This book is about cause, prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Breast cancer has two phases. The first one, from abnormal cells up to carcinoma in situ reverses with iodine. The second phase, invasion, is controlled by connective tissue thyroid hormone.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars every woman should read this book.......2007-09-26

I ordered two copies of this book. If every woman would read it, it would prevent a lot of needless suffering. Men ought to read it too because Dr. Derry tells the symptons of low iodine and low thyroid hormone which most every one has whether they be man or woman. I also recommend Dr. Brownstein's book on Iodine. These two books go hand in hand.

5 out of 5 stars Dr Derry reveals the simple facts in beating Breast Cancer.......2007-06-18

Dr David Derry, as with others like Dr Ignas Semmelweis, and Dr Charlie Teo, has braved the scorn of his colleagues in promoting the use of common sense, logic and clear thinking in Medicine!

His research has clearly revealed that diet is the main factor in combating Cancer. The statistics on the incidence of Breast Cancer in Japanese and Icelandic Women, as against those of European, American and Australians, are irrefutable!

Iodine has been proved to be invaluable in the fight against Cancer.

4 out of 5 stars Review of "Breast Cancer and Iodine" by Dr. David Derry........2007-05-13

Overall, I believe that this is a very good book, on a subject of enormous importance. There are some minor flaws, that should be

forgiven in light of the great amount of useful information it contains. Dr. Derry says, "I have addressed this book to women with breast

cancer." It would be more accurate to say that "I have addressed this book to the doctors of women with breast cancer." Women (and men, too)

without some scientific and medical background will find much of the text confusing, and this may discourage them from continuing to read

it, once started. If you order this book, Please keep on reading! You will find islands of clarity and wonderful information and insights if

you keep on going. Just gloss over the difficult parts, and look for the many gems that are there. I suggest that a breast cancer patient

who wants her doctor to take the information seriously, read the book, make notes on important parts, and thereby be in a position to carry

on an intelligent and informed conversation with the doctor.
A doctor who is not completely closed-minded should take note of the extensive references to good scientific work relating breast

cancer to iodine deficiency. If your doctor gets huffy at the idea that you, a mere layman, have brought in information new to him/her, I

suggest you fire him/her on the spot, and look for an open-minded one who is really interested in helping you.
Note: A good related book is "Iodine:Why You Need it, Why you can't live without it, by David Brownstein, M.D.

5 out of 5 stars Lugal's significantly reduced my fibroid breast disease!.......2007-05-12

After taking (doctor prescribed of course!) 3 drops, 2x per day for three months, I reduced the dose to 3 drops, once per day for three more months. I am now on a one drop per day maintenance dose. My breasts used to be so full of fibroids! Now they are almost completely smooth, with significant reduction in the fibroids that are left!
I am so grateful to my doctor and to those that support this simple, yet lifegiving remedy!

5 out of 5 stars A must read.......2007-01-03

excellent read. a must read for all, not just women! as a physician, I have learned a great many things medical school never taught.

      Book Description

The process of programmed cell death or apoptosis has, in the past decade, been shown to be centrally involved in the pathogenesis of the significant majority of human illnesses and injury states. The cellular attrition observed in most degenerative conditions is apoptotic in nature; conversely a failure of apoptosis has been proposed to underlie many forms of cancer. The central role of apoptosis in human disease clearly brings with it clinical promise; for example, the strong possibility exists that attenuation of apoptotic death will significantly modulate the severity of degenerative disorders. Similarly, conditions, such as cancer, autoimmune disease, psoriasis and endometriosis, in which aberrant cellular proliferation is observed, may benefit from enhanced rates of apoptosis. This book surveys the underlying molecular mechanisms of apoptosis, investigates its role in degenerative and other diseases, and evaluates potential therapies that will permit appropriate activation or inhibition of apoptosis in disease and injury states.

