Book Description
This book comprises a series of individual papers on the development of intensive methods of rearing animals. Starting from the original domestication of what are known as farm animals the authors consider the effect on the ecosystem of the new method of housing animals, the changes in animal types as a remit of selective breeding and the new programmes for the effective feeding of animals. In addition the effect of intensive management on animal behaviour and disease incidence is discussed for poultry, pigs and cattle.
The consideration of bioindustrial ecosystems in this volume concentrates on systems which, while being true ecosystems, differ considerably from those dealt with in the other volumes of this series. The points of similarity concern the relationship between one organism and another and their interaction with the environment. The points of difference relate to the major role of man as an organism in bioindustrial ecosystems and the nature of the artificial environment that he has created for his animals. The involvement of man is related to the domestication of animals and his use of them for such things as food, traction, transport, clothing, fertiliser and recreation. Man's use of animals in different parts of the world varies considerably and is influenced by a number of factors which include climate, wealth, availability of water, customs and religion. Probably the developments in bioindustry during this century show a greater change in an ecosystem over a short time than any other. As man further develops bioindustry to meet his needs, so the place of the animal in the ecosystem assumes greater importance in relation to its own well-being. Using an international approach the authors have compiled a comprehensive study, which will act as an important reference for political and ecological discussions on the future of animal production.

Great for teaching!.......2007-01-20
My wife is a certified tennis professional and works a lot with our school tennis team. She spends a lot of energy looking for ways to improve the kids' skills. This book is one of her favorites. It has a lot of easily explained games focusing on different skills. It is great for bringing variety to practices.
Not a book for beginners.......2006-07-26
This is a good book for coaches and parents that know a lot about tennis, but if you are a parent looking for a book to help you with the basics, do not buy it. It does not help you with the basics, it does not have any photos or sketches -except for some cartoonish drawings- to help you with the drills, movements, position of your legs, arms, shoulders, etc.
I am giving this book 3 stars because it may be usefull for coaches and kids that know how to play tennis, otherwise I would give it less than that.

Average book is creative but not highly learning-oriented.......2000-09-04
Reggie has written a creative book with games you may not have heard of (since they are probably not played anywhere much at all except with his students). You could make games on your own, some better and some worse. Unfortunately, this book doesn't really include many teaching or sensible games that are frequently played elsewhere. There are also better (more sensible and more fun) games in several other books. But few books for kids emphasize fun and creativity. There should be some learning theory outlined so readers understand how children develop and interact. There are no diagrams but there are cartoons which don't give enough information on court set-up, etc. Reggie should consult with more teaching pros on better games, etc. Other books produced by the USPTA and USPTR (usptr.org and uspta.org) are superior in creativity, drawings, etc - if you can get them. Also Joe Dinoffer (oncourtoffcourt.com) produces some superior (although can be costly for what you get) videos. Check websites. I am a highly experienced tennis pro who like Reggie have spoken at many international conferences. This book is worthwhile to teaching pros who want some creativity and inspiration. Parents may find this useful but not for teaching. Still kids should have fun which is the message here!
Good book but to little clear pictures of the exercises........1998-04-28
I think Reggie did a great job when it comes to creativity what the exercises are conserned. The lack of pictures in the book is a shame and those who are present don't say much. It's nice to have an example to show to your students.
Maybe something for the future.
So Inovative!! I have used these techniques in my classroom!.......1997-05-05
Being a teacher of students with severe handicaps and a fan of tennis, I have found Mr. Vasquez's book to be revolutionary! His book includes all styles of learning modalities and it reaches out to all children. I have used and adapted Mr. Vasquez's games with my students. I am very excited to tell you that I have seen results with students that, in the past, did not respond to traditional methods of sensory stimulation! Through the use of this text, I have been able to reach those students!! Thank you Mr. Vasquez for a very good book. And please if you are a fellow educator, I HIGHLY recommend you take the time to read this book!!!!!
Sincerely,
Laura Mageary, Woodland Hills, California.
It's great! TENNIS A WHOLE NEW OUTLOOK, KIDS LOVE IT!.......1997-03-05
What a great idea! Finally a tool that I can use to keep my kids off the streets and into a different kind of court. The rough draft I was fortunate enough to glance at was given to me by a tennis buff at my club. To bad for him he'll have to get his own copy. To the author: Any Video Ideas??
Regards,
Javier Borboa, Brentwood, California.
An ingenious mix of tennis fundamentals with games for kids........1997-03-04
Finally, a book that links an understanding of children's learning needs with a world-class knowledge of tennis fundamentals! As someone who has experienced the difficulties of working with children, I appreciate the inclusion of a multitude of "attention-grabbing" - "easy to understand" games. As a student of tennis, I marvel at Reggie's ability to cleverly incorporate sound tennis fundamentals in activities that are sure to please both teachers and students. A wonderful book!

