One of my favorite books........2004-04-24
When I first bought an Alaskan husky I knew I wanted to skijor but knew little about getting started. My brother sent me this book from Anchorage and it helped send me and my dogs on some very enjoyable journeys. I read it every year when the snow started falling for the first few years. By now I have the book memorized. The ones most grateful for this book are my dogs. They now have a job that they love to do. When I pick up their harnesses they go berzerk with happiness. They love to run more than they love to eat and that is saying a lot for a dog. Perhaps the next edition could outline some methods like canicross, scootering and bikejoring for keeping dogs fit in the off season.

This is one of the few dog books I own that I would gladly spend money on again.
I especially appreciate their section on selecting a dog specifically for the sport. Since most of us skijor with our pets, they make a point of emphasising what you want to live with 365 days a year. They also have a great section on training for races.
My only hope is that they'll have a new edition out someday including training details for distance skijoring, which is bound to be a growing segment of the sport.
An exceptional resource for getting started!.......2000-03-02
This great book taught me everything I needed to know about how to get started in skijoring, what equipment I needed, and how to train myself and the dogs. Thanks to Mari and Carol for helping me get started in this awesome winter sport! For you advanced skijorers, this book also has lots of racing and training advice.

I can highly recommend this book for it's excellent information about the little known sport of skijoring. From making the equipment to training your dog and yourself, this book covers the entire sport.

I love this Creative Wedding Showers Book! .......2007-07-22
This is a great book for how to make invitations to planning games and favors for your wedding shower. I plan to use some of the ideas in here for my bridal shower. There are 10 themes to choose from such as 12 hour shower (ideas for different times of day), Spa Bridal Shower, Tis the Season, Victorian, and Hawaiian theme among others. The author gives you all you need for making invitations, favors, and playing games to go along with the themes in the book. However, I do wish she would have made the invitations into full size patterns (adding that would not have been hard--just extra pages at the back) instead of having to enlarge the patterns. You'll also like the recipes included in the book. Have fun planning your shower around one of these themes!

This book is awesome if you like to do crafts. I love doing crafts but I am not as crafty as other people. When me and the other bridesmaid started to do our invitations we thought we were getting in over our heads but the directions were easy and it turned out to be a great success. I posted the photos of our apron invitations on here for people to view. I highly recommend this book to anyone! It has a lot of different themes and beautiful invitations, decorations and ideas for bridal showers.

This is a fabulous book for showers or just themed party planning. It will come in handy in the future. The pictures are great and the ideas are complete, from menu, to décor to favors! A great find for the crafty. I also bought Wedding Showers by Adams & Russo and loved it too.

I don't know about you, but most of the bridal shower books I found before this all seemed to have the same old tired stuff. FINALLY someone came up with some beautiful, orginal ideas! The invitations, favors, and decorations in this book are really very creative and pretty, and most are fairly easy to make. She offers menu ideas, recipes, and activities that go with each party theme. I really liked the way she used color in her themes. I also liked the full-page color photos for each theme, and the step-by step instructions also had a photo for EACH step. Vey nicely done! Ms. Dewberry, if you are reading this -- I'd love to see a book on creative BABY showers as well!

I had expected Joel's book to be more engaging and more practical. It would have been much more useful with a study guide and exercises included and a model (cognative science) from which it is derived.

Joel Osteen captured my attention immediately upon beginning this book. A dear friend loaned it to me when our family was going through a tragic loss. She marked a chapter to read which I did. It helped me then and I decided weeks later to read the entire book. I loved it! I gave it to my sister when she was waiting for me during an appointment. She loved it! So far, I have returned the loaned copy, bought myself, my sister and my daughter each a copy. I'm about to buy my 4th copy for another sister. His message is simple, full of common sense and yet life changing. The power is amazing. Anyone would greatly benefit from this great read.