I have read all of Mr. Martin's books and I highly endorse "Into The Primitive". Detailed and well researched. "Trapper's Bible" is another book by Martin that is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars Top notch! A cut above the rest!.......1999-06-27

A top notch first rate book on survival. Not the same old stuff, but gives information on many items not seen in any other similar books. Well researched and well done!

I purchased these flash cards to help my family learn ASL as I have two hard of hearing children who are learning at school. The children like the pictures and often look through them on their own practicing the signs. My one complaint is that some of them have been simplified to be easier for small children with poor motor skills and the card does not show the correct sign.

I think signing is a valuable tool for communicating w/young babies who can't yet express w/words. These cards provide basic everyday used words
in simple sign language. My daughter uses them regularly and it's terrific.

These cards are great for learning basic signs with your kids. Older kids learn fast from the cards, and toddlers enjoy them too, but be sure to laminate them because they bend and tear easily in toddlers' hands. The pictures can also be used for communication before the signs are memorized because a child can point to what they want by finding the picture card.

5 out of 5 stars Salute the Salt; Sugar's On the Lamb........2005-10-04

This is an exquisite collection of sparkling stories by four great authors. Each story highlights a uniquely delightful twist, resulting in seraphim-fresh starlight (compared to the typical slobbery stuff).

I've rarely been drawn to short stories or books with collections of shorter works. When I take time to get into a book and memorize details, I like to stretch out for a while with that investment, which is why I seek series. But, I was pleasantly surprised that each of these stories was easy to get into, easy to read, and regularly called to me pleasantly to catch another bit. This type of collection is a great way to addict readers to each of the authors presented, which might be the plan!

If it weren't for Joanne Pence, I wouldn't have overcome my prejudice against short collections and holiday sticky syrup, so I read her story first, and savored every quarter-inch of it.

The Thirteenth Santa blossomed Rebecca & Richie from seedlings in the Angie & Paavo series, and the match making of this odd couple was perfecto! (Kissing fingertips in salute.). Rebecca was the perfect female to yank Richie out of the caricature woodwork and into the hot-light-reality of flesh-and-bones. Rebecca's displayed holiday loneliness, as she pranced around the precinct in solitary simplicity, shot an instant warmth into this reader, who had previously taken a mild dislike (as the author intended) of the female homicide inspector's romantic interference with Angie and Paavo.

The 13th's humor was entertainingly dark enough to dim the usual garish Christmas glare of sweet & light, and it exposed perfectly the type of cloistered chuckles big city policemen resort to, to save their sleigh bells during holiday cheer, especially when they're on duty and everyone else seems to be lapping up the luxury of home.

It was a hoot following Rebecca's periodically listing infractions under her breath, as Richie casually collected mini-crimes as her streetwise, unlikely sidekick. The violations were merely misdemeanors, so maybe that was why Rebecca couldn't build up any resistance or righteousness, and the hand cuffs stayed in storage. Or, maybe it was because she wasn't sure which way she'd use them once released from her (Pandora's) purse.

Loved the funny, geriatric, non-generic Santas, aging with realistic loss of various faculties, but without loss of spirit, which made the fun poked at-and-with them delightfully tasteful, especially through the spyglasses of their hilarious Mafiosa attitudes and accents. Being half Italian myself I can connect with the banter... though I'm not connected myself (as far as I know). Who knows, maybe if I were connected my sci fi and mystery series manuscripts would have already been on the International bookshelves! Yeah, yeah. All in good time ... and company.

The scene picked up to a higher plateau of tangy, balsamic spice, when Angie's "Momma Mia" (Serefina) brought the ingredients for edible gifts, and zapped the hilariously red-garbed, well-connected celebration with her background and presence.

There was also the great scene between Paavo and Rebecca, "To be or not to be" too typically "cop" during the holiday season when the geriatric Mafia joins the family party.

Loved the 13th's ending, too, with the short story ambiance closing the scene with hope and positive speculation, without losing its zing into an epistle of explanation.

