Customer Reviews:
Awesome Book for the avid baseball fan!.......2007-09-26
This book is great for the avid baseball fan. I bought it for myself, but I am going to buy one for a friend for Christmas because I am so impressed with it. I like the baseball diamond shape, makes it interesting, great coffee table book and it a great conversation piece. Even the NON-baseball fans love it! Great information on the new and old ballparks.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame.......2007-01-03
I was disappointed to discover that this was an older edition and not the new one, which I have purchased for others. It lacks the updates of the currebt edition. I suppose its one way to get rid of old merchandise.
baseball parks.......2006-12-19
Take me out to the ballpark by Josh Leventhal is a very exciting book because it shows you baseball's old stadiums. For instance, the Brooklyn Dodgers Stadium. The book shows you how many stadiums there are. I used to think there were only 30 stadiums, but this book gives information on more than 100 major and minor league stadiums around the country.
The book shows some very unique stadiums. Some have roofs, some do not and some are football stadiums like Minnesota's stadium. My favorite part of the book is when they show you the old Yankee Stadium. I think a baseball fan should read this book.

Take Me Out to the Ballpark: An Illustrated Tour to Baseball Parks.......2005-08-03
I first purchased this for my baseball-fan grown sons. My mother (also a fan) was enthralled by it, so I bought one for her, too. It has lots of information, great photos - all-in-all, a successful gift for the baseball-lover.
One of the best.......2004-12-10
This book on baseball parks was incredibly good. I personally am very interested in baseball parks and so I have high expectations for a book like this. The information was given in an easy-to-read way that made reading it enjoyable and not a chore. There were lots of facts and the pictures were perfect. The only problem was the shape... I don't get it is it a baseball or what? Other than that this is one of the best baseball books there is and I should know because I love baseball.

Lots of helpful information for exams.......2005-10-08
This book helped me get ready for my exams. There were tons of problems, with answers all worked out and explained clearly. Plus it gives you a lot of ideas about what your teacher might ask you on an exam. I found this to be very helpful in my stats class.

Book Description
From the author of Never Eat Anything Bigger than Your Head, Whack Your Porcupine, Tiny Footprints, and, of course, the legendary Cat, here is a Kliban doubletake-over 100 line drawings, plus the illustrated serial thriller Cornish Game Clams. Brilliantly drawn and bitterly funny, these cartoons thoroughly demonstrate better living through plywood, reaffirm that what's good for business is good for America-even if Your Government in Action has taken to the streets-the Madonna is out of order and Yoga has been made silly. 122,000 copies in print.
Customer Reviews:
Johann Sebastian Boop..........2004-06-18
Kliban was not a typical American cartoonist. Most of his work is for adults (a lot of his work was printed in Playboy) and includes obscenities, nudity, and adult humor. This book has all three in droves. What makes Kliban special is his ability to utilize adult humor in a non-gratuitous way. It's not just "dirty humor" for the sake of it, typically the joke calls for "something inappropriate". Consequently, don't look for the politically correct or for comforting status-quo affirming jokes here. One of the salient examples of this (that happens to be quotable) involves two people who look like hippies confronting a leathery man in an alley. The man holds a handful of pills out to the leathery man and says "Hey brother, like we feel awful about how the white man ripped off your land, so we want you to have these dangerous drugs." There's more than humor going on here. Expect the profound along with the ridiculous when reading Kliban. This book also includes: "Barf Bold, A Decorative Typeface", "Better Living Through Plywood #66 and #75", "Fecal Matter Burgers", "Inside a Modern Balloon", "I go for a man in a thick suit", "King Malcom IV was hamstered on the steps of Pewksbury Cathedral, June 11, 1058", "What's good for business is good for America", "Brassiere full of Nickels" and loads more indescribable and unquotable toons. Not to mention that very few of Kliban's books remain in print for some incomprehensible reason. So grab them while you can. This one is still readily available. Hopefully that won't change.
Laugh Weirdly.......2001-09-27
Buy this book, put it where it can be found, and wait for giggles from your guests. Kliban's humor is off-center, but hilarious for those who see the joke in life. Another Kliban book: Never Eat Anything Bigger Than Your Head, contains my all time fav: Genghis & Sylvia Khan, Genghis show with his arm around his wife, who's dressed in a pants suit, fashion glasses, and big hair.
This is funny, funny stuff. dm

Kayaks or Tortillas or what?.......1998-09-07
Laugh out loud and know not why with the undisputed King of Cartoon Comedy. If you like Larson then that's no guarantee you'll like Kliban. However, if you take the time to investigate, you will enter a strange and enchanting new world. If you are lucky, you might meet 'Roger Wilco', or learn how to identify classic 'Fool Traits'. You may even be let in on the secret behind the 'Old Rabbit Hoax'.

