benefit.

      1 out of 5 stars He stinks.......2001-12-22

5 out of 5 stars How The U.S. ALF Began..........2002-04-12

Before I read this book, I knew very little about the ALF (Animal Liberation Front). I assumed that they must have been a radical, "terrorist-like" organization. After reading this book, however, I gained a much greater understanding and appreciation for what the ALF is, and what they do for animals. This fast-paced book (I could hardly put it down!) tells the story of how ordinary people wanted to make a difference in the lives of many helpless and defenseless animals who have been imprisoned in our country's laboratories. I felt a deep connection to the founder of the American ALF, Valerie. She, and her associates (Josh, Bear, and Edna) are truly American heroes. They all had the courage to stand up to the many shameless institutions that support needless animal suffering. This book could change your life...

      5 out of 5 stars Compassion.......2000-04-23

Only through respect for all creatures can we have true respect for ourselves. This book gave me a new insight into what goes on in the animal liberation front and in the labrotories. The people in this book are heros to the animals. I was glad that "Valorie" realized violent direct action was wrong and did not get involved with it. "I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection from man, from the cruelties of man."-Ghandi

1 out of 5 stars Sick people and even sicker books.......1999-12-29

Ingrid Newkirk is a crazy person with a lack of any value for human kind. The ALF is a terrist grope who bomb and hurt people in the name of animals. Its one big money making dream dreamed up by yours truly Ingrid Newkirk . They should lock them all up and through the key away ! Please check out some of the FBI reports about these people before you support them in buying there book..... This grope has been in the news for bombing labs and raiding animal farmers around the world. One of Ingrid Newkirk sayings is the life of an ant and that of a child has the same value. These are sick....sick people.

5 out of 5 stars What you don't know can hurt other living creatures!.......1999-12-07

This book was an eye-opener for me. Seeing what goes on in labratories in the name of so-called science was unbelievable and heartwrenching. It angered me to learn that my tax-dollars pay for a large portion of this suffering.

You will be shocked when you read about the experiments, the animals' living conditions, the lack of medical care, and the pain and suffering these animals endure druing their short lives. And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that a large portion of these experiments are USELESS when applied to human beings.

You will get up-close and personal with some of the members of the ALF. They're not rebels. They are normal people like you and I - yet they have unbelievable compassion and respect for all creatures. They are the voices for those that cannot speak.

As Alice Walker wrote "The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites or women for men"

5 out of 5 stars The most amazing book I've ever read!!.......1999-03-20

Ingrid Newkirk's Free The Animals! really opened my eyes to the terrible cruelties forced upon animals in our society. I found myself laughing, crying, and even cheering for Valerie and all of the people who helped her. It's nice to know that there are people in the world today who will speak up for those who can't speak.

      Book Description

The first book on language and nonhuman oppression--and the most progressive animal-rights book to date--Animal Equality shows that deceptive, biased words sustain injustice toward nonhuman animals. Speciesism (prejudice against nonhuman animals) survives through lies. Animal Equality's compelling evidence of nonhuman thought and emotion debunks language that characterizes other animals as unreasoning or insensitive. Vivid descriptions of hunting, sportfishing, zoos, aquaprisons, vivisection, and food-industry captivity and slaughter reveal the cruelty that misleading words legitimize and conceal. Animal Equality also uncovers the speciesist attitudes and practices underlying much sexist and racist language. Every animal--nonhuman or human--deserves equal consideration and protection, Joan Dunayer argues. Offering pronoun, vocabulary, and style guidelines, she proposes new language that will bring us closer to nonhuman liberation.

Joan Dunayer knows her subject and knows how to write. I enjoyed reading her book and learnt a lot.

5 out of 5 stars Language is powerful.......2002-07-08

Joan Dunayer compellingly argues that the cruel treatment of nonhuman animals (in vivisection, entertainment, sport, rearing/slaughter for food consumption, etc.) is often masked by the euphemisms we employ. We are all familiar with our tendency to call the flesh of dead cow "beef," but Dunayer digs deeper and calls for an end to other common practices that undermine the individuality and unique personality of each and every nonhuman animal that exists. "Wildlife management" groups facilitate hunting. "Animal welfare committees" often oversee research in which countless nonhumans are blinded, subjected to burns, and killed. Zoos market themselves as "wildlife conservationists," imprisoning sentient beings in cages and tanks, depriving them of natural stimuli, and driving them to repetitive and self-destructive behaviors.

Dunayer dispels the myth that language separates humans from nonhumans. Two of her many examples include Alex the African gray parrot who can count, identify objects, and convey fear and sorrow (all using human English), and Washoe the chimpanzee who learned American Sign Language then spontaneously taught it to her son.

The author draws analogies between the current treatment of nonhumans and past abuses of human slaves and women. (At one time both human slaves and women were not considered "persons," much like nonhumans today.) Words like emancipation and abolitionist are resurrected and applied to a cause just as worthy of our concern and immediate action.

The book incorporates a handy thesaurus of words that can be used as alternatives to speciesist terms (e.g. use "flesh" or "muscle" instead of "meat," use "captor" or "keeper" instead of "caretaker") as well as style guidelines for countering speciesism (e.g. use the term animals to include all creatures, human and nonhuman, with a nervous system; avoid expressions that elevate humans above other animals, such as human kindness, the rational species, the sanctity of human life).

This book is a very important building block in making the world a better place for everyone.

5 out of 5 stars An Important Book.......2002-03-01

We use words not only to inform -- but to deceive and retain our biases. This important book shows how we use words to cover-up and desensitize ourselves to our abuse and cruelty toward other species. It shows how our use language to support our attitudes toward non-human animals as being things or "tools." Dunayer also compares our speciesist language with our expressions of gender bias -- we use the term "mankind" for humankind and "lower" animals for all but humans.

Even people who are sensitive to our more obvious speciesist epithets (like the use of "animal" or "subhuman" to refer to bad actions and "pig" to refer to human sloppiness) and our use of impersonal pronouns when referring to non-humans -- even such sensitized people might still find themselves not exactly "off the hook" (also speciesist).

The book includes a useful thesaurus of speciesist terms and substitute, preferred expressions, as well as a list of style guidelines.

Although this is not a book that one can read in one sitting, it is an important work for both people who care about our treatment and "use" of animals as well as those who care about how we use language.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant!! A Much Needed Book.......2002-02-26

This book is a MUST read!! Read it and "mind your bees and shrews."

5 out of 5 stars Is shooting a human also an act of kindness?.......2001-09-26

Animal Equality masterfully delves into the deep-seated bias the English language contains concerning nonhuman animals. Dunayer crosses many different areas of animal exploitation to show how our language is manipulated to erase the individuality of individuals, remove the space from which empathy can naturally develop, and to justify immoral and cruel actions. This book is a great resource for open minded people and linguists who wish to delve deeper into how the language we use shapes our own reality. Dedicated to ýall nonhuman animalsý, Animal Equality is one big step towards a kinder and more compassionate future; a future void of Speciesism. Learn how the use of simple words like, animal, reinforces our exploitation of nonhuman animals by reading this book.
