Book Description
"I was on a lonely stretch of road. There were no lights other than the moon and stars, and I had not encountered any traffic in at least 10 minutes. Far ahead of me a figure stepped out of the brush and stood on the shoulder of the road. The figure was still far out of my headlight range, but was visible as a stunning and marvelous silhouette in the bright moonlight." Capturing the essence of the riding experience through a series of adventures and a candid look into the author s mind, this book explodes the myths and shows the reader something few books have before-the complex motivations of an avid motorcycle rider.

The only book I ever threw away....this guy is so full of himself..."big great texan"....barf! story was not so bad if you can get beyond the I am a big tuff guy!
Entertaining and well written.......2006-11-10
Enjoyed the author's style and what he had to say. Good examples of adventures on the road addressing why we choose to ride.
I've been far enough on this road, thanks........2006-10-28
It wasn't bad, just not my sort of thing.
The cover (at least of my edition) bears the legend "a novel by Daniel Meyer". It's certainly NOT that. It could be argued that it's a collection of short stories, but it's really not that either... mostly just vignettes of motorcycling with no real plot lines, with some of what might be poetry thrown in.
I think by "novel" the author means that it's fiction, which at least some of it almost certainly is. We are, for instance, asked to suspend disbelief when a very attractive lady, found naked, barefoot and alone in the woods at night (which she doesn't bother to explain over hours of conversation, and is apparently never asked) later produces a personalized calling card. Not "calling card" as a euphemism or metaphor, a real, physical card. The fact that authors, unlike movie directors, don't have "continuity" departments doesn't mean that they couldn't sometimes benefit from them.
I read it through, and enjoyed a few parts of it, but it doesn't gel as literature or fiction, nor does it really convey much about the experience of motorcycling.. at least as I experience it. Despite the somewhat pretentious title, there's very little in the way of pondering motorcycling's nature, beyond expressions of exuberance. Well, there is a great deal of exuberance involved, but there are also depths that go untouched here.
In fairness to the author, capturing much about the experience seems nearly impossible for any writer.. but I keep hoping.
Feel the wind in your hair........2005-07-16
Daniel Meyer is not merely a motorcycle owner, he embraces the highway from the back of a Honda cruiser, with gusto and passion. This is a man who thinks nothing of riding to another state for lunch. His humor and attention to detail will amuse at one moment and haunt your thoughts the next.
Ride along. Feel the wind in your hair!
A great read!.......2005-07-16
Never mind that I haven't been on the back of a motorcycle in over thirty years, I greatly enjoyed Daniel Meyer's "Life is a Road, the Soul is a Motorcycle." He has a keen eye for detail and a great talent for keeping the reader engrossed in his delightfully rendered stories. Do you like travel and adventure? Do you enjoy passion? Do you like to laugh out loud? You'll find all that and more within these pages. Not only is Dan an excellent prose writer, you'll find some amazing poetry to ponder over, as well. What I like most about his writing is that it comes across strong and clear that Dan knows that life is for living, and he does it well. I highly recommend it.

Full of Practical Ideas.......2007-03-30
As a professional organizer, I have read quite a few books on organizing. This book was very light and easy to read, which I liked. In addition, it has practical ideas for using inexpensive (and sometimes free) storage containers. Many people are on a tight budget, but with the suggestions made in this book, you can find the products inexpensively and at your convenience.
If you don't want to read this book cover-to-cover, there is an index in the back that can be used to find solutions to a problem area you want to tackle.
I'd recommend this book as a resource for tackling each room in your home.
The only Organizing book you'll need!.......2007-02-24
I was a 28 year old working woman who was overwhelmed with my domestic responsiblites and drowning in a sea of mess, clutter and chaos. Thanks to "Confessions of an Organized Homemaker" now my home is well put together and neat. No longer do I stress out over grocery shopping, laundry, and planning meals. I was a constant last minute person, doing the laundry when I was down to the last towel, grocery shopping only after I had exhaused all meal possibilites it was terrible. I even served chicken thighs on hamburger bun havles with gravy on top! Thanks to Deniece Schofield I have my life back. She covers everything from finding storage spots to creating your own grocery lists where the items are grouped together by catergories. She lets the reader apply what works and leave what doesn't. This book is perfect for newlyweds and young people who have moved out of the house. Buy it and you'll see what I'm taking about!
Practical information in a breezy book.......2007-01-04
Each chapter naturally leads into the next, so the writing flow is smooth, but what sets this book apart from others of its kind is the sheer volume of ideas. The author doesn't provide a one-size-fits-all mentality and allows the reader to draw his/her own conclusion(s) and adapt to his/her own environment. More pictures would have been nice.
Enjoyable Read, Timeless Advice.......2006-11-17
I really enjoyed this book. The ideas aren't necessarily original compared to other household organizing books, but it was more enjoyable to read than most. I enjoyed the author's anecdotes and personal remarks throughout. It made it more fun to read something that was already full of good advice. I'd love a new and updated version that brings us more up to date with the technology that is omnipresent today, but even though this is dated, it doesn't feel that way. Instead I'd call it "timeless". I will keep this and enjoy reading it and referring to certain sections over and over again. A great household resource.
Great book, great ideas.......2006-08-23
I own this book for several years now, and reading it really help me to get more organized. I reorganized my kitchen and I love it this way - cooking and backing became more fun. The chapter about how to organize the kids room was very helpful, as with three kids inevitably a lot of toys/puzzles/lego pieces are accumulated - and - by the way - that's exactly how I store kids puzzles, and yes, kids DO the puzzles more then once! Thank you, Deniece, for sharing your ideas with us!