Todays Military Wife: Meeting the Challenges of Service Life (Todays Military Wife)
Customer Reviews:
helpful for new wives.......2007-02-09
This is a good read for new military wives (like me!) who are having some trouble figuring some things out. It's cleared up a few things for me so far and I'm not even that far into reading it, maybe 60 pages. It talks about a lot of things... some history of the military, benefits, services, moving, deployments, etc... for all of the branches of the military. It may not be the best, but like I said, it's cleared up a few things for me so far.
Are you KIDDING me?!.......2006-09-24
Calling Cards... Long gloves vs Afternoon Tea gloves... How to prepare a proper wives luncheon complete with quiche???? WHO DOES THIS!!! As an Enlisted wife (And I find that most of the wives looking for help ARE Enlisted) you are going to wind up chucking this book right into the trash. The place on base that people keep mentioning as being useful is the Family Support Center. They have FREE reading material that is 400 times more useful than knowing what kind of gloves to wear to lunch. WHO WEARS GLOVES TO LUNCH?!! Half of the wives I know who "do lunch" end up showing up in jeans so where do the gloves come in??? I gave this to my best friend who is an Officers Wife, thinking that the Upper Crust might do these 50's style luncheons more than us enlisted people... as it turns out, they don't "do lunch" with gloves either.
Seriously, if you're COMPLETELY new to the military, this might help you learn some of the traditions. But it gives you the WRONG idea about what the military is like and, in all honesty, I've been married for several years now, was a brat before that, and the only pair of gloves I own are for winter weather. And the only reason I even HAVE calling cards is because, as a Jew, I'm forbidden to write on the Sabbath and sometimes I want to give my number to a new friend. I have never once needed more than the back of a reciept and a pen to give my number to other military wives, I have never served quiche at a get together and don't know anybody who actually EATS the stuff outside of their parent's house, And
If it's history and tradition you are looking for.. there are WAY more books out there to give you an insightful look at the military. If you're in your 50's, married to an officer, and you're the type to "do lunch" in a formal setting, you will get off on this book. But if you're anything like me (an Enlisted wife under 30) you're better off just going to the FSC, a library, or a Spouses Club meeting for all of the information that's in this book. Also, it helps to MEET the wives because then you will see that they are not a group of hat wearing, quiche eating old biddies who do tea.
Good Book.......2006-09-01
This book has a lot of very useful information from people who really know what they're talking about.
Not enough of what I needed.......2006-08-14
This book was okay... I too would say borrow it or check it out from the library. It had some useful information, but what it did have was not indepth enough to really be of help, and most of it was irrelevant.
OK. . . but not your best resource.......2006-03-01
Seriously. . . who has ever gone to TEA? This book was semi helpful as a new Army wife in learning the basic structure of Military life. But, I learned much more practical information by joining online groups. I would recommend checking it out from the library - but it is not needed in your home library.

My Second Review.......2003-09-24
I once gave this book a one star review. In fact, I was inspired to write my own book (Solo-Ops) after becoming infuriated while reading this book. After reading some of the other drivel and junk out there for military wives, I now believe that this one is one of the best (besides mine, of course:). It provides accurate information (which is more than a lot of similar titles) and plenty of it. It is boring because it is all about facts. It is an awesome reference and you can use it to look up about anything you need to know.
Of course, I still believe that spouses need support and an honest explanation in addition to facts and information. That is the niche I feel Solo-Ops (the book I authored) fills. While it does not focus on facts, it does focus more on military life itself and explaining things the way I experienced them. I felt military wives needed to be prepared for the EMOTIONAL rigors of military life. I now realize that informational needs have to be filled in addition to emotional needs-- and not everyone starts out with the facts.
I give credit to Mrs. Cline for providing a non-biased, well researched and accurate resource to the military community. I thank her for providing an informational book rather than one based on thoughts and opinions of military proceedure, rules, and regs. If you are looking for a good source of information, buy this book first. While others claim to provide information, they provide little more than lip service and opinions-- and most of the opinions are from Officers Wives who have no idea what an enlisted wife faces. Mrs. Cline is one officers wife who was able to leave her "Officer Wife" Dynamic out of her book. While I still do not believe this book is a complete resource or source of support, I think it is a great start.
Very Helpful!.......2003-05-31
As one who is marrying a military man, I found this book to be full of helpful advice and hints. I feel so much more prepared to enter the military lifestyle after reading this book.
There are TONS of resources listed in this book, and they too, are very helpful! Lots of research was done in writing this book and it shows!
Two thumbs up!
I thought it was dreadful!.......2002-12-06
This is a book to buy if you are interested in learning about military benefits. It does not go into any of the emotions involved, etc. Nothing but technical stuff about dealing with deployments, no wife to wife tips and absolutely nothing about military sub-culture and what it is really like. The "Protocol" chapter was utterly insulting. Complete waste of paper. It pretty much copied all the military issued guidebooks for moving, etc, that you can get for free. As someone who already knew about life in the Army when I bought it, I was braindead after a couple chapters. The author makes no attempts at interesting-ness and there is not the slightest bit of humor. BORING. You could get this info from any recruiter. As a military wife, I am disappointed that a veteran wife like myself has chosen to share this information instead of sharing the lessons and comfort that a new wife really needs.
Must Have!.......2001-07-29
Although I am an Army Brat and was very familiar with military jargon and protocol, this book helped refresh my memory. I'm a Navy wife of 4 years and this book has been a great resource. You're sure to refer to this book over and over again. The book does a good job of describing things most relevant to military life...like MOVING!!!! Wish it had expanded more on the role of an officer's wife, but it's still a good book. Buy it if you are clueless about military life!
I love this book!.......2001-07-11
I am very new to the military. This book confirms what I already have learned and has given me some insight in to upcoming issues. I thought that the anecdotes were very motivating and uplifting. It is so nice to know others are in the same boat!