For my tastes this was delightful entertainment at its holiday best, like true Italian pastries and constable humor, a bare essence of sweet with enough anise-seedy-spice to repel the gooey, parasitic type of overdone, overwhelming sentiment which usually has me avoiding holiday collections.

This is true warmth of spirit at its zesty best, no slobbers necessary but enough saliva for a sensual stew. This one I like.

And, I'm happy to report that each of the other three entries (even though Pence's story ended the sequence) follow the R&R (Rebecca & Richie) suit of enough sauce to liven the soup. I liked the fact that 2 of the 4 stories kept the mystery at the fore, with the romance as a non-graphic sideline; while the other 2 stories, being more romantically inclined, provided typically tangy, but tasteful sexual undertones.

Though I've read and reviewed nearly all Pence's culinary mystery series (which is one of the reasons for my reading her 13th Santa story first in this collection), I hadn't read any of the other 3 writers' work. I wasn't disappointed in their holiday offerings here, and am intrigued to expand my reading in the directions of McCoy, Page, and Ridgway.

These 4 authors are mature character and story builders. Maybe their genuine warmth and lack of hype enhances their abilities to write such sensitive human stories, without drowning in the soup.

I could go into the same detail with each story as I did for Pence, but I've passed the epistle mark. Maybe my gift should be to leave the other 3 to surprise, without any hype intended, except to kiss my fingertips again in salute for each!

(Go) Out on a Limb; (Meet) The Two Marys; (Kiss) The Twelve Frogs of Christmas; (Bless) The Thirteenth Santa.

Meet Christie Ridgway, Kathrine Hall Page, Judi McCoy, and Joanne Pence. (The words in parentheses are my teasers for each title.)

Blessings to all ... & pass the salt. Travel the Night with spirit and fun. Lighten up with the dawn when it comes. It usually arrives, just in time.

                    Working toward my sunrise,
                    Linda G. Shelnutt

4 out of 5 stars A collection of intriguing and individually unique stories .......2005-08-30

Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques

This collection of intriguing and individually unique stories is bound to make for some good fireside reading at this time of year.

In the first story of this collection, Out on a Limb by Christie Ridgway, readers meet Stacy Banks, an unassuming kindergarten teacher who never takes risks in her life. This year, just in time for Christmas, she decides to chance it and ask her sexy neighbor, Ryan, to attend a Christmas party with her. Clothed only in a dress made of wrapping paper, she heads down to the dock to catch him on his boat and invite him to be her date. Never could she have expected that this was about to become the most adventurous... and dangerous... night of her life.

The action is flying high in this story, with adventure after adventure for Stacy and Ryan. There are shoot-outs, drug cartels, and crooked cops, all with plenty of romance to round it out. Readers will like that they are kept guessing for much of the story, trying to figure out who the bad guys are and if Ryan is one of them. All Stacy wants is to try something new and get a little adventure in her life by asking Ryan out on a whim. When she gets much more than anticipated, how she deals with it is amusing, and makes the reader realize she's got spunk, even if she suppresses it normally.

The second story, The Two Marys, by Katherine Hall Paige, was probably this reviewer's favorite story in the series. Readers meet plucky Faith Fairchild who is called in to help a neighbor, Mary Bethany, who finds a newborn baby and a huge stack of cash in her goats' barn. Now Faith has to investigate to help Mary find the mother of the baby and why she felt it necessary to give up her child.

This was a story that helps to remind people what this time of year is all about. The parallels between this Christmas story and the original Baby born in a manger are heart-warming. Mary's life is her goats and that's all she's ever wanted in life. When a baby is given over to her, she finds out maybe there is more to life then her little farm and Bed and Breakfast after all. The mother of the child is a down on her luck; a young woman who wants only for her baby to have a better life then she has. The ending to this story is sad in some ways, a balancing of fate in others, and happy as well. Readers will finish this tale with a warm fuzzy feeling that love is the reason for the season.