Jack Faraday, the Marquis of Dansbury, has no interest in being respectable. Nor is he interested in proper ladies pursuing marriage--until he looks across a room and into the emerald eyes of Miss Lilith Benton. When she publicly snubs him, Jack is furious and vows to exact revenge by seducing the lady known as the Ice Queen.
Lilith is aghast to learn that the man whose dark eyes stirred such excitement in her is the notorious Marquis of Dansbury. She's intent only on restoring her family's good name and making a respectable marriage; being pursued by a scandalous rake is not in her plans. Unfortunately, her heart won't listen to her good sense.
Stolen kisses and midnight escapades endanger both Lilith's reputation and Jack's heart. When they are forced to conspire to clear their names after a duke's mysterious death, hot desire soon replaces innocent kisses. Stolen Kisses is a delightful read, filled with tart, witty repartee, life-threatening danger, villainous dukes, and enough heart-shuddering sensuality to satisfy the most demanding reader. Somewhere in novelist's Heaven, revered Regency author Georgette Heyer must be smiling with delight about Suzanne Enoch's Regency romances.
Customer Reviews:
Not nearly as good as other Suzanne Enoch books.......2004-03-03
I have read all Suzanne's books except the ones that are so greatly overpriced in the used section. But I wanted to read another "Reforming a Rake", so I took a chance on paying way too much for this book. Definitely not worth it. It was nothing special at all. What an unpleasant surprise!! It wasn't awful, though, just not worth the extra expense (or the anticipataion)
Jack Faraday - One of your top 10 Rogues!.......2002-09-08
As a devoted reader of Regency Romance novels I must say that Jack Faraday, Marquis of Dansbury, has to be high on the list of the top ten rouges - if not right there! You have to love him!
Across a the crowded ballroom of Almacks, on a lost bet with his mistriss, Jack Faraday, spotted the most stunning lady he had ever seen, Lilith Benton, known as the Ice Queen. Thinking he would see just how icy she could be, he sauntered across the ballroom thinking to do a little melting! He met his match as upon hearing his name, which had the most notorious scandal attached to it, Lilith gave him the most publicly scathingly set down and cut he had ever experienced! Jack furiously decided then and there that ruining her, would be be his revenge!
Lilith has for the past few years, been doing everything in her power to make a perfectly respectable marriage and restore her family's good name - any association with the notorious Marquis would hinder all her good intentions and she was determined to ignore him. Jack on the other hand, was just as determined to tumble down her defenses and the excellent scenes so brilliantly dialogued are priceless!
As the story goes on and Lilith begins to thaw, and Jack begins to have second thoughts of her ruination they both band together in trying to avoid scandal over a Dukes accidental death. Great reading and a super story! Definitely on my keeper shelf!
Good Book.......2002-03-01
This book was a good read. Its a love story between Lilith and Jack the Marquis of Dansbury (the hunk) Lilith's family is determined that she marry a duke to restore the family's reputation but she falls in love with Jack the scandalous rake. Her father and aunt insist she have nothing to do with him. Jack decides he wants to become respectable so he can get near this women (When he falls off the wagon it is funny!) I loved the way Jack was so protective of Lilith and when things go wrong for Lilith she always runs into the arms of Jack. The book started out somewhat slow, but I give it 5 stars because once the pace picked up I really enjoyed the book.
Quite entertaining!.......2000-07-08
I had just finished Reforming A Rake(LOVED IT!)when I decided to try something else by Suzanne Enoch. This led me to Stolen Kisses. While Stolen Kisses is not as blatantly humorous as Reforming a Rake, I believe it came into its own. While there were some period discrepencies, I was willing to overlook them because I was enjoying the story. They didn't jerk me out of the story like they did to some of the other reviewers. As a love interest, I found Jack to be clever, desireable & ultimately honorable.
Jack Faraday is given the cut direct by Lilith as they are introduced. This infuriates him so much (NO ONE treats HIM in such a manner) that he seeks his revenge by intending to seduce her. Lilith, honoring familiar demands that she marry for a title and social position, looks for a husband from the ton elite. She strives to stay away from Jack who has suddenly made himself available at every turn. While he is a Marquis, his name is embroiled in scandel. This is a fact that would bother Lilith's family and had never actually bothered Jack, until he met Lilith. The electricity flies between them and I found this to be a genuinely fun book.
somewhat exciting!.......1999-11-05
The book was somewhat slow at first. It was an enjoyable book however. I wish there would have been more of a storyline though. It just didn't give me all the excitement that I usually enjoy getting when I read romeance novels. But, I do recommend this book.

