Book Description
This book treats a representative selection of all the varieties of shorelife that occur along the California coast from Monterey Bay north to the Oregon border.
Book Description
The landscape of New Mexico inspires a sense of peace, awe, and grandeur unlike any other state--and it contains some of the country's most remote and unexplored natural areas. For day hikers, campers, or backpackers planning a long trek, this guide is absolutely essential for charting your way through this rugged and dramatic landscape. Well-known writer Bob Julyan's precise and entertaining prose, combined with Tom Till's extraordinary photographs, lead the reader through hundreds of miles of breathtaking scenery.

A Hiker's Guide .......2007-09-21
This is a guide to a dream that is still unrealized -- a trail from Mexico to Canada that follows the Continental Divide. Like the Appalachian Trail which took decades to complete the Continental Divide trail is still in the making. Thus, the many complexities of finding a trail that in some places doesn't exist -- and in others has several alternatives for finding your way.
The maps, the photography, the detailed descriptions, the elevation profiles all combine to make this an outstanding guide. The guide divides the 700 miles of the CDT in New Mexico into 28 segments and describes each in detail for the hiker going south to north. You'll nead the description, especially near the Mexican border where "trail" is an exaggeration. Time to learn to use that GPS that's been gathering dust in my desk drawer.
The guide is a a bit heavy, so if I were carrying it on the trail I would tear out the needed sections. Also, it was published in 2001 and perhaps a new edition is needed. One would hope that there have been improvements in routing and marking the trail since then. As with the Appalachian trail progress toward completion is slow and opposition from landowners along the route is intense. It's a noble endeavor, however, to create what may become the longest and finest wilderness hiking trail on this planet.

Tall task, excellent performance.......2004-01-28
I completed the southern-most segment of the CDT, along with 4 other backpackers from Middle of Somewhere Expeditions. We (myself and the other trip guide) found the book to be as complete as possible, given the difficult current circumstances of the Bootheel area. The problems we encountered were mostly due to problems with the trail markings, or the complete LACK of a trail at all - not the book. Writing is excellent, and most all the information present was current. The "official" route chosen for that section was only established with the publishing of this book - in fact, our group were among the first people to navigate it. The bootheel section is an adventure - barbed wire fences, scrambling through deep canyons and over ragged peaks with no trail to follow, a wide variety of (sometimes dangerous) desert creatures, and spectacular scenery. Julyan's book (along with a GPS unit and some MapTech maps) got us through - and that's pretty impressive. Don't believe me? Try hiking that section.
A pre-hike impression of the Guide........2002-01-12
I have used the companion volume on a hike along the Colorado stage of the Divide trail. The format of that guide was excellent and the route description, although brief was accurate and most useful. My main criticism's of the Colorado volume are reserved for the Maps, reproduced from USFS sheets and inadequate in topographical detail, and the weight that for a trail Guide was rather heavy(too many nice photos, interesting but not essential bakground information, and heavy weight glossy paper).
The New Mexico volume is in an identical format and so it remains on the heavy side. I will have to pare it down into individual segments and post them ahead to post offices along the trail to be collected. However the maps are a great improvement as they are reproductions of Topo Sheets with all the necessary detail of topography and land forms to engender confidence in route finding when bushwacking. As with Colorado, waymarks are included that use latitude and longitude so entered on a GPS set it can be used to keep you on Trail. All the necessary information for re-supply and access to and from the Trail is included although I will have to test its accuracy when I am on Trail this spring. There is some complexity in the route choices along Stages 19 and 20 North of Pie Town that make for difficulty in following the sequence of pages but I guess that this will resolve itself when on trail. There is an inconsistency in continuity between the Guides as the New Mexico volume is written assuming a Hike proceeding Northward while the subsequent Colorado volume assumes a Southward going trek. Incidently the Wyoming guide reverts to a Northward progress again. I expect this guide to be an essential purchase for any thru hiker for it establishes a definitive route for the CDT through the state. I will comment again on opinion of the book when I get back from the Hike when I have had real use of it.