I read this book when it first came out.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and it has excellent messages to inspire you to lead a happy, peaceful, purpose driven life.
His writing is as good as his lectures and it encompasses all of his messages.
My favorite message is " as a man thinketh, so shall he be ". This seems to be the key to all of life. You can focus on what is missing and more of what is missing will show up in your life. You can place your thoughts on what you would like to attract or manifest and that is precisely what will show up.
I also bought the CD series so I can get a top up on the way to work. You become what you think about and what you expect out of life. If you are a good person and what you desire does not interfere with others, then "know" that this is what will show up in your life.
Fear and Ego are your biggest enemies. Knowing that you are a creation of God and a part of your creator, you have the ability to manifest in your life but only if you think you can..."even the least among you can do this and greater things..." and " with God, ALL things are possible.
If you doubt, then more uncertainty will show up.
If you believe, then you can and will manifest your desires.
Excellent message for all, Christian and non Christian!

The best way to show the Gospel of prosperity at work.......2007-08-10
I wanted to read this book but after 20 pages gave up, as I noticed it's message is about some quick fixes to get you happy, in a typical American way. To make it look Christian the author mentions the word God so we can be relaxed about it.
If somebody wants to be re begin to live a live with full potential that the right book is The 7 habits of the highes efficient people by Stephen Covey.
Throw out your copy of "The Secret." This is the book for you.......2007-05-25
For those of you who have been wondering about the obvious gaps in the new book, The Secret (example: all bad things you brought on yourself or wished for in some way), look no further. Osteen does a fantastic job of explaining that, sometimes, bad things happen for a reason. You don't imagine them, envision them or bring them about simply because you have been dwelling on them not happening, which is what "The Secret" suggests. Instead, they are all a part of God's big plan. Bad things take you to better places, provided you can roll with the punches and keep the faith.
So for those of you who have not been impressed with The Secret and have been wondering how religion and God/Jesus fit into it all, this book has the answer. What a relief!

I am thankful that I got this book. It was just what I needed to get my life out right, and focus back on God. This book, I highly recommend.
With all the sea of negative comments on this book, one thing I learned - I have an opportunity and the responsibility to speak God's blessings into my children's lives and declare God's blessings over them all the days of their lives.
Another book I came across that is useful to declare blessings over your children is "365 Prophetic Promises & Blessings for your Children". This book gives me the tools I need to speak blessings to my children and let my words of blessing sink down deeply into their hearts and minds and become a reality in their life. As Pastor Joel Osteen has said, "A blessings is not a blessing until it is spoken". I whole-heartedly believe that!

The book focuses on the importance of positivity to stay happy. I have read the book twice and I can see how my inner self blossoms as I try and implement what has been mentioned in the book. It works like magic. Highly recommended.

Joel Osteen's Daily Calendar is excellent; I wouldn't want to go through a year without it. Each day has an encouraging, uplifting message, which sometimes includes a little gentle guidance. The messages keep me positive, hopeful, and focused on the future instead of the past.
Morning Pleaser!.......2007-03-29
This started out as a birthday present from my team at work. Mr. Osteen has just visited Charlotte, NC and I had the opportunity to work as an usher there and I just had one of the best praise and worship times ever. So I was just going on and on about the visist and thats what I got for my birthday and christmas present. But it turned out it was just for more than myself. All of my co-workers would make a b-line to my desk to see what the word woud be for the day. I mean everybody liked it. I work at Social Services so I got to share the word with a lot of people. I just love this calendar. Someone at my job stole mine so I've ordered me another one. Keep up the good word.

Joel's messages are about being positive; thinking the highest for ourselves; being responsible for our own well-being; improving our lives. I look forward to seeing positive daily messages on the calendars each morning - and the messages stay with me. Only criticism is that the first several days were not really that positive - not like the other several hundred messages that truly reach my heart and head.

I am a self-employed, "make-your-own-sunshine" kind of professional who loves this book for its simplicity and concise nature.
Since I first read this book in the Fall of 2004, I have made it a part of my daily meditation (though I enjoy his new book as well) and given it to almost 700 clients,friends, and people that just seem interested in the topics discussed; the response is amazing. The only "negative" was that one man said he "...had a hard time looking at anybody that happy every morning..." referring to Joel's picture on the jacket cover!!!
In short, I highly reccomend it for what it has done for me and many others.