Book Description
From the darkened city streets where crime crosses desire comes the third volume in Thomas Roche's acclaimed Noirotica anthology series. Prowling the red-light corners at the intersection of the mystery and erotica genres, Noirotica stories are the naughty bits Spillane and Thompson left out, the streetlight vision of modern crime-noir with all its raw eroticism unsullied and the soft-focus replaced by glaring realism. This is the city where fallen angels in red silk prowl with shivs in their garter belts and .38s gripped in black-lace gloves, where private eyes park their Packards on the wrong side of the tracks.
Customer Reviews:
Depends entirely on what you want and like........2003-11-01
If you enjoy the detective ("noir") genre, and want some erotica that fits that category, AND if you find the kind of VERY harsh, dark sexuality that seems to fit that genre erotic, then you will probably enjoy this book tremendously. The writing is mostly very good, and the stories seem to be a good batch of examples of the genre.
I've never really been a fan of "noir" fiction; I own a copy of the video of "The Maltese Falcon", and consider it money well-spent, but it isn't a genre that I go out of my way looking for. And much of the sado-masochistic, pain-as-pleasure, dark-side-of-the-id sex that is the mainstay of most of these stories makes me wince and wilt, rather than get aroused. So most of these stories didn't do much for me; "Private Dick", by Sukie de la Croix, a spoof of the genre in which the title character was, and indeed almost every male character in the story were, stereotypical flaming queers, was hysterically funny. "A Walk In The Rain On The Wild Side", by O'Neil De Noux, was easily the most erotic story in the book, at least to my taste. Unfortunately, it was also the most sloppily written. "The Gyrl With No Name" (Kate Bornstein), "Phantom Lover" (Maxim Jakubowski), and "Inside The Works" (Tom Piccirilli) were painfully edgy, but fascinating for all of that. Most of the others just didn't make much of an impression on me, although "Faithful" by Michael Thomas Ford had an interesting plot-twist that I just didn't see coming, and so was memorable for that reason if no other.
If, like me, you're tempted to pick this book up simply out of curiosity, and not because your tastes actually run to this sort of thing, I would advise against it. But if you actually are drawn to this book because this sort of thing is of interest to you, it won't be easy to find a better-executed example of what this book provides.
evan K........2002-05-22
my friend owns this book and brought it to school and i read two chapters from it, it was funny, most of them werent' really crimes just odd. but if you were going to use this for being turned on, then check out porn, this is just a book about stupid people getting off. pretty funny, which i why i gave it many stars.
Dark and Sexy..........2002-02-15
Thomas Roche has gathered some of today's best erotic writers in this collection of fiercely written, highly polished stories for the lover of the noir genre. Where Chandler, Hammett, Esteleman, McBain, and other crime writers leave off, these authors begin. Not afraid to push boundaries -- or even to break them -- the stories cross the police barrier of sweet arousal into the realm of dark, hot, sex.
Crime stories that leave in all the dirty parts.......2001-11-19
This is one of the best anthologies of any kind of fiction that I've ever read. It's an incredible blending of my favorite kind of writing, crime fiction, with erotic fiction. Many of the stories are perverse and shocking, but there's also a lot of dark romance mixed in with the crime thriller plots. And they're all excellent stories -- I liked every story in this book except maybe one or two. Anyone who likes mysteries and erotica should buy this book!