Book Description
Who is Bill Clinton?
A man whose presidency was disgraced by impeachment -- yet who remains one of the most popular presidents of our time.
A man whose autobiography, My Life, was panned by critics as a self-indulgent daily diary -- but rode the bestseller lists for months.
A man whose policies changed America at the close of the twentieth century -- yet whose weakness left us vulnerable to terror at the dawn of the twenty-first.
No one better understands the inner Bill Clinton, that creature of endless and vexing contradiction, than Dick Morris. From the Arkansas governor's races through the planning of the triumphant 1996 reelection, Morris was Clinton's most valued political adviser. Now, in the wake of Clinton's million-selling memoir My Life, Morris and his wife, Eileen McGann, set the record straight with Because He Could, a frank and perceptive deconstruction of the story Clinton tells -- and the many more revealing stories he leaves untold.
With the same keen insight they brought to Hillary Clinton's life in their recent bestseller Rewriting History, Morris and McGann uncover the hidden sides of the complicated and sometimes dysfunctional former president. Whereas Hillary is anxious to mask who she really is, they show, Bill Clinton inadvertently reveals himself at every turn -- as both brilliant and undisciplined, charming yet often filled with rage, willing to take wild risks in his personal life but deeply reluctant to use the military to protect our national security. The Bill Clinton who emerges is familiar -- reflexively blaming every problem on right-wing persecutors or naïve advisers -- but also surprising: passive, reactive, working desperately to solve a laundry list of social problems yet never truly grasping the real thrust of his own presidency. And while he courted danger in his personal life, the authors argue that Clinton's downfall has far less to do with his private demons than with his fear of the one person who controlled his future: his own first lady.
Sharp and stylishly written, full of revealing insider anecdotes, Because He Could is a fresh and probing portrait of one of the most fascinating, and polarizing, figures of our time.

Between the lines.......2007-08-20
The style is smart and at times engaging, but between the lines you can tell this guy is plain jelous of his ex boss, obviously he lacks everything that makes the other so charismatic. He resents that he did not receive the recognition HE thinks he should have received. It is the ex wife ranting about his ex, who left her for another. I suspect he has a man crush on Bill.
Written by Judas.......2007-07-18
This man...Mr. Morris has so many skeletons in his closet, he shouldn't be throwing stones. The Clintons were his employers. He found writing a book about them would bring him wealth. It will be interesting to see if he will switch parties again when the Democrats are back in control. I don't put too much credence on most of the things he says and those I believe is a "so what?" Don't waste your money. Too bad he had to turn traitor on people who trusted him.
Fantastic Book.......2007-07-07
Dick Morris clearly outlines why Bill Clinton was such a horrible president and such a characterless person. Clinton put our nation at risk and I just wish more people who think he was a genius would read this book.
Will the Real Bill Clinton Please Stand Up.......2007-07-03
Dick Morris, political analyst and advisor under president Bill Clinton, offers a inside look at what the President left out of his very large autobiography that shared nothing on how he made policy decisions. And from what is shared in this book, I can now understand why. Mr. Morris was someone who worked very close with Bill Clinton on a daily basis for years. He reveals both his strength and weaknesses, so the book reads as if it is objective, but I am sure the Clintons do not like it. Mr. Morris leads us through all of the omissions from the President's own entertaining, yet self-serving book.
It explains some of why the Clinton's lied when there was no political or legal reason for doing so. And how vicious they run a campaign, even when they have no personal stake in the race themselves in order to eliminate possible future competition. We also learn of a truly empathetic man who always had a scapegoat handy for when things went wrong. Which makes me wonder how much empathy he really has? But he also shares with us the good the man did while in office, even if it was an idea of an advisor, it takes a President to push an agenda.
I know that Mr. Morris is a political animal himself. But this book is must reading if you read "My Life" in order to get a balanced view of the man who was President. This is also required reading in order get the definition of what is 'is', so that you can understand the inconsistencies of the Presidents book. This book is a very fast read.
Clinton didn't know then what we know now........2007-04-29
Dick Morris critizes Bill Clinton because he didn't know then what we know now. Of course he didn't. None of us knew then what we know now. Sure it would have been nice to take care of Osama bin Laden then. I wish we could have done that. But who knew? I liked Dick Morris before, and I read one of his book. I thought of him as a smart guy. I'm disappointed that he turned against Clinton. I'd like to know the story behind that.
