A very concise, easy to follow, step-by-step presentation on how to build a bamboo fly rod for the beginner or novice. It should also be of value to those who are interested in either restoring or refurbishing a vintage rod, as this type of work requires a fundamental knowledge of how these rods were built. This book provides that knowledge.

Good book for those new to bamboo rod construction as I am, with practical step-by-step explainations, recommendations and tips. Good book for the book shelf but its going to spend a fair bit of its time on the workbench in the shed.
comprehensive and well done...........2000-11-12
This is a truly excellent book on building a bamboo fly rod, and it is possibly the best currently available. The instructions are precise, the photos and drawings are detailed and the author(s) write the book from the standpoint of "We WANT you to suceed.." The truly rank beginnger (me, in other words) will find the list of tools and materials at the beginning of the book a bit daunting, and undoubtbly expensive, but this in a book about building a fine bamboo fly rod, not building a cheap one. A bit more about tapers, (and figuring your own) would have been apprecaited, but all in all, a suberb book for the rod builder, or for those of us who appreicate a bamboo fly rod...
A nearly perfect beginners guide.......2000-03-30
This is an excellent book for those planning to build their first bamboo rod. Each phase of construction is broken down into its essential elements, and the tools and time required to complete the task. The authors make the process much less daunting. I had only two criticisms. After reading the chapter on planing I had a few unanswered questions, and I wish there was more information on choosing appropriate hardware. These points are minor. If you want to build a bamboo rod, this is the first book to read, and the only book that many beginners will need.

WOW. This is an awesome program and an awesome deal.
If you are like me, tired of wasting money on dictionaries, grammar books, travel guides, contrived music programs....
You will not regret buying this. Not only is it inexpensive, and usable for all ages, you will have usable spanish vocabulary immediately.
Practical Phrases For Real Life .......2007-05-12
I'm using this book to help expose my son to Spanish at a young age. It's full of very useful phrases that you just don't learn in Spanish class in high school or college. I have not listened to the cd much, but hope to get more use of it down the road. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn common phrases that you really can use with your children. It's probably best for someone who has had a few years of Spanish study.
Not for beginners or young children.......2007-04-07
It's touted as the fun way to get kids started, but it's a book on tape without even signals after each page. The dialogue was too fast and there's no explanation or instruction, just spanish dialogue printed next to English translation. If your child isn't a fluent reader, forget it.
It'd be good for an older child or adult already learning Spanish who wanted to work on pronunication.
For the daily caregiver.......2007-02-06
This is an excellent tool but it is not the most useful if you are NOT the basic caregiver of the student. It is set up to wake the child, wash him, have breakfast, get dressed, etc. all done with Spanish songs and expressions, as you would do as the parent in English. But as a teacher, you would have to "act out" these scenarios- if you are not the one who oversees his daily activities. I am teaching my grandsons. It was fun for them to pretend they were waking up or dressing to go outside in the hot/cold weather, but it was not frequently repeated (and therefore reinforced) because I am not part of these routines. Accordingly, this is most useful for a parent who wants to introduce Spanish smoothly into a child's daily life, raising them "as if" bilingual.
Not what I expected.......2007-01-31
The "songs" are not really songs. It is more like a book on tape. The students can't sing along. It would be nice to have to read to a child one-on-one, but not for group singing and playing.

Players advance along the board by correctly translating English words and phrases into Spanish. For example, if your card says cat, you must say the Spanish word for cat, el gato. The 300 game cards are divided into 2 levels of difficulty: beginning and intermediate. Also, the game can be played from English to Spanish, or Spanish to English. The audio tapes include accurate native pronunciation for all the words on the game cards to aid you with pronunciation. They also include 2 adventure stories that follow J.T. the Road Scholar and his companion Lorro the Parrot as they journey down the road towards the Ancient Ruins. The stories incorporate many of the words and phrases featured on the game cards, which make for great practice in between games. Hasta la vista, baby! Game includes 300 game cards, Two 60 minute audio cassettes, game board, die, 6 playing pieces, and game instructions. For 2 6 players, ages 8 and up.
