Book Description
Natural medicine has never been more popular, nor has the timeless craft of herbalism. This remarkable book traces the history of herbs far back into antiquity and shows that the gods themselves were believed to be the original healers, not only by revealing the knowledge of their healing properties of mankind but by creating the sustaining herbs out of their own bodies.
Illustrated with examples of the original texts and written by the doyen of orientalists with an unrivaled knowledge of Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian, and Egyptian herbal literature and traditions, this key volume deals with the old gods as herbalists and their divine medicine; water as a divine element; ancient Egyptian, Sumerian and Assyrian herbals; divine plants; the Greek and Latin herbals; herbals in Syriac and Arabic; Coptic lists of plants; and the Ethiopian or Abyssinian herbal. Proving conclusively both the antiquity and worth of herbal medicine, this work is indispensable for modern practitioners who want to know about the true roots of their work, as well as for all those interested in the history of medicine.

Unique, but light on information.......2002-03-11
This short book (91 pages) was first published in 1924, and was republished in 1971; it is this second edition that I read. The book is an attempt to get past the magic, and look at what the ancients actually knew about medicine. It discusses the different cultures' (Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Greek, Roman, Syriac and Arabic) idea of the herbalist, how they organized their knowledge of herbs, and what they knew.
As might be expected from a book originally written in 1924, this book did not have a lot of information upon which draw any conclusions. As such, though it is a good-faith effort, it simply doesn't have much to say. That said, though, it does contain some information that I have not encountered in my other readings; it is a unique work, but it really doesn't have much to say. I would give this book a very qualified recommendation.

very general about way too much. unless you're a very beginner, it's of very little interest. I would send it back, but it's not worth the time.
eye of the beholder.......2005-03-08
This book is a compendium of the information that Lefty Kreh has imparted by books and talks at angling shows over his career. Whether this book is useful to you depends on how many of his previous books you have purchased. Much of what appears in this book has been published in some form before. If you don't have any of Lefty's books, by all means get this one. If you have read one or more of his books, a lot of the information in this one will look familiar.
The Pentultimate Fly-Fishing Book!.......2004-01-27

Just such a book is this- whatever you need to know-flies, knots, tackle, methods, fish, water (Fresh-salt-warm-inland)-
Hey , Lefty knows it- he puts it down! You get the book- you will know it too!

Print T Shirts For Fun & Profit.......2007-09-06
A brilliant book with all the how-tos required by a budding home-business owner and it shows you how to easily print teeshirts for fun and profit just like the title promises.
Can't recommend this book highly enough.
Its somewhat informative.......2007-04-29
This book has good information but I would try to find it used as it is a bit pricey. If you really want the information try to go to a local tradeshow. That seemed to help me more than the book.
excellent book.......2007-03-10
this book really has it all. I bought this book after reading previous reviews and I was not disappointed. It takes you through all of the silkscreening approaches from begining to end. It also gives you loads of resources for shirts and supplies. It gives alot of advice from the business end as well. My book also came with a helpful DVD. Of all the books that i've seen for sale on this subject, I think this is probably your best choice.
Good book Despite Scott Fresner.......2006-12-13

Book Description
Louie's unhappy because the other kids call his father "the junkman." But his father knows that it's not just junk: "All a person needs is some imagination! And a little of that stuff can take you right out of this world!"
So Louie builds the Imagination I, a spaceship fueled entirely by imagination -- and blasts off into an adventure that will dazzle children and adults alike.
Customer Reviews:
Awesome for the Imagination.......2006-12-29
This is a great book for a few reasons and not just that Ezra Jack Keats wrote it. First, it addresses an important issue; that no matter what you look like, how you dress or how much money you don't have your friends are the ones who are true to you. In addition, your popularity can change within a few hours. Second, this story is great because it has inspired my kids to believe in the power of their dreams. My kids love this book; it really seems to fuel their imagination.
Regards to the Man in the Moon.......2002-01-22
Louie is upset that his friends call his father "the junkman." But his father explains to him that all it takes is a little imagination to transform "junk". So with the help of his parents, Louie builds the spaceship Imagination I. The next morning, he and his friend Susie blast off into the wide expanses of space. At first they are a bit afraid, but that changes when they see wondrous things and discover new worlds. A mini adventure occurs when Ziggie and Ruthie---who have followed the two into space---run out of imagination and get stuck. This book introduces children to the mystery and beauty of outerspace. Keats' illustrations done with a combination of paint and collage are truly fantastic. However, I find that most importantly "Regards to the Man in the Moon" teaches children to let their imagination soar and transport them places they've never been, and where they can be anyone and do anything.

