Great Book!.......2005-04-22

This book is another great in the series of A Baffled Parent's Guide. These books are thorough and complete - a coach's bible, especially a new coach. The book covers everything from basics of the game to working with the children and dealing with the parents. I highly recommend books from this series.

good book for beginning coaches.......2002-06-23

I have yet to coach a girls' softball team, but I am really interested in doing it. This book has some great advice on how to handle beginner players and their parents. The thing about this book that I found great was that it told you some characteristics to look for when selecting a pitcher, something that I would not have had a clue about doing. Highly recommended.

Excellent for beginner or experienced coach.......2002-05-11

This is an AMAZING book! Even if you have never coached, played, or even heard of softball, it helps you out. It breaks every aspect of the game down and puts it in simple terms so you can explain it to your team. It gives you practice advice and schedules as well as drills you can use for team members to improve, or establish, softball skills. It also gives you advice on how to become the best coach, dealing with gender issues and how to handle difficult parents. This book is a MUST for EVERY coach!

Excellent Coaching Book for New Coaches.......2001-04-28

I am not a parent but nonetheless, this book is excellent! This book gets right down to the heart of coaching. It tells you step by step how to teach someone how to throw, catch, pitch, hit and play every position. It also tells you what type of girl would be good for positions of pitchers and catchers which is important since most girls at this age have no experience in many positions. The drills have diagrams and there is glossary in the back to help with the terminology. There are not that many good softball coaching books (believe me I've looked), so grab this one!

I looked through lots of books at the Bookstore and I was looking more for ideas for practice and helping kids learn new skills. This book provides learning through games, strategies and many more useful tools. I think that keeping the kids busy and learning in practice with little idle time is essential. It also gives you a plan for the year per age group. This book has given me lots of ideas. Thanks.

Psychology of Coaching.......2001-05-07

This book is a great book to discuss the pshycological aspect of coaching. The book discussed what it means to be a coach and how to deal with parents. It did have a few drills at the end of the book that were somewhat helpful but overall this book didn't have a lot of useful information for myself. If you want a great book for coaching, buy "The baffled Parents Guide To Coaching Youth Softball".

Coaching Youth Softball.......2000-04-17

A more appropriate title would have been "The Psychological Aspects of Coaching Youth Softball". This book's strength is in that area. However, I was very disapointed in it's minimal discussion of specific drills (batting, defense, base running etc.)

As a first time league softball coach, I was looking for some pointers on teaching basic skills, drills, and organizing practices. Boy, does this book deliver. In simple prose, and with helpful diagrams, this book lays out a thoughtful approach to teaching every aspect of the game, and making it fun. I am beginning my first season with more confidence having read this book. Play ball!

surprisingly good.......2007-05-10

Although this is a mini-sized paperback that could easily fit into your shirt pocket, it's remarkably useful.

Each page typically has three columns: the leftmost is the English, the middle is the Farsi in romanized letters, and the right column is the Farsi in Arabic script. But it's not merely a phrasebook: there are paragraphs scattered throughout to relieve the monotony.

For example, there are many, many notes on culture and linguistic usage. Considering how much information this book contains, it's astonishing it's so small. If the pages were made bigger, it could conceivably serve serve as a freshman-level text!

Really after studying from this I was impressed by how handy I became in Farsi, although in all honesty this is likely ascribable neither to my perspicacity nor the boon of this volume, but simply to the fact that Farsi is Indo-European, and so much of its grammar and sensibilities are readily apprehended by a Westerner.

But this book was a major help. When I reflect on how little it cost me versus how much use I got out of it, Lonely Planet's "Farsi Phrasebook" may have been one of the most profitable purchases of my life.

Excellent value and quite unpretentious.......2007-01-10

An excellent little work, mainly through the obvious teamwork of author and editors in producing it to what must be a proven template by this publisher. I find I get endless and informative entertainment just by dipping into it. And you can do this on day one of learning Farsi, and just as enjoyably and profitably once your studies have advanced. Even the short dictionary section is very good. This is one Farsi language resource book that won't disappoint you.

A little bit of everything Persian. This would be a good suppliment to any language learning program and a "must have" for the person traveling to any of the Persian (Farsi) speaking countries. A very interesting compact book snd an excellent value.

What a good move I made by purchasing this book FROM Amazon!!!
I will be traveling out to the Middle East this year and have been trying to catch up with my Persian language, better known as Farsi. I have been receiving some tutoring, which was very well received, but this book has put me right on to where I want to be.
You will find this Persian phrasebook suitable for travelers with all those important questions you will need to ask at the airport, in the market when purchasing items, finding your way around, almost anything for that matter. I highly recommend this book to those traveling to the East and please keep it on you for easy reference. It is such a handy book and can fit right into the smallest pocket book or jeans pocket. Well done!!!

revolve does it again!.......2004-12-09

This new "edition" of Revolve contains the book of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. I found it to be very worthwhile, and for the first time in my life, I actually sat through and read the book of Job, as well as Song of Songs, without getting bored. This BibleZine has the same format as the previous Revolve, with even more questions, more info, and it is even nicer than its predecessor, the Revolve Complete New Testament. This is written in the New Century Version, which is very easy to read and understand. It is very eye-catching and even catches the attention of my LDS roommates who are shocked to see it as a portion of the Bible. I can't wait for other editions of Revolve, and I hope my parents' generation will see this as what it is: a ploy to get teen and college aged women to read the Bible, cover to cover, which is evangelism. Ever heard of reaching people where they are? Of course, I've met children's librarians who are so detached from the young people that they convieniently forget to buy the latest Gossip Girl or Princess Diaries books, and I even met one once who had an axe to grind with the likes of Junie B. Jones, Captain Underpants, and the American Girls Collection (All the while pondering what made kids, teens, and college students enjoy Harry Potter and the Series of Unfortunate Events so much). This book is highly recommended for anyone who has ever gotten stuck in the book of Deutoronomy and gave up reading the Bible for good. When all you see are boring school textbooks all day, regardless of how old you are, whatever you decide to read on your spare time had better be bright and attractive and bear no resemblance to your Psychology textbook.