Book Description
Olmos/Jacobus' quick-reference dictionary provides nearly 2,000 terms in BOTH English and Spanish covering all the essential areas for real estate. Comprehensive coverage, easy-to-find definitions, simple explanations, terminology used on licensing examinations, and numerous illustrations make this a handy reference tool. This up-to-date bi-lingual dictionary is a Âmust have for practicing real estate agents, licensees and consumers.
Customer Reviews:
Okay if you only need only a few real estate terms........2006-05-13
In reality, any dealings in real estate also require terms in related fields, such as finance, taxes, accounting, banking, law, and more. This dictionary provides about 2,000 entries. A decent selection of terms pertaining to some areas of real estate. Realistically, a bilingual dictionary in real estate would need many more entries to properly cover this and related fields.
There are complete business dictionaries which cost about the same as this one. The Oxford Spanish Business Dictionary provides about 50,000 translations, and Webster's New World English-Spanish/Spanish-English Business Dictionary has over 100,000. That means that for each term in this dictionary there are 50 in Webster's New World English-Spanish/Spanish-English Business Dictionary.
If you buy one of these two you get thousands of real estate terms plus many thousands of terms that you are likely to need anyway if you work in real estate or related fields. Therefore, I recommend buying The Oxford Spanish Business Dictionary or Webster's New World English-Spanish/Spanish-English Business Dictionary instead of this one.
A superb resource for real estate salesmen.......2004-08-13
English-Spanish Real Estate Dictionary is a handy compilation of 2,000 real estate terms and definitions for quick translation from English to Spanish or Spanish to English. For maximum convenience, each English and Spanish definition is listed side by side; the first half of the book organizes the entries in English alphabetical order, the second half in Spanish alphabetical order. A superb resource for real estate salesmen, home owners, prospective home owners, and anyone seeking to pass the real estate licensing exam.

Good resource!.......2001-10-25
This is a very helpful resource in the field, but I didn't find it to be as beneficial as another source. Students who bought this dictionary complained of the high cost for low gain.
The content itself is excellent, though I couldn't always find the terms I sought. The bilingual explanations are helpful.
Buy this book at the used price and the other one and you will have most of the words you need.
Do not buy this one!.......1999-03-14
This book was the biggest disappointment! The translations were terrible and you would do better to buy a good English/Spanish Dictionary.
A disaster!.......1999-02-03
The translations of English terms into Spanish in this book are a disaster. Condition precedent is translated as "condición precedente," but it's actually called "condición suspensiva" in Spanish. Buydown is unhelpfully "translated" as "descuento de intereses buydown." The translation of "alienation" is misspelled: enajención [sic]. Party wall, which is muro medianero in Spanish, is mistranslated as "muro divisorio." Statute of frauds, which is el requisito de hacer constar un acto jurídico por escrito, is mistranslated as "estatuto sobre fraudes," which means "bylaws about fraud." Similarly, statutory lien, which should be "gravamen legal," is translated as "gravamen estatutario," which means "lien mandated by the bylaws." In short, you'd be better off not even looking at this book.

Customer Reviews:
The Bilingual Real Estate Bridge.......2007-03-14
I own this book and have found it very helpful when working with my clients that are more comfortable speaking Spanish first. I recommend this book to all Hispanic agents and anyone that wants to work with the Hispanic community. My friends that are taking the Real Estate test have found the book useful in helping them pass.
The complaint that this book does not include Spanglish what is Spanglish? The problem with Spanglish is...is it The Spanglish as spoken in California or AZ or New Mexico or Texas? With the exception of a few common words like garage (which is in the book) or parking Spanglish changes from area to area, state to state. The novelas that we all watch do not use Spanglish. The newscasts do not use Spanglish. We as agents are talking down to our clients by not learning and using the correct terms in Spanish and English.
Thank you,
Disappointed.......2006-08-25
I live and work as a Realtor in Southern California, so our Mexican-American community here is quite large. A great deal of my clients are Hispanic, most speak only Spanish. I am lucky that I am bilingual so I can therefore serve my Spanish-speaking clients quite well. However, I too, need help with the Real Estate "lingo" from time to time to translate the terminology correctly. I was very disappointed to see that this book was way too complicated, too legal sounding, too technical. The "definitions" or translations in this book needed definitions to explain the definitions! This book did not have any definitions for some very basic, Real Estate terms that we use here everyday, such as, "roof", or "septic tank", or "tile countertops", or just the word, "countertop". It was when I realized that Ms. Guerra had not even put the word "roof" in her book, that I realized that she probably does not know anything about Real Estate itself. That is too bad! I was indeed, very disappointed.
Thank you very much,
Realtor/Agente de Bienes Raices
The Bilingual Real Estate Bridge.......2005-05-08
provides a clear and precise explanation of the meaning of a particular word or term in English and Spanish and covers many terms in landscapping, construction and legal.
Nothing else like it!.......2005-04-05
Finally! Comprehensive real estate terms translated from English to Spanish. Not only does this book give you the translated term, it also gives you real life examples. Highly recommend to all professionals in Real Estate and Mortgage.

Great resource!.......2001-10-25
I tested this book out in a Real Estate Spanish course and found most of the terms requested by the students. This reference often had more terms than the more expensive counterpart. The explanations in both Spanish and English allow the realtor to explain difficult terms to the client without fully speaking the language.
This is a jam-packed, compact real estate glossary that is WELL WORTH the (money).