Book Description
A little boy living in a distant country is lonely. He needs a bed of his own, a room of his own, a house of his own -- and most of all, a momma and poppa of his own. But he must travel far to get them. He must fly for a day and a night through blue skies and clouds and stars before he comes to a place he can call home... with his loving new adopted family.
Customer Reviews:
cute story about adoption.......2007-09-12
Flying across the world to become part of a new family can be scary but wonderful at the same time, as told by a little boy in this story. I liked that it does star a boy rather than a boy, like many adoption stories do. The story is written in simple understandable language and the illustrations are soft but filled with detail to interest young readers. The little expresses some of his feelings about adoption and I am sure many young adopted readers will find themselves relating with his thoughts. This is a good one.
My daughter loves this book!!.......2007-04-07
My 3 year old daughter adopted from China loves this book, she is a little too impatient for the written story nightly but requests the book over and over for the pictures-while she makes up her own story to go along with the pictures. She loves going on about the mommy and daddy in the story and how she had a picture book sent to her and then she flew on a plane just like in the story. She makes this story her own.
The pain of coming home.......2001-09-09
Children adopted overseas adore this story, regardless of their country of origin. It is especially helpful for children adopted at an older age.
Having a home and a permanent family is wonderful, of course. But older children don't know that when they come home. They are often angry at being uprooted and taken to strange new places, where people speak a foreign toungue. They are understandably frightened. So many new things in the early days assault their senses that days can seem like a lifetime.
This soothing story eases the pain of that transition. It helps them to know that they are wanted, waited for, and loved, even before they arrive. It eases the terrible pain of the transition. If you buy no other adoption story for your internationally adopted child, make it this one. Alyssa A. Lappen
"One of the Best Adoption Books I've Found".......2000-11-19
I have an adopted daughter from Korea and we have many, many books on adoption. This is the best one I've found - it describes so well the experience my daughter, and we had, and makes me cry every time I read it. I've found it helpful not only for her but for her friends and classmates to understand her experience.
A wonderful book on adoption.......2000-03-09
As a parent of two wonderful Korean boys, this book is a fantastic story of a child's travel to be with his forever family. I read this book for the children's story at my church on my son's first Coming to America Day (the anniversary of his arrival) and the response was wonderful. My sons really enjoy listening to this story and it has provided an avenue for us to talk about their adoption adventure and the plane ride from Korea to the United States. I high recommend this book. It is a must own book for parents of international adoptees.
Customer Reviews:
This book is beautiful beyond its words and a joy to read........1997-11-09
I first received this book as a gift at age 6. I loved it then and I love it now. The stories are not only wonderfully written, but also provide an insight into the cultures and times from which they are taken. Astronomony is the theme of the collection; I found it fascinating to take a look back and see how early peoples accounted for comets, the northen lights, eclipses and the different phases of the moon. I am a die-hard romantic, but I guarantee that even those who enjoy the more formal side of astronomy and astrophysics will lose themselves in the stories.
Tales are taken from Finland, West Africa, Serbia, Australia, the Amazon Basin, North America, China and Peru, to name a few of the contributing regions. The illustrations are colorful and creative, decidely appealling and highly inspiring.
If you are looking for a gift anyone will enjoy, or simply want to treat yourself, BUY THIS BOOK! I cannot stress enough what a pleasure it is to read.

An illustrator's wonderful interpretation of a classic poem; a joy to read and view........2007-01-26
This is truly a wonderful book. It is short, sweet, and simple. At least that is the way it felt as I read it and looked at the pictures. The text is a classic poem by Robert Louis Stevenson who lived between 1850 and 1894. And the watercolor illustrations marvelously bring the poem to life so the reader can better understand it. There are 15 scenes (2-pages each) in the book.
The story is about the moon and what happens at night while it glows. We meet some raccoons, deer, owls, dogs, cats, bats, and a mouse. 5 stars!

No holds barred view of 1940's Urban life........1999-03-04
I enjoyed the refreshing realism of this play. Being from Trinidad this book gave me a view into the recent history of my county. The characters were finely drawn allowing a look into the lives of ordinary people during World War 2. This play will rouse you from any lethargy and evoke strong emotions.