Great Read.......2002-07-22
This is a great read. I love the Love Stories collection, and this is definitely an A+ in the series. Laura has all the complications of a normal teenager, with nothing so dramatic as to make the book unbelievable, and the casual tension between her and Mark escalates as the book continues. If you're looking for a good book to sit down for 2-3 hours, and a guaranteed squealer, Stolen Kisses is a great book. Another favorite of mine is I Do, by Elizabeth Chandler.
Stolen Kisses=Great Book.......2001-11-28
Stolen Kisses by Liesa Abrams is one of the best romance books I have read, and romance books are all I read. If you like any of the other books in the Love Stories series, you will definitely enjoy this one. On page 156, the main character, Laura, is talking about Mark, her best friends friend, and she says this, "He had turned into a good friend despite any weirdness between them". I think that this quote goes to show no matter how weird two people get after a period of time, they should still be friends. You never know if that person could be possibly one of you best friends. Also, in this book, it seems like that friendship is a key essential in life. I think that Mark and Laura are good friends because of one little kiss at a party because they don't want a possible friendship to just vanish when you never know what could have been. Like I said, I really enjoyed this book but, this book isn't for everyone, guys mostly, unless you really like romance.
Reality.......2001-04-18
I loved this book because it wasn't a fairy tell story it was a story you can compare your life to. They had to fight and figure out what the wanted to have. I really recommend the book also the book I Do by Elizabeth Chandler.
Stolen Kisses.......2000-02-28
This book was one of Liessa best book her books are usually good.I hope to read more of her books. Two thumbs up rates this reader
Smart and Funny!.......2000-01-06
"Stolen Kisses" is a gem!
Abrams spins an involved narrative where the reader is pulled back and forth from the character's psyche and reality, so masterfully the story is truly reminiscent of those told by late Virginia Woolf. If you're looking for something smart -and- funny, romantic and, yes, even a little existential, but most importantly, isn't afraid to keep it real, "Stolen Kisses" is a book for you.
My favorite character in the book is "Mike". He sounds like a really cool guy to have as a best friend... I really look forward to seeing a book just about him!

Nancy Drew's Friends have their own mysterys of life, dealing with boys, friendships, and other things that mostly happen in a teenage girls life. It's filled with Romance and that's what I like about it.

This book is very good and execiting. I couldn't stop reading. This book is great. I hope everyone who likes Nancy Drew will read this book. I read it in one whole day. It's probably the best romance and mystery story ever. I had fun reading it. Nancy Drew is my favorite book character in the whole world. Thats one reason why I like it.
This book is a AWESOME, mystery, and even, romance.......1997-03-07
It was great! Its the only book I've ever read that combined romance with a suspensful mystery. It was exciting, and I've read over at least 3 times because of how well written the plot was. I hope every girl and boy in America should read this book, because they'll be just as enthused as I was after reading this book

Light suspense/romance.......2006-09-19
Josie's grandma never met a single man she did not want to match up with her single granddaughter. Enter Locke Harper, a sexy (and single) FBI agent who's investigating a cold case jewel heist 50 years earlier that resulted in a suspicious death. Josie's grandma Caroline was the sole "earwitness," but never managed to give a good description of the crime. It haunted Locke's grandfather, who was enamored of Caroline, and Locke wants to make sure that he does not succumb to the charms of her feisty granddaughter.
Caroline insists that the only way for her to regain her memory is to return to the scene of the crime - in this case, the picturesque sea cliff mansion where she spent her honeymoon. Despite knowing that Caroline is trying to set the two up, Josie and Locke find themselves in precarious situations which lead to all kinds of romantic tension. Locke's primary case, pertaining to a serial arsonist gets him called out of town, and he reluctantly allows Josie to aid in that case (huh?) which leads to danger.
Locke's a charming hero; Josie comes across as annoying and has plenty of too stupid to live moments while she whines on about her need for independence, with predictable results. Very light reading.