The third story in this collection, The Twelve Frogs of Christmas by Judi McCoy, is a funny one, and the one paranormal story in the collection. Here readers meet Claire St. Germaine and Dr. Hugh Burton. Claire is a young woman making a go at her own jewelry design business who has temporarily taken on an additional duty of rescuing men sent to her as frogs she has to kiss to break the spell. Hugh is a professor at a university, whose specialty happens to be... yes you guessed it... frogs! When a rare and nearly extinct species that Hugh happens to be researching is sent to Claire, sparks fly and love blossoms.

This is a funny story bound to get some giggles out of the most finicky of readers. Readers are kept in the dark for most of the story as to who is sending the frogs to Claire and why, though the answers to those questions are revealed by the end. Hugh and Claire are unique individuals, and both stubborn in their own ways. When they butt heads over some amusing circumstances, readers feel the sparks flying and just know they'll make an interesting pair.

The final story in this collection, The Thirteenth Santa, by Joanne Pence, introduces readers to Inspector Rebecca Mayfield with the SFPD, who is investigating a murder of a man in a Santa suit found at a local shopping mall. Richie Amalfi is on a mission to take 12 old men, decked out in Santa suits, to a destination only he knows, when his van with the Santas in it disappears. He goes to Rebecca for help and when she thinks this may be linked to her murder investigation, she tags along to help him track down the wayward men and gets more then she bargained for.

This is a funny story, in a dry sort of way, and will appeal to readers. Rebecca and Richie make an interesting pair of detectives as they try to find answers to her investigation and track down the missing Santas. When the Mafia is mixed in, it gets even more interesting. This reviewer enjoyed how the author took the players and made many of them out as caricatures of mobsters and their cronies. There was a sarcastic bend to many of the humorous occurrences in the story that is sure to bring about a few laughs.

If readers are looking for a different sort of Christmas season story, then this is one that isn't to be missed.

5 out of 5 stars TWO Wonderful romances.......2005-06-01

I wasn't crazy about the 2 mystery stories in this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed the romances. McCoy's 12 Frogs story was adorable, so creative I wished it had been a full-sized novel.

2 out of 5 stars Not the light-hearted read you would expect............2005-05-05

I found this collection of stories rather dark and completely lacking in holiday cheer.

I'm sure mystery lovers would appreciate the plots and characters, but if you're looking for light-hearted, true meaning of Christmas, love is in the air type stories, than this book is definitely NOT for you.

4 out of 5 stars Started slow, but redeemed itself by the end. Still not a keeper.......2005-12-17

                    From the back cover:

Amid sparkling snow-frosted estates, holly-bedecked halls, and glowing firelit gatherings, a lady and a gentleman discover the gift of true love...

                    A contrary lady

One of the ton's wealthiest, most accomplished beauties, Lady Madelyn Rathbone has turned down dazzling proposal after proposal--all because she simply cannot forget country squire Robert Langtry. Though Robert's modest birthright precluded a union between them two years ago, Madelyn is quite certain that he had now settled down and is unavailable to cure her silly longings for good. But a Christmas journey gone much awry and Robert's four mischievous wards are proving more than a match for Madelyn's firm resolve--and her heart!

                    A determined gentleman

Robert Langtry had convinced himself that his feelings for Lady Madelyn were youthful folly. But when they become stranded at his snow-bound estate amid one disaster after another, he is delighted to rediscover the vivacious, spirited woman he still loves--even though he knows he cannot let her surrender her life of glittering privilege just for him. Yet neither Madelyn nor Robert are aware that holiday magic is about to snow them the sweetest joy of the season...

                    And my review:

First off all, I should probably state for the record that I have never read any of the other books in the series. Unfortunately, this left me feeling a little lost in the beginning of the book, as the author threw so many characters at the reader (ones obviously introduced in other books) that I had a hard time keeping them all straight, as this was the first time I had encountered any of them.