B.Kliban rules!!!.......1998-09-02
I've been a huge fan of this cartonist since 1981, when I first acquired some of his books. He is absolutely hilarious - spot on in his social critique, and outrageously funny in his more fantastic pieces. I heartily recommend any of his books.

Customer Reviews:
Dana/Todd, Finn/Liz Tristian/Jessica triangle.......2005-04-13
Jessica's eye is caught by the teaching assistant Tristian Patterson. Dana and Todd are having problems, they fight, break up,then get back together, then fight, break up,yada yada ,yada. Dana moves out of the house and in with her parents. Finn or as Sam calls him Dr.Cool,Elizabeth met Finn Robinson at Sweet Valley Hospital, when she got a cut from Sam's beer can collection[really smart thinking, huh?] She has to have stitches and meets Finn. Tristian is accused of having it with underaged women,so he gets out of SVU.
SOME GOOD CONCEPTS.......2000-07-19
This book was okay but it got a bit tedious becaus eyou know that Jessica's relationships are not always smooth and she always has crushes on older guys si this Tristan guy he sounds nice but isn't of course Jessica is smitten with him. The highlight to thi book were of course Chloe I think she really adds humour to the book and I cracke dup when she hears all her roomated talking about Tom's message on the answer phone I actually feel sorry for her anyway all this stuff with sam is okay but now getting boring we want some real good stuff francine. I look forward to reading the next bye for now
Boring.......1999-11-07
I thought that this was one of the most boring books I've ever read. The whole Sam and Elizabeth fighting is boring and overdone, enough is enough. I'm also dreading a Elizabeth and Sam romance, since that seems where the writer is headed, I would also find that boring. I think that Elizabeth and Tom need to get back together, but I doubt that will happen ever again. This book also focused way too much on Todd and Dana. Again that was boring, they would fight, then makeup, fight then makeup, I think that they need to live apart. Hopefully the rest of the books will get better. Also the whole Jessica and Tristain storyline was lame.
Big stories.......1999-10-31
After the summer break phrase and the beginning of sophmore year, this book was fun,not really exciting but it had conflict(jessica/tristan)(liz/sam).I love Finn and Liz together, but i'm scared for her, because the book leads you to think of him as a two-timer. I really hope Sam tells Liz what he feels, and vice-versa.Dana and Todd are really boring the h e double hockey sticks outta me but I still can't wait for True or Dare.
Fooling Around (Right?).......1999-10-22
I think that this book is as crazy as Living Together these books are becoming very boring. Elizabeth is still screaming at sam and it is obivious she likes him, but she is to chicken to tell him! Jessica is still trying to be like she always has a flirt. I thought she was going to be so responsible i don't think so. i give this book 3 stars.

GREAT BOOK!.......2003-04-11

mirror, mirror on the wall.......2003-04-11
There aren't many people in this world who consider any criticism "constructive." Most "suggestions" offered by others, although spoken in "truth and love" more times than not, result in an immediate wall of defense being constructed. This book, however, while not purposely written to point out anyone's personal flaws, is certainly a perfect tool for self reflection. While reading this book, time after time, I saw pieces of myself (pieces that definately need attention) written so plainly. And what was so effective, and greatly appreciated, is that each characteristic described was followed by instructions of not just "why," but "how" to overcome these areas of weakness. And get this, here's a new one, these instructions were not the author's opinion; rather, they were from God's Holy Word. No doubt this author did his homework-and this reader was fed. Certainly, after such a wonderful "meal" consisting of all the food groups (love, kindness, forgiveness, patience, faith, humility, etc.) this reader will grow stronger and wiser in her walk. And I feel confident in saying this will be the result for anyone who is smart enough and blessed enough to read this book. Kudos to Dr. Cummings for his courage to and thoroughness in speaking the truth. I beleve all christians need to hear it and will benefit greatly from it. I'm looking forward to any "sequels" that I hope will follow.