Also, the story felt a little slow at first, because I had a hard time liking the heroine. She came across as quite spoiled. She would long for children of her own, and then in the same moment not want to be around any of Robert's wards because they made her uncomfortable. Huh?

Also, it seemed that just as things would start to get interesting, the author would end the scene (and section) and suddenly the plot had jumped to the next day. The kept me from being drawn into the story as much as I would have liked.

Once I pushed past the middle of the book, though, it started to gain momentum. Madelyn's attitude began to change dramatically, until she was someone that I liked and could actually cheer for.

While the two boys were not very well developed as characters, the two girls were. I would dare any reader not to fall in love with Mary - she was just so sweet! And I really felt for Melanie as well. I find that most Regencies deal with either adults or very young children, and those who are adolescents never seem to appear. I was a refreshing change to see the Regency world from a preteen girl's point of view.

By the end of the book, I found myself smiling while I was reading it. By the time it was over, it left me with that warm fuzzy feeling you want from a romance. But even then, it wasn't a story I would bother to keep, as I know I won't be re-reading it.

So while this book was entertaining, it didn't inspire me to run out and buy other works by this author. If you are a fan, or want to complete the series, then go ahead and get this. But if not, I would recommend looking in a thrift or used-book store.

                    4 out of 5 stars Wonderful!.......2002-08-04

This series by Kate Huntington is wonderful! This book is the third in the series and brings us up to date on Vanessa & Alexander and Lydia & Edward. It also brings to life the romance of Madelyn & Robert. What a great story...their two years of heartbreak is finally brought to a beautiful and happy ending. You will find it hard to put this one down until you reach the final page.

This is one scrumptious early Christmas present cleverly disguised as a book. Even the most determined Scrooge could not fail to be cheered by reading it, as it is absolutely a 'feel-good' book. In other words, once you've read it, you'll feel much better than you did when you started it. During the reading period, I daresay you'll often catch yourself with a wide smile on your face, or even enjoying an out-loud giggle.

Kate Huntington has the knack for creating extended families, awash with children and pets, and other engaging, and some not-so engaging, characters. What more natural pairing then, for a Christmas romp, than the bachelor country squire, Robert Langtry, who has inherited his brother's four orphaned children, and the Lady Madelyn Rathbone, lovely, wealthy young aristocrat.

For you see, Madelyn and Robert have a history. They've proposed to each other numerous times, but for various reasons, no marriage between them ever occurred. Madelyn has never been around children at all, being an only child who was orphaned at a young age, and thereafter was always in the company of much older guardians. Oh, they had her best interests at heart, but hearts and best interests are not known to be chummy with each other. And, it is imperative--at least in the eyes of those guardians--that she marry as befits her wealth and her station in life. Non-wealthy country squires need not apply.

Robert, on the other hand, loves his wards, and is determined to lavish care on and for them, in an attempt to somehow make up for the loss of their parents. It would appear that his path will sharply diverge from that of Madelyn. Until, that is, a country house party at the home of Alexander and Vanessa Blakely. In spite of all efforts to the contrary by a wide assortment of house-guests, and with the aid of the four spirited children, Madelyn and Robert will find the way to make their paths converge, and lead to the altar. Finally. And now, Madame Author--for next year's gift to your readers, may we please have the story of Count Andreas Briccetti? Surely, such a charming gentleman cannot long stay a bachelor?

4 out of 5 stars After Two Years............2000-11-07

This book shows how time to let the characters mature a little improves them and their outlook on life. A country squire and a spoiled and pampered heiress meet again after two years to find their love has not died. But will their love for each other result in happiness for all? Robert Langtry has learned to love and to deal with his four young wards. Lady Madelyn learns that there is more to her than a shallow and wealthy beauty. Whether or not they will find happiness together depends a great deal on what more they learn about themselves one Christmas.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoyed this book immensely.......2000-11-04

This was an extremly well written, entertaining book. The author has obviously done her research, and it was wonderful to be tranported back to the regency era. Characters were entertaining, and the romance very believable.

                    Book Description

                    The Headless Magi
Terence Faherty's metaphysical sleuth, Owen Keane, is working at a crisis phone line in New Jersey, where several alarming calls from a young boy coincide with vandalism at a local Nativity scene, bringing a thought-provoking mystery home for the holidays.

                    Christmas Cache
Aileen Schumacher's New Mexico engineer and amateur sleuth, Tory Travers, agrees to let her teenage son house-sit at the local university's experimental solar-heated home - and ends up with a challenging Christmas puzzle: a mysterious shooting, a backyard full of buried cash, and original paintings even she can recognize.

                    Stocking Stuffer
Doing undercover security work during the holiday shopping rush, Wendi Lee's Boston P.I., Angela Matelli, struggles to clear a woman accused of killing her ex-husband in a mystery filled with enough bizarre twists for an unexpected unwrapping of a Christmas killer.

                    The Empty Manger
Bill Crider's Texas sheriff, Dan Rhodes, has his hands full with a "living" manger scene downtown when the body of the local councilwoman is found nearby. Rhodes has a suspect list as long as a string of Christmas lights -- but it's old-fashioned horse sense that leads to a surprise killer.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Read For Any Season.......2002-01-19

I'm not usually a big fan of short stories, but they are a good way to "try out" several new authors. These are character-driven stories with well-developed plots. I liked these people and would like to spend more time in their fictional worlds! I'm going to look for full-length mysteries by all four authors.

                    1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Book.......2001-12-08

When I bought this I was so excited to begin reading the stories in it. They seemed good when I read the back cover, but boy was I wrong. I wish I had never picked it up.

First of all, the stories deal more with relationships than with mysteries. The stories are cliched, and pretty much no good. The worst story of all was the Christmas Cache. It had nothing to do with Christmas, and barely had a mystery to it. The other stories were pretty much just as boring and slow moving.

If you're looking for a good mystery for the holidays try some by Valerie Wolzien, or Carolyn Hart.

                    From the back cover:

MISTLETOE & MAYHEM by Cara Summers

                    All she wants for Christmas...

Librarian Jodie Freemont's New Year's Resolution is to get a life! Plain, predictable Jodie is going to turn into a daring, free-spirited femme fatale. And she gets her chance when rugged bounty hunter Shane Sullivan comes to town. Shane's got a reputation for always getting his man. But he doens't stand a chance when Jodie decides to catch hers--under the mistletoe!

SANTA'S SEXY SECRET by Lori Wilde

There are a few surprises under that suit...

Working undercover as a jolly department-store Santa is no holiday for Detective Sam Stevenson! He's supposed to be investigating a large-scale theft ring, but instead he's spending more time checking out his gorgeous assistant elf, Edie Preston. The cute little pixie is one giant-size distraction. And thanks to a little mistletoe, Santa Same is suddenly hearing weddding bells instead of jingle bells!

                    And my review:

This is advertised as a collection of two romantic comedies. And I must preface my review by saying that there are very, VERY few authors who can write comedy well. Romantic comedy is even harder. While both authors managed very well with the humor, the romance is lacking in both stories.

And that's because the relationships in both books are based pretty much on sex and nothing else. I like sexual tension in a romance (in fact, it's necessary for a good read), but there needs to be more than just flying hormones for me to cheer a couple on. Sex is not enough to build a meaningful, lasting relationship on. Neither story had the substance necessary for me to keep reading. I kind of felt that each author just wanted to get the romance "out of the way" and get back to the mystery/comedy plotlines, and so restorted to lightning-fast sex between the characters to establish a romance. This felt like a shortcut, leaving me feel dirty and cheated.

There are far better Christmas romances out there. This is just not one that I think is worth reading. Do yourself a favor and skip it.