Cataromance.com says............2005-11-03
In this thrilling anthology, there is suspense and danger intertwined with humor and poignant romantic moments. With the unknown elements present in every story, the characters will have to rely on their own wits and the trust of others to keep themselves alive. CORNERED has three compelling stories filled with mystery, action and heartfelt emotions.
FOOLING AROUND by Linda Turner
This delightful story will have you smiling from the snappy dialogue between Josie and Wiley plus the lively comments made by a wise-cracking parrot named Ethel who belonged to Boonie. As we watch Josie change careers, we get to see her determination to take charge of her life by learning how to be a private detective and help Wiley with their cases. With charming characters and a fun plot, Linda Turner delivers a heartwarming story. FOOLING AROUND is a moving love story with plenty of humor and a touch of suspense.
THE MAN IN THE SHADOWS by Ingrid Weaver
With the glimpses into the past history of the main individuals in this story, Ingrid Weaver helps the readers to understand why the characters reacted as they did to certain predicaments. Ms. Weaver's insight into understanding human emotions has let her create a story with many internal conflicts, and her characters had many difficult decisions to make regarding their actions. The danger and suspense will keep your heart pounding from all the unpredictable events which continuously occur on almost every page. There are a myriad of emotions felt by the main characters, and I was deeply drawn into Erika's heartrending love story. THE MAN IN THE SHADOWS will stir one's own imagination and emotions by combining action with romance.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S MURDER by Julie Miller
Since she has always been one to follow the instructions of others and not be a leader, English college professor Hannah Greene finds herself taking charge of not only her life but those in her group when their mountain adventure guide is murdered. Hannah and nine of her fellow colleagues from their college in Kansas have traveled to the Teton Mountains in Wyoming to learn how to work together under extreme conditions. Now with their guide dead, Hannah knows their situation is grave, as no one in the group has any idea how to safely get down the mountain. Luckily, she finds the guide's two-way radio and calls for help. She is able to reach Rafe Kincaid from Extreme, Inc., which is the company they used for their expedition. He is distressed to learn of their guide's death and plans to immediately come to their rescue. When he arrives at their camp, Rafe tells them that they must function as a team or they may die. But it seems as though someone has dire plans for this group, as they start finding people dead and not from accidents. By not knowing whom to trust in their group, Hannah and Rafe will have to rely on each other while trying to keep everyone alive.
Once again, Julie Miller has created numerous characters with very realistic personalities, and each one is distinctive and intriguing. Rafe is a powerful character who knows how to control a situation, and Hannah discovers that she possesses some of these same traits as she learns to stand up for herself. Even though she thinks of herself as a quiet, timid person, she realizes that she has an inner strength which she must now call upon. When these two spirited individuals are together, the sparks fly from their determination and from their attraction to each other. The mystery of finding the killer is well-developed and will keep you guessing until the revengeful person's identity is known. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S MURDER is suspenseful and action-packed from the first page and the love story is impassioned.
fine tales (at least the two I read).......2005-09-17
"Fooling Around" by Linda Turning. When staid and stuffy Josephine London learns that her great-aunt Boonie left her a detective agency, she kicks up her heels and moves to San Antonio. Her partner Wiley Valentine is first surprised that she had the gumption to make the change and then becomes worried when she accepts the case of a mafia's lord's wife who wants to find out if her husband to cheating on her. While working the case, the pair falls in love. Josephine also inherits a parrot Elliot who talks to people in a human manor and manages to steal the spotlight in this exciting romantic suspense.
"The Man in Shadow" by Ingrid Weaver. For a year, her family and friends worried about Erika, who kept seeing Sloan in spite of knowing he drowned at sea even though his body was never recovered. While working a case on the docks she notices a man who looks like Sloan and goes to investigate, but is knocked out. When she regains consciousness, she finds the man who looks like Sloan brokering an arms deal. When the authorities arrive, Sloan falls into the water and she can't convince anyone that he was with her. Ingrid Weaver's heroine believes, despite the evidence, that her beloved did not die at sea a year ago, leaving readers (and her family) empathizing yet wondering. This is a terrific tale by a fabulous author.
